Lost Bluetooth after Self Install HD Upgrade MBP CD

I just installed a new (larger) Hard Disk in my MBP CD. Everything seems fine Hard disk wise, but I have realized that the computer now does not see any bluetooth hardware in System Profiler. Anyone have any ideas? (such as if bluetooth hardware is near the HD and maybe I messed it up?)
Russell

According to the following guide, the Bluetooth board needs to be moved in order to access the hard drive. It's likely that you may disconnected or partially disconnected the BT board.

ipad apps 1 I lost all after I installed new windows and I tried to connect it between your computer and iPad, what's the solution? (Please Inbox : [email protected]) Thanks

    Hi,
Sounds like it isn't to serious. the Bluetooth connection had an error and that is that generated
    the Problem report.
When the Blackberry started to use Bluetooth the "gold standard" was using Microsoft's
"native" windows drivers. Now, every major PC company has there own version
    Thus the problem report.
There is  rather involved and lengthy procedure to check and install the correct Bluetooth drivers
in the Dell, but I really don't think you want to take that on.( Nod you head and say H*LL YES)
    Here is what I propose;
The problem report needs to be resolved or it wont go away. Read the manual, call Dell,
try apologizing to it and that you'll never never do it again, what ever it takes!
Make the best investment you can make for your Blackberry, buy a media card.
All the memory in the BB is dynamic, this facilitates the functions of the phone.
By storing media in that memory, you effect are wasting X amount for file storage.
Store all media and files on the media card, and you will have a smooth running device.
They run about $25.00usd, they are easy to install, and they also make moving your
media a snap. You will need the USB adapter that came with it, but you can get that at
    your local carrier store.
So if you agree with this I need some info.
On the Blackberry go to the options icon, click then scroll up to ABOUT.
I need your software version number, it's listed in this format: 4.x.x.xxx.
Send it back to me and I can tell you what size card you can get.
    Let me know your thoughts!
    Thanks,

  • After Clean Instal Tiger, upgrading to 10.4.7. many errors appeared

I wiped my boot drive, installed tiger, upgraded combo 10.4.7. Created anount account user. Things were spiffy for a moment until I mounted my firewire drives and some dmg file. BLAM! CRASH! MAYDAY MAYDAY! RUN FOR COVER into the apple forum! I've search forums for several problems and was unable to find solution but did on my own.
    Errors:
Media ejectables: DMG, firewire drives, cd, dvd would not appear (but would on other users) I tried permission fix, disconnecting, whatever.
Internal audio wasn't working. Volume control was dissabled, and volume icon dissappeared from menubar after clicking it.
Worse of all: My icons on my sidebar were missing, desktop icons were randomly missing. I did comand J on finder and select show icon and show preview. That worked until log out, log in. Icons were switched around to the wrong ones, I thought I was on mars.
What else, well didn't get around much since I tried to deal with one problem at a time - it became overwhelming.
Before erasing the drive and reinstalling for another try, I decided to trash all my contents in my prefs folder in my home/personal directory (didn't empty trash). Logged out and back in. I'm back in business!
Those of you may want to try that and may have to re-adjust all your settings, serials, etc. Or you could drag some prefs back to folder to to find culprit or just the ones you really need. When happy with everything... Take out the garbage!
Hope it works for you as well.

It's explained as is. Delete some preference files.

  • Lost iSight - Ethernet - Bluetooth after Leopard install

    Hi,
I installed Leopard - erase and install, in an iMac 1.83, 17 early 2006. After installation seemingly no problems with the installation iSight no longer works, built in ethernet doesn't seem to work and Bluetooth is flaky, sometime bluetooth works sometimes not.
With iSight, try to use Photo Booth and I get a black window with a picture of a camera with a slash through the camera.
With Ethernet using DHCP is self assigned an 169 ... number, so I set it to manuel and assigned a IP to it. But then Airport stopped working and lights on router don't light for the ethernet cable, and yes set to no conflicting IP.
I restarted a few times, installed all the software updates, re-installed Leopard all to no avail.
    iMac Passed All ASD test.
    Worked fine with Tiger
I'm at a lost so Any ideas welcomed.
    TIA, Bill...

