Lost an Album Purchased on iTunes

Here's the problem:
I downloaded an album on my iPhone and synced with my MacBook with no problems, the album went into my library. Then my hard drive broke before I could back it up and I'm now working from a temporary external drive (which has all my other backups on) but the album is only on my iPhone now and I can't sync that to the new hard drive without wiping it first.
Is there any way I can download the album again without paying £8 quid for it? I know Apple don't tend to let you download more than once but I also have a mate who left his laptop on a train (the joker) and they let him re-download his entire library (about 1600 bought songs) but I think they said it was "exceptional circumstances" but got knows what they were.
So anybody know how I can go about getting them back?
Oh also, I won't be able to get it back from my iPhone probably even if there is a way as its currently in for repair (not having much luck with technology at the minute) and I'm not holding out much hope of getting it back with anything on it....
Cheers.
AD.

If you didn't make a back-up of your purchases to restore from then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Once a Product is purchased and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage." iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. If you click on any of the links on this page you'll find a space at the bottom to email your query: iTMS Customer Service

If you get your iPhone back from repair and it still has your purchases on it the transfer of purchased content from the iPod/iPhone to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer

  • 4 albums purchased from iTunes yesterday have songs not playing all the way through. They play for a period of time and skip to the next song. Everytime they are played. Can anyone help?

Some songs I purchased last night are not playing all the way through. Several songs from the 4 albums I purchased play for a period of time then just skip to the next song. The songs that do this, do it everytime they are played at the exact same spot. The songs that are affected skip to the next on iTunes on my PC which is updated to the most current iTunes and my 160gb iPod classic. Everytime they are played at the exact same spot. However on my other device, iPhone 4s all songs play just fine. I have almost 7,000 songs on my iPod and this has never happened before and I have played it awhile since downloading those albums yesterday. This is only happening with the albums purchased yesterday. Can anyone help me figure out what is wrong?

I'm having the same issue with a few songs I just downloaded. It skips randomly in the middle of the song.

  • Album purchased in iTunes does not stay listed in iTunes

I recently purchased and downloaded an entire album from the iTunes store. Every time I start iTunes, I find that the album is not listed, so I use the "Add folder to iTunes" option because the album does exist in the "My Music" folder. The next time I start iTunes it's not there anymore and I go through the same process to add it back to iTunes. Any idea why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?

iPod sort order is Album by Artist irrespective of choices made in iTunes. You can create separate playlists with your selected ordering, but the Cover Flow & Artist menus will always sort albums alphabetically. However, since both Cover Flow and the Artist>Album menus only allow you to play one album at a time it's not necessarily going to make as much difference as you might suppose.

  • Updated to 7.0 and lost video file purchased from iTunes

I updated my iTunes today and a video file I purchased from iTunes in February is gone. The file is still on my iPod because I have not sync'ed it yet. I know that once I do the file is lost for good. Is there a way of preserving it and putting it back into iTunes without repurchasing it?

  • Album purchased from iTunes plays fine in library but skips on iPod...

I RECENTLY PURCHASED AN ALBUM FROM ITUNES. I AM ABLE TO PLAY ALL THE SONGS FROM THE ALBUM WHILE I'M CONNECTED TO MY PC. IT PLAYS IN MY LIBRARY FOLDER, PURCHASED FOLDER AND EVEN IN MY DEVICES FOLDER.
BUT I AM UNABLE TO ALL THE SONGS FROM THE ALBUM ON MY IPOD. ALL THE SONGS SEEM TO HAVE TRANSFERRED FINE BUT WHEN I TRY TO PLAY THEM ON MY IPOD, THEY SKIP. FOR EXAMPLE, THERE ARE 23 SONGS ON THE ALBUM - I WILL START OUT WITH THE FIRST SONG AND CLICK PLAY AND IT WIL SKIP IN ORDER TO 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, AND THEN PLAY TRACK 8, 9, 10 - THEN SKIP A FEW MORE THEN PLAY A FEW MORE.
I HAVE E-MAILED APPLE AND THEY REPLIED WITH A FEW TROUBLE SHOOTING TIPS. NOE OF THE TIPS WORKED.
THEN I CALLED AND THEY WALKED ME THROUGH A FEW MORE TIPS. NONE OF THEM WORKED. THEY RECOMMENDED I SEND ANOTHER E-MAIL WHICH I DID BUT I HAVENT HEARD ANYTHING YET.
i called again this morning and they recomended i go to the apple store. i went to the SOHO apple store in NYC. they performed nothing on my ipod. after he looked up my confirmation # and read through the notes, he told me i needed a new ipod but that there were none in stock
in the entire store. i find that very hard to believe!!!!
i also question his recommendation because the ipod is only 6months old and as i've mentioned, everything i transfer works fine on my ipod except this one album which i purchased from itunes. that is the only purchase i have ever made, and at this point it will probably be my last!!!
is there something else i can try before i go through the trouble of getting a new ipod.
    PLEASE HELP!!!
    THANKS

    Try this Hard Reset
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.
    Test the sound again.
Here is the Apple support Article on the 5Rs

If these songs are in MP3 format, google and download MP3 Validator and run through songs in the library.
    Good Luck!

