Lost contacts when updating to OS 5

I updated my iphone 4g to OS5 last night and lost all of my contacts.  Is there a way to download my contacts from my imac back onto my phone?

When I go to settings, then icloud, if I scroll to the very bottom of icloud, the very last thing I can do is 'delete account.'  Does that mean delete the icloud account?
Ian, I see that you have answered many questions from several people on this board and I for one want to thank you for taking the time to do so.  I' ve had my iphone for quite a while and am still very afraid of it.  I use it for the phone, getting my emails, and messaging.  I have never used any of the other features.
Now that I updated and lost my contacts, it confirms why I am so afraid of it.
I would never use icloud so I can't even tell you why I got it.

  • Lost contacts when updated iPhone?  Where are they?

Updated to 6.0.1. and when I went to use phone my contact have gone.  Any idea where they might be or how I can get them back?

I've no idea what this is, sorry.  I've since tried a backup restore but only got favorite contacts back.  How would I find out what program is used during sync?

Lost contacts wen updated phone and a previous device iPhone 3G contacts were placed on my new device

If you created a backup some time before the update, it is possible to get your contacts back. You can manually extract data out of the backup using a backup extractor software. It should be easy. It's a good idea as well to sync it with a PIM application as appropriate such as Gmail etc.

  • DBCA Producing ORA 12547 TNS lost contact when I try to create a database

    Hi all!
I just installed Oracle 11GR2 (only software not creating a database) on Oracle Linux 6.4 64 Bit via Oracle VM VirtualBox. I created a new Listener to create a database. It looks working. But when I try to create a new database with dcba; I had an ORA-12547 TNS lost contact after I had specified all options for creating the database. I'm too new to get what's going on here. Already, the Oracle Software has occured a few errors while the installation. But the software has been installed successfully at the end. Maybe I went wrong from the beginning. What should I do about managing that ORA error? Can anybody suggest me something?
Btw I have installed the all installations with information on this link: ORACLE-BASE - Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2) Installation On Oracle Linux 6
If we consider that I did nothing after those installation, what should the next step be to create a database successfully?

Hey I just updated to v4.6 on my Bold and now I can't find any of my contacts...calendar and outlook info still there but all of my contacts were lost...HELP!
    Thanks
    Solved!

    Hi and Welcome!
Depending on how you did the update, it may have created, on your PC, a backup file. If you did the update via USB tether on your PC (e.g., not OTA), then search your hard drive for a file with an ipd extension (*.ipd). Inspect the results (date/time of the file) and then choose one to use in the restore. Then, launch the DTM software and conduct a selective restore:

If you updated OTA or skipped the desktop backup during the update, then I am sorry for your loss, but there's nothing to be done.

  • HT1386 lost my address book contacts when updating my iphone 3s

did a recent update through itunes and lost my address book contacts on my iphone

Aren't you using your phone as recommended and synching your contacts with your computer (Address Book, Outlook) or a cloud service?  Just synch them back.
If you're not using your phone as recommended then your contacts are likely gone.  Lesson learned.

  • Lost contacts when turned cloud off

I lost the contacts on my iphone 4S when a tech guy at work turned off my cloud and had my contacts update to Outlook.  I turned the cloud back on, but don't know how to get the contacts back.  Now I have duplicates and triplicate contacts, but the phone numbers are all gone.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You may have opted to have iCloud data overwrite your iPhone data rather than merge it.
What happens if you turn off contact syncing on the phone, some users have reported that their contacts are restored.

  • Lost Contact when I upgraded to 7.5.2/iOS5

When I upgraded to 10.7.2/iOS5, my wife's iPhone3GS address book was lost. I thought I had backed it up via iTunes (under her phone designation), but when I finished the conversion, her iPhone3GS had MY AddressBook/Contacts. Note: My iPhone4 AddressBook converted accurately. Can I get her contacts back from Time Machine?

