Lost communication with the printer

I have lost communication between the computer and the printer..it was printing just fine and it quit immediately

To have any hope of providing an answer we will need more information. Please read this post then provide some details. What printer model? What operating system? 32 bit or 64 bit? How is the printer connected - USB, wired LAN, Wireless LAN, bluetooth?

Lost communication with the scanner of my LaserJet Pro CM1415 fnw color MFP with Windows 8.1

I have just upgraded my PC to Windows 8.1 (it came with Windows 8), and now I have "lost communication" with the scanner element of the CM1415...... The printer part is working fine!
I have read various fixes for other printers for 8.1, but does anyone have any experience with this particular model and this particular problem?
PS. The latest HP driver available for the CM1415 states that it is the same as the one delivered in the box.......

I will be happy to help you.
Did you uninstall the printer software and reinstall the downloaded drivers?
If you didn't then I would uninstall and reinstall the downloaded drivers.
I have provided a URL to uninstall the printer software.
Fully uninstall the printer in Win 8.
You can download the newest drivers from this link. Select the operating system and click next.

If you are still having issues I would download and run the Print and Scan Doctor since it might resolve the issue

There is a problem communicating with the printer.

I have a Lexmark Interpret S405. I am using a MBP laptop with WiFi, running 10.5.8. I have a cabled (non-wifi) Linsys router. I am using an Airport Express.
I was finally able to get the WiFi light on the Lexmark to be static green after reinstalling the Lexmark WiFi setup and reconfiguring my Airport settings so that both the computer and printer see each other.
In fact, I even updated the driver from Lexmark's Web site last night and I watched the WiFi light on the printer blink green indicating that the installation of the driver update was being communicated to the printer.
However, when I print, it opens the print window and says first "Looking for S300-S400", then it says "Printer is now online". Then after about 10 seconds, I get this error: "There is a problem communicating with the printer. Make sure the printer is powered on and connected to the computer. Delete or hold the job and try again."
I've exhausted Lexmark's technical databases and couldn't find the answer here.
I've read that one possible solution was to delete all the printers from the "Print & Fax" system preferences window and re-add. That didn't work.
Lexmark says for: The printer communicating on a network; however, the printer is not responsive. Possible causes could be:
1. Your printer is associated with a network, router, or access point, but it is not your network.
2. A software process is blocked by a system security firewall preventing network communication.
3. You are logged into Virtual Private Network (VPN).
4. You are connected to a network but have decided to switch to a USB connection.
I don't have a VPN and have removed the USB cable, then restarted both printer and computer, and deleted printers in Sys Prefs, restarted, and still no solution.
I can print directly via USB cable, but want to print wirelessly.
Lexmark also says to enter my PIN (which I have pulled out from the print menu screen on the printer) in the System. That tells me a lot...
Network settings on the print window on the printer also tell me Signal strength is 5 (excellent) and that I am on the network my airport is on.

I bet this is too late but...
Are you trying to print through the airport express wirelessly or the built in wireless of the lexmark? If you want to use the airport express, there is no need to mess with the wireless printing on the lexmark at all. The airport express will be easy to set up, all the wireless setups through the printers are a pain.

Unable to establish two-way communication with the printer

I have a HP Photosmart B8550 large format printer, but failed recently to print the whole page, but only one third of the page. The OS is Window 7 in my commuter. I downloaded the driver from HP website, but it is not working. The result of the failure is "The computer is unable to establish two-way communication with the device." One of the reasons I guess is that I failed to register my printer because I had no way to finish the registration, because there is no further process even if I put my printer name or number into the required block. Anyhow I failed recently to print anything in the printer. I am seeking the support after a lot of tries. Thanks.

I have two HP computers and two HP Photosmart B8550 printers. A month ago printers were not working. I tried in vain in two computers to download new HP software and driver from internet and got the HP Solution for install error - Windows 7. Based on this Solution on desk, I tried many many times to follow every step, but the result is the same: Fatal error during the installation.
By using other tools like HP Printer Diagnostic Tools, HP Print and Scan Doctor, I failed too because the diagosis or the choices are not accuate. For example, the printer is disconnected. It is wrong even if I changed ports and USB calbe again and again. The control panet can prove that there is communication, but the printer cannot work as directed. There is no way to test the printing as Doctor requested, saying the computer is unable to establish two-way communication with the device, which is not helpful to go ahead with the solution. There is no way to register the printer because there is no such a model HP Photosmart B8550 in its list after search.
It is even worse that the new window dialogue asked me to find HP Photosmart Essentials in my computer to install it again and again, and I could not concel the request whenever I open my computer.
I guess the HP printer software and driver has something wrong in its root design, which leads me to failure in installation so that the computer could not recognize my printer. In short, the new HP software and driver makes my printer not functional.
By the way, my two printers can work internally in printing sample paper and report and two computer are working in perfect condition.

Hi,
Do you create VMs on Hyper-V or VMWare? Based on research, possible causes could be:
1. Files changes in the volume is very huge. So the shadow size may be big and the current shadow storage my not able to hold it. And that’s cause the shadow copy creation failure.
2. The I/O in D drive is heavy and make the shadow copy I/O failed.
3. Server is too busy to handle the request.
4. The disk is heavily defragment.

