Lost bash startup script

Hi,
I am afraid I have a stupid question to post here...
I have lost a startup script that is invoked everytime I run my bash shell. This script starts a licence manager I no longer require or have, so everytime I run terminal an error message occurs. I could ignore this, as I get normal operation of the shell of course, however it is really annoying so I need to track down this file. I have tried using the grep command to recursively search through my harddrive for the appropriate invoking string. However to no avail.
When I login as another user then the script doesn't run, leading me to believe it is in my own home directory. However the usual ~/.bash_profile or ~/.bashrc are not present in my home directory.
Any tips would be appreciated.
PowerBook G4 1.5GHz Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Open the Terminal app then type the following:
grep ExecutionString ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Terminal.plist
If grep returns <key>ExecutionString</key> then the script is run by the Terminal's preference- com.apple.Terminal.plist. You can edit the preference removing the key and string value or trash your com.apple.Terminal.plist.

  • Ssh install on solaris core group installation - startup scripts?

    hi all,
    i have a fresh "core group" installation of solaris 11/06 now up and running.
    I have added the following pkg to get ssh running.
    bash-3.00# pkginfo |grep ssh
    system SUNWsshcu SSH Common, (Usr)
    system SUNWsshdr SSH Server, (Root)
    system SUNWsshdu SSH Server, (Usr)
    system SUNWsshr SSH Client and utilities, (Root)
    system SUNWsshu SSH Client and utilities, (Usr)
    so it is installed. I have manually created ssh_host_keys and I can start and use sshd/sftp -server. However I'm in need to find the best way of starting this up at boot. I have followed a link to Sun Blueprints for open ssh startup scripts.
    http://www.sun.com/blueprints/tools/ > secureshell-tools.tar.Z
    however this relies on prng (psuedo random number generator). my "default installation" of solaris 10 11/06 does not have this installed and ssh works fine, so I am reluctant to go down prng path.
    furthermore searching my "default installation" of solaris 10 11/06 i can not see any ssh startup scripts that I could heist
    please advise best practice

    fixed for now
    http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/content/selfheal/smf-quickstart.html > Enabling and disabling services
    since solaris 10, use "svcadm"
    ie
    mybox86# svcadm enable network/ssh:default
    very nice.

  • Startup Scripts for OBIEE 11g on Linux

    Hi, I originally spent many hours trying to find a startup/shutdown script for OBIEE on linux, in the end I compiled a new one based on notes in the install manual and other posts on the subject until I got it working consistantly
    Please add comments or improvements :)
    Note: you need to create the boot.properties file (in /security) for each server, and provide the username/password so WebLogic won't prompt for it when starting automatically (otherwise it doesn't start :p) ....refer to the install manual or [weblogic boot.properties|http://onlineappsdba.com/index.php/2010/08/21/weblogic-startup-prompting-from-username-password-bootproperties/]

    HI,
    Is this script for Enterprise Install on a single computer? For Simple install I think there is no concept of nodemanager and managedserver.

  • CC startup script to set Preference "Default Composer"?

    I have a startup script that I wrote for CS3 that controls about 20 preferences.
    One of the preferences was for Composer, which was by: app.textDefaults.composer = "Adobe Single-line Composer"
    This script has worked for CS 3, 5, 5.5, and 6 (we skipped 4)
    We're moving to CC and my script still works, but I see a new preference at Preferences > Advanced Type for "Default Composer"
    I get lost in ExtendScript's Object Model Viewer, so would someone be kind enough to tell me what to add to my startup script to set the Default Composer to Adobe Single-line Composer
    Thanks for your time
    Tom

    It seems to be related to app.textDefaults, but it seems to me that it's broken...

    Hi,
    thanks for your reply.
    I found the problem.
    In my script, i change this:
    # su - oracle -c "$ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbstart"
    by this and its work (without "-")
    # su oracle -c "$ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbstart"
    Thanks...

