Lost brushes in Photoshop cc

After working in Lightroom 5 and photoshop cc for an extended period (6 hrs or so) I lose my brushes especially consistently in the liquify filter. Then, the whole photo has a red overlay as if a mesh-- and then after I close liquify window my image is just a black screen. The only solution is to reboot. Any idea why? At first I was having issues with Firefox open but even after closing, I had same problem. I've updated all software and have 8GB of RAM with only those 2 apps open. Help?

Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?
Could you please post a screenshot to illustrate the issue?

  • Strange behavior of brush in Photoshop 10.0.1 CS3 Extended

I've all of a sudden encountered a problem with the brushes in Photoshop CS3. When I want to paint with a brush I click the mouse to start laying down paint, but all I get is a spot at that point, nothing happens as I drag the mouse until I release the mouse button- then a path is made from where I first clicked the mouse to where I released the button. How do I get to the point where I can just lay down paint normally with the brush?
    Dick Skover

I'm running a 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo Mac,2 GB SDRAM, and OS X 10.4.11.
This first started happening this morning- I've never had a problem like this before. After I sent the email, I went back to the application and the brush was working fine again. About an hour later I went back again and I had the same problem. I then thought it might be my mouse- I am using the mouse that comes with the Wacom tablet. At that point I tried my logitech mouse and the problem disappeared- went back to my Wacom mouse and the problem was gone for it also. Any idea what's happening?

  • Install brushes in Photoshop CS5.1

    Hi
I am attempting to install these brushes to Photoshop CS 5.1
I have previously used them in Photoshop CS4 64 Bit Extended
I went through the same process - put the ABR file into Presets>Brushes but the brushes do not appear in Photoshop even when the computer has been restarted.
Am I doing something wrong, or are the brushes incompatible with the new Photoshop?
    Thanks

I don't think just dropping brushes in a folder is the preferred way to load them.
Have you tried clicking the fly-out menu and choosing Load Brushes?

  • It seems not possible to create this kind of "Brush" in Photoshop CS6, can anyone help?

    I found this website.
    http://newhive.com/andrew/drawonme?q=%23All%2F
And I thought this "brush" is a  really cool technique for fast sketches. But it does not seem possible in photoshop, does it? I tested it with CS5 and even the new CS6 Brushes.
    Thanks for any help

If I understand correctly the »thing« about this Brush is that it creates individual lines that interact with existing strokes by fanning them out when in proximity to an existing path.
I think this is not possible with a Brush in Photoshop what with it being a pixel oriented application (with some vector functionality, though, fortunately).

  • Are the brushes in Photoshop CC faster than CS6 - still need to use CS5 for large files

    Hey,
Are the brushes in Photoshop CC any faster than Photoshop CS6.
Here's my standard large file, which makes the CS6 brushes crawl:
    iPad 3 size - 2048 x 1536
    About 20-100 layers
A combination of vector and bitmap layers
Many of the layers use layer styles
On a file like this there is a hesitation to every brush stroke in CS6. Even a basic round brush has the same hesitation, it doesn't have to be a brush as elaborate as a mixer brush.
This hesitation happens on both the mac and pc, on systems with 16 gb of ram. Many of my coworkers have the same issue.
So, for a complicated file, such as a map with many parts, I ask my coworkers to please work in CS5. If they work in CS6 I ask them to not use any CS6 only features, such as group layer styles. The only reason why one of them might want to use CS6 is because they're working on only a small portion of the map, such as a building. The rest of the layers are flattened in their file.
Just wondering if there has ever been a resolution to this problem...or this is just the way it is.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Slow Brushes In Photoshop CS5

    Hi:
I've just started experimenting with the new capabilities of brushes in Photoshop CS5 and I'm having problems with the brush response being abysmally slow.  I'm working on a Mac Pro Quad Core, 2.93 GHz with 8 MB of RAM and a wrireless mouse.  Can anybody tell me what might be contributing to this slowness??
    Herman R.

I've installed the 12 02 update and the latest drivers for the
FX3400 graphics card. Now when CS5 opens it tells me its disabling theGPU enhancements. I have the GL turned off.
It also likes to crash when I run Imagenomics plug ins.
So CS3 did not use GL? Whatever.   So that means that its slow  and crashes now.  I can see in other threads here and elsewhere the retarded brush action is common.   They released CS5 too soon. Its not even half-baked.  Also I want the images to open on the right monitor but with CS5 I have to drag each image over to work on it.
I'm back to using CS3 and they said my refund will be credited to my card the first week of January.  I'll have to monitor to see if they get their application working before I return as I have wasted so much time with this I think they should pay me for helping with their product development.