Unfortunately, the loss is a result of upgrading to 10.7.2 and iOS5. Throw into the mix that I've updated my iTunes as well to 10.5. All this was done to lead into a smooth transition to iCloud and all the features of the OS updates. Like I said, my contacts in Address Book and on my iPhone4 Contacts went well. It's my wife's information that was lost and replaced with MY contacts. Her iPhone3GS is running iOS5 now. Since I've been syncing her phone since before the transition, I was hoping to retrieve her contacts from Time Machine prior to Oct.12.
Is THAT possible? How do I achieve this?

  • Erased contacts when updating N8 to Belle

Hi everybody! I really hope some of you can help me! I have updated my Nokia N8 to Nokia Belle with Nokia Updater for Mac but I cannot find contacts, sms and notes. All disappeared and unfortunately I don't have a backup. It is urgent and important. At the end of the update it was asking me if I wanted to import contacts from another Nokia phone, but as it wasn't the case, I bypassed that option. Surely I did something wrong but I really do hope that contacts, notes and sms are saved somewhere on my Mac. Can anybody help me, please?

Have you never taken a backup on your contacts before?
Perhaps you have taken backup before over the air by connecting to your nokia account with the phone...
I am not familiar with mac but in case you have your contacts in a mail application there must be a way to restore them to your phone.
Start using Funambol further on is an alternative anyhow...or the email clients Thunderbird or Outlook 2010 or even open up a live account on live.com. best way to have contacts is to have them stored on a pc I think and edit the contacts from that platform..but even Office 365 is a extremely nice way to have full controll of thing such us several computers or handsets. 6 dollars a month or something like that...worth every penny, but I know some people disagree on that. I dont have the time to hassle with backups and all other syncs of notes, todo, calender, especially when using a couple of devices and phones..

I dont have a clue why people insists on having their contacts just on a phone and not in a cloud service....
Sooner or later the contacts will vanish, the phone get stolen or broken or malhandling of the user...
I hope you get a solution and that you have contacts stored somewhere.

  • Lost apps when updated to nokia belle.

after I updated my nokia n8 to belle, some of my applications and games are gone but the memory of my phone is the same as if it doesn't lost any apps. Is there any way to retrieve/locate them?

I got same problem too with my N8. Some apps are also visible as icons but i found that ALL are actually shown as installed in Settings->Installations->Installed (freely translated). But "naturally" there is no way to add an shortcut/icon from that list, or to reinstall it easily.
And, when i tried to go into Ovi app it demands that i update to version -- and its installer starts but fails towards the end displaying black screen shorlty before disappearing. I've tried many times. And according to log it is Installed but it keeps saying i need new version. Maybe it's because, when i earlier went to a web like in ovi.com, it sillily enough asked me to install some 2.x version of ovi!
Also, i hope that when i reinstall the apps from Ovi, it won't charge again for the paid ones which at least the Nokia suite lists for me.
PS. It's possible that the fix i found to nonfunctional WLAN, resetting the phone data+restore from pre-upgrade backup, has caused aditional corruption. And btw, i'm far from sure Belle is better -- it's still slow and weblets have bad design with too much space around them and, so far, no resize opion. And calendat weblet show only one appointment (but at least it isn't repeating like in Anna : "you have meeting on Thursday" + "thu 1.2 meeting..."
Hope Nokia will test future updates better next time... and advice us how to for instance get shortcuts/icons back.
Update: Now, trying to get Ovi App work, i accepted to install the 2.x version. It succeded but now the app goes stays in Loading... (forever it seems). Can this be installed via USB?

  • Lost Notes When Updated to io7

I lost all my notes, when I updated to io7. How can I retrieve my notes?

All 3rd party apps on your iPhone should be in your iTunes library on your computer, and will or should be as long as you have Sync Apps selected under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. With this selected, after downloading an app with your iPhone the app will be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync your iPhone with iTunes after doing so.
You can re-download an app with iTunes on your computer or with your iPhone and you won't be charged again for a purchased app as long as you use the same iTunes account to re-download the app that was used to purchased the app originally.
Check under Reinstalling the application with this link.