  • Undervolting startup scripts

    Hi all,
    it seems a lot of pentium-m processors (most notably banias and dothans) can safely be undervolted. The beyond kernel has the undervolting patch included to do that. I have written a small startup script that automatically undervolts the cpu when started and reverts it when stopped. It would be nice to include a bunch of possible suggestions for a variety of processors. There's a list of alleged safe voltages over at the gentoo wiki (OK, include normal disclaimers; nothing here is safe, your computer might crash and your dog might get raped if you run the scripts and undervolt your cpu). Anyway, what I'm trying to say is: what do you think? and what can I improve?
    The 753 cpu figures that I have are for my own cpu and they work fine so far. If anyone uses any other table they want to recommend for any other cpu, do tell.
    /etc/conf.d/undervolt
    # voltage table sysfs interface
    VTABLE_SYSFS="/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/voltage_table"
    # CPU type
    CPU_TYPE="753"
    #!/bin/bash
    . /etc/rc.conf
    . /etc/rc.d/functions
    . /etc/conf.d/undervolt
    # Will add various cases of CPU_TYPE in due time
    case "$CPU_TYPE" in
    715)
    VTABLE="700,700,764,812,924"
    753)
    VTABLE="828,796,764,732,716,700"
    VTABLE=`cat $VTABLE_SYSFS`
    esac
    case "$1" in
    start)
    stat_busy "Undervolting CPU"
    if [ -e $VTABLE_SYSFS ]; then
    cat $VTABLE_SYSFS > /tmp/undervolt.orig
    echo $VTABLE > $VTABLE_SYSFS
    add_daemon undervolt
    stat_done
    else
    echo "Cannot find $VTABLE_SYSFS. Make sure your running kernel is appropriately patched."
    stat_fail
    fi
    stop)
    stat_busy "Reverting to original volt table"
    if [ -e /tmp/undervolt.orig ]; then
    cat /tmp/undervolt.orig > $VTABLE_SYSFS
    rm_daemon undervolt
    stat_done
    else
    echo "You do not seem to have undervolted your CPU yet, cannot find /tmp/undervolt.orig"
    stat_fail
    fi
    echo "usage: $0 {start|stop}"
    esac

    Oh, alright, I see. The thing is that the VTABLES I've hardcoded are just VTABLES that people have reported as working well on those particular processors. There's a table of such user reported VTABLES at gentoo's wiki, and I've just used those.
    There's really no way to figure out how much a cpu could be undervolted and still function as expected. My ideas was to add some figures that people have tested and tie them to a CPU model that is entered in the conf file.  I've just added two CPU types but the idea is to add all of the entries that I can find at the gentoo wiki.
    My problem with tying various VTABLES to CPU models is that they might just crash the system anyhow, and that's not very good. Perhaps the VTABLES should be defined in the conf file and the CPU model case just skipped...? Something in the lines of this:
    # voltage table sysfs interface
    VTABLE_SYSFS="/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/voltage_table"
    # CPU type. DISCLAIMER: these VTABLES are reported to work well by some users
    # on the coresponding CPUs. They might not be safe for your system and might in worst
    # case scenarios cause hard crashes. It is advised that you use [some script] and mprime (?)
    # to test your new VTABLE.
    #VTABLE="828,796,764,732,716,700" # Pentium-M Ultra Low Voltage (600MHz - 1.2GHz), Model P-M 753
    #VTABLE="" # Add more CPU models
    #!/bin/bash
    . /etc/rc.conf
    . /etc/rc.d/functions
    . /etc/conf.d/undervolt
    case "$1" in

  • Systemd startup script - half of the commands run, half don't??

    i have a previous rc.local file which was a startup script on a router machine i have. it is designed to run tcpdump commands for the interfaces and output them to terminals tty9, tty10, and tty11. it worked perfectly...
    i have since transitioned to systemd. I followed wiki instructions to make a oneshot service file and have enabled it. here is the file: (/usr/lib/systemd/system/startup.service)
    [Unit]
    Description=Startup Script
    After=iptables.service
    [Service]
    Type=oneshot
    ExecStart=/etc/scripts/startup
    [Install]
    WantedBy=multi-user.target
    here is the script /etc/scripts/startup: (email addresses disquised)
    #!/bin/bash
    route add -net 10.11.12.0/24 gw 172.16.16.4
    /usr/sbin/tcpdump -pnq -i external >> /dev/tty11 &
    /usr/sbin/tcpdump -pnq -i internal >> /dev/tty10 &
    /usr/sbin/tcpdump -pq -i wifi >> /dev/tty9 &
    echo "$HOSTNAME system startup complete `date '+%r %x'`" | /usr/bin/mailx -c "[email protected]" -s "$HOSTNAME Startup Message" [email protected]
    here is the output from the startup command with journalctl:
    Nov 18 22:46:10 pLAN9-Gateway systemd[1]: Starting Startup Script...
    Nov 18 22:46:10 pLAN9-Gateway systemd[1]: Starting OpenSSH Daemon...
    Nov 18 22:46:10 pLAN9-Gateway systemd[1]: Started OpenSSH Daemon.
    Nov 18 22:46:13 pLAN9-Gateway startup[409]: . . . message not sent.
    Nov 18 22:46:13 pLAN9-Gateway systemd[1]: Started Startup Script.
    the route add command runs, but nothing else does. as you can see, there is absolutley NOTHING helpful in the log, other than the completely useless "message not sent" output from mailx. running the startup script manually with "systemctl start startup" works fine.
    iptables.service is setup to run After=netcfg.service, so I would assume that beucase the startup script runs after iptables, it should run after netcfg as well.
    why aren't these commands running?

