Lost contacts, slow, crashes, FF has become a brick

Totally given up on FF, and i was a long long time supporter. I moved from IE because it crashed when opening more than 10 tabs. Now FF chokes on 7 or 8 tabs, and "Not Responding" has become the standard mode of FF. Have to close and reopen FF about 5 to 8 times an evening, just to stop all the hangups.
News movies choke and have to spool up, and now all my email contacts are gone. No, not a hotmail/outlook problem because the contacts appear perfectly in Chrome or IE.
Worse, trying to post this question was a root canal, because it says I'm a registered user, but does not like my password, but does not offer a way to reset it. Had to create a new one.
Sorry FF, like an old girl fiend, you were fun while it lasted, but I'm going back to something that works.

Hi Robert, <br /> Sorry you are having problems.
I agree people will give up on Firefox if it behaves the way you describe. Firefox works well for most people. Most do not have any of the problems you describe.
If you wish to give Firefox another try look at his suggestion
* Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems
That may solve some of the problems, and we should be able to assist you with any remaining problems.
*Are you able to find your old threads in this forum ?
*What is the original user name that you were using ?
*We should be able to reset the password for you. If you wish to continue using the old username let me know and I will give more details.
Would you like to try the reset (note you will loose some information, and extensions.) I suggest you bookmark home sites of any extensions before doing a reset.
Please post back with how you get on.

• IOS4 update = lost contacts, apps crash and cannot sync my music need help

I like many had no problems with updating in the past. I even enjoyed the days off an update just to get to grips with new features. This experience has been abolished with the IOS4. I’ve had my 3G for just over a year (just). I came to update to the IOS4. The update took a long time but I got there in the end. However when iTunes sync came into play is where Im having problems my apps moved across no problems but then I got iTunes couldn’t back up my iPhone because the computer wouldn’t allow. I googled this and came to apples support guide on the matter. which was just delete the back up file in preferences (before I did this I did get a text from someone I know but his name wasn’t coming up just the number I feared then Id lost my contacts) so I did delete my back up. but then the next problem was iTunes couldn’t backup because of an unknown error (-20) (I’ve researched this unknown error and I can’t find anything on it) so I restored the software on iTunes and still I get this error
so now Im left with a iPhone with no music, no contacts, no saved app data even apps crash on start. I read on softpedia (http://news.softpedia.com/news/Apple-Knew-iPhone-3G-Owners-Would-Run-Into-iOS-4- Upgrade-Problems-Customer-Claims-145332.shtml) that an apple employee suggested that apple knew this was going to be a problem and there will be a fix at a later date after the iphone4 and IOS4 rollout and either to wait for this, or buy an iphone 4. To simply buy an iPhone 4 is not an option I bought my phone outright on a payandgo and Im disgusted that an apple employee can even suggest that. now that I know Im not alone on this I want to know just what apple are going to do to fix this asap (for the money I paid I could off got a decent laptop with Skype) I expect and demand a resolution to my problem that isn’t going to cost me more time and money than it already has.

just an update,
after reading that some people who are contacting customer support were having some success in fix/getting the iphone replaced. I decided to do the same after going through some testing with the customer care assistant. he told me that I should uninstall itunes and other apple software and reinstall itunes.
uninstall itunes, quicktime, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, Apple Application Support in that order
it didnt help me but I have now a referance number and I have to ring back tomorrow. the funny thing was that when the customer support guy was putting me on hold to find this resolution he told me that 'this is strange because we have not had this problem or any problems with our update on this phone'.........
I corrected the man and told him 'well, with respect if you was to go on your support forum you will find page after page of people with similar problems not getting answered'
and now im seeing people are having problems with the iphone4 lmfao

I have no idea whether there is a causal relationship but since moving to Lion and iCloud, my iMac has become so unresponsive that I wind up having to crash and restart most of the time.  This is true regardless of the app I am using at the time.
The specs of this iMac are:
iMac 27 inch, late 2009 model with a 3.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4 Gig 1067 Mhz DDR3, using OSX Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)
I have Mackeeper installed and according to the scans I have run, everything is fine. No virus, no junk files . . . no problems at all . . .
Except that for all practical purposes, my computer isn't working.
I am nearly totally deaf and live in an isolated, rural area of NW Missouri and this computer is what I mainly rely on to contact friends, relatives and business associtates!
Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive may be failing.
If you have more than ten or so files or folders on your Desktop, move them, temporarily at least, somewhere else in your home folder.
If iCloud is enabled, disable it.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard, mouse, and monitor, if applicable. Launch the usual set of applications you use when you notice the problem.
Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the page that opens.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Step 2
You must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way as above. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Post the 50 or so most recent messages in the log — the text, please, not a screenshot.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out before posting.

• My mac has become very slow and crashes frequently after installing Lion

My mac has become very slow and crashes frequently after installing Lion. I have a 4 GB DDR3 ram and 2.4 GHz Processor. The Mac was running just fine on Snow Leopard. Has anyone else faced this issue?
Any suggestions on how to solve it?
Thank you
Kimberly M. Noronha

I refer you to the TM expert
http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/14.html
As a extra precaution I would copy the user file folders of Music, Documents, Pictures etc to another external drive and disconnect, just in case.
Always maintain TWO backups of your data at all times, since your messing with one, you need another until your back at two again.

