Lost connection to itunes using Apple TV2

My issue is that my Apple TV2 often loses it's connection to my iTunes on the iMac while using homesharing. I can be watching something from my iTunes and suddenly ATV2 jumps back to the main screen and there's no info above "computers". The only work around I have is to quit iTunes on my iMac and restart it. This sometimes works, other times I must restart the ATV2. The ATV2 still shows it's main screen and everything except homesharing works.
Sometimes the problem will not happen for days and other times 5 times during one movie!.. As you can imagine, this is very frustrating and takes that gorgeous shine right of that little black box.
Background:
I have a iMac OSX Lion 10.7.1 (latest updates) in my study and an Apple TV 2 (latest updates) plugged into the the Sony Bravia in the living room. The distance is circa 3.5 meters. My Netgear Wireless N router lives in a cupboard about half way between the two.

You may need to check the settings for your iTunes Store on the iPad and iPhone.
Sign out of the iTunes account, restart the device and sign back in.

i have read many articles for this problem but there is no solution, some say restart the router, others say uncheck the option to sync iphone over wi-fi, others suggest not hitting the "done" button after setting up homeshare on itunes, NONE of them work. Did not work. I've selected iMessage to ON and left it. After a few hours I recieved a message "activation unsuccessful. Turn on iMessage to try again". This has been going on for the past 3 days.

Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you are not able to restore the iOS device since you get an error 9. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

Check your security software
Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006. Sometimes security software can prevent your device from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your device.
Check your security software and settings to make sure that they aren't preventing a connection to the Apple servers.

Start with trying to put in your iPhone into recovery mode and then plug it in to iTunes and then follow the steps to restore it. If in recovery mode and still not getting anywhere, check with the article that you came from to troubleshoot it further.

This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

I was able to connect to iTunes and downloaded some apps, but now whenever I choose to buy an app, the password is accepted and it makes to download, however I get a 'cannot connect to istore'. All the time I can access the web with safari. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Can't Import Songs To iTunes Using Apple Lossless Encoder

I have about 4,000 songs in FLAC format (which is a lossless format) on my external hard drive. I want to import them into iTunes using the Apple Lossless Encoder. I called Apple support and asked them how to do this, and they told me to go under "Preferences" in iTunes and chose to import using Apple Lossless Encoder.
I did this using Preferences>General>Import Settings, and then went to File>Add Folder to Library, however, it still imported my songs as AAC Audio Files. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

iTunes cannot read nor import FLAC files - not without third-party plugins, anyway, and I don't know of any that will allow iTunes to convert a FLAC file to another format - so I'm a bit confused as to the procedure you're following. If all you're doing is using the Add to Library command and choosing the FLAC files, it's quite possible that iTunes is misinterpreting the format and adding what is in reality an invalid link with erroneous format information.
If you have some sort of third-party plugin for FLAC for iTunes, please post that information and perhaps someone here can determine whether iTunes can do a conversion successfully.

Don't know if this has any bearing on the conversation at hand, but I ran into this issue last night. Started when I couldn't purchase anything via Comixology. Which caused a lot of swearing.
But then realized, that I couldn't get to the Apple store either.
Figuring that it was my wifi access point being a jerk, I reset that. And "forgot", then reconfigured my wireless.
Still nothing.
At this point, I checked our ISP (Charter) to see if they had an outage. They did. DNS servers were hosed. I gave up and went to bed.
This morning. Same thing. One thing I noticed, was that all of our computers -- not iDevices -- had no problems. Weird.
So I checked the firewall, and found that every request was going to Malaysia, or Thailand. I have country blocking enabled on our firewall. So, I thought that was weird. Checked the IP addresses that were blocked, and found that they were Akamai addresses. I allowed one device through, to test, and everything works.
Wondering if Apple is leaning on Akamai for the flood of traffic that the IOS 6 upgrade is causing.
In any case, if your ISP, or firewall, router, what-not blocks Asian rim countries, it's worth a check.