Suddenly I cannot print from firefox. It was printing one day and would not communicate with the printer the next.

Suddenly I cannot print any web pages from Firefox. It was printing one day and not communicating with the printer the next. Did not happen with an upgrade to Firefox or plugins. Printer dialog came up but nothing sent to printer.

I cannot print from Firefox either all of a sudden. Maybe first thing in the AM, it will print something but then, that's it. I am running OX 10.5 too and using Firefox 3.6.8. I am ready to stop using this!! I like it but it is frustrating. I am on my mac all day for work and cannot find a solution to this Firefox problelm. Maybe Mozilla can help me. Anyone have any answers? I use a HP Laserjet 2300L.

Disk Utility has Lost Connection with the Disk Managment Tool

Hi,
For starters, this problem is not associated with the thread that Brian Z. has posted at the top of this forum. Having said that, here's my problem:
I had installed Security Update 2006-003, and Quicktime 7.1. Permissions were repaired before and after each installation, and all went well.
Some hours later, I was experimenting with Apple Remote Desktop. I had activated ARD in the System Preferences>Sharing pane, and it provided me an IP address associated with ARD. I then turned on Airport, and ARD provided me with an IP address associated with that connection. However when I turned off my modem connection, System Preferences>Sharing hung, and had to be Force Quit.

Thinking a plist had become corrupted, I trashed the following:
com.apple.systempreferences.plist
com.apple.RemoteDesktop.plist
com.apple.Remotemanagement.plist
com.apple.sharing.firewall.plist.
System Preferences started out very slowly, but then all the panes except Sharing would work ok.
I booted from the install disk and performed a Disk Repair. There were no problems reported.
When I tried to run a Repair Permissions, after about 20 seconds I got the, "Disk Utility has lost connection with the disk management tool and can not continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility."
I quit D.U. and the Installer, and was able to successfully run a Repair Permissions from the D.U. in my Utilities folder. It had no problems to report.
Continuting to troubleshoot the System Preferences problem, I then trashed the com.apple.preferencepanes.cache. This solved my System Preferences>Sharing problem.
However, I am still unable to perform a Repair Permissions after booting from my install disk (I get the subject message). Repairing permissions from the Disk Utility in my Utilies folder works fine.
Any thoughts out there on a logical way to troubleshoot where my problem is? Is there a way to get a console log when I'm running DU from the install disk, or a comparable source??

My iPad is no longer communicating with my printer

My iPad is no longer communicating with my printer. I get a message that it is contacting printer and then eventually it tells me that my printer is off line but it's not.

First, follow these steps:
Turn off internet modem (DSL)
Turn off wireless router
Turn off printer
Turn off iPad
WAIT THREE MINUTES BEFORE TURNING THEM ON
Turn on previous items in the EXACT order they were turned off
Allow Third Party Access
After the rebooting, go into your computer or printer's network connection, and make sure that third party devices have permission to have access to the printer.
If you're having problems after that, I deduct that the problem is not with the iPad, but with the printer itself.
Is the printer connected to Wi-Fi? Or, is the printer directly linked to your wireless router?
In the event that the printer IS connected to Wi-Fi, either refer to the user's manual that came with it, contact customer service, or let me know below!
In the event that the printer IS NOT connected to Wi-Fi but to a wireless router, resort to the following steps:
Check the (ethrnet) cable linking your printer and wireless router for any damage.
Make sure the ethernet cable is connected.
Check the wireless router's lights. The cable that was plugged in should have a matching light that turns on and off when plugged in, and removed.
If the light is off, try plugging the ethernet cable into a different port. Repeat this step until a light turns on.
If none of the port lights turn on, your wireless router is the problem.
If the port light does turn on, a connection between the printer and router is established.
Try to connect your device and the printer again.
After following these steps, and it's still not working, post another comment and let me know! My life is now dedicated to helping you get your iPad and printer connected!

No communication to the printer

I just bought the Airport Express yesterday.
Now I have tried so many times and it has not yet managed to get my printer via Airport Express.
I put the wires right to the net and usb and printer is turned on ..
Yet the system comes up with an error:
no communication to the printer.
If I set the printer directly into the USB plug into the imac then the system may well see the printer.
What is it that is wrong and is there anyone who has had the same problem and can help me?

Yes, I have installed my printer driver on the Mac and it works perfectly in a USB cable.
But I want the printer to be wireless instead of when we have multiple computers, so I bought the airport express.
When I put the printer (USB) cable into the airport express, I can find my printer in the program but there is no communication.
What is it that is wrong?

Hi I am trying to fix a problem for some one else, and I am struggling where to look next. The issue is that we are unable to check the ink levels of a HP Deskjet 1050 printer. The error message states that the computer is unable to establish a two way communication with the device. After running through the troubleshooting guide about this issue on the HP site with no joy, I decided that it may be the printer and suggested a replacememnt. Unfortunately A new HP Envy 5530 was purchased and connected (wirelessly) but the issue remains. I have uninstalled the drivers multiple times, and also disabled any firewall/anti virus software in case this was interfering. I was hoping that some one could point me in the right direction next? None of the other forum posts here (or any google searches) give a solutuon which has fixed the problem. Thanks

When I try to order prints on my Macbook I get the error .... "There was a problem communicating with the Apple Online Store. Please try again." I've gotten this error for a few days. When I try the same thing with my wife's Macbook Pro there are no issues. How do I fix the problem on m Macbook?

