Lost Application Data

I’m new to this whole application thing so please forgive my ignorance.  I just downloaded version 6.0 and lost all data that was stored in two of my applications.  The application I’m concerned about is a baby feeding record by Vimukti.  The app is still there but I lost the child’s profile and the details I’ve stored about his feedings.  A restore (of a backup that was created prior to the update) did not return the data.  What did I do wrong and is there any way to get this data back???

If not, it still doesn't fix the transfer purchases issue. Does that have something to do with the fact that I switched phones?
Transferring the app does not include the app's data.
I get that, perhaps these are two issues. I transferred the purchases of about 20 apps and one actually transferred to my computer. Tried it twice, synched with the old laptop to put the apps back in between attempts.

  • Sigh--- lost application data upon update to 2.1

Hi. I just made the 'mistake' of updating my software this evening.
I am now experienced in the frustration of "I've lost my application data!".
But only on SOME apps. The other ODD thing is: I just did a safety sync moments before the update.
I tried to do a restore and the only backup was listed as 09/09/08... wrong!
Anyway, now my very important To-Do app is totally empty. As is my expense-tracker app.
Is Apple not "on this" issue of lost data? I'm no programmer, but how @&R%(*@# hard is it to have user data backed up through iTunes?
    "GOSH!"

I also experienced complete loss of sound/volume from my iPad's speakers following upgrade to iOS 8.1.3 yesterday. This happened in three apps - Music, Bloomberg app's inbuilt text-to-voice reader and iPad's inbuilt text-to-voice reader.
The issue resolved after I re-booted the iPad. I now have sound being emitted (and volume control) from the iPad speakers :).

  • Lost all data on computer, want to sync back from iPhone

Hello, first of all thank you very much for helping me, and sorry for my bad english.
I have a iphone3g which connects to windows Xp trough an itunes 9.0.2.
    My problem is:
I had to format my hard disk so I've lost my itunes libray and all files wich were included it. By the way I've reinstalled the iTunes. I've found an older libray and sat it up iTunes to use that folder/libray.
The only problem is that this libray has an 50% diference that my iPhone has. I mean the half of the files (music, movie, calendar etc.) are different. I noticed it when i connected my iPhone to the iTunes, because iTunes wanted to replace all my sings and applications on my iPhone as it is on the (old) libray. I've noticed it and disconnected my iPhone from the CP.
I've tired to create a new fresh empty libray and copy all my media from my iPhone to the new libray. But it said the iPhone could be connected just one lbray. (Which seems to be my "old"libray.) I dosnet want to connect my iPhone to the old libray because it will cause the loss of the half of my songs. I neither cant find the libray which is the same as the one on my iPhone nor copy my songs to a new libray.
My songs were not imported to the itunes libray folder but were on their own place. It means that I have not lost my data, just the configuration (playlist, rateing, playcount, wich files were selected to add to the itunes, !applications! , etc.)
Oh yes, there is an other thing. My newly bought applications were synced to the lost libray, and they could not be found in the "old" one, just on my iPhone. But as i said, I can not connect my iPhone to a new libray.
I hope I've described it well, and you can help me please.
    Waiting for your answer.

This user tip is very helpful and the instructions are easy to understand. Read it and do what it instructs you to do and you should be good to go.

  • How do I get my application data back after OS upgrade?

First I tried to update to iOS 5.1.1 by downloading the .ipsw file from Apple and shift-clicking the Update button. I got Unknown Error 3014, which apparently is a known error and is to do with contacting the Apple server. So I tried again, and this time the iPad got stuck in the "Connected to iTunes" screen, and I searched online and found that the only real way out of this is to do a Factory Restore to iOS 6. Oh well, I would have to put up with the new Maps app but that isn't too bad.
So I did that, then I selected to restore"Phil's iPad" onto it, but my machine ran out of disk space. I cleared up some space, and got it to restore again, but I think that what happened in between was that it automatically backed up and synced the new half-restored state to my PC. So when I came to restore it, it only restored half of it. Since I had iTunes set up to sync every time I connect, the system that keeps the most recent three backups had deleted all the backups that were of any use and all I ended up with are three backup states that are all missing my application data. All my game progress is now gone, all my photos and home videos, all contacts, notes, all gone and I think gone for ever.
Any idea whether it's possible to get all my stuff back?

All apps and media should be in iTunes on your computer, if you've failed to transfer purchases from the device to iTunes it is possible to download past purchases.
    Downloading past purchases from iTunes
Contacts and calendars are in whatever application on the computer or cloud service you have configured them to sync with.
Pictures and videos taken with the device are designed to be copied off to the computer regularly.
Frankly, it is not very smart to rely on a device that can be so easily lost, stolen, or damaged as sole storage of your imporant data, I'd dare say it is boarding on completely moronic.

  • Lost iWeb Data

When I installed Leopard, I had to do a clean install. I was building a site in the iWeb 2006 and had saved it on an external disk. I'm concerned I lost the data. If I open iWeb 2006 on the external disk itself, it comes up blank. However in the ext. disk->user ->library ->application support ->iWeb folder, I found "Document," (BLDocument Native Domain) which holds 500MB of data. But when I copied it to my computer disk Applications Folder, nothing changed in iWb 09.
    Any insight on this?

Just to update, fortunately, my wife had a copy of the 2006 iWeb in her Mac with most of the data in it. So I copy pasted from that into 09. It's possible that most of the work I did had not been backed up. Lucky me.

And what did you expect when you delete all logfiles? Of course this will lead to the loss of committed data.
The phenomenon that the instance keeps on running for quite a while is because you are on *IX and only rm'd the files, so that the database still had a handle on them.
This was often reported from those B&R test cases. Better way to actually destroy the files is an

  • Ability to Backup Application data?

