Lost Dashboard widget beyond screen bounds

I run a dual-monitor set up with my MacBook, and use Dashboard with and without the external monitor. As such, I keep my widgets on one screen and close together, so that they're still visible on the MacBook's LCD when it's used on its own.
However, I've just noticed that I've lost a widget off the screen. When I enter or leave Dashboard, I can see it fly past the screen and off the right edge of the monitor. I already have another copy of this widget, so how can I go about removing it from the Dashboard? I needn't have two copies of it running.

I just discovered a solution to this!
In Dashboard, click the + to show the widgets bar, then select 'Manage widgets'. Uncheck the lost widget to disable it, then check it again to re-enable it. All copies of the widget will have been removed from the Dashboard, including those off the screen. Just add as many as you need if you want any back, though they'll need reconfiguring in some cases. (For example, iStat Pro remembered all my settings, but the Weather widget returned to default settings.)

• Lost Dashboard Widgets

I was cleaning up my Mac and stupidly trashed my Widgets App. I'm confused on which app I should download. What would the original be? Thanks, John

I don't think there is a Widgets app unless it was a special one from somewhere. My standard widgets reside in a in a Widgets folder in the Library folder at the main level of my drive. A few specific one I installed reside in a Widgets folder in a Library folder in my own user folder.
If you deleted the Widgets folder in the main Library then you may have to either try a custom install from your disc, or an Archive and Install, or use the Pacifist Utility which you can download to find the widgets on your disc and restore them to your Library. Alternatively restore them from your drive backup, which of course everybody has (or should for just this kind of situation).
I'd first check to make sure the Widgets really are missing from you main Library folder. If they aren't we'll need to find out why they are missing. If they are then for me it raises secondary concerns as to what may have been removed during cleaning since usually you should not do things to the main level folders unless you know what you are doing (and have backups).

• Problems restoring lost stickies/widgets to dashboard

Hello! I'm on a late 2006 Macbook that was originally running Tiger, then Snow Leopard and later Lion. I know my mac can give way anytime so I decided back up my mac on a time machine and to wipe the hdd via disk utility and reinstall Lion. (kinda regretting )
I have had some stickies since wayyyy back. And I am having trouble finding this .plist files and com-widget files in the Library/Preferences or Users/username/preferences (doesn't exist, no idea why) folder in my external hdd. I have found a thread (but have since lost the link) where a person commented that he was unable to find the .plist files in this folder as well (in this context, he upgraded from tiger to snow leopard).
Could it be that mine is somewhere else? I have tried searching in spotlight for the com.apple.dashboard.client.plist /com.apple.dashboard.plist as well as com-widget but nothing appears....
help? thanks in advance!
also have a problem accessing the backup i made prior to the hdd wipe (they are dark pink in the time machine) but i guess i should refer to another thread for that..

Hi,
Based on Lions rules of precedence, resources are searched by the system in ~/Library, /Library (...networks & then system Library).
So, if you installed the widgets as a user on the original system, they should be in ~/Library/Widgets and the plist should be in ~/Library/Preferences/.
A dashboard widget should store it's resources within these places only.
I wonder if the TimeMachine backup was complete?
Good luck!

• Windows opening beyond the bounds of the screen

When I launch any of the iWorks applications or Stickies or Preview, I am unable to view the open document on the screen unless I select the "play" option from the drop down menu.
Documents must be opening beyond the bounds of the screen.
Any suggestions anyone on how I might correct this?

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it but still no joy. Preview and Stickies, along with the iWorks all seem to open beyond the screen. Microsoft (Word and powerpoint) and other 3rd party software (omnigraffle for example) do not seem to be affected. If I connect to a VGA I can see all the windows open but when I return to viewing documents from my laptop I am unable to see the file open before me.

• Dashboard Widget causes error and I can't get dashboard to stay open - how do I find the file to delete?

I put "levelwidget" on the dashboard - it is supposed to make a macbook into a Level. Sounded interesting...now I regret!
The widget is corrupted and now when I try to open the dashboard it immediately closes and gives me an error message "you can't open the application motion because power pc applications are no longer supported"
How do I delete this widget so I can open the dashboard.
I've tried to look up the file, but can't seem to find dashboard widget files.
Thoughts?

Sorry didn't realise you were an Apple Newbie!
No problem, when you're in the Finder, check along the menus at the top of the screen.
You should see Finder (in Bold) File, Edit, View, Go, Window and Help. Click the Go menu and with the mouse go to the second to last item which is 'Go to Folder…' then you be presented with a dialogue box ready to type some text into.
Now you can type the text ~/Library/Widgets into the box. The Tilde character is next to the left Shift key (Press and hold the Shift key and then press the ~ key.
It will be easier if whilst you're reading this message, you highlight the text ~/Library/Widgets and go to the Edit menu, select Copy, then go to the Finder and when you've the Go to Folder… dialogue window open, go Edit Paste and it will fill the box for you. Then just click the Go button and it should show your Widgets. Again if not the one just repeat the Go to Folder… bit and this time just remove the ~ at the beginning of the line

• Apple Remote Desktop Dashboard Widget v3.6 not functioning as advertised

Just saw there's an updated (A)RD Widget.
I've downloaded it but seems exactly the same as previous versions.
I can't view widget of MacMini Server. Instead has yellow triangle with exclamation point.
Can't interact/launch ARD by clicking on widget of any individual compter, SL or Lion.
Grey screen with or without spinning wheel for Lion clients.
Anyone getting the 3.6 widget to funcrtion as described?
From Apple:
About Apple Remote Desktop Dashboard Widget v3.6
The Apple Remote Desktop Dashboard widget* gives you an instant, at-a-glance view of the remote computers in your network.
It’s fully integrated with the Apple Remote Desktop administrative application, so a click on a particular computer will allow you to select and start working with any computer in the system.
* Requires a licensed copy of Apple Remote Desktop to be installed on your Mac.
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1568

