Lost connection to internet

I have a snow airport and a cable modem. For the past several months at least once a day, I have to reboot my computer in order to access the internet. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Sometimes disabling and restarting the modem and airport will resolve the problem. If anyone has any tricks to try, I will. Thanks, Linda

What you didn't describe is: when you encounter this problem, what does your Mac say when you try to access the internet? What error messages are you getting? Does the little "Airport Pie" in the menu bar show a good signal or a dead signal? Has your computer gone to sleep at all since you were able to access the internet?

  • Lost connection to internet through airport

My Mac at home is configured to a timecapsule and connected through airport wifi. The Time capsule is connected via cable to modem and out via cable to Internet. Up until today everything is fine. started up and i have lost connection to the internet.
Network Preferences is showing that Airport has a self asssigned IP address and cannot connect to internet. The time capsule lights are showing green, as do the Modem, neither are reporting problems.
I have tried all of the "first Aid configurations" i.e. switch off/on etc, also tried a couple of ideas from forums, nothing works. I can connect the Mac directly to the modem via cable and access the internet.
As an aside, My iphone has also lost connectivity through home wifi.
It would appear from other forums that this is a growing problem, however not much in the way of resolution. Any Ideas????

    System Preferences/Internet & Network/Network
    Unlock the padlock
    Locations: Automatic
    Highlight Airport
    Click the Assist Me button
In the pop up window click the Diagnostic button.
System Preferences/Network- Unlock padlock. Highlight Airport. Network Name-select your name. Click on the Advanced button. Airport/Preferred Networks-delete all that is not your network.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined." Click the OK button and lock the padlock. Restart your computer.

    *No internet connection (wireless)*
Check to see if an extra entry is present in the DNS Tab for your wireless connection (System Preferences/Network/Airport/Advanced/DNS).
Delete all extra entries that you find.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined."

  • Lost connection to internet and can't figure out why

    Hello,
I've recently lost my internet connection and I've tried the following: re-enter the pw, turned off/on, reset the network and it's still not working. Has anyone experienced this? What works??

Are you connecting to your own home wireless network? If so, are you able to connect any other devices to it?

  • Lost connection to internet via 'airport' WiFi and 'NETGEAR WNR2000v' base router

After trying to connect 'MacBook Pro SnowLeopard' via Fire Wire '6pin to 9pin' to new 'iMac-LION'  there is no possibility anymore to get contact to the internet, even all Network 'airport' configuration and passwords has been still the same. The 'NETGEAR router' configuration and activity was reset and checked successfully many times. Windows XP through 'Internet Explorer' by Ethernet cable via 'NETGEAR router' still works perfect. But 'airport WiFi' of both Mac's are screwed up suddenly completly after working perfect for more than 1/2 year! Need some help to get it working again!

  • Lost Connectivity (No Internet Light)

Just set up the "Up to 1M Dry Loop Annual Plan" and am leasing the Westell 6100 Gateway. My service was activated three days ago. Everything was fine for about 48 hours -- the primary computer (involved in setup) and three other laptops (via a wireless connection) all suffered no connectivity or speed issues.
Then, last night, I notice the "Internet" light is no longer lit. It is neither green nor red. Just unlit. All other requisite lights (DSL, Power, Ethernet) are green. However, I receive errors on the browser pages I attempt to open, suggesting that the “page cannot be found.”  All other laptops recognize my wireless network and claim to have excellent connections, respectively, but none can connect to the Internet.
Any advice? I’m restarted the modem and the computers several times with no luck.

UPDATE: Ran through diagnostics and troubleshooting with Veirzon phone support. Technician will be out to the apartment tomorrow. I will let you guys know how it turns out.

  • WRT54G lost connection to Internet from Wired computer, but wireless still connect

I have the router hard wired to a desktop computer and have 2 other computers connecting wirelessly through it.  The hard wired computer suddenly could not connect to the internet, yet the 2 wireless computers still can.  The computer was 5 yrs. old and I had bought a new one, so thought it was the best time to set it up.  I have the same problem with the new computer.  The only way I could get access to the internet on it was to run a line from the USB port on the DSL modem directly to the computer.  I can still see the 2 other computers and their files through the router, just can't get the router to see the modem from the hard wired computer.  The 2 wireless computers can access the modem through the router, but the wired one can't!  According to Linksys the problem is with my ethernet/lan on the computer.(both computers?!)  According to the repair/diagnose on my lan connection, it says there is a problem with the router or modem.  Any suggestions?

