Lost and stolen

Hi,
My Ipad 3 WIFI got stolen a few days ago.
Possibility of finding it is very slim. I really don't want this robber to use my ipad. Is there a way to block my ipad through the serial number?

I entered my phone onto the lost and stolen list back in April and I found it the next day...I didnt think twice to take it off...now I want to sell it and have no clue how to take it off the list. The phone is an IPhone 4.

And have you reported this theft to the local police?
Did you enable "Find My Phone" in iCloud on the iPod? You may be lucky and see it, if somebody turns it on and it is still online, but that is a very slim chance.

IPAD AIR - Lost and Stolen. Can the thief use my locked device?

MY iPad Air was lost/stolen while crossing the border between Hong Kong and Lowu (Shenzhen).
The device is locked. Under the support/my devices it shows that my iPad is registered with Apple and I do have the serial number for the device handy.
I tried to use "FIND MY IPHONE" and the device does not show up. It is possible I did not activate that function although this is unlikely.
Can the thief use my device by erasing all the data? Can Apple trace the device and if so, who do I report it to at Apple ?

I also read somewhere that in the event I use the remote function via iCloud to delete the contents of the iPad, the thief could then use it. I have no intention of doing this.
I have just secured myself for now and changed all my passwords including the Apple user ID one.
I guess my best bet would be to report and register the number to the local authorities in case it gets returned / shows up by some good samaritan ?

If you didn't set up Find My iPhone or it otherwise does not appear in icloud.com, then there's no way to trace it. Notify the police and your cell carrier, and change any passwords for any online accounts you may have used from your iPhone (the iTunes Store, for instance).

Can a current Verison customer get into trouble for claiming false information regarding lost or stolen phones and their account, just to have them suspended?

I know of a family member that has filed (called) a false claim of 5 phones on their account being lost or stolen just to have them suspended, is there anything that can be reported or someone that can be notified to report this issue and/or can they get into trouble for filing or claiming false information?

Why claim lost or stolen? Why not just suspend the lines? In any case, the lines can be suspended, with or without payment, even without reporting them lost or stolen. The only point to reporting them that way is to prevent them from being used on another account.
If they were to try and replace them via insurance, there would be a deductible to pay. They may need to show proof if reported as stolen (police report).
I guess I'm puzzled as to the motive behind reporting them to be lost or stolen rather than a simple suspension.

I reported my iphone stolen this past weekend on july 27 2013.Recovering it looks like a slim chace. I looked on craigslist in the lost and found and found many ads to buy iphones any condition, sell iphones etc..and jailbreak any iphone. This makes iphones an item that probably wont be returned.

Sadly it's not just Craigs list, though that is one of the worst. And you didn't mention the find my phone service so I guess it wasn't enabled. As you say, there's not much hope. I hope it was insured.

You will never be able to use it, it's Activation Lock you're facing and cannot be bypassed without the original Apple ID & password.

If they run it over

spill coffee on it

Best Buy will not repair or replace it unless you purchase the protection plan.
Best Buy doe not manufacture phones. Any defects or deficiency in the phone you buy is not something Best Buy did just to get you and get you good.

If you do not purchase BB's protection plan you are subject to the Manufacturers plan. And once again. Best Buy is not the manufacturer.

I have no idea what you expected, but none of the scenarios you presented are covered. If you buy a car from say Ford, for the sake of argument, and the car is lost or stolen, will ford give you anew one? If you drive it into the ocean, will they fix it? If you get hit by another driver, will Ford replace your car?
I think you need to understand what is logical, and not get all into a snit over something that is both completely unrealistic, and is also plainly evident to almost everyone but you.

If you have an iCloud account and Find My Device was enabled on the iPad, you could try to find it using the iCloud.com web site. Otherwise there is no way to find it.
You need to change all your online passwords immediately; notify the airport at which it went missing from your luggage (assuming it was at an airport); notify the police; notify your insurance company so you can get reimbursed and buy a new one; move on.