• My ipod 5th generation keeps on crashing and has a slow performance

my ipod 5th generation keeps on crashing and has a slow performance, then I restarted it, it went back to normal.. was the crashing part and slowing down normal? just bought it last december 2012

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
-  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Since downloading and installing Yosemite 10.10 on my MacBook Air, using the Internet via Safari on my Hevanet server has become a rather useless effort due to unreasonable slowness and frequent Gmail crashes when I actually do manage to get through to the Internet.

• My MacBook has become very very slow

My MacBook has become very slow for the last 2 weeks and often gets hangs with mail/address book applications. I have tried disc cleaning and permission repair but no change. Anybody has solution?

That confirms the hard disk requires replacement. There is nothing you can do about it until you return to school.
If you want to attempt a repair using your sister's Mac you need a FireWire cable with the proper connectors on each end. Connect the two computers, restart yours in Target Disk Mode by holding the T key as you start it, and run Disk Utility on your sister's Mac. The option to repair your hard disk will appear.
I don't believe the error you describe will be repairable.
If you have any information on the computer that you do not want to lose forever, copy those files from your computer to your sister's Mac. Since the disk is already damaged some or all of your data may already be lost.

• Statechart has become unbearably slow!

I have been developing with Statechart for a while without any problems. It seems that the more you add states the slower it gets to generate the code or when you make changes to the statechart variables (input, output or statedate).
I don’t think my Statechart is that big. It has about 25 states. Since I added the last 5 states it has become very slow. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to re-generate the code. I can’t afford to wait that much time every time I need to make a small change to my statechart.
I don’t think my computer is the problem. It’s a P4 3GHz with 1GB of ram. It doesn’t have much installed on it…normally it’s running very fast.
I hope there is a fix for that….if not we will be very disappointed…we have invested so much in this tool (time and money). We needed to upgrade everything to 8.5 to get Statechart module even if we had 8.2. We are at an advance stage in our development and Statechart is at the heart of our system.

Here is how the progress bar goes:
Parsing statechart diagram:  Bar progresses slowly in 3 or 4 step. Takes about 1min.
Processing 1 of 8 graph…8 of 8 graph:  Goes through 1 to 8 fairly quickly: about 20 sec.
Then it goes immediately to: Processing statechart:  Stalls there with a full bar for about 12min.
While this occurs Labview is utilizing 50% of the CPU the whole time.
Like I mentioned before this is not the only problem. After I modify an output variable, everything stalls for several minutes when I close outputs.ctl.
Another big problem is when I load the code to the Real-time platform (PXI-8186) it stalls at trans graph1.vi (which is a part of the statechart) for over 10 minutes.
I will get in contact with NI support.

• Firefox has becomes unresponsive and slow after I tried to install addons (not installed)?

I recently format my computer and reinstall the windows 7, since this was the only solution that I know to fix the problem with Firefox (I previously had this problem too). I download the latest version of firefox 33.0.2 and install it . This version was super fast. But becomes unresponsive and slow, when I tried to install the add-ons. I visited the official website of firefox and search for the addons, when I tried to install some addons, Firefox crashed. From then on, it has becomes quite slow and can't restore previous sessions. Even to type my email address, It takes more than 5 minutes and becomes unresponsive frequently (after I typed each letter).
I want to know whether this is due to some viruses, or this version of firefox is not "stable"

Hey there,
We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.
#Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
#Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste that into the "Post a Reply" box. (Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the ID's. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like)

<br><br>
After you've done this, you could try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings, disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
*In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button , click Help and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
*In previous Firefox versions, click on the Firefox button at the top left of the Firefox window and click on Help (or click on Help in the Menu bar, if you don't have a Firefox button) then click on Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
* On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".<br>

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.
To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

• My imac has become extremely slow

Hi, I have a 4 year old 27 inch imac, running 10.10.3; it has become extremely slow to boot up, to open apps and to get online.  I'm a fairly heavy user of dropbox, and I am wondering if that is the issue -- other than that I run very run of the mill apps -- itunes, word/ppt/excel/, ical, imessage, firefox and safari, adobi acrobat, some use of iphoto.  Suggestions?

• "Remote" App Has Become Sluggish, Slow to Respond

I've searched this and other forums and have yet to see the issue I'm having addressed. After successfully installing and using the iPhone "Remote" app to control my Apple TV, its performance has become erratic. While selecting and/or swiping actions were instantaneous, they're now delayed, sometimes by four or five seconds. My Apple IR remote still works perfectly. Also, the Remote app on my iPhone works fine on the TV set up in various Apple Stores I've visited. A clue that may be relevant is that my RF Dish receiver remote is a bit slow now, too, although not as bad as the WiFi-driven iPhone Remote app. It seems that something in the room is creating these problems (there are no fluorescent lights) and all worked fine months ago. Anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this? (I didn't post this on the Apple TV forum since that device and its dedicated remote are functioning normally.)

Encountered this too and only recently. In my case appears to coincide with downloading most recent version of iTunes.

(Earlier today I posted this question on the "iPhone" section of this thread but perhaps it's more appropriate here.)

ok well it seems unlikely that your issue is with the appletv itself.
could well be wifi interference.
any cordless phones or cordless doorbells, or any new cars turned up close by with remote car alarms, or a new microwave (or old one starting to fail) ? all this sort of stuff can kill wifi.