Same thing here.
I have 3 macs.
2 iMacs and a MacBok Pro.
MacBook Pro and iMac 1 (the newer) works fine with the widget. But both can't see the iMac 2, only the exclamation mark

• Dashboard Widgets Partially Unresponsive

Hi guys,
My Dashboard widgets are partially unresponsive. For instance: I can enter text in the note widget but not click on the "i" button. ("i" buttons are unresponsive on all widgets)
If I were to click on the weather widget it would shrink to a bar normally, but now that doesn't happen. Can't select a different stock on stocks etc. All my widgets are fully functional, they have just lost the ability to interact. (Command+R still works though). All other aspects of my Dashboard are fine though, I don't know what's up!
Thank's in advance
-Grant

I have considered that, just have to find a time when I am not busy I have searched Google and nobody else seems to be having the same problem or know a fix for it. I'm starting to think that a fresh start is indeed my only option. Oh well, I'll give it a few more days...

• Dashboard Widgets Not Responding... :(

Hello There apple guys...
well like the tittle says, mi widgets from my dashboard are not refreshing nor responding... i've tried, deleting preferences files. (both)... repaired permissions from the boot disk and nothing seems to work. when i use "killAll Dock" command on terminal, they work for at least 5 seconds. then they got froze..

Hi all,
Just installed Leopard fresh on my late 2008 mbp and everything is just swell, apart from none of my dashboard widgets working
Why did you do that? Was there some problem?
The dashboard fires up OK but any widget I drag onto the screen doesn't work. e.g. the clock has no hands, calendar has no date etc .. When I close a widget it crashes the dashboard completely and I'm dumped back to the desktop.
Try creating a new user account and see if the problem occurs in that one.
When posting a crash log, you might want to remove any personal names, etc before making it public.
I don't see anything in your log, but it pays to be careful.
Your computer name in the crash log seems to have hyphens in it. It's best to have a computer name with no spaces, no special characters, etc., but that may not be the problem here, just a suggestion.
The crash seems to involve vImage and a graphic png or at least the libpng library but I don't see anything specific.
Someone else with better crashlog smarts will probably help you more.

• Dashboard widgets keep moving around!

I'm guessing it is related to this question: (still unanswered)
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2080780&tstart=0
But for some reason, my dashboard widgets like to shift around on my screen. I even moved them all into a gird into the upper left and corner of my screen so that it no matter what size screen I am using they will always be there. (as apposed to putting a widget in the bottom corner of my 1920 x 1200 monitor, unhooking it and then going back to the 1280 x 800 screen and finding the widget off screen.)
So is there any way to "LOCK" the positions or just stop the random shifting around?
Thanks,
Scott

I just meant open the Dashboard icons you want to use and put them where you want them.

• Dashboard widgets can't connect to internet

Recently, my dashboard widgets can't connect to the internet. I've tried restarting, clearing the preference files for the dashboard and turning littlesnitch off. Any other ideas? All widgets affected, not just 3rd party ones.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

• Dashboard widgets on Thunderbolt?

Is there a way to display Dashboard widgets on Thunderbolt Desktop?
I did find a solution to permanently move Dashboard widgets to Desktop, but this means that when I use my MacBookPro in stand-alone mode, the widgets take up too much space and I have to move them back to the Dashboard.
Ideally, I would like a solution to have widgets on Desktop when using Thunderbolt, but revert to default when in Macbook Pro standalone mode.
Is this possible? Is there a way to (say) divide the Thunderbolt screen?

You can pull a widget onto your desktop doing the following:
1) Open Dashboard.
2) Open the Dashboard shelf (+ sign).
3) Click and grab a widget from the shelf. Keep holding the mouse down.
4) Drag the widget onto the Dashboard but -- while keeping the mouse held down -- press the key to get rid of Dashboard (F12 typically).
5) When your desktop re-appears. Drop the widget.
Now, it should stay on your desktop.

• 8.81 B1iC error when enabling Dashboard Widget

Hi,
In the B1 client when enabling the Dashboards (Cockpit -> General Settings -> Enable Dashboard Widget) I get the following error in red at the bottom of the screen (and in the client message log):
Install SAP Business One Integration Service before enabling the dashboard widget Message ID = 1290000001
I have a clean install of 8.81 PL00 and the Integration Component, company database is a new a demo database (SBODemoAU).
The B1iC install created the correct SLD and I have tested the B1DI & JDBC connections and both report successful connections.
There is also a successful message in the Integration Framework message log for trigger object 1210000008 which I believe from the doco and previous versions that this is the Dashboard deployment to the Bizstore.
I have gone through the B1iC Troubleshooting guide as much as possible (it does not yet have the 8.81 updates) but nothing helps.
I understand the B1iServer address is now automatically created in 8.81 but how do I check the correct value and fix this problem.
I have spent a few days on this trying different things, sniffing the network, analyzing SQL calls, so any help would be appreciated.

I too am finding the same issues. Am on 8.81 PL7. (8.81.315). B1DI and JDBC test good. Cockpit at Company level enabled. Enable dashboard widget does not work. I receive "Ensure that SAP Business One Integration Service and SAP Business One Event Sender Service have been started; then wait 1 minute and try again" Both are running and have been for 24 hours.
