Lost audio volume Satellite A100 PSAARC-VA905C

I recently lost all sound in one speaker with my Satellite A100.
With headphones, I'm getting stereo sound, but at VERY low volume.
I've checked audio device drivers, RealTech HD Audio Drive Manager, and everything seems to be okay and up-to-date.
Help would be much appreciated.

I have a similar problem.
You can solve the problem in one of two ways, and I list them in the order I would recommend you try them:
1. Disable Driver Enhancements for your device.
Through control panel, double click on sound. You should receive a prompt asking you if you want to disable Driver Enhancements. Click yes. Restart. Done.
If this doesnt work, try
2. Install vista drivers direct from Realtek.
Realtek has new drivers available for High Def Audio. They can be found at:
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/
Click on High Definition Audio Codecs
Select under windows, Vista Driver (32/64 bits) Driver only (ZIP file) and select one of the mirrors and download the file (Warning: Takes a long time!)
Under control panel, through device manager, uninstall your realtek audio device.
Restart.
When Vista detects the new device, just click cancel.
Open the Zip file, find Setup.exe and install. Done.
Yep. Done!
Good luck and let me know how you get on.
Cheers

  • Re: Satellite A100-033 PSAANE: Realtek Stereo Mix Audio has become "Lost"

Following an encouraging reply to a forum question, I have replaced the original 60G hard drive in my Toshiba Satellite A100-033 PSAANE with a 500G drive.
All is well, except that I no longer have "Stereo Mix Realtek High Definition Audio" in the Recording tab in the Sound option in Control Panel.
It means that I can't record any sound at all, if I try to capture sound, for example using NCH's Debut Video Capture Software.
If I replace the original 60G drive, Realtek Stereo Mix is there and I can record okay. If I plug in my external sound card, I can record sound with that. If (in my new 500G drive) I look at Device Manager in Control Panel, Realtek High Definition Audio is listed under Sound Video & Game Controllers. So it looks like the correct driver is there okay. But somehow it isn't recognised under Sound in Control Panel, and it can't be used by the software which requires it.
It may be a simple problem but it's baffling me. Can anyone help?

Thanks for the suggestions. I used the genuine Toshiba recovery disc. Actually, I have discovered what the problem was. In control panel (home) - hardware and sound - sound - recording, if you right click inside the box, you get the option to show disabled devices and disconnected devices. My Realtek drivers were shown as disabled. Once I ticked to show disabled drivers, my Realtek was shown, and I could then select it as default. It's not something which is at all obvious, but I will try to remember it for next time.

  • Satellite A100-532: microphone sound volume is extremely low

I just bought Satellite A100-532 and I have a problem with sound input. I can't use microphone to chat with my friend on msn or even to record my voice on to the hard drive because the sound volume is extremely low.
I tried turning up all the volume on the desktop and on the RealTek HD sound manager but did not help. Microphone is working perfectly fine as I can hear myself well on the speakers.
Normally, with my old laptop (M30 series) I could use the Sound Recorder to record music which I play using Winamp or WinMediaPlayer but for this new laptop it does not detect any sound at all..just silence.
    Please advise.

    Hi
You should check also the volume controls in the "Sound & Audio devices" in control panel.
In the "Volume" tab please go to "Advanced".
Then a "Volume control" should appear.
Check if all controls are set to high level.
Furthermore enter the "options" and "properties" and enable all volume controls.
Change also to "recording" and enable there also all controls.
Additional you should check if the all "recording controls" are set to high.
Use "Advanced" option of mic and play around with the mic boost settings.
I'm sure you will find the best settings for your mic recording

  • Recording from an audio cassette into digital format on a Satellite A100

I want to record old music tracks from an audio cassette into mp3 format or similar. I have downloaded Audacity software but don't know if I can actually set up a line-in connection from my cassette player to my Toshiba Satellite A100. Is this possible via the micophone connection? Are there alternative ways of arranging this via one of the USB ports?
If anyone has suggestions I would be interested to read them.
    Thanks
    Ken

    Hello Ken
If you want to do this on professional way you need right stuff for doing this. A friend of mine has bought some package to digitalize old gramophone records. He bought some external device and special software.
I can really do not remember the name of this product but I know it was connected over USB port. The gramophone or, in your case, cassette player must be connected to this external device.
Google little bit around and you will find many good products for these purposes. In my opinion the MIC port is not the best solution.

  • Satellite A100: Windows won't boot - Unmountable Boot Volume

My son has a Satellite A100 running Windows XP SP3. Windows doesn't get past the Windows logo screen and terminates with an +Unmoutable Boot Volume+ message.
After this has happened, the HDD password status in BIOS is +HDD password froze+. Note that the HDD does not have a user password set.
What is happening here and how is it fixed?

Well, I persevered with Recovery Console and fixed the problem with the Fixboot and Fixmbr commands. It appears that viruses had corrupted the boot sector or master boot record, making the remainder of the Windows partition unusable. Once these were repaired, all the directories and files were still intact and usable.
Interestingly, there is a hit for a similar problem on the Microsoft Windows XP help, but their solution is more complicated.