I found the problem thanks to some help given.
Go to iPhoto menu -> Preferences... -> Advanced -> > Print Products Store was set to "none". I changed that to my own country and then it worked, I could place the order.

"Error occurred while communicating with the scanner"

Just bought this printer from a friend, and every time I try to scan I get the error message "Scanner reported an error: An error occurred while communicating with the scanner."
Anyone know how to fix this so I can use the scanner?

You @cleoambre are a good friend, you bought the printer and are now trying to help troubleshoot the scanner issue! I would be happy to help you with this
Since this printer is a tad on the older side, there is no full feature software and driver for it to install on 10.6. Instead you can Install the printer using the Apple Software update.
You can still complete scans from the Mac using Preview, Image Capture, or the System Preferences window to scan. I will post a few helpful videos below;

An error occurred while communicating with the scanner canon mp640

Since 3 weeks I have this error *An error occurred while communicating with the scanner" when I tried to scan some document.
The all in one CANON PIXMA MP640 is connected via WIFI to my network and the printer works without problems.
I have repaired the disk permission but I have the same problem.
I have also removed the Scanner only from the system preferences and re-installed the software CD from CANON, no changes.
Do you have any idea about this type of problem? and help me for a solution?

First, delete the scanner again. Then I would suggest downloading the latest version from the Canon website.

Select your OS and download/install.

There are several possible reasons that this error message is generated. From the WiSM's perspective, the most common reason is an incorrect configuration of the service port on the Supervisor Engine.
In the case of a WiSM, the service port is used solely for communication between the Supervisor and the WiSM.
Complete these steps in order to get rid of this error message:
1. Create a new VLAN for the WiSM service ports on the Supervisor Engine that does not exist anywhere on the network.
2. Create a DHCP scope setup on your Supervisor to assign IP addresses to the service ports of the controllers.
Note: It is recommended that you create a DHCP scope for the service port of the Catalyst WiSM. Alternatively, you can also session (session slot X process 1 or 2 ) or console directly into the WiSM and set the static IP addresses with the configure interface address service-port command.
3. Assign the WiSM service ports to this newly created VLAN with the command wism service-vlan new VLAN ID on the Supervisor Engine.
This VLAN is used for the Supervisor Engine to communicate with the service port of the WiSM. Refer to Configure Communication Between the Supervisor and Cisco WiSM for more information on how to configure the procedure mentioned here.
Cisco bug ID CSCsg59144 is also associated with this error message.
Other possible reasons might be with the backplane connection of the module to the chassis This can be verified by first moving the WiSM to another slot and see if it continues. Sometimes, this might be an issue with the module itself. But these are rare circumstances.
Example:
Configure Communication Between the Supervisor 720 and Cisco WiSM
After the Cisco WiSM controller is installed in a slot and detected by the Supervisor, these configurations are made on the Supervisor Engine to communicate with WiSM.
1. Create a DHCP scope for the Service-Port of the Catalyst WiSM.
ip dhcp excluded-address 192.168.10.1 192.168.10.2
ip dhcp pool wism-service-port
network 192.168.10.0 255.255.255.0
default-router 192.168.10.1
Alternatively, you can also session (session slot X proc 1 or 2 ) or console directly into WiSM and set static IP addresses (config Interface Address Service-Port).
Make sure that the service port IP address is not a routable IP address in your network because it is only used for communication between the Sup 720 and the WiSM.
Note: VLSM is supported on all ports, which includes the Service port.
2. Create the WiSM Service Port Gateway and assign the IP address.
Create a VLAN in the Supervisor 720. This VLAN is local to the chassis and is used for communication between Cisco WiSM and Catalyst Supervisor 720 over a Gigabit Interface on the Supervisor and a service port in the Cisco WiSM.
    interface Vlan192
    Description WiSM Service Port Gateway
    ip address 192.168.10.1 255.255.255.0
Note: There should already be a network management VLAN interface to reach the Cat6k.
3. Assign the WiSM Service Ports to a VLAN.
Configure this command to use VLAN 192 to communicate with the service-port.
    wism service-vlan 192

I Photosmart eStation C510a, the zeen will not sync with the printer,or connect to internet.

Hi,
I require some asisstance with my Photosmart eStation C510a. The zeen will not sync with the printer, and I cannot seem to connect it with the internet. When I first installed this printer, it was fine, both the zeen and printer were connected and in sync.
An update was automatically installed by H.P. which appeared to create a problem with the zeen , being unable to sync with the printer, the zeen also lost the internet connection. The printer is working fine, and responds to the zeens commands for printing,
scanning and copying, but I would love to have the internet connection from the zeen, whereby I can use it for emailing etc.
Is there anyone out there that can help?
