Lost Bluetooth module

Hi,
I've got a new iMac Aluminum 20"... After I unbox it and install all the updates (10.5.7 and some firmware update) I realized that my bluetooth icon in the status bar was missing...
I opened system preferences pane and there was no bluetooth there either...
When I tried to use the bluetooth file exchange app this came up on the screen:
Then I opened the system profiter to look for the bluetooth module information it said I don't have a bluetooth module...
Is this a hardware problem and I should take the computer back to the store or it's a software problem??
Please someone help me
Thanks....

Thanks from me, too...
Mine disappeared when I'd shut down the laptop for about 15-20 minutes. Restarted with the install disk, ran disk utility, and on the second restart it was back.
One question: I couldn't get my MacBook Pro, OS 10.5.8 (just got it in July) to give me startup options when I held down either the D or C during a restart. (I've used it with bootcamp partition, and it works there). However, when I went to startup prefs, the install disk was there as an option.
OK, one more question: I didn't see anything that said "diagnostics," only the utilities menu that has the disk utility. Don't recall ever seeing "diagnostics," actually, in any Mac version, especially not hardware diagnostics. Am I missing something, or is the reference generic? (Note, though, that running disk repair from the install disk apparently solved problem).

  • MB Lost Bluetooth Module

Recently my MB somehow lost its Bluetooth Module. I have no idea how this happened because for the past month my Bluetooth mouse has been working fine, and today when I booted up my computer my mouse would not connect, so I went to system preferences and a message popped up that said, " The bluetooth tab has been hidden because there is no bluetooth module installed or attached to your computer." Do I need to have it repaired or is there something I can do to fix it?

I had a similar problem myself a couple months ago. It appears as though the software had been completely removed. I called Mac support, we went through multiple steps, and finally, after multiple restarts, the tech guy had me restore default settings to the computer and then unplug everything from it, including the battery. This turned out to work.

  • 10.5.2 upgrade lost Bluetooth module

Leopard no longer finds the Bluetooth module on my Intel (Core Duo) Mini after installing the 10.5.2 upgrade. Attempting to install a new BT device brings up an error box saying that no Bluetooth hardware can be found. Looking at System Profiler -> Hardware -> Bluetooth gives "no information". Rebooting into 10.4.11 restores all BT functionality. The Leopard/BT loss is 100% reproducible.
I've seen several threads about BT keyboards freezing intermittently after the 10.5.2 upgrade, but didn't see any saying that the BT module is no longer recognized. I have left a report with Apple. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, did you find a fix? Thank you.

And to add more information to my prior post, Airport is also nonfunctional after the 10.5.2 upgrade. Unlike the bluetooth problem, System Profiler sees the Airport card, but trying to configure the Airport under Network fails. The button to turn the Airport on is greyed out, and I haven't found another way to turn it on. I've tried resetting PRAM and SMC, rebooting, creating another user account. I've also re-installed 10.5.0 (archive/install), and that brings back both Bluetooth and Airport operation. When I then apply the 10.5.2 combo updater, the OS can no longer find the BT hardware module, and the Airport card can't be turned on. Rebooting under Tiger fixes it all, so I think I'm safe in saying it's the 10.5.2 update that's breaking things.

  • Bluetooth module lost

When I started up my computer this morning it wouldn't recognize the wireless keyboard and mouse. When I went to re-setup the bluetooth it told me there was no bluetooth hardware installed. I can't find the bluetooth module anywhere on the system. I've restarted, zapped the PRAM, unplugged usb devices, except for an older keyboard and mouse. In the system profiler under bluetooth it says no information found. Not sure what else to do...any suggestions? Can a bluetooth module go bad?

FYI.....I did get the bluetooth to work....but a few days later it did it again. This time I had no USB devices plugged in except for a hub. I did unplug that but I also changed the batteries in both devices. Bluetooth worked upon restart. So...I think using new batteries is the key. Once they get a little low the bluetooth devices start to act up.

  • While installing Lion my Bluetooth module disappeared. How can I reinstall it?

While installing Lion my Bluetooth module disappeared. How can I reinstall it?

