Lost Backup Data

I did a restore to my Iphone on my desktop (I primarily sync and backup with my Laptop) I realise now I probably should have done it(restore) with my Laptop.
So I synced on the Desktop. And did a Restore.
When it had finished and asked me to backup, I think I must have chosen "Ipad 2 Backup" Either way my ipad apps started dragging over. and I stopped it. I then looked for my "Seb Iphone" Backup, But it is not there. a new one called "Iphone" is there. Freaking out so much! Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
Have done some googling and have found that the backup data is stored at
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
The "Seb Iphone" backup is actually wiped away from both computers. I can't believe it.

Where are you checking for those backups?
Check in Edit -> Preferences -> Devices and check for backups there
or on mac iTunes -> Preferences -> Devices

    Sorry Raj,
If you did not back up your information, and you have now restored your phone, then your information is not recoverable.

  • HT3529 I have lost all data on my iphone and the back-up is too old. How can I restore iMessage chats on my iPhone 4? I have all the chats on my Mac, but there seems to be no sync function from Mac to iphone. Please advice.

    Hi,
I have lost all data on my iphone by mistake. I needed to restore the phone and I didnt realize my back-up was 1yr old, and now the phone is restored and I've got a year old contact list and iMessage chat history. Luckily my iMessage on the Mac is still valid and has all the chat history. My question is how can I restore iMessage chats on my iPhone 4 from my Mac? I have all the chat history on my Mac, but there seems to be no sync function from Mac to iphone. Please advice.

If things seem to be going haywire with your phone, it seems that it MAY be a software issue.
Now, that being said, that does not necessarily mean that it is a virus. Software issues do happen sometimes. It is probably just coincidence.
What you need to do is restore the device using iTunes. This will fix any software issues. After you have done this, you can restore from an iCloud backup.
iCloud does not back up the actual software, so no, the "virus" would not have gotten into the backups.
The link below provides steps on restoring your device using iTunes as well as how to restore from an iCloud backup.

Don't worry! Everything should be back to normal if you follow these steps.

  • How to restore iTunes library in Leopard from a specific backup date?

I want to restore my iTunes Library from a specific backup date. I am using OS X Leopard and can't go back to the specific date in TimeMachine. What I do?

The backups were made, bro. It happens that I did the backups with Snow Leopard, but I had to reformat my iMac and restore it to its factory settings. I am currently using Leopard and I am waiting for Apple to deliver me a copy of Snow Leopard because I have lost my copy and can't upgrade. But all the backups were made, I used to check everyday to see if all files were there. I can see all the backup dates on Time Machine but when I click on them they don't display.

Restore the iPhone from your backup.
    See this -> http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
Then make sure you sync everything to your computer so you do not lose it.

  • Partition with Disk Utility in 10.7, Lost All Data on Drive

    All,
I partitioned a 2TB drive with DiskUtility.  Partition 1: 1.99TB, Paritition 2: 1GB.  Lost all data Partition 1.  Two years of family photos, videos, business communications and files, time machine backups, are gone.  What to do?
The solution I have so far: downloaded "Wondershare Data Recovery," followed instructions, it is scanning drive.  Does anyone else have any experience with capabale softwares to use for this purpose?  How about some professional data recovery centers accross the US where I can mail in my drive, and they do the rest?
In general, what do I do?

  • I lost My Data from Plam Desktop application while updating the software Plzz HELP

    Hello
I Lost all my Data that was in Palm Desktop applicaton on my PC. I no Longer have my Palm device BUT data was in desktop application. Today I tried to upgrade my Palm Desktop version from 4.2 to 6 and I lost all my files is there a way to recover them.
    Thanks,

You can recover the data from your user folder provided you have only sync'ed once with the PC when you discovered the data missing. When you sync to the PC there are files created for each PIM category in your user folder. For Example; datebook.dat or datebook (Depending on the version of Palm Desktop) and datebook.bak. Using 6.2 the file names are .mdb and mdb.bak. For 6.2, the files are located in the username folder in PalmOSdesktop in my documents.
The files are named .dat and .bak. When you sync, the current data is stored in .dat. The next time you sync the data in the .dat file is copied to the .bak file. You can rename the .dat to .old. then rename the .bak to .dat. If the data in the .bak file is intact, it will now be in palm desktop when you reopen Palm desktop. I have included a link to show you how to find the userfolder on the PC.

