Lost all my keyword smart collection data

I temporarily turned off time machine for various reasons and something happened and I've lost my data I constructed to label clip keywords and group/smart collections etc.
Not sure if I can get it back. I hope I don't have to go back to lesson 3 and start over!
I do have a Final Cut Events folder and Final Cut Projects folder inside of the Movies folder on my HD.
   Dave

I am sooo sorry!  Looks like I failed to notice a name in the search/find box filtering the data.
My Bad.
But it does bring up the question of how to restore various backups of projects and events of Final Cut Pro X.

  • Without Keywords Smart Collection Issue

    Hello,
I'm reviewing all the photos under the 'Without Keywords' smart collection.
I want to apply multiple keywords to a photo but after I apply the first keyword, the photo disappears since it no longer is 'Without Keywords'.
Any way to deal with this?
    Thanks.

    A couple of ways:
    - Add all the photos to a collection or the Quick Collection.
    - Assign the keyword "No Keywords" to all the photos, then filter on that keyword.

Restore it using the computer you normally sync with.

  • I D/L'd a trial version of LR 5 and lost all my catalog and collections in LR 4. What can I do to get them back?

Yesterday I D/L'd a trial version of LR 5.6 and during installation it seemed to be copying my catalog from my LR 4.4.  Now nearly all of my catalog and all my collections in LR 4 have disappeared.  What has happened to them andhow do I get them back.  The original photos seem to still be available in the myphotos directory on the computer, but without any of my lightroom editing.

Thank you so much!  I was freaking out that I had lost the whole
catalog and all my collections.  It would have been good if Adobe
support had been able to point me in the right direction with this
advice. They basically shrugged their shoulders and said tough
    luck!  I am not impressed!
    Thanks again, Anne

I have updated my iPhone to iOS6.1.3 today and lost all my photos and some data(messageies) I have tried iTunes back up but still not success, please help.

If your messages and photos weren't part of your backup, then they're gone.
Certainly you weren't foolish enough to update the iOS on your phone before importing your photos off your phone for safe keeping on your computer like you would do with any digital camera, were you?

    How did you import them?
Keywords are preserved if you use either the Import iPhoto Library or Show iPhoto Browser methods.

  • "any" vs "all" when filtering SMART COLLECTIONS

Need help from the pros in this group. I've to teach a specific skill to some students tomorrow, and--I must admit--I'm a little lost. Can sometime provide detailed answers to me? I'd be much obliged.
I need to know the distinction between filtering between "any" and "all" in smart collections.
Basically, what does that mean? I mean, to me, filtering between, say, "any" clips with the a certain attribute would be the same as my wanting to see "all" of the same. I'm a bit embarrassed to say I can't wrap my mind around the concept.
The first choice of "all" vs. "any" is when you go into the first level of the filter, itself:
Then, you have the same options for each filter variable:
I've an excercise where I have students have to filter smart collections based on keywords and shot compositioin. And the devil is in being able to distinguish between "any" and all"
Any help for "any" or "all" of you would be greatly appreciated.

the words "any" and "all" do not refer to clips, but to criteria.
    "any" means "or"
    "all" means "and"
    In your example:
    1) you would set a smart collection for clips satisfying ALL of
         - having the keyword "shoes"
         - being favorites
    2) similarly, but ANY (as in either or)
    3) is a bit of combination of both; you have  (two people or group) AND Favorites, so you need to set "all";
and in the people category choose "any".

  • Smart Collection date problems

I have some pictures in my catalog that have completely incorrect dates. My step son didn't set the date on his camera and they are in the year 2048. These pictures keep appearing completely out of context and drives me nuts!
For example, they are in the Past Month smart collection. And in the new Past Week smart collection I created. They are not in a This Week or This Month smart collections I just created. I really would like to use "Past Week" as opposed to "This week" but it is useless.
I haven't changed them because I don't know the real date but, alas, I want to keep them. It doesn't look like I can remove the date (which date does LR use anyway?!) in LR. Nor does LR support partial dates. I guess I'm going to have to make something up. Does "Edit Capture Time" now work in LR? I suppose an approximate date would be better than a completely wrong date (but of course I will forget it's not an exact date...)
    Any comments, suggestions?
    Judy

Just use your smart collection to hold all photos with the date 2048. Then edit the date in the exif data on the first photo, then select all the rest and sync the rest of the photos. I used Edit Capture Time and it worked for me. You might be able to change the date by selecting all of them first, and then doing an edit capture time. One piece of advice though, is to give them a unique keyword before messing with the date. That way if you need to re-do anything you will have a way to collect the photos.
To answer your question, I believe LR uses the capture time when you do a date search.

  • Smart Collection Dates

When I create a Smart Collection using dates, I seem to get random photos as a result. For example, if I create a collection that specifies "Edit Date in the last 10 days," I get photos edited in the last 10 days plus hundreds of other photos that do not have any metadata dates in the last ten days, and I am certain that I did not edit them in the last 10 days.
    How can this be corrected?
Dell XPS710 duo core, 4 gig RAM, WinXP Pro SP3

I posted a question this morning similar to this one. I was also getting many more photos in a smart collection than I had actually edited. However, I asked the question if it was possible that upgrading an image to the LR3 2010 process would change the Edit Date, which was the basis on which I was creating the Smart Collection. One of my respondents said, and I paraphrase, "Of course. Why wouldn't it?"  Another reported that the Edit Date is kept in the catalog and not in the EXIF or IPTC data.
If the Edit Date is updated when the 2010 Process is invoked, then that is probably my answer as to why many more images are included that I expect. What happens is that when I go to edit an image that has not had its process updated, I am asked if I want to update that image or all images in the collection I'm working in. I have done both. So many of my images have been updated by the 2010 Process without having been edited in other ways.

