Lost all photos and albums in iPhoto version 9.4.3

Hi all, I'm currently using iPhoto version 9.4.3.
Didn't do anything out of the norm but lost all my imported photos from my iPhone that I've painstakingly put into albums.
Only thing I did differently was shutting down my laptop cos I was catching a plane. After restarting my laptop and iPhoto, I realised all photos and albums were gone.
Read solutions abt rebuilding libraries but didn't work.
HELP! Not sure what to do next, so anything suggestions will be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window.
2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

  • How do I transfer all photos from my Imac, IPhoto version 7.1.5, to another Imac, IPhoto version 9.2, but keep the two sets of photos separate

How do I transfer all photos from my Imac, IPhoto version 7.1.5, to another Imac, IPhoto version 9.2, but keep the two sets of photos separate

You need to clarify what you are asking.
An iphoto installation has two major parts: 1. The application or program - that's the software and 2. The Library - that's where your actual pictures are.
    So when you say:
I want to keep using the old Iphoto program on the new Imac.  There is already an IPhoto program on the new Imac but I do not want to add or delete from that one.
It sounds like you want to move the application and not the Library. Most folks want to move the Library, and it makes no sense to have two versions of the application on your mac.

  • How can I remove all photos and directories from iPhoto?

How can I remove all photos and directories from iPhoto as if it was a brand new install?
I am new to iPhoto and was unaware of how it works, honestly I still am a little confused as to when pics I am using 1/2 the time, some from iPhoto and some from MyPics.
Anyhow, I am looking to remove all photos from iPhoto because during the migration of all my photos from PC to MAC, somehow my timeline became messed up and all my photos that have been logged my dates since 1998 are now all messed up.
Although all my year folders are still in tact, IE 1998-2006, the subfolders and like pics are all intertwined somehow.
And when I search iPhoto for a given year, photos from 2,4, 8 yrs back show up in 2006.
Anyhow, I have selected and deleted all photos and folders within iPhoto, and then import the desired photos from MyPics, only to have the photos double up in the library. ( The old ones that should be deleted and the new imports)
I simply don't get it, they fill the trash and disappear when it's emptied, then reappear when iPhoto re-opens!
    Can someone help????
I have completely reworked all my photos so that they are all in the correct folders outside of iPhoto, and now I want to import those and only those pics with that file structure.
    IE Structure = YEAR > MONTH > DAY ( or if needed) > DAY/EVENT

Do you want to remove the existing full sized image files also? If so then just drag the iPhoto Library folder from the Pictures folder to the Trash and empty it. But be warned you'll lose all of your image files.
You are dragging the files to the iPhoto Trash bin and then using the iPhoto->Empty Trash menu, right?
In copying your photos to myspace and then back the original capture date may not be retained and then either the created date or modified date will be used by iPhoto. If the files in the current library are the originals from your camera then those have the best chance of retaining the correct Captured Date. You can check that out by dragging the Originals folder from your iPhoto Library folder to the desktop and then trash what remains of the iPhoto Library folder. Then launch iPhoto and it will ask you to create an new library. Then import that Originals folder and it's subfolders by dragging it into iPhoto's open window. You'll keep the same rolls that was. The roll dates may change but you can check the captured date of the files by using the calendar in the Source pane.
You won't be able to keep your folder structure within iPhoto. Each outside folder will result in a roll with the same title as the folder. You'll be able to create folders in the Source pane to put albums inside. You can create a smart album to include all photos in a certain date range, line one month.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • Synched Ipod lost all photos and apps.

I synced my ipod to my computer for the first time. I downloaded itunes on my computer. I connected my ipod and was told to download latest software for ipod. After downloading, I got message that download failed. Had to unplug and reconnect ipod to computer. Set up as new connection and new ipod name. All photos and apps are gone. Where did the apps and photos get downloaded to?? How do I get back to original ipod name I had before I unplugged and re-plugged in and gave new name. Apps and photo's no where to be found in Itunes on my computer.

You should have backed up to iCloud and restore backup after the sync or update.
Re-download your apps from App Store>Purchased

  • Missing Photos and albums in iphoto on the iMac (2012)

on the imac I´m missing all the photos till 2011, and on the macbook air all till 2008 and between 2008 and 2011 i`m also missing some.
Has somebody any idea why iphoto doesn´t show or has deleted all the photos and how can i bring them back? On the iMac I´m also missing all the Albums, it just doesn´t show them and i can´t find a button in the settings to switch this...
so if anybody knows how i can fix this...

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
iPhoto 8 (09) and earlier- run the options indicated
iPhoto 9 (11) and later- run  Option #4 to rebuild the database
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager (iPhoto 8 or earlier or IPhoto 11 and later) and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the
File ➙ Rebuild Library (iPhoto 8 or earlier)
    or
Library ➙ Rebuild Library (iPhoto 9 or later)
menu option to rebuild the library.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • HELP! Recovered iphotolibrary lost ALL events and albums?!