    A oneshot service is killed once the main process returns (that's why it is called a "oneshot"). Your tcpdump processes are killed once startup returns.

  • GPO with a startup script is not working.

    I have a GPO that I have added a ".bat" script to the "Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\scripts\startup/shutdown" section. The batch file is located in the netlogon folder. This script was part of another Old GPO
    that I want to consolidate into this new GPO. So I am taking the exact settings from the old GPO and  applying it to the new GPO.
    The script does not run at startup and when I go into Group Policy Management, highlight the GPO then on the right pane click the settings tab it doesn't display the startup script as being set. It's just not there. If I select edit and go to the
    "Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\scripts\startup/shutdown\startup" section the .bat script is present though.
    Also if I do a gpresult it also shows that it isn't running the script but all other settings in the GPO are being applied.
    This GPO has the User Config. side disabled
    Why isn't the GPO applying the script or even acknowledging that it is present in the settings tab?

    Hi,
    I could not see any report in the above link. I would like to know that did you follow the below path:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/dd630947.aspx
    In addition, logon script could only be applied to users. If want to apply to computers, we should use startup script.

  • How to specify the webLogic server startup script to use different config.xml  file ??

    Hi,
    I have 2 weblogic startup scripts (startWebLogic.sh and
    startWebLogic_recovery.sh) for the same domain.
    startWebLogic.sh uses config.xml file.
    I would like to use config_recovery.xml as the configuration file for startWebLogic_recovery.sh
    How would I do this ?
    I am using WebLogic Server 6.1 on SunOS 5.8 / HP-UX 11.0.
    Appreciate any help.
    Regards
    Gunaseelan Venkateswaran

    I guess you're using Weblogic 6.1 with WLCS 3.5. I think you're supposed to work with one config.xml for the same domain, and not have a different config.xml.
    To start up different applications or EJBs, use the "target" property to control which applications to start up for the particular instance.

  • Check for libraries with a startup script

    Is it possible to check for open libraries with a startup script?  Currently, i'm trying like this:
    try{
         app.libraries.item("Marks.indl").name
    catch(e){
         app.open(File("/Support/InDesign/Lib/Marks.indl"))
    If InDesign is already open, this code works correctly (that is, if the library is open, nothing happens, otherwise it opens the library).  However, if I place this in the startup script folder, it will open a second (third, fourth, etc.) copy of the library, even if the library is already open.
    I think this happens because the library files are opened later in the startup sequence then the startup scripts are run.  Is there any way to work around this?
    Thanks,
    /dan

    Is your script supposed to work in ID CS3, or later?
    Anyway, InDesign CS4 seems to reopen the libraries before launching startup scripts, so the following code works for me:
    // Startup Script
    const libName = "Marks.indl",
      libPath = "/Support/InDesign/Lib/";
    var libFile = libPath + libName;
    if( !app.libraries.itemByName(libName).isValid )
      try {app.open(File(libFile))}
      catch(_){alert("Unable to open the library:\r"+libFile);}