  • I have a album purchased on itunes downloaded to my iphone that will not play back, what can I do?

I have a album that was purchased from itunes downloaded on my iphone that will not play back, any suggestions?

You can replace the back glass or get a case.  There are many iPhone repair centers... Google for one.  You can also try the Apple store... I've heard they will replace the back for about $30.

  • TS1474 Lost several albums *completely* from iTunes library AND iPod-HELP

Sooo I had been using my laptop for iTunes purchases, management, etc., and then the thing crashed and has never been revived. I decided to begin using the desktop computer to access iTunes instead, and in the process of syncing a new purchase to my iPod, somehow inadvertently lost several older albums that I had purchased earlier. Now when viewing my library on either iPod or iTunes library on desktop computer, they do not appear to be present. Are they truly gone? All that money spent..poof? Please advise!

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
It appears that the mess resulted in the iPod seeing the computer/iTunes library as a new computer/iTunes library. If you sync to a new computer your iPod gets erased and the media in the iTunes library ends up on the iPod.

  • Single song from album purchased through itunes not authorized

I purchased an album through iTunes a few weeks ago and it worked fine. Yesterday and today, however, I am unable to play one track of the album. When I try, it asks me to log in to authorize my computer (to which it says, it's already authorized). But I'm not able to play this song... I purchased the album via iTunes as a whole album and all of the other songs on the album play fine.
I've tried deauthorizing the itunes and then authorizing it again, but no luck.

The song that will not play, may be corrupted and did not download properly. If you are in  a country, where you can download past purchases again, move the song to the Trash, but don't empty the Trash, then download the song again.
    See:  Downloading past purchases

  • Volume too low on album purchased on iTunes

I purchased an album on iTunes and when I burn to CD the volume is too low. I have done all suggest things to "enhance" the sound. All other items I have purchased are fine. It just seems to be this one album. Any suggestions. Is there a way to "repurchase-download" without paying.
    Jenean

    Craw4dm,
If you go to iTunes menu, select preferences and click on "playback" button you'll see a check box called "sound check". This enables the computer to adjust the volume of each track so that they all sound similar in volume. So no, you don't have to go through each track! Its a global setting of your music player.
I have it switched off at all times. I also have sound enhancer switched off at all times.
These features have no effect on volume (or anything for that matter) when you burn CD's.
As to the original poster, if the CD sounds quiet then that is how its supposed to be. If buy the CD in the shops it will sound the same. Note that there is big trend at the moment to make albums sound very loud using special processing at the mastering stage (when audio is prepared for album release). It is a trend that most "audiophiles" (or IMHO anyone with ears!) detest. Look up "loudness wars" or similar, on google.
Indeed the "sound check" facility in itunes is there to counteract the fact that CD's sound different in volume - a fact that is made all the worse by the record company practise I have just outlined!
I suspect the "quiet CD" just sounds more like it should do and its being compared to a CD thats been mastered overly loud.

  • I lost my books purchased through itunes- how do I get them back?

I lost my books and don't know how to recover them. I paid over 50.00 for them and would like to get them back.

    Hi,
If you're using OS X Mavericks, the books are not included within iTunes anymore, they are in the iBooks application on the Mac.
If you're not using Mavericks, go to the iTunes store, click purchased, then find the books section and download them again

  • Album Purchased from iTunes Store split up

I purchased the new Robbie Williams Swings Both Ways (Deluxe Version) album from itunes store last night but it has split the songs up as follows :
    Songs 1, 2, 4, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 together
    Song 3 on it's own
    Song 5 on it's own
    Song 6 on it's own
    Song 7 on it's own
    Song 10 on it's own
How can I get them all back into one album?

    Hi!
I am experiencing the same kind of issue. This week, I was downloading / purchasing an album on iTunes with iTunes 7.2 The download happened while iTunes was being updated (through Apple Software Update). 6 of the 8 songs got downloaded and then my computer froze. Downloads were still on-going and iTunes update was still installing. I had to restart my computer.
When it restarted, I had to start "Apple Software Update" over again for iTunes to work again. When it completed the update, only 6 of 8 songs were showing on my library. When I clicked on "Store" and "Check for purchases" and it allowed me to download the missing two songs.
Unfortanetely for me, now these two songs cannot be played by iTunes. As described in this post, iTunes simply skips these songs and goes to the next one. My computer is authorized correctly, and all other songs (purchased or not) are ok. I have also tried to download the Song of the week, and it hasn't solved my issue although the song of the week plays correctly.
    Any idea??
    Thanks!
    Marc-O.
