Lost all my music in itunes

When I opened itunes this morning all my music that I had on the computer is gone! No list, no podcasts, no purchased music, nothing.
The other day I did accidentally trash my music folder but I dragged it back out of the trash and itunes still worked after that. I lost some other music that did not play through itunes also, so I'm thinking I trashed and lost that too. I have not emptied the trash but I don't see anything in it that looks like it would be associated with itunes.
Can someone help me find my music?
Thanks.

So what you see in iTunes is only a link to the actual music files.
Open iTunes
Go to "File"
Click on "Add to Library"
A new window should open to ask you were the folder is you want to update from.
Find your iTunes Music folder and click Open.
Also iTunes Preferences "Advanced" will tell you where it thinks the iTunes Music Folder is.
Hope this helps

Lost all my music in itunes when computer crashed.  itune store doesn't show all my purchases.  How do I get all my music back?

Browse your iTunes folder.  Do you have files in folder in your media folder?  In other words, did you really lose the media or did iTunes just lose track of it?
Of course you have a backup you make of your computer before doing any major updates, right?

you might need to reinstall ML from the Recovery Partition.
To get to the recovery partition restart your computer,  hold CMD+R down when you hear the boot up chime. Open Disk Utility first (verify your boot disk and repair if needed) and then close it and reinstall ML.

ok...so I had to restore my computer back to its original factory state:( now I have lost all my music on itunes. Can I get them back??  if so, how??

You can download everything you purchased from the iTunes Store without having to pay again:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Here is the procedure for your reference, using iTunes 10.7. The procedure and screenshots for newer versions are contained in the above link.
This assumes what you purchased is still available in the Store.
Open iTunes and click on iTunes Store on the left
On the right you will see this
Sign in with your Apple ID, then click on "Purchased" (with the orange blob)
On the summary page that appears select the tab "Not on This Computer" on the right.
On the list that appears, select what you want and then click the "Download" button.

  • I lost all my music on itunes and ipod

my computer crashed during winter brake so i lost all my music on itunes, now ive lost all my music on ipod i dont know what to do and i cant live without my music please help me out to get it back.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod:  File>transfer Purchases

  • TS2776 Had to get a new hard drive, of course lost all my music in itunes. If I sync my ipod to itunes will I lose my music on my ipod??

Had to get a new hard drive, of course lost all my music in itunes.  If I sync my ipod to itunes now will I lose my music on my ipod?

Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device.  Unless you have the music on your PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

As for you own music, you may have to use a third party software to copy over.  A good Free one is called Sharepod which you can download from Download.com here:

  • Lost all my music on iTunes and printer no longer works

What is going on with my comp? Lost all music on itunes. it says can't locate music. Docked my ipod and it wiped that as well.
Tried to print but nothing. In preferences it knows it's the Epson C64 but it just won't print. When I take it out of Airport and plug directly to iMac, nothing.
Never switched the machine off so how do I get the music back. It was playing yesterday and today, it's gone. No updates were done, the machine has not been touched in anyway
    Help

    Senti,
In your Music > iTunes folder, is your
    music
still in there? Thats where your music should be
    by
default. Otherwise, do a search with
    Spotlight
for your music and see where it has gone.
As for the printer, make sure you have proper
    Intel
    compatible drivers.
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/printers.html
After following instructions from the above link, I
now get error 50 when trying to add my Epson Stylus
    C64
With the loss of my iTunes and now the printer I am
renaming my Intel Core Duo to Mental Core Blimey.
    When will the troubles end?
Phoning support in Bangalore see if they can help out
Ok didn't phone support, couldn't bear it so ploughed through. I managed to install driver only if I connected printer directly to iMac.
Then tried to plug it back to the Airport Extreme, no workio. Checked utilities for Airport, nothing in there to include update wireless printing.
    Suggestions?

  • Because of a PC problem I have lost all my music from iTunes Library.  All my music is still on my Nano (1st generation).  How can I safely transfer my music into my library, I don't want to risk losing it.

Because of a PC problem, I have lost the entire contents of my iTunes Library.  I still have all my music on my Nano (1st generation).  Is there a way of safely transferring my music from my Nano into iTunes Library.  I would hate to lose it all.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer is based on you maintaining your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will probably have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

  • I lost all my music in itunes because i restored my iphone on a friends mac. How can i get my original itunes back?

    Anyone?

As Ana says. Re-sync the music from YOUR computer.
Music is not included in the iPhone backup. What would be the point. ALL of the music should already be in your iTunes library.

I dowloaded ios5 for my iphone4, and when i finished the backup i lost all the music and all the videos i bought from the iTunes store. How can i get it back?

Backup do not contaiuns music or apps, you will either need to resync them from your itunes computer, or you can go to purchase history in itunes or app store app and go to purchase history and redownload them.