  • Lost contacts after update to 4.3.2

I updated my iPhone4 software to version 4.3.2 and now I have lost all of my contacts. How do I get them back? I have already tried right-clicking on my iPhone from within iTunes and selecting Restore From Backup... and that did not work. I have read that other people are having the same problem. What is up with the update 4.3.2?

Robert..I too am having the same problem since updating my iphone 4 software to v 4.3.2.
I am running a 2007 E Class with HPF v1 bluetooth module. Phone paired OK but contacts messed up.
Contacted Apple and they said it was a Mercedes problem.
Contacted my local Mercedes dealership and they said it was a known Apple softare update problem. They suggested I update my HPF module to the latest v2 which I did but it has made no difference to the messed up contacts list.
Booked an appointment with an Apple 'Genius' but he said he had not heard of the problem. Iasked if the software update could be reversed but was told no.  The 'Genius' did offer to change my phone for one with the old software v 4.2 but unfortunaetly all the phones they had in stock had the newer version.
I am returning my iPhone 4 back to Vodafone as it is no good if I can't use it in the car to keep in touch with clients.
Back to good old Nokia for me.

  • Lost voicemails when updating to 4.2.1

When I updated to 4.2.1, I lost voicemails dating back to August that I need for court. It seems they are still there, since it says my mailbox is 97% full even though it is only displaying voicemails dating back to December. Is there any way I can recover these files? Are they stored in backup files as texts are?

...before the update, it was working PERFECTLY, which would lead me to believe the update did something to my phone.
Uh, no. Software updates do not cause hardware to fail. If in fact it is a hardware failure, it is merely coincidence. A really crappy coincidence, but still a coincidence.
    Shalini1975 wrote:
So basically, if I hadn't done the update, I would be fine.
No guarantees, if it is a hardware issue, it could have still failed.
    Shalini1975 wrote:
Either ATT or Apple needs to address this.
Why? Your device is out of warranty. AT&T has nothing to do with this, it is ridiculous for anyone to state that the service provider has any responsibility for what is a hardware issue with your device.
Why do you think Apple has a need to address this? You are out of warranty. The offer a $199 Out of Warranty exchange if this is in fact a hardware issue. That is the extent of their responsibility.
Depending on how long it has been since your warranty expired, you might find a sympathetic Apple employee that will overlook the fact that you are out of warranty, but I wouldn't count on that. They should be willing to look at the device and assist you in confirming that it is an actual hardware issue. At that point, it's your choice to do the Out of Warranty exchange or find another solution (3rd party repair company, find a different device, etc).

  • Lost contacts when in use (not when synching). Is this a Lion problem?

    HI all
I have recently updated to Lion OS. When I synched my phone last night all was well. This morning when I used my contacts, they were all there. Now all of a sudden they are ALL gone.
Am I able to get these back-they are important ones!
Is this a "Lion" problem? I am also noticing screen/app freezes.
    thanks

Some of the contacts data is stored in the iPhone backup made when you backup with iTunes, but this is for limited purposes such as maintaining the recent call list and favorite contacts.  You should be syncing your contacts with an app on your Mac like Address Book or cloud service (i.e MobileMe, iCloud, Gmail)
What you can do now to try to recover your contatacts.
    1. Reset phone - press both home and sleep/wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    2. Restore the existing backup in iTunes:
       a. Disable automatic syncing on connection in iTunes Prefs > Devices > Disable
       b. Connect phone
        c. Right-click the device tab on left side of iTunes window and select "Restore from backup."

  • Lost contacts when the iCloud turned on

I turned on the iCloud on my iOs 6.1.4 iPhone 5, and turned on the contacts (it was the first time that I configured the iCloud account, so it asked me to merge with the iCloude contacts. Since it was a fresh iCloude account, I opted the option to merge the contacts). But when I checked the recent caller log, I noticed that some of my contacts are lost. Is there anyway I can get back my contacts?

    Kilted Tim
    It worked!  Thank you.
Now I just need to delete the email address that are cluttering up my phone contact list.
    Again, thanks.
