Lost Apple TV remote. Now how do I control it? This is a complex situation.

I'm at college and I lost the Apple TV remote to my Apple TV 2.
Here's my situation.
I can turn on the Apple TV, but I never connected my Apple TV to the school's network so I'm not able to use the remote app on my iPhone to control it. I plugged in the ethernet port on the Apple TV to the Thunderbolt Ethernet port on my Macbook. This gave the Apple TV internet(thank you Mac hotspot feature) allowing me to get past the "Setting Time and Zone" page that appears first. Now, the Apple TV is at the home screen. I can use the airplay feature on my mac to send stuff to my Apple TV and that work fines. However, when I connect my iPhone to the same network as my computer(my MacBook is sharing that connection with Apple TV), my Apple TV does not show up in the Remote app. So I can't find a way to control it with the Remote app.
So, how can I control my Apple TV, which is stuck on the home screen?
Can I buy another Apple TV remote or universal remote and get it to pair with this Apple TV without having to go to the pair remote page?
I need to find some way to control this thing without having any control of it right now.
Doesn't Apple have some kind of feature for this type of situation, or is my Apple TV now useless?
Any ideas?

borrow the remote from the neighbors kid Eric that he got with his appletv or imac or macbook or the likes it works
or buy a new remote it works
borrow Erics remote and use it to setup remote app on an ios device that works too

If I'm understanding correctly, you have an Apple TV 2 (the small, black box version of the Apple TV), and downloaded the Remote App from the iTunes Store for your iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad, correct? If so...
For the AppleTV setup, hook it up to your television and, if applicable, your Surround Sound system. To do this, you'll use an HDMI cable (not included, available here) to hook the AppleTV to your Television. The cable only fits one way, and should slide effortlessly into place. If, and only if, you intend to use your surround sound system with the AppleTV, you will also need what's called a TOSLINK Optical Cable (also not included, available here). This cable goes from the AppleTV to a port labelled Optical In or Digital In on the back of your surround receiver (consult the manual that came with your surround sound system for additonal help).
From here on, we'll focus on hooking up the AppleTV, then how to setup the Remote App from Apple on your iOS device.
The AppleTV needs a network connection in order to function correctly. A wired connection is recommended, but Wi-Fi is built-in to the AppleTV if a wired connection isn't available. With the AppleTV plugged into your television, follow the on-screen instructions for setup. To connect the AppleTV to your Wi-Fi network, you'll need to know the name of the network you want to connect to, as well as any password needed to connect to it. When the AppleTV has a network connection, it'll load the latest selection of TV Shows, Movies and Music for display on the main menu - that's the easiest way to tell everything's working.
For the Remote App, all you need to do is download the free application to a compatible iOS device (Any iOS device running iOS 3.1.2 or higher). Once downloaded, go to the computer hosting your iTunes library, and turn on Home Sharing. Finally, start the Remote App on your iOS device (be it iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch), login with the same information you setup Home Sharing with, and away you go! The Remote App is entirely optional, since the AppleTV can be controlled by the included remote control, but it's a nice touch nonetheless.

Thank you for the help. Every app on my phone was downloaded using my old I-tunes ID. I just hope that they will re-download under my new ID because I still can't change it on my phone. In order to change to the new ID it says I have to sign out from the old ID and change to the new one. My problem is that I don't remember my password to be able to sign out from my old ID. Then the phone says it can change my password through e-mail and I agree but I never get an e-mail at my old address or the new one.

Lost my remote, now how do I use a new one?

I lost my Apple TV remote. I have another remote from my Mac Mini. How can I use the Mac Mini remote on ATV? What is the procedure?
1. Do I need to unpair it from the Mac Mini first? The ATV and the Mac mini are in different rooms at opposite ends of the house.
2. My ATV is now in screen saver mode and without a paired remote I cannot go to the menu. So, how can I unpair the original remote before I try pairing the new one?
3. To pair the remote, do I just press the Menu+Next/FFW buttons together for 6 secs until I see the linked icon on the screen?

You don't need to unpair it from the mac mini, just unpair the old Appletv remote using the mini's one.

Also, if you have an IP, there is a "Remote" app that will work. However, to set it up, I think you will need the white remote. Go into setting or whatever the last menu on the right is called, then select Remote and setup the IP. Good backup to have in case you lose the white remote.

I'm afraid no one can help you. You don't restore an iPhone with an Apple ID. The ID you are seeing belongs to whoever originally activated the iPhone, not your children. Without the help of the previous owner you will not be able to activate and use the phone.

Well, they (Junk Mail) really keep "re-inventing" themselves...
A while back I kept getting blank junk emails with no sender... so it was easy, someone from this Discussion thought me to create a rule whereby the 'Sender' field is lack of an "@", and that filters it to Junk.
Now, I am getting junk mail with no subject heading...
How can I filter this off directly as junk??

Hi thanks for the reply. I have used SpamSieve before together with Entourage before I switched (back) to Mail; Then because Entourage has a "weaker ability" to do a better job in filtering Junk than Mail, which supposed to have a on-going learning experience in handling junk.
I thought if properly "train" or configure, Mail will handle this on its own without "any external help", I hope this is still so, 'cause at this point I would not want to engage in another external spam filter.

Place the iPod in recovery mode after the firmware download is complete and then restore using the instructions in the article. Sometimes recovery mode timeouts and returns to disabled before the firmware download is complete.