  • Need to write a startup script for TunTap

    Dear community,
    I am using 10.10.1, 13" MBPr Late 2013 and I need to be able to access my Work VPN. From what i have been told, the OS X client can't work and that I have been advised to use Shrew Soft VPN. (We initially tried to get the WatchGuard Firewall to build a Mac .dmg and that didn't work). To get ShrewSoft to work, I have had to follow these steps:
    http://ulaptech.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/shrew-soft-vpn-client-for-mac-os-x.html
    ·         Install the qt-mac-opensource-4.7.1.dmg file first
    ·         Install the tuntap20111101.tar.gz file second
    ·         Install the shrew soft client.
    But the TunTap download that is above will not work as it is unsigned and Yosemite has now killed off unsigned kexts.I tried turning off the requirement for OS X for signed kexts by using this command:
    sudo nvram boot-args="kext-dev-mode=1"
    Then rebooting, but it didnt work.
    I can get the VPN to work if I open up terminal and enter these two commands:
    sudo kextload /library/extensions/tap.kext
    sudo kextload /library/extensions/tun.kext
    But I have to do this everytime i turn my Mac on.
    Could somebody please help me write those two lines into a startup script? As I really have no idea how to do it.
    Your help and guidance would be appreciated

    Choose Utilities from the Finder’s Go menu, open the AppleScript Editor, and paste in the following:
    set thepassword to text returned of (display dialog "Your administrator password is required." default answer "" with hidden answer)
    do shell script "kextload /Library/Extensions/tap.kext" with administrator privileges password thepassword
    do shell script "kextload /Library/Extensions/tun.kext" with administrator privileges password thepassword
    Save it as an application and set it as a login item.

  • Office 2010 setup thru computer startup script

    I am trying to install Office 2010 (sp2 seperate in the updates folder) thru group policy startup script and configured with OCT .msp file. Also try to start Access Runtime 2010 with SP2 update in the updates folder.
    In group policy set run scripts asynchronisely disabled and run scripts visible enabled otherwise i could not see what the system was doiing also not when configiguring OCT with full display. The gpo settings lets the screens show during install so the user
    can see what happens.
    There is another problem that rises however: I have made 2 batchfiles and both are starting as a computer startup script in seperate gpo's (that is in another post). First the Accessruntime is installing, after that Office 2010 is running. Both are installed
    after login but only one of the 2 have SP2 installed (7015) in this case Accessruntime has it. When i run only the Office 2010 install and not the Accesruntime 2010 then Office 2010 standard has also SP2 installed (version 7015). When running both only Runtime
    has this sp2 and Office has 4763 this is without sp2 i believe.
    In both folders (Office en Runtime) are the update files .msp in the updates folder of the installation, so thats ok.
    Why is only 1 of the 2 installing the SP2 when running both?
    A second thing is when restarting the system and before the login screen appears a message: Upgradepatch cannot be installed by Windows installer becasue the upgraded program does not excist of the upgradepatch is not suitable for this program?
    Here is part of the batchfile:
    IF EXIST "c:\program files\Microsoft Office\Office14\WINWORD.EXE" (goto mkfile) ELSE (goto DeployOffice)
    :mkfile
    ECHO Office 2010 is reeds geinstalleerd>c:\temp\office.txt
    goto end
    :DeployOffice
    call cscript \\sharename\office2010\Offscrub03.vbs ALL /bypass 1 /q /s /NoCancel
    start /wait %DeployServer%\setup.exe /adminfile %DeployServer%\officeconfig.msp
    echo %date% %time% Setup ended with error code %errorlevel%. >> %LogLocation%\%computername%.txt
    Another batchfile
    start \\sharename\accessruntime2010\setup.exe /config \\share\accessruntime2010\config.xml
    REM echo %date% %time% Setup ended with error code %errorlevel%. >> %LogLocation%\%computername%.txt
    freddie
    after installing both runtime and office both have SP2 in updates folder:
    runtime 4763
    Office 2010: 7015
    So in this example runtme is installed without the SP2. installing runtime alone gives with SP2...
    The message is gone. There was a other policy inherited from above that caused the message. The only problem now is that when installing both, runtime 2010 with SP2 files and Office 2010 with SP2 files, then one of the two don't get the Sp2 installed, why
    is that?

    So it is NOT GP related but rather your script fails?!? Put some "echo
    %~n0 %date% %time%>>Log-File-Of-Your-Choice.txt" in it to check what's
    going on. And put ">>Log-File-Of-Your-Choice.txt 2>&1" at the end of
    critical commands to capture their output.