You ought to get a dialog asking to install the first time you run an app that needs it
    Details here:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/1167855/installing_mountain_lion_what_you_need_t o_know.html
    The relevant bit is this:
Note that the first time you try to load a webpage or run an app that requires Java, Mountain Lion will prompt you to download and install the Java runtime, even if you upgraded from Snow Leopard or Lion and you’d previously installed Java. This is normal—you shouldn’t worry that installing Mountain Lion somehow “lost” any of your data or apps.
Or you can go to the Apple Downloads page and search for Java

  • IMac 5,2 Core2Duo lost Bluetooth - Fixed

This may apply to all Macs, but I have only one iMac that has lost Bluetooth so it was only tried out with that.
Our older white iMac 5,2 lost Bluetooth one day - no warning, no reason, it was just gone.  I read the forums and tried everything, resetting SMC or what ever, re-installed the original Mac OS that came with the iMac, nothing made any difference.
I took a punt on a £2 Bluetooth USB dongle from Amazon, what do you know it actually works!  It is seen by the iMac as if it was the original Bluetooth hardware, uses the built-in drivers.  I don't know at this stage how well it's going to work over the coming weeks or months, but it's looking good as it will only be used for Apple keyboard and mouse (from the same period), and they paired without any problems.
The actual name of the item on Amazon was Super Mini USB Bluetooth 2.0 Wireless Adapter Dongle - OEM, I'm sure a simple search would find it.
For all those losing Bluetooth, after having tried the suggestions in these forums with no luck I would say give this a try.  I plugged the dongle directly into the back of the iMac, this is not a problem for us however as it effectively replaces the wired USB connection that the original keyboard used.

  • HP integrated bluetooth module in Pavilion dv7-2173cl Entertainment Notebook PC support A2DP?

Is my 2009 internal bluetooth module out of date?  Can I upgrade?
I can connect an external bluetooth speaker, but windows is unable to find drivers.  According to HP.com, the drivers are up to date.  The icon for the speaker shows up in Devices and Printers window, but with a yellow error triangle.  It seems pairing is successful up to a point; I just can't use the bluetooth peripheral.  I know I can buy an external usb dongle that may or may not work, but I want don't want to have another external usb dongle as I have one for a mouse.

    SillyBilly1,
Sorry for not replying to the second part of your post.
I didn't notice it until after I hit post and then I had to do some research and there is not much documentation which devices are A2DP.
From talking to people, your laptop Bluetooth will support the A2DP.
The device that you are trying to connect the laptop will be what has the restriction on it.
Let me know how everything goes.

  • I have a question about getting a Bluetooth module installed on my MacPro Desktop running 10.6.8.

I have the following MacPro Desktop. Model Identifier MacPro1,1, with two Dual-Core Intel Xeon Processors at 2.66 GHz. I have 4 GB of memory. There is not a Bluetooth module installed, but I would really like to be able to disconnect from my Logitech USB headphones and go to a Bluetooth set for more mobility in my office.
I use Line 2 Pro VOIP phone service and sometimes I need to move from my desk to a file cabinet to retrieve something while on the phone. I hate putting people on hold while I do this.
    First, is this possible?
Second, if it is, where do I find such a module?
Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

  • Satellite Pro M70 - What is the Bluetooth module part number

Could someone who has a Toshiba Satellite Pro M70, with bluetooth, tell me the part number of the bluetooth module please?
You can reed it from one of the labels under your notebook. You can read bluetooth in it, the part number is in the up left side of the label, and it will be something like this: PA3418U-BTM.
    Thanks.

    Hi
Why you dont make a call to the authorized service partner in your country and would order an compatible BT module for your notebook?
In my opinion this would be the easiest way to get one.
Unfortunately Im not owner of Sat Pro M70 and therefore I dont know the BT part number. But my A210 has been equipped with an internal BT module and the part number is PA3608U-1BTM