  • Satellite A100-920 - Audio driver problem - Win XP Pro

    Hello all,
I am having an issue with an audio driver. I can't seem to find one that works anywhere, I have looked at multiple forums and the Toshiba website for suitable drivers with no success. I've basically hit a wall, so hopefully someone can provide a working solution. :)
    Audio device:
Device: 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller
    Manufacturer: Intel
(Details retrieved using a Ubuntu 9.04 Live CD)
Although a windows system labels it as "Realtek High Definition Audio Controller"? (I'm no expert with drivers, so maybe thats a stupid question...) :)
The computer is a Toshiba Satellite A100-920 (PSAA9E) running Windows XP Professional.
I have spent hours trying to solve this so I'm hoping this is the last mile. :) Thanks to anyone with any suggestions.
    Best regards,
    Alan

    Hi
The sound driver is designed by Realtek!!!! So its a Realtek sound chip!
You need the Realtek sound driver and you can find it on the Toshiba European driver page as well!
    You need also the SP3!
But the point is that SP3 has to be installed before sound driver!!!
If you have already installed the sound driver then remove it (uninstall).
You should also access the device manger and should remove the sound card from the device list!
Then reboot the notebook and after that install the Realtek sound driver again!!!

  • Cannot record audio from wave on Satellite A100-PSAA9

Why I can not record realtime Audio Conference with the included RealTec Driver on my Toschiba A100?
Record Options given just, "Microphone-Line In-CD" but Wave is Missing, why?
I have another Notebook from Asus with RealTec Driver and there is it possible, on my Toshiba not, why?

    Dear all,
I've read so many posts where people want to record music they hear on their Satellite Notebooks (either wave, or sounds from the internet) and it seems that cornelius solved the "realtec driver" problem - that doesn't meen that it's really a problem of realtec - (where there are only three mixer categories) quite well. But I tried a little - because I don't want to spend 30$ for a new driver and found a cheaper solution (finally I hope, it works at least on my Satellite A100-PSAA9).
    What you need is:
first, a program that may record your sounds to mp3 or wave or whatever, I use No23Recorder - but there are lots of other programs working very well. Second you need to buy (mine cost 1) a jack plug (in german: Klinkenstecker) with one male and two female slots. Third, a stereo cable with one jack plug at each end of it (2)
Than you can start recording by putting the jack plug into the headphone slot of your Notebook; than putting the stereo cable into one of the female slots of the jack plug and the other one into the microphone slot of your Notebook. To listen to the things you want to record, put a headset into the free slot of the jack plug - and start recording ;-) !
So if you have enough money and you don't like a bit of cable salad, than I suggest you choose cornelius's way. If you are a poor student like me, perhaps you should try mine?
    Cheers, Kat

  • Problems with various professional soundcards and Satellite A100

    Hi All,
I bought a Satellite A100 less than a year ago and have had problems with 2 different professional soundcards when using Cubase.
    - M-Audio firewire solo plugged into Texas Instruments PCMCIA card
    - Echo Indigo io (PCMCIA card)
I'm running Windows XP and Cubase SE/SX3. When running Cubase, there are cracks, sound stops for a few milliseconds.
I've never had any problems with my old Toshiba Satellite Pro A40 notebook. This is very disappointing and frustrating. I only use my new Toshiba for the Internet!!
    Could someone help?
    Cheers,
    Fred

This info helped me to overcome the dreaded glitch last year.
But I have lost wireless networking on my A100 which is very annoying :-S
    See below.
But not to my knowledge has there been proper acknowledgement of this problem by Toshiba (please prove me wrong on this Toshiba right now!!!)

    Hi A,
    Sorry for not responding sooner.
The way I changed the driver was -
    Open Device Manager
    Click the '+' at 'Computer'
Right click on the 'ACPI Multiprocessor PC' entry and select 'Update Driver...'
When the Device Driver Wizard comes up, select 'No, Not This Time' when it asks if 'Windows can connect to Windows update to search for software', then click Next
On the next screen, select 'Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)' and click Next
On the next screen, select 'Don't seach. I will choose the driver to install' and click Next
Then you'll get a list of drivers, select MPS Multiprocessor PC (assuming your laptop is Dual Core) then Next
After that, follow any other instructions - I can only give you a step by step guide this far otherwise I'll end up re-installing the driver on my working laptop (I was just working through it and noting down the steps). I'd back up any data you have beforehand aswell - I didn't lose anything when I did it but it's better to be safe.
When I did this procedure, I had to reinstall a lot, if not all, of my drivers - most were picked up by Windows but the odd one or two needed the drivers from the Toshiba website, I can't remember exactly which ones but it wasn't too painful. Everything works fine now, including the Wireless connection.
Hopefully this will work OK for your laptop - it's not the exact same model I have so you may get different results but all the best anyway!
    Cheers.