    Welcome to Apple Discussions, hytan
hytan is giving you good help on resetting the hardware.
About as close as you can come to an iSight "driver" is the "QuickTimeUSBVDCDigitizer.component" file. That file should be in your GF's Mac's Hard Disk / System / Library / QuickTime folder. Look manually because Spotlight will not find this file. If the file is there, reinstallation is not needed.
If it is NOT there, you will need to restore the file to its correct location in order for your built-in iSight (or any other USB camera) to work.
To "reinstall" the file, drag a copy of the file into the correct folder location and restart your Mac. That is all there is to it.
You can use a copy of the QuickTimeUSBVDCDigitizer.component file from another Leopard Mac or from your Time Machine or other backup.
If you do not have a backup or other Mac, make a backup ASAP and use Pacifist to extract QuickTimeUSBVDCDigitizer.component from your Leopard Install disk. Instructions for Pacifist are here.
(I have seen a web page that offers a download of the QuickTimeUSBVDCDigitizer.component file, but it is labeled for Mac OS 10.4.10. I am always suspicious of non-Apple sources for System files on my Mac. Moreover, even if this file is as advertised, I do not know whether the download is a safe substitute for you. Therefore, I suggest the Pacifist alternative.)
If the file is where it should be but your built-in iSight is still not working, you will need to consider the hardware possibilities.  If reset won't bring it back, contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

  • Lost Bluetooth after system refresh 15-4010nr

With the whole 8.1 upgrade debacle, I had to wipe my system and start fresh.  Now I just realized I have no bluetooth on my laptop.  I'm mostly sure I had it, but I cannot find it on the device manager.  Any idea where I can download the driver?
    Thanks

    Hello DrKrizzle,
I see you're trying to find the bluetooth on your Notebook after doing a system refresh. I will try to help you with this.
If the refresh has reverted the Notebook to Windows 8, you may use this link for the driver which should enable the bluetooth for you again. Intel Bluetooth Driver. If you have upgraded back to 8.1 after the refresh, there is currently no driver listed.
You may also use the HP Recovery Manger to try to restore lost drivers. Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8).
I hope this is able to help you, let me know how it goes.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

  • Lost Library after re-install of software

I had to reload my system - installing Windows XP Pro from scratch. When I installed iTunes my "library" had disappeared. I keep all of my audio files on a different physical hard drive than "My DOcuments" - this includes the "iTunes" folder.
When I installed iTunes 6 it can't find this library and, quite frankly, the support article on this issue is less than helpful.
Within the iTunes folder are two files named: "iTunes 4 Music Library.itl" and "iTunes Music Library.xml". The new install of iTunes created another library incorrectly assuming I kept all of my music in "My Documents" (I hate it when software makes this assumption). In the "MY Music" sub-folder are three iTunes libraries: "iTues 4 Music Library.itl", "iTunes Library.itl" and "iTunes Music Library.xml" all with a date of "03/29/2006".
Can someone help me understand how I get my iTunes library recognized?
Thank you for any help (I know other articles have broached this subject but none seem to directly address this issue).
    Carl

