Lost all my iTunes...instructions to transfer??

Ok, I'm sorry cause I know this has been asked dozens of times but I'm kind of an idiot so I need help. My old computer DIED yesterday. Just completely melted down. So all 1000 and whatever songs are now gone. My iTunes on that computer was a 6.something and therefore no backup system was in place. Fortunately, they're still all on my iPod. And (woohoo!) I have a new computer that I'm about to install the newest version of iTunes on.
Ok, here's the thing. I have 100 dollars worth of iTunes paid for songs on my iPod. I really want to get them (I have CDs of everything else, so uploading those isn't a huge problem) onto my iTunes.
In the past, whenever I've synched up my iPod to iTunes, it erases songs on my iPod that are no longer on my iTunes. Obviously, now that I have 100 songs that my only link to is the iPod, I don't want to do that! How do I keep new, empty iTunes from erasing my iPod? How do I get my very important iTunes purchased songs safely ONTO my iTunes?
Please help! I'm sorry for being such a dumby, but I'm in a little bit of a panic mode at the moment.

Music Rescue also works as far as restoring your playlists etc. I've used it twice, you can use the Quick Recover mode, but have to click continue trial (something like that) allot, cp. to purchase option. Otherwise diesel is right as far as restoring via  your purchase history.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod/iphone/ipad:  File>Transfer Purchases

Now I'm using a brand new computer (Windows) and I have opened a NEW iTunes account, but I now I need to figure out if it is possible to recoup my music content that I originally had. I had, I believe around close to 300 songs on my account ;(......Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Now remove all your info and update the old AppleiD/iTunes account and use only that account.
You cannot transfer items between iTunes accounts.
You can redownload all the content.

You have a backup of your computer, or at the very least of your iTunes media, correct?
Simply copy your backup of your iTunes media into the iTunes library on your new computer.
Connecting and syncing your device to the new computer without first recovering your iTunes media is a really, really, really bad idea.  iDevices are designed to ONLY sync with one computer.  When you plug your device into a new computer, it will wipe all media on the device when it syncs.  The only media you may be able to salvage and transfer to the new computer would be anything bought directly on the device.
If you do not have a backup of your iTunes media, then you will want to either look at a way (using software from a third party company)  to either extract the media from you iDevice or your old computer (assuming the hard drive is not toast).

  • Computer crashed, lost all my itunes.

Hi everyone. This is my first post on here. OK, my computer just crashed and I had too restore it back to factory and I lost all my itunes. Is there anyway that I can transfer my itunes from my ipod video to my itunes library on my PC? I really dont want to buy all my music again. Thanks for the help.
    Frank

You can do it, but it is important NOT to let your iPod synchronise with your empty library as that will delete the music from your iPod.
Here is a selection of programs that can copy from iPod to PC:
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    iGadget Windows Only
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
    PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
    PodPlayer Windows Only
    CopyPod Windows Only http://www.copypod.net/index.php
Or to copy in Windows (A little more complicated)see:

  • I've got a problem...i've lost all my itunes, can I get them back?

I had to reformat my computer and well...I lost all my itunes cause I couldn't save or burn them...so I Was wondering is there any way to get my stuff back without havein to rebuy it?

iTunes has an option to transfer from iPod to iTunes library the purchased media files. To transfer anything else you will need to go online to find programs to do the transfer. There are many, but since I haven't used them I prefer not to recommend.

  • HT203167 My computer crashed and i lost all my Itunes media ?!

Recently my computer crashed and I lost all my Itunes Media...I have absolutely no idea what I should do ?!
Could somebody tell me what to do ?

If you have a backup to an external hard disk, then install iTunes and place the backup of C:\users\????\Music\iTunes back into that folder. If you need to redownload old purchases, then go into iTunes and go store -> purchased -> download previous purchases and that will at least get you what you bought from Apple. If you could elaborate on what kind of crash, I might be able to recommend a few other things, but that would be less Apple support and more data recovery.

  • I have lost all my itunes data due to a cumputer crash how do i sync my iphone and ipad to itunes without starting all over agian

Hi, I have lost all data from itunes on my computer, is there a way to re-sync or get all the data from my phone and ipad 2 back to itunes on the computer as when I go to sync message appears saying this phone is sync to a different itunes library and it will clear my phone if i continue. can any one help please?

These devices will sync with one computer at a time.  When you sync to a new one, then it will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer files/docs/pics/music/etc.
Use your backup copy of your old computer to move everything over.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from your devices.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases
You will need to enter at least one unique contact and calendar entry on the new computer as well, otherwise that content will be erased as well.  If you have a unique entry, then you should get the option to merge the data.
Hopefully you have your backup copy of your old computer and will not have to go through this.

  • New computer, lost all previous itunes purchases

Recently I have had to have my whole computer wiped and start again.
Naturally this means that I have lost all my data.
Also, a large percent of my iTunes Store purchases were not on my iPod so when I went to transfer purchases, they weren't there! These include things like Louis Theroux TV episodes.
As you can I imagine I am pretty ticked off by this.
Can anyone tell me how to retrieve these purchases?

Have you failed to maintain a backup of your music? Terrible idea.

    No.

  • My Mac HDD failed and I lost all my iTunes purchases... anything I can do?

My two month old Macbook HDD failed and I lost everything (no I hadn't backed up yet)... all my iTunes music purchases went with the HDD... is there any way I can download them again?
    Regards
    Shane

The policy is normally you can download once and only once and you are supposed to back up your purchases. However Apple has been known to make exceptions if you state your case and have a good reason why you need to redownload. I would hope that because your new MacBook failed that would be a good excuse since it is completely reasonable to expect to have some time to arrange to get an external drive or whatever to backup as you wouldn't be expecting a drive failure on a new Apple machine.
    Good luck,

  • My computer was in a fire and lost all my itune files...

    Hello,
Recently my house was on fire and I lost my computer with all my itune files. I bought so many "the office" episodes but now they are all gone.
I was wondering if there was a way to recover all this since apple itunes keeps some sort of purchase history. Would it be possible to download them again?
    Thanks

thinking that once you have purchase content you could re-download stuff you own the right to use whenever you want, and that Apple and/or the Record Companies would not exploit the loss of a client to get them to re-purchase music they already have proof of ownership of.
Your thinking is incorrect. The iTunes Store only allows a single download. Why this is no one here can say, but it's been the policy since day 1 of the Store.
I have never backed up my media (since I owned all the DVDs and CDs) and now I don't do it either since I have way too much of it.
I personally think you're foolish not to back up downloaded content that you've paid for. There's no way you purchase too much to make a backup, at least once every couple of weeks, which would minimize the amount of potential loss.
I do not want to (and sometimes cannot always) do a backup every time I purchase a single song.
Your call. But if you don't, then you risk losing valuable items should your system crash or be stolen, and will have no right to complain should that happen. The policy's clear, and you cannot claim ignorance of it in the future.
    Regards.

  • One of my computers crashed and I lost all my itunes library. how do I get this back?

My daughter  accidentally downloaded a virus and my computer crashed hard along with the back up hard drive!  I was able to recover just a few item using all the data retrieval software but 90% of my stuff is gone or corrupted including all my itunes. I was told that Itunes would allow a one time restore/ is this correct and if so how do I do this?