The best way to backup your data is to use the export feature in Palm Desktop. Make a new folder on the PC desktop named Palm Desktop Backup data. Next, select the category you want to export. You will get a window that asks where you want to save the file, save in the folder created on the desktop. There is a button that allows you to select currently selected record or all, select all. If you don't select all, then only the record highlighted is exported. You will then need to name the file for export, I suggest the name of the category, eg: datebook (With current date). Do this for all critical data in each category. With the data exported to the folder on the PC desktop, you can save this data to a flash drive, external hard drive or a CD-RW. With this method you will have your data in a seperate place than Palm desktop and the device. If you "Lose" data again, you can import the data back into palm desktop.
Make sure that when you make changes in palm desktop or the device to export the data to the folder created for the backup.
    Here is a link for other options for backing up your data;
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=28751
If you can find your missing files, you will need to install the version of PD you previously had installed and paste the files in that version. Any palm files previous to 6.2 will not work in 6.2. The files in 6.2 are in a different file format.
One caveat here, since you do not sync a device, the files are not rotated as they would be during the sync process. The only option you may have avail. is the data in the .dat files.
The best way to preserve your data is to export the data in each category in Palm Desktop to a seperate folder on your PC.
Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that is convenient. Name it something like Palm Desktop Data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on that page for the export procedure.
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=28734
Make sure you select all for the range in the export window.
With the data saved in the folder you created, make a copy of that folder and save to a flash drive, cd-rw or external hard drive.
Anytime you make a change in Palm Desktop, export the data that was changed to that folder and save again to the external media.
With this process you can always import the data back into Palm Desktop anytime you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop or if your computer/hard drive/device crashes.

  • Lost ALL DATA after OS update on MAC.

Coming back from Walt Disney World with my daughter during the holidays.  Took some nice pictures with my BB Curve 8530.  Once back home, try to download all the picture on my macbook using the desktop manager.  Plugged my BB using the provided cable, then immediately was proposed to update my device software.  So the update go on.  Took a while and finally was asked to restore my data on the device, which of course I accepted.  Took about a quarter of a second, then done!  So unplugged the device from the computer and surprise!  Nothing, Nada, Zero...  All my contacts, media, email, everything was wiped very clean.  I'm kind of furious.
I've done some research over several forum it append to A LOT of people.  Some were lucky enough to find a backup file on there system, but nothing on mine searching with spotlight.
RIM as no right at all to erase all the data on my device.  I was never warned and I never accepted the risk associated with that update.
I'm asking for a solution to get back all my data.

    i'm having the same problem!
i finally got around to upgrading to IOS5 last night and also got an error whilst restoring the back up. I also assumed the date would be there.
now i've restored my phone all apps etc have returned to phone but lost all data from them, ive lost all my contacts and diary appointments etc.
    Nightmare!
how do i get it back???? any help would be appreciated

  • HT4759 Hi iv added iCloud to my iPhone 5 and doing so I've managed to wipe all contacts photos and now can't use IMessage, I went to backup and chose the wrong backup date, please can someone help me restore my phone back to how it was before I added iClo

Hi iv added iCloud to my iphone5 and by doing so I've now lost all contacts, photos and also my iMessage please can someone help me to restore my phone back to how it was before doing this? I went to backup and chose wrong backup date and I'm now stuck. This is driving me mad PLEASE someone help??

As far as I know you can't delete the primary email address for an iCloud account.  It's assigned when the account is created.  But your neighbor wouldn't have been able to get into your iCloud account without your Apple ID and password.  Are you sure the account wasn't still on your phone when you gave it to him?
You could migrate a copy of your data to a new iCloud account but I would still be concerned that someone else was using my old account, which presumably still has your data in it.
I'm fairly certain that you're going to have to have iCloud support help you sort this one out as they may have the ability to make changes to an existing account that users can't.  Make an appointment with the genius bar at a nearby Apple store and have them take a look at it.  If necessary, they should be able to contact iCloud support for you.

  • Lost desktop data

Can someone please help on retrieving lost data?
I have lost data that was on my desktop calendar application. I don't have the Palm TX anymore but use the desktop software "Palm Desktop by Access".  I have lost most of the data that was on my Nov. and Dec. calendar months.  It does not appear data on any other months were lost.  My computer uses Windows Vista.  Thanks

If you don't do a regular hotsync with your TX to the PC you more than likely have lost the data. You can try to recover the data by using the following procedure.

  • Lost Application Data

I’m new to this whole application thing so please forgive my ignorance.  I just downloaded version 6.0 and lost all data that was stored in two of my applications.  The application I’m concerned about is a baby feeding record by Vimukti.  The app is still there but I lost the child’s profile and the details I’ve stored about his feedings.  A restore (of a backup that was created prior to the update) did not return the data.  What did I do wrong and is there any way to get this data back???

Transferring the app does not include the app's data.
I get that, perhaps these are two issues. I transferred the purchases of about 20 apps and one actually transferred to my computer. Tried it twice, synched with the old laptop to put the apps back in between attempts.