This Article is useful: No music shows up in iTunes after upgrading
As may be the concepts in this one: All of my music is missing after downgrading from iTunes
But: Perchance you may still have the music files on your PC -- but not seen in iTunes or the PC.
Do a thorough search of your PC for your Music Files using the tips below:
First - Make sure that you enable your Windows Explorer to view 'Hidden' files:
    - Open Windows Explorer
    - Select 'My Computer'
    - On the main Windows Explorer menu: Tools=>Folder Options=>'View' tab
    - In 'Advanced Setting' --> Files and Folders --> Hidden files and folders:
-- Select 'Show hidden files and folders’
    - Click 'Apply to All Folders'
    - Click 'OK'
Then check using Windows Explorer in 'My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\...' for folders containing your music (or wherever you keep your music folders).
Also check in your Recycle Bin to see if you accidentally deleted it. If so, ‘Restore’ it back to it’s original spot.
Then try running a search using Windows Explorer (or similar) for files with the extensions of: m4a, m4p, MP3, OR with the partial names of the songs you are missing.
Do all the above before you decide that your music files have been completely erased from your hard drive.
IF you can locate the music files/folders, we can get iTunes to recognize it. Try one of these:
If you have a backup iTunes database file available....
1a. --- Close iTunes. If you have a backup (or previous version) of the ‘iTunes Library’itl’ database file, then place a copy of that file in the ‘...\My Music\iTunes’ folder (or wherever the current, incomplete file resides).
    1b. --- Open iTunes
If you have a full version of the iTunes Music Library.xml file available....
2a. --- Within iTunes: File=>Import and browse to the location of the XML file
2b. --- Select the file and allow iTunes to Import the music information
If no backup ITL or XML files exists….
3a. --- In iTunes choose: Edit=>Preferences=>Advanced tab. Select 'Change' and browse to the music folder in your PC drive (if it isn’t already). Click OK to save that setting.
    Then....
3b. --- In iTunes choose: File=>’Add Folder to Library’ & browse to the music folder in your PC drive. Click OK.
Without the ITL file, re-‘Adding’ the music files to the Library will lose you the Ratings, Play Counts, Date Added and Last Played attributes, as well as your Playlists. No real way to recover them if you haven’t made prior backups. Something to consider for the future....
IF your music files are truly gone, and you have some or all of your music files on your iPod, these links will give you several methods of recovering whatever songs remain on your iPod; some free, some third-party software, some more comprehensive for restoring Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, etc. Read them and their associated links before deciding on a strategy that works for you. There are many various third-party software programs that will offer a more robust process, or an easier GUI. Do a Google search for them if the links below leave you wanting…
Don King Resurrected: Deleted files from hard drive (free user steps – music recovery only)
MacMuse: Computer Crashed (free user steps – music recovery only)
Copying music from iPod to computer (a primer on various methods and software)
Copying Songs from Your iPod to a Mac or PC (resource for 3rd party software)
iPodRip Software (Free trial: Mac & Windows)
    PodUtil Software (Mac & Windows)
YamiPod Software (Free: Mac & Windows)
    PodPlus Software (Windows)
    TuneJack Software (Windows)
Senuti (Mac OS X v10.3 or higher Recovery Utility)
XPlay (Windows software For Music Recovery &/or Cross-Platform Functionality)
XPlay Photo Browser (For recovering Photos)
Extremely Simple & Free Method: (just to recover the song files – may not work on a Mac)
    1 - Open iTunes
    2 - Edit=>Preferences=>’Advanced/General’ tab
2a --- Select ‘Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library’: checked
2b --- Select ‘Keep iTunes Music folder organized’: checked
2c --- Click OK to store changes
3 - Attach your iPod to the PC and hold down the ‘Shift+Ctrl’ keys until the iPod is fully recognized (this will defeat the auto-sync process)
4 - If you get a dialog box to link the Library, decline this option
5 - Within iTunes: Edit=>Preferences=>’iPod’ tab: switch iPod to ‘Manually manage songs & playlists’ – click ‘OK’
    6 – Eject iPod
7 – Close iTunes, then reopen iTunes and attach the iPod (it’s in manual sync now)
    8 – File=>Add Folder
9 - Browse to and open ‘My Computer’ (click on the ‘+’) and select the iPod (or the lower ‘\iPod_Control’ sub-folder)
    10 - Click OK
-- The music files should start to transfer back into iTunes with its correct information
–-- This will take some time depending on your PC’s speed and the amount of songs on the iPod
No Playlists, or Ratings, Last Played, & Play Count attributes will be transferred from the iPod to iTunes using this method.
If you have problems with seeing the iPod within 'My Computer', try again switching your update method to 'manual', detach the iPod, then reconnect the iPod to the PC.
AFTER recovering your Library, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation.
You need at least two full sets of your music, not including what is on the iPod:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and only one other medium is not considered having any backup.
If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer’s internal HD, then create and maintain at least two external sets (any multiple combinations of ExHDs, DVDs, CDs).
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl). What are the iTunes Library files?
Here is a post on developing a thorough backup strategy:

  • Lost Bluetooth after firmware update 2.0.1

After updating my 15" MacBook Pro with a Broadcom chipset I have lost the Bluetooth hardware. If I go to System Profile it says "No information available". If I try and do a Bludtooth set up in system Profile.... Network it says the system has no Bluetooth hardware. Any thoughts?

Have you tried a simple restart? My bluetooth has been known to wander off at times (not on the Air but on my PB G4). You can try resetting the SMC: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411. This has helped me in the past.

  • Lost Password After 10.4.5 Upgrade? Do This:

If the password you've been using for the past, oh, five years or so suddenly doesn't work after upgrading to 10.4.5, as it happened to me and a lot of other people, do this:
Boot up with the Tiger installation disk. Under Utilities, click on Reset Password, type in your original password (or a new one if you want) and restart.

I rebooted my Mac after coming up to the login screen (that refused my password) and it seems to work fine after that.
I also tried to SSH in remotely and I have a feeling there was a slight issue with PAM (or the Mac equiv) as my Mac has my SSH keys on it and they weren't working (asked me for a password which would point to something else being wrong.)
I think the secondary boot fixes this problem more than the password change with the Install media does.