Without a clear reason and absolutely no warning, iPhoto (on my brand new MacBookPro with all current updates etc.) suddenly showed '0' photos in my <80t photo library. After the itinial panic I was able to 'recover' the photos with 'recover library' option by Option+open. To my shock the entire photo library has been 'recovered' in a single 'recovered photos' event. Total catastrophe.. Could someone please have an idea how to get iPhoto to find the previous event and album hierarch? Grateful for ANY tips out there. Thank you!!

You can try rebuild with iPhoto Library Manager
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
If that doesn't help then there is no fix, I'm afraid.

  • HELP! I changed my desktop photo and lost all photos and music!

I swear, all i did was put a pretty picture of lightening (that was in Apple's list of stock photos to choose from BTW!) on my desktop. It might as well have been real lightening because iPhoto doesn't have any of my pictures in it and iTunes doesn't have any of my music. When I open these folders, I can find the content there, but why did it disappear from the programs AND if I change my desktop back, will the pics/tunes come back?!?! I can live without the photos but the music and movies!!!! I have it all on my iPhone but now I am afraid to "sync" it to my computer.
    Perhaps something easy like "import"?

Well, I ended up just dragging and dropping my music back into iTunes and it recopied them but all playlists are gone... oh well. As far as I can tell, all purchased music is there as well.
As far as the photos, I can see and open them in the pictures file (with the album titles and all) with Preview, but I tried to drag and drop those as well, but it was saying there was an error and it couldn't read them or something like that. I know, I should have written the error message down... rookie mistake. Just to test, I tried to upload a picture from the folder to a website, but when I went to browse for the picture it didn't recognize any of them.
I also repaired permissions (there were alot!) a couple of times until there were none. That didn't seem to work... I am so frustrated. They are all there on the hard drive but they wont go into iPhoto.
I think the worst part is... why did this happen and what to avoid so it won't happen again. I can't believe it is just because I changed the background on my desk top. After I did it, many of my regular sites like webmail didn't recognize me when I visited and I had to answer a bunch of my security questions again. Its as if they don't recognize this is the same computer just because it has a different screen saver!!! If all this really is because of that, it is a major design flaw. Why put the option to change if it is going to throw the whole system into a tailspin?
I am sure it is something I did wrong... just venting.
Anyway, how to get the photos imported back into iPhoto... any more ideas?

  • Lost all photos and apps on update

I have a 3GS and have just done the ISO5 update and have now lost all my photos and applications.  Prior to doing the update I backed up but during the update the phone synched again to the new settings, extremely upset.  Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, try all possible to get any backup if you did, such as Google address books, iTunes backup files, or iCloud backup.
If you really don't have any backup, don't worry, you can use some third-party iPhone data recovery software to get your photos, messages and contacts back!

  • Updated and back uped phone last night and now have lost all photos and aps.  What happened

backed up phone last night and lost all aps, contacts, and photos.  What happened

The phone was not restored from the backup.
Frankly, unless the user actually copies the pictures off the device to the computer, there is no guarantee they will return.  They should return when restored from backup, but it's not a risk that most intelligent people are willing to take if the photos are considered valuable.
Apps may not be syncing due to the "Sync Apps" option being deselected.

  • Lost all photos and projects - What happened

I am running OS X 10.9 and have Aperture 2 - I have never had an issue and recently opened Aperture and it's completly empty.
Lost all my projects and photographs! Years worth...
Is it not compatible with my OS?
DId I maybe delete the aperture library file?
Please help me get everything back.
I apprecaite anyones input and walking me through the steps of locating my files.
    Thanks in advance!

It sounds, like a new empty library has been created.
You could use Terminal's Find command find any other libraries you may have.
The terminal App is located in your Applications/Utility folder. Navigate to it in finder (or use launchpad and type 'ter' to find it). When you find it, lauch Terminal.app
This will give you a command line window where you can type various commands to examine your system.
Copy the following command and paste it into terminal, then press return to run it.
    find . -iname "*.aplibrary" 2>/dev/null
If it finds any libraries is will show you the path to where each is located.
If it doesn't find anything, you may need to look to your backup.
I don't know if Aperture 2 works properly on Mavericks.

  • Lost all photos and data

My husband's iphone 4 was plugged in to my aptop for charging (not unusual).  When I looked at it, I saw that itunes had synched it as if it were my phone.  Everything of his is gone.  Is there anyway of retrieiving, at the very least, the photos.

If he had a backup, he could restore from his backup where there should be photos and other information. To prevent this from happening in the future, turn off auto-sync
in itunes, click 'edit' in the toolbar, then 'preferences.' next, choose 'devices' from the options at the top, and check the box next to where it says 'prevent iphones, ipads, and ipods from syncing automatically' and click 'ok'
Now, when you plug in a device to the computer, it won't attempt to sync without you pressing a button to do so