I'm one of those iPhone users who have random problems often and need to restore maybe 3 or 5 times a week just to get a working product
I'd be lucky to last maybe 6 days without my iPhone displaying that No Content in the iPod problem and the only solution is to restore
So I was wondering if iTunes will get the ability to backup all my application data because I would really love it if some of my applications wouldn't start all over once I restore my phone
I've lost countless amounts of data over this issue and was just wondering if there was ANY way to backup some of my data?

I assume some of the answers I might receive involve backing up the data through iTunes, but I shut that feature off because of some corrupt data backups and the 8 hour long backups I was getting
And I'm just going to guess this is probably the only way to do it so please disregard my question unless you have other techniques?

  • Is application data backed up during Sync?

A first generation iPhone and ITunes (8.02-20) on an iMac (10.5-6).
I bought an app called To Do's and use it. I would be in trouble if I lost the data. The application syncs, but does iTunes backup the data that I have put into To Do's? How can I verify the backup was successful? Can I view the To Do on the iMac? Even if the data was in text only at least I would have something in case of disaster. Is such a backup application dependent?

  • Contacts lost all data suddenly.

My Contacts lost all data suddenly today. I upgraded to 10.8.2 this afternoon. Could that have caused it?  Can I do to retrieve my data?

I found the hidden data file but get messge "There is no application set to open the document "AddressBook.data." and I have not been able to choose one that works.
My latest attempt was to go to ~library/Application Support/addressbook. Instuctions said to remove "AddressBook.data" and "AddressBook.data.previous" to another spot for safety, then copy "AddressBook.data.previous" back into the file.  Nothing happened.
    Any other ideas?

  • Lost Synch Data

I had a poor internet connection so I was unable to update itunes on my laptop using APPLE SOFTWARE UPDATE - which fails if there are interuptions in your signal. Instead I downloaded the new itunes from apple.com and installed it - not realizing that it would lose all of my iphone synch data. Now I have my iphone filled with dozens of games that I have progressed partially through and books on Stanza and Kindle. I don't want to lose the progress I have made on my games - but if I synch it tells me it will wipe my iphone. I have saved all of the games and apps I own back to my machine. But I just want to be sure that if I synch it and then load the backup, my app data and progress in my games and all of my books in Stanza will not be lost. Otherwise, I don't know what to do because it would take a LONG time to regenerate everything.
It would be MUCH better if Apple would let us synch to any of our authorized 5 computers without wiping the iphone everytime, but that would make life too easy...
    Thank you

    Welcome to the discussions,
You'll have to back up manually. All 3rd party data is stored in the backup made by iTunes. More info on the content here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
To back up manually, disable autosync in iTunes/settings/devices. After that connect your phone, right click on it in the device list and choose "backup". A backup without the sync process will be created.
To be sure that your apps are copied as well, right click again, this time choose "transfer purchases".
After your phone got wiped due to the new setup, use the manual backup to restore from.
To be sure your backup does not get overwritten, copy the backup folder to a save location, you can find it here:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

  • Lost desktop data

Can someone please help on retrieving lost data?
I have lost data that was on my desktop calendar application. I don't have the Palm TX anymore but use the desktop software "Palm Desktop by Access".  I have lost most of the data that was on my Nov. and Dec. calendar months.  It does not appear data on any other months were lost.  My computer uses Windows Vista.  Thanks
    Post relates to: Palm TX

If you don't do a regular hotsync with your TX to the PC you more than likely have lost the data. You can try to recover the data by using the following procedure.
You can recover the data from your user folder provided you have only sync'ed once with the PC when you discovered the data missing. When you sync to the PC there are files created for each PIM category in your user folder. For Example; datebook.dat or datebook (Depending on the version of Palm Desktop) and datebook.bak. On Vista the file names are .mdb and mdb.bak.
The files are named .dat and .bak. When you sync, the current data is stored in .dat. The next time you sync the data in the .dat file is copied to the .bak file. You can rename the .dat to .old. then rename the .bak to .dat. If the data in the .bak file is intact, it will now be in palm desktop when you reopen Palm desktop. I have included a link to show you how to find the userfolder on the PC.
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=26674
    Here is another link regarding data loss;
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=39503
The best way to backup your data is to use the export feature in Palm Desktop. Make a new folder on the PC desktop named Palm Desktop Backup data. Next, select the category you want to export. You will get a window that asks where you want to save the file, save in the folder created on the desktop. There is a button that allows you to select currently selected record or all, select all. If you don't select all, then only the record highlighted is exported. You will then need to name the file for export, I suggest the name of the category, eg: datebook (With current date). Do this for all critical data in each category. With the data exported to the folder on the PC desktop, you can save this data to a flash drive, external hard drive or a CD-RW. With this method you will have your data in a seperate place than Palm desktop and the device. If you "Lose" data again, you can import the data back into palm desktop.
Make sure that when you make changes in palm desktop or the device to export the data to the folder created for the backup.
    Here is a link for other options for backing up your data;
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=28751
The best way to preserve your data is to export the data in each category in Palm Desktop to a seperate folder on your PC.
Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that is convenient. Name it something like Palm Desktop Data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on that page for the export procedure.
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=28734
Make sure you select all for the range in the export window.
With the data saved in the folder you created, make a copy of that folder and save to a flash drive, cd-rw or external hard drive.
Anytime you make a change in Palm Desktop, export the data that was changed to that folder and save again to the external media.
With this process you can always import the data back into Palm Desktop anytime you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop or if your computer/hard drive/device crashes.

Since you say you cant see the back up in iTunes you should be able to see it when following the last step where it says for iTunes 10.7 or earlier. Dont worry as this step also works for iTunes 11.