  • Need WXP drivers for Satellite A100 (PSAA9)

    Hiya,
I've had to re-install Windows XP on my laptop. I don't have the Toshiba drivers CD though.
So I came here to get the drivers but I've no idea which driver goes with which hardware in my Device Manager.
Here's what I need the drivers for under Device Manager...
    Ethernet Controller
    Mass Storage Controller
    Network Controller
    PCI Device
    PCI Device (again)
    SM Bus Controller
Can anyone advise which specific driver I need for each?
    Many thanks,
    James

  • Need wireless drivers for Satellite A100-259

    Hi
Had to reformat my daughters laptop (A100-259 PSAA2) due to virus issues and am in the process of rebuilding it. Almost there but can't seem to get the wireless bit to work. Nothing appears in the system tray even when it's switched on (little switch on the right has the light on). I assume because i've reinstalled XP that i need to reinstall the wireless drivers but i can't seem to find them on the toshiba web site (http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK). It only shows the Atheros management utility.
Any advice would be greatly appreciate especially as i'm pretty new to this kind of stuff and she has lost the manual that came with the laptop.
    many thanks
    Norrie

    Hi!
I dont know why no WLAN drivers are available for this A100 model and Windows XP but you can search for an other A100 model (for example Satellite A100 PSAA8).
Then you will find an Atheros WLAN driver for Windows XP and it should also work.

  • Windows vista issues on Satellite A100-036

Hi. I have a Toshiba satellite A100-036 laptop with windows vista home basic 32 bit and I have the following problems.
1.They replace me the hard disk at a store. I only have the Toshiba recovery dvd that I used to format the windows. They told me that I can't use it any more because the restore partition of the disk is lost. If I want to do a format again what do I have to do?
    2. Every time I turn on the laptop the touchpad scrolling doesn't work. I go to control panel > mouse and it shows me this message: "Unable to connect to synaptics pointing device driver. If you have installed another PS/2 pointing device driver please unistall the synaptics driver by clicking on the yes button. You then need to reinstall your pointing device driver for your external device again. Do you want to unistall the synaptics driver now?" I click No and after that it works again and the synaptics pointing device icon appear again in the task bar. If I restart the laptop it doesn't work again and I have to do the same things.
    3. Every time I turn on the laptop the bluetooth doesn't work and the bluetooth icon doesn't appear in the task bar. I have to go to device manager, unistall the driver, go to control panel > bluetooth local com and it works again. Every time I turn on the laptop I have to do this.
    4. Every time I turn on the laptop the security center is turned off and I have to turn it on or the automatic updates are off and I have to turn them on.
    5. Some times it doesn't install the automatic updates and it shows me the error code 8000FFFF.
    Could anybody help me? Thanks.

If you have created the Toshiba Recovery Disk in the past, you can use it in connection with new HDD. The Toshiba Recovery Disk would set the notebook back to factory settings which mean that you will get installed Windows system, Toshiba drivers and additional software.
    >2. Every time I turn on the laptop the touchpad scrolling doesn't work. I go to control panel > mouse and it shows me this message: "Unable to connect to synaptics pointing device driver. Go to Toshiba EU driver page and download the Synaptics touchpad driver. Install the touchpad driver and reboot the notebook. Usually this should fix your issue.

This is strange. Usually the BT should work if BT stack was installed properly. Please note that you have to enable the BT using FN key (FN+F8). This combination enables and disables the WLan too. So ensure you did it correctly.

  • How to connect external speakers to Satellite A100-451

    Hello,
I have a Satellite A100-451 (UK) running Vista. I want to connect external speakers. There is a 'headphones' jack on the front (3.5mm jack I think), can I connect external speakers here? The speakers are 'PC Line' with their own power supply and also have a 3.5mm jack plug).
    Thanks
    KK

You need the audio Line-out put and the headphone jack provides this output.
In other words you can use this jack to connect the external speakers

  • Repair using Recovery Disc for Satellite A100

Is it possible to do a *Repair* on my Toshiba Satellite A100-049 using the Recovery Disc that came with the laptop
    Regards

    Hi Dr Lamp,
It started about a week ago, when I think I had problems with the Malware /Virus "Fake Alert" where a meesage kept coming up saying I needed to repair or words to the effect. I then lost my desktop and my folders were empty in the start menu, and the screen was black.
I ran McaFee antivirus, Malwarebytes and Super AntiSpyware. I then ran Unhide and rKill. I got the desktop back with a couple of Word documents that would not open but the folders in the start menu where either ok files missing or empty.
I now keep getting redirected when searching but not always, also when I switch the laptop on Photshop opens up as though it is trying to open a file up,there is a message appears Photshop cannot open this kind of document.
The only program I have set to open on start up is McAfee.
I have tried a few system restores with the same result.
After system restore the laptop seems to start up ok, but the next time it is started Photoshop opens again.
I seem to be going round in circles, I really don't want to use the Restore option if at al possible.

I was able to perform a reset and got the audio to partially work: Sound does play but only if I have headsets plugged into the iTouch.