  • When is Adobe going to add stabilization to brushes in photoshop ?

its a needed must for artist with Parkinson's and shaky hands..
Magan studio 5 + has it so does sketchbook pro 6 and other programs for art !
so how come the almighty adobe brains behind the art world never came up with it first and added it in the program ?
these other companies came up with it and added it in to their art programs.
so why didn't adobe do it too ?
and sorry to say Parkinson's does not means you have total lose of control over your body or hands.
it just makes things  a little difficult to do things.
like most of us have just a little shaky hand syndrome and need some things to help us with stability when doing art drawings or painting.
even as you get older people who still like to draw and paint in their 60 yrs + have shaky hands and need  help with it to still do their work.
does not mean they have Parkinson's at all.
just even normal people when you get older will ended up with shaky hands.
    its all part of aging.
why you think most doctors retire before their 60 cause they can't hold a knife or any thing to do their work any more cause of it.
but art it totally different and a addon to adobe photoshop for stabilization for brushes and stuff should be added in to the program.
and stabilization can start from 0 - 100 or more the more higher the value for it the strong the stabilization is to help support the movement you want to do like straight lines and circles and curves and whatever.
the best one I seen so far to date that works great is in manga studio 5 +.
its part of the brushes and it can be check on or off  for if you want to use it or not or just have a small amount of value to help out make better lines and curves with.

when is Adobe going to add stabilization to brushes in photoshop ?
As far as I know the Adobe employees who thankfully drop by these user Fora are not at liberty to comment on future Photoshop features.
Maybe you should add your "+1" and your arguments to an existing Feature Request

  • Brushes Missing in Photoshop CC - How Do I properly install Brushes in Photoshop CC?

Hi, I bought some cool brushes for Photoshop CC and installed them, but a few days later I noticed they are no longer available in my brush presets. Where could they have gone? I did not reinstall Photoshop or do anything except quit Photoshop.
    Question:
Can someone please give me a link or tell me how to properly install brushes (.tpl files) in Photoshop CC so they stay loaded in Photoshop. I also want to add to these brushes and keep a folder o my Mac so I can back them up. Any tips are appreciated. Thanks.

    Ronald Keller wrote:
Your question confuses me: .tpl are not brushes. Brushes have an .abr extension.
So how did you install the brushes you bought? Maybe we can find out what went wrong?
Ronald, as you'll know .tpl files are tool presets.  Using a tool preset as opposed to a normal brush preset, lets you save additional features that are not available with a regular .abr file.   I don't know if he pioneered the technique, but John Derry is the person who introduced it to me via one of his Lynda.com tutorials.
You can get a heads up from here, but I am sure Google will find more links.
John Nack on Adobe : New Photoshop brushes from John Derry
This is a JPG version of the PDF instructions for installing John's Brush tool presets.  Note that this particular set were for CS6, and I was only able to get about half of them working with 2014.2.2  It should at least give  the OP the file locations for a manual install.  Note also, you may need to click on the image to open it at full size, and that the file locations are not necessarily the same for CC.

  • Lost Actions in Photoshop

I use to have Photoshop CS4. One day I logged onto my computer and got on Photoshop and all of my actions were gone. I thought that was the first and last time I would have that problem.
Well I now have Photoshop CC (and have had it for a few months) and now it happened AGAIN! All my actions were deleted/lost off of Photoshop. Luckily I have most of my actions saved, but it is such a hassle to load all of them back in and rearrange the actions so that they work properly. Is there a reason this is happening, and is there a way to fix it?? I do not want to have to go through that again.
    Help please!
    Thanks!

Do you make backups of the data on your computer?

I'm expriencing a broken cursor when enlarging brushes in Photoshop CS4 [see pic]. The cursor is OK at small sizes, but start to get but off after enlarging past a medium size. Can this bug be fixed?
WinXP, 3GB RAM, NVIDIA 6800 GT video card

actually that masks the problem. the fix is still an updated video driver. if the latest one for your card doesn't work, keep using that setting for now, but write to the card manufacturer and report the bug.

  • Create a catalog of brushes in Photoshop Elements

Is there a way to catalog the brushes in Photoshop Elements in an automated or simple manner?

    Create your flat image.
Cut it apart. Put the parts on separate layers. Transform each layer to look like it's being viewed from a consistent angle.
You might achieve this more easily if you look into the Vanishing Point part of Filters. There are some small descriptions of this in Help.

  • Rotating a Brush in Photoshop

I did a search and see people have been asking for some easy way to rotate a custom brush in Photoshop similar to using the brackets to resize the brush. I have a Wacom Intuos 4 tablet. I can change the brush angle by tilting the pen, but as far as I can tell, I don't get to see the brush orientation on the screen before clicking...making it basically useless for my purposes. The current method of going to the brush shape box and rotating the circle and arrow is very slow especially if I need to rotate it a little with each stroke or impression.
Does anyone know of an add-on command or script that might help me out? Or, if I am missing a feature, please advise. I did a lot of google searches on this topic and didn't see a solution on other sites either. It looks like a feature in demand, but still missing in the current software.
    M. Jackson

About the time I asked this question on this forum, I sent an email to Wacom about any possible feature the Intuos 4 might have to rotate a brush. I received this response about a week later:
"What you are looking for is the 6D Art Pen. This pen has enhanced barrel rotation so as you rotate the pen it rotates the brush on the screen (worst with most non round brushes). "
I am now curious if anyone here has one of these pens and if you are able to see the rotation of the brush image on the screen as you rotate the stylus as described above?
    Thanks again,
    M. Jackson