I found the problem, the router is bad.  I bought a new router and installed it, made no changes to the computer hardware, and the new router worked fine with the ethernet connection for the hard wired computer.  I am really disappointed in the help that I received from linksys.  They kept insisting there was nothing wrong with the router and that the 2 computers I tried to hard wire to the router both had bad ethernet ports.  I will not be buying their products again.

  • I am not able to connect to internet using Firefox. I have Un-installed and reinstalled Firefox again, but still get the "Cannot find server" message. For now I'm using Internet Explorer but I would like to go back to using Firefox. Thanks.

I lost connectivity to internet thru Firefox a while ago. Contacted my ISP and we tried many things before discovering it was a Firefox issue, not a modem or router or browser issue. Even after uninstalling/einstalling Firefox fresh, I still cannot connect to internet and get the "Unable to connect- Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.yahoo.com" message.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

If you get a network timed out error, try disabling the security software on the computer during the download and install.

  • Router Lost Connection to the Internet

Ok, my Linksys WRT54G router v2.2 lost connection to the internet today. Right now I am directly plugged into the modem to access this site, for some reason the routing is not picking up the internet connection when connected to the router. I can access the router admin pages through wireless and I cannot seem to figure out what to do. I have done power cycles for both the modem and router in tandem and nothing seems to work. Why is the internet connect not being picked up by the modem? Is there anything I can do? Thank you in advance.

Check the connection first from the Modem directly if getting valid Ip .... connect the router & try this setting ....
Access setup page of router ....
On the main setup page the ""Internet Connection Type"" should be
on ""Obtain IP Automatically - DHCP “. Click on the Save Settings
    button.
Now click on the sub tab ""MAC address clone"".
    - Click on enable
Click Clone & click save settings
Check WAN Ip on Status page of router ....
If getting Valid Ip .... try going online

  • Flash Player download keeps failing with lost connection and then gives up.  satellite Internet connection

    Win XP. Firefox 34.0.5 (latest)
The Flash  Player download keeps failing with lost connection and then gives up.I am on a  satellite Internet connection.
It seems to be extremely slow even when loading the installer which is only 1MB. Then when I run the installer and it starts to download the installation there are frequent messages about losing the connection and then finally gives up.
I have had problems with other software failing when I am on a satellite link. This is most likely because of the huge latency which may be taken as a link failure. Ping times are typically 800ms but can be 2000ms sometimes!

    Hello,
The online shim installer, which you are using actually downloads and installs Flash Player silently in the background.  If your satelite connection is experiencing latency issues it could result in the failure to download.  Please try the full installer posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows page, in the 'Still having problems' section.

  • Lost all ability to connect to internet - Please Help!!

This evening, opened my MBP 2010 and found that my networks will not connect to internet.  It says I'm connected to wifi but nothing will load, no apps that require network connection, safari, nothing.  Tried ethernet cable which says connected with DHCP when I'm looking at network prefs, but no connection of any kind.  I have a Verizon Fios router with Time Capsule (most recent version from Jan 2012) creating a separate network and a AEBS and Airport Express extending that network throughout the house.  No problems of any significance (that couldn't be solved with turning router on and off) in the past.  Of note, my wife's Macbook Air (which I'm typing this email on) is having NO problems connecting to either the Verizon network or the Airport network.  On my MBP, I get neither.  I have tried deleting the networks from Network Prefs and adding back but they just will not connect.  Is there a way to completely reset my network prefs and start over?  Do I need to do that?  How can I have one Macbook that connects to everything and another that can't connect to anything.  Both are running 10.7.4 and have similar software installed.  I tried booting in SAFE MODE and get the same results.  I even get the exclamation mark inside the wifi symbol on my menu bar for both of them.  WHAT THE HECK is going on??!!?  PLEASE HELP!!!

OK, I understand that you can connect to the Verizon router using an Ethernet connection and wireless does not work.
I also understand that you have deleted all of the network listings in System Preferences > Network > WiFi > Advanced.
Please check again to make sure that all of the listings are cleared out. Be sure to click OK and then Apply when you do this.
Next, open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > KeyChain Access
Look for any listing with the name of the Verizon wireless network. Click on that listing to highlight it, then click the Delete key on your Mac.
Then do the same for any of the wireless networks that are provided by the Apple devices.
Close KeyChain Access and restart your Mac.
See if you can log on to the Verizon wireless network now. You should be asked for the password to connect, if you successfully deleted the old networks and the listings for the password in KeyChain Access.