  • Sudden Motion Sensor disabled constantly after Leopard install and upgrade

    Hello,
After I upgraded Tiger to Leopard my Sudden Motion Sensor is constantly disabled. I have tried alot now, including a complete reinstall of Leopard (which now looks like a waste of time, since it didnt help at all).
I called Apple support yesterday and the guy i talked to had me doin alot of stuff - botting with a key combination, creating a new account, and now after his advise doing a hardware test and if that didnt work I should try reinstalling Leopard.
    All done, nothing changed. It still shows;
    Sudden Motion Sensor:
Status: Slået fra (danish, properly says disabled in english)
AMSTracker and all other software that uses SMS doesn't react on anything.
I haven't tried installing Tiger again since I have to use this laptop on work by Monday and haven't got the time tomorrow to install it again.
Has anyone experienced this, and anyone that knows a way to get SMS working again?
I use my laptop a lot when I ride with trains, but with SMS not working I feel kinda unsecure - dont wanna have a headcrash on the harddrive or something like that :-/

I contacted Apple today. My last call was apperently not registered in the system (sometimes the calls gets removed I was told... Ehm, what?).
The lady I talked to had to contact a technical department (and wait in a queue... Exactly as I had in 40 minuttes just to get through to her). After waiting on that, she returned to me and said that it apparently is a hardware failure so I have to bring my MB into a Service Provider (Humac here in Denmark).
I got a case number from her and is able to call Humac and ask them to get the spare parts home for that case number. When they get the spare parts, they should then call me and tell me. Afterwards I can bring the MB into the store when ever I got the time (as I use it work related, so I can't be without it for a day).
That is pretty much my 'fix'. Haven't contacted Humac yet, but will do that tomorrow. Gotta get some sleep now.
And yes, SeisMac and Neverball too is fun

  • How do i find lost contacts after i installed ios5 through my macbook pro?

I upgraded my iphone by syncing through my MacBook Pro. When it finished all the messages and original contacts as well as games and software were deleted. It even took away my wallpaper which was a picture of my grandson. I am really upset!

Did you perform the update on the computer you normally sync to? Did you get any errors during the process? Did you wait for the restore to complete after updating? Were your apps in the iTunes library BEFORE you started the update? Were you syncing your contacts to a compatible address book or cloud service?
We need more information to even begin to guess what happened.

  • Lost widgets after clean install of Snow Leopard

Does anyone know how I can restore my widgets (& the info on them, mostly sticky notes)? I did a clean install of Snow Leopard and I was able to pretty much restore everything manually from TIme Machine. I did go into "Users/Library/Widgets" and restore that, but it seems not to have worked, all I get are the 4 default widgtets.
Any ideas? Other than that the install went well.
    Thanks

Weird ... still no widgets, even after restoring those files ... sorry ...
I had about 10-12 sticky notes with semi-important info on them and it would be nice, but not critical, to have them back. I should have done a screen shot and saved that! I'm wondering if I must first create new, blank stickies first ... which would then take the info?? Seems odd, but who knows.
If you have another idea, that would be great.
Thanks for hangin' in there with me...

  • Cannot enable Bluetooth after v4.5 software upgrade

Hi, have upgraded to Device software v4.5 on my 8800. The paired devices were no longer there although other stuff such as address book, calendar etc where rinstalled OK. I cannot enable bluetooth, it just hangs with message "enabling bluetooth"and pulling the battery waiting a minute and then restarting does not help. Any ideas please?

I have done exactly the same thing to mine, cannot update from the O2 website, O2 are no help at all, RIM want to charge £129 +vat for repairing the phone which is just a rip off. This was a free upgrade offered and advertised by RIM which has impaired the operation of my phone what do they intend to do about it? Nothing thats what. If it wasn't for the web browsing, email and ease of use of the phone, the blackberry would be straight in the bin and replaced by a nokia, at least you get support with them.

After a successful installation process, Photoshop CS6 opens, starts to load, then vanishes....   I'm on a PC where I'd been running CS5, then upgraded to CS6 via internet. Had problems with installation setup, which were settled via Adobe Chat. Now the programme starts up ready to open but shortly after the PS sign comes up and before the window actually opens, just disapears. Can anybody help with this please?

Ok, I found one more article talking about upgrading to 11.3 upgrade instead of 11.4(latest). Finaly worked. Hope this helps someone else, this was painful.

  • After clean install/SSD upgrade, how to keep prefs and wipe OS from HDD?

I'm about to install an SSD in the boot bay and move my HDD to the optical bay.  I'm awaiting the arrival of the disk doubler before I get on with it. In the meantime have a couple questions:
Firstly, after I've done a clean install of Mountain Lion and loaded up all my apps onto the SSD, I'd like to free up memory and remove the OS and apps from the HDD.  After googling, I've found lots on installing SSDs and creating a USB boot drive with ML, but can't find anything that addresses potential issues of simply deleting the OS from the old (HDD) drive.  I'd appreciate any advice on dos and don'ts!
Secondly, is there any way that before I delete these, I can import all my existing prefs/settings for the OS and existing apps, so I don't have to reset all of this?  Again, despite looking around for tips, I've come up empty.
Thanks in advance for any help.