    Hi,
You canr use text modules in script. You have to use standard texts .
Standard text are maintained in SO10 transaction.
you can create translation text for other languages also . So based on logon language it will print translation text.
    go to SO10
give textname it say Ztextname  id as ST and language as EN
say create, then you will get editor there maintain your text and save it . then come back . Now change language (say for german DE) say create and eneter translation text and save it.
so now you have created a text called ztextname which you can use in your script.
Inorder to insert the texts in your script do as below
go to any window editor and   select path
    Insert->texts->symbols->standard symbols
then you will get popup  in which you have to mention all the parameters that you have created earlier.
after inserting just change language EN to sy-langu
    Reward points if useful
About text elements Sravan already given some informatiomn
    Regards,

  • Mac Mini: Bluetooth Module (Creating a Buzz)

I have a high pitched buzzing sound coming from my Mac Mini's audio out right channel whenever the Bluetooth module is active. I have tried numerous recommendations and suggestions, but nothing seems to eliminate the buzz. Outside of disabling the Bluetooth or purchasing an USB audio interface. This situation is proving to be a disappointing one. Primarily because of the indented use for the Mini as a digital music and movie storage and playback unit, is being compromised by me having to hover over my computer instead of relaxing from the sofa without obtrusive wires being everywhere. Please... any help will be greatly appreciated.

As posted in the other thread:
Sean, you might try a ferrite ring which should be obtainable from Radio Shack. It'll be about an inch in diameter and you thread the speaker cable through it and wrap a few turns around it. This will act as an RF (Radio Frequency) choke, filtering out frequencies above the audio level (ie, the BT signal which is causing the interference).
Ferrite rings are typically used by radio hams to cut down signal breakthrough into audio or tv equipment. The size of the ring and the number of turns of the cable will determine how much filtering it applies.

  • Connecting audio speakers via external Bluetooth module

I have an USB bluetooth module (manufactured by Broadcom) to connect to a bluetooth-enabled stereo, but it won't work. I think it must be a software problem. Can anyone help with this?
The device is set up properly, and paired with the stereo.
But in System Preferences > Bluetooth > Devices, it says "Connected: No".
I've updated the Bluetooth software (from Apple).
I've rebooted with the device plugged into the USB port.
I've confirmed (in System Profiler) that the port is recognized.
And I've managed to play music on the same stereo using a different laptop with a built-in bluetooth device.
Can anyone help me resolve this? I'd be really grateful.

yea i have the same problem...no idea how to get the device to say connected: yes

  • Lost Bluetooth Hardware?

Have a (white) MacBook which came with Bluetooth installed. I subsequently purchased a bluetooth mouse and keyboard from Apple. Then, I had a hard drive crash and had to replace HD. About the same time I updated OS to 10.5.7. Not sure which, but I finally got around to using bluetooth and found that the bluetooth utilities are "hidden" in the System Preferences. It says I am missing the Bluetooth module.
Not sure what to do. Computer sees mouse and keyboard, says they are paired but not connected. Is there something I can download from Apple?
    Thanks in advance.

Digging deeper, I found an answer in a previous post that I had missed. Number 2 below worked for me. GW

There's two things you can try.
    1) Delete the com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file from ~/Library/Preferences/ and restart the Mac.
    2) Reset the PRAM as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379

  • Is Bluetooth module for Mac Pro/iMac compatible with FW800 MDD?

I've been looking at fitting an internal Apple Bluetooth module in my FW800 MDD G4, and I've noticed the later modules for Intel Macs appear to have the same form factor. The connection to the logic board looks identical, as do the mounting holes. The only physical difference seems to be where the BT antenna connects (below on the original G4 card, above on the later modules).
Has anyone tried fitting one with success?

if you got the guts, shove it in there. think the issue you will have is the original machines supported the 1.1 cards, the card you speak of is 2.0

  • Bluetooth module part number for pavilion dv7 4080us ?

I have a pavilion dv7 4080us.  Its a great machine but am surprised not to find bluetooth.  I see other machines have it and assume it is a part.  I have installed bluetooth modules in other laptops pretty easily - but I cannot find a part number for this machine to order etc.

    Hi:
Below is the service manual for your notebook.
    http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02476547/c02476547.pdf
You will need to order both the bluetooth module and the bluetooth cable. Part numbers for these are on page 21 of Chapter 3.
The installation procedure is in Chapter 4, page 82. Part numbers again listed on page 82.  Looks like you have to take a lot of stuff off including the display.