  • Aperture library updated with 3.5.1 lost all my keywords

I got a new Mac with maverick 10.9.2 downloaded Aperture 3.5.1 and updated my Aperture master library. Where did all my keywords go ?

Which version of Aperture did you upgrade from?
Where are the keywords missing? On your image files, when you are looking at the metadata in the "Info" pane in the Inspector? Below the images in the Browser? Or are the missing from the keywords list in the smart settings HUD; the Keywords HUD, or the Keywords Controls?
Sometimes the keywords simply appear to be missing, if you are viewing an event or album with new images. The keywords smart rules will only show the keywords, that already have been used for the images in the scope of the search.  And the Keywords HUD may have a filter set. Check, if the Search field at the top of the HUD is cleared, if the HUD appears to be empty.  The metadata overlays may have been disabled.
If you don't see keywords at all, repair your Aperture library:
    Quit Aperture.
Back up your Aperture library, if you do not have a current backup.
Use the Library First Aid Tools to repair or rebuild the Aperture Library:
Hold down the alt/option and command keys ⌥⌘ at the same time, while launching Aperture. Keep holding down the keys firmly, until you see the First Aid panel.
Select "Repair database" from the panel.  This may take a long time for a large library. Don't interrupt it.
If "Repair database" does not work, try again with he next option "Rebuild"

  • Lost all the keywords - bridge cs3

Hello! It seems bridge suddenly cancelled all the keywords I had saved - now when I open it and try to insert keywords in the photos, instead of giving me the whole list of keywords I had created from which I picked out keywords to apply to each photo, the program only gives me a couple of stupid default keywords. If they were really all gone, it would be a year's work gone. Can anyone help?
    Thank you so much.
    Annalisa

If they were really all gone, it would be a year's work gone. Can anyone help?
The keywords list is in the user library (user library/application support/Adobe/BridgeCS3 : Adobe Bridge Keywords.xml
If you have problems with Bridge first thing to try is restart Bridge holding down option key and choose reset preferences.
And you should have made a back up of your keyword list on a regularly base using the export menu under the fly out menu top right of the keyword panel. There is always a risk of a crash or other stuff.
Your keywords are not lost, they still are assigned to the files but your keyword tree might. If you select a file with keywords that are assigned but not on the list they will appear in italic on your keyword list. Click on them with right mouse click and choose make persistent to get it back in the list. Painstakingly because you have to do that one by one.
If you have a back up from the library somewhere (time machine?) and your list is still gone after reseting preferences copy the above mentioned keywords file to your current user library to retain the old one.
If you have an exported file of them you can easily import the list again in the same menu as export.
And Tai Lao is correct with CS3, it is really the worst version ever of Bridge.

  • I had two iPhoto libraries. I erased one of them (which disappeared in the paperbasket - as planned. The otherone, however has now lost all its Keywords... Is there anything what I can do to get my keywords back????

I had two iPhoto Libraries with different content (on an external drive). I had to erase one of the libraries, and it disappeared - as planned - in the paperbasket.
The other (untouched) library, however has now lost all Keywords, and it needs quite awhile (the ball is spinning "for hours") to build up all events (order still like before the keyword desaster.
What can I do to get the keywords back?
    Börries

To be more clear: All fotos had been "imported to their foto libraries" by just standard means - no shifting no erasion etc. etc. just regular Upload in one of the two iPhoto libraries by "import".
"Or load your backup from before this happened"
This answer seems to be pretty close to a solution - but, I need help in a step-by-step-way:
My library is located on an external LaCie hard drive - which is to the best of my knowledge not covered by Time Machine. With other words: Time Maschine is not useful here. Is there another backup procedure (possibly from within iPhoto) which I could use to rebuild the keywords from an earlier backup. That would solve 99% of my problems and is fine.
Sorry for being so helpless, but it seems to me as if you had come quite close to a solution....
    Best,
    Börries

  • Lightroom has lost all my keywords!!!

Let me start by saying that Adobe has the most irritating customer support I have EVER dealt with... way to not have an email or phone number anywhere for your paying customers Adobe. and if there is a line/email way to hide it so effeciently it can never be found so people are forced to deal with this stupid posting situation... I want a direct response form the people who MADE my product I pay for every month...
That being said after "upgrading" to Lightroom 5 it seems all my keywords are now just gone in the wind or a figment of the past. they all still show up in the list on the right hand side, but none of those keywords now link to any images and there are almost 3,000 I had keyworded over years. I would love to know why this happened and how to fix it because I dont even have the right information to re-keyword them all and I personally see this as something adobe did wrong not me. ( yes I have read the 50 other threads online about why this has happened). I have over 500 images of just the iris of the eye and it is literally IMPOSSIBLE to put peoples names back with their images. I require assistance here ASAP Adobe.....

Go to the Library Module and click on the top-most folder which should contain all of your photos.  Press Control-L to view the Library Filter.  Click on Text.  In the first drop down choose Any Searchable Field.  In the second drop down choose Contains All.  In the search box enter one you your keywords.  The photos that contain the keyword should appear in the grid.  This will show you if Lightroom still knows about your keywords, and if you can access them.  Hopefully you chose to Automatically Write Changes to XMP in the preferences.  If this is the case, your keywords are written into the files and they should work if they are re-imported back into Lightroom.  If you did not make this choice, your keywords are only in the Lightroom Catalog which you, hopefully, have backups from which you can return to a previous state of the catalog that worked.
As far as support, this forum is most often the best way to get it.  However, complaining about Adobe here is counterproductive to getting your questions answered.
