Lost computer originally synced with... Will I loose by syncing to new computer?

I lost the computer I synced my 3Gs with. Will I lose my photos and music if I sync to a new computer?

My bad, automatic downloads will only download new purchases between devices after setting it up. When you try to sync your iphone, it will let you know that your media content will be deleted, and prompt you to transfer purchases. This will put purchased content onto your new computer.

  • I opened an older catalog and lost the original catalog with over 2 years of photos on it --Help

I opened an older catalog and lost the original catalog with over 2 years of photos on it (I never opened any other catalogs---I never chose to back it up either). it is not saved anywhere I can see as a catalog on my computer. If I didn't save it before opening the older catalog ( I don't specifically remember saving anything) would it be save in another format other than a catalog somewhere?

What happens if you choose File->Open Recent? Is the other catalog listed, and can you choose it? Simply switching to a different catalog should not cause the previous catalog to disappear.

  • HT1386 I have a 3GS iphone. I have a message instructing me to restore its                         original setting.  Will I loose all my music on my ipod if I do this?

I have a message instructing me to restore original settings.  If I do this will I loose all my music on the ipod?

What exactly does the message you're getting say? Where are you seeing it?
If the phone is in recovery mode, everything on the phone is already gone.
Your music should already be in the iTunes library on your computer.

  • Lost photos while syncing my new phone

I have a new iphone, plugged it into the computer to sync and selected my iPhone but it has updated it with my old iPhone details. Is there any way of getting back what was on my new iPhone? I had pictures I had not backed up and they have now gone and been replaced with what was on my old phone. I am gutted. Thanks.

  • Progress of my games lost when i sync to new itouch

All progress that is made on the game applications on my iTouch are erased after I sync to my new itouch. I have to start the game over from the start. Is there any way to prevent this from happening?

The application data is stored in the backup and is not part of the sync. You should have restored you new iPod Touch with the backup or your previous one, not just sync.

To get synced photos from an iPod to a computer you need a third-party program like TouchCopy or PhoneView.

  • TS1878 Disabled ipod due to passcode lock and will not respond at all to recovery steps. Original synced computer not got anymore. What else can I do? I don't care if data lost.

My eldest son gave my youngest son his ipod. He locked it with a passcode, couldn't remember and now it is disabled. Will not work trying to get it in recovery/restore mode. Original synced computer not around anymore, either is eldest. Not worried about losing data as my young son can have it now. What else can I try?? I follow the steps and it still says ipod is disabled on ipod screen. iTunes keeps saying it needs passcode.....

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

Next try placing the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs:

    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot

    For how to restore:

    To restore from backup see:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • I have just synced my ipad with my itunes and have lost my original music library on my computer. How do I get it back?

I have just synced my ipad with my itunes on windows and have now lost the original music library on the computer leaving me with just the downloaded songs from my ipad. I don't have the original library on icloud for some reason and was wondering if there was any way to get the original library back on my itunes?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you Mario.
I am currently downloading my CD on my computer and saving them to my phone - AGAIN.
Your help I am sure was great but I am not good at this. The lingo confuses me. I need to find a pal, with an iPhone who knows what they are doing. Someone like you to talk me through this but you don't know my computer.....
Anyway, thanks for your help. You were the only one to reply and that meant a lot.

  • What all information will i loose if I sync iPhone with another computer?

    Hey,
Just wanted to understand what all information will i loose if i sync my iphone with another computer?
will i loose my contacts and messages?
    Thanks
    Cheers
    Divesh

Syncing your iPhone with iTunes on another computer will not erase all data on your iPhone. SMS/MMS will not be touched, photos/video in your iPhone's Camera Roll, the same for notes, email accounts, and iPhone settings.
In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced or manually managed with an iTunes library on a single computer only, and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first with a warning message provided indicating this will happen.
You can sync contacts, calendar events, and Safari bookmarks with the supported applications on multiple computers.
You can transfer iTunes content and photos from one computer along with syncing contacts, calendar events, and Safari bookmarks with the supported applications.
When connecting your iPhone to iTunes on another computer, you will be provided a warning message that your iPhone has been synced with iTunes on another computer. If you don't select to transfer any iTunes content or photos from another computer, no iTunes content and photos that were transferred from a different computer will be erased from your iPhone. If you select to sync contacts, calendar events, and Safari bookmarks only with the supported applications on another computer, only this data will be touched on your iPhone.

  • Computer that was originally synced with Apple TV has crashed

the computer that was originally synced with apple tv has crashed, but the photos and music that was loaded, i don't want to lose them. Is there a way to recover it to my other computer or its just stuck on apple tv until deleted.
In itunes also my apple tv only shows wo tabs, Summary and photos, what happen to the rest of the tabs ?

There is no option of getting content off the AppleTV, it is not a back up storage device. Sorry.
Since you did not make backups, only real option is to void your warranty and open the ATV, remove drive, connect to computer, copy off.
As for only two tabs, it is because you have setup your new computer (drive) as a steaming computer not a computer to sync with. If you change to make it a syncing computer (like you use to have) the ATV will erase all content right then as you can only sync with ONE computer and it is looking for your old one.

  • If i sync my iPhone with another iTunes will i loose all my apps and photos?

If i sync my iPhone with another iTunes will i loose all my apps and photos?

All iTunes content on your iPhone will be removed first.
Unless you transfer photos from another computer when doing so, the photos transferred from the other computer will not be touched.
Photos/videos in the Camera Roll are not part of and not touched with the iTunes sync process.

  • How do I synce my Ipod to a new computer that isnt the one that I originally synced with?

How do I sync my Ipod to a new computer that isnt the one that I originally synced with?

    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the new computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like on of those discussed here:
    newer copy
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.
Note that the iPod backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.
