Lost digital signature Password!

I have lost (DUMB) my digita signature password. I am using Acrobat Pro 9 for Mac.
How do i either
1. locate the old password, or
2, create a new password, or
3, create a new digital signature with new password and delete original one?

If you don't know the password, there's nothing you can do to retrieve it or override it. If you're aksing about a self-signed digital ID that you created in Acrobat, you can create another just as you did your first one. To removed an existing one in Acrobat 9, select: Advanced > Security Settings > Digital IDs > Digital ID Files > [Select the digital ID you want to remove] > Remove ID (trashcan icon)

  • I forgot my digital signature password. How do I create a new one with the same email.

    I can not remember my digital signature password. I've attempted to create a new one with the same email address. The message I receive is that i already have a digital signature with that email. I would like to use the same email address.

    You probably mean that you forgot your digital certificate password and I presume that this is a self-signed certificate that you yourself created, not a certificate that you received from a Certificate Authority (CA). If this is true then you can create a new self-signed digital certificate (Digital ID in Acrobat-speak) the same way you created the first one: In Acrobat XI it is Edit->Preferences->Signatures->Identities&Trusted Certificates->More. Then click on "Add ID" button and follow the prompts. You can create as many self-signed certificates with the same credentials (name, email, etc.) as you wish. You'd have to figure out how to distinguish them, though.

  • Digital signature password

    I recently set up my digital signature but when I tried to use it my password was not recognized or did not match. How can I set up or reset the password?

    Hi,
    Just so I get the big picture, you used Acrobat or Reader to create a digital ID, saved the digital ID to a file, and now you are trying to use that digital ID to create a digital signature, but as part of the signature creation process when you type the password into the Sign Document dialog (in the Password field) you are getting the incorrect password alert dialog?
    Is that correct?
    Thanks,
    Steve

  • Digital signature - password declined

    I created a digital signature months ago and have used it successfully many times but now it asks for a password and I am told my password is incorrect despite using the correct password.

    If you forget the digital signature certificate's password you must make a new certificate for signing. There is no way to recover it or change it, for your protection (since if YOU could recover  it, so could someone trying to steal your identity).

    In context of your description, use of Acrobat Pro to "enable" PDFs for use by Adobe Reader appears to be contrary to the Acrobat EULA (if nothing else, the "500" limit for forms).
    If that's the case then I suspect your only option would be LiveCycle ES.
    Back down the Forum's timeline, someone mention $50K for a seat.
    But LC ES has many variations (modules if you will) so the price point may be higher.
    Basically, it is expensive (although worth the $$ to the IRS and other large entities).
    Worth noting are the posts in this forum that allude to Adobe's legal actions taken against those who have, it seems, violated the Acrobat EULA.
    If your client(s) are associated with a corporate entity they may be exposed to legal "road hazards"; but, that's speculative, eh?
    Regardless, it does sort of appear that you may be on thin ice vis-a-vis "enable" of PDFs for use by Adobe Reader.
    Be well...

  • Lost signature password, removed "id" from security settings, now cannot create new signature

    I lost my digital signature password.
    I deleted the id in security settings
    However, when trying to create a new digital id I do not get a choice to enter a new password.
    There is only one password box. So, Acrobat X is still asking for the original password.
    Any suggestions how I can start over and create a new digital signature.
    I have gone through "help" and this forum.
    Thanks to all who reply.

    SOLUTION
    I had to add
    <Resource name="jdbc/webappDB"
         auth="Container"
         type="javax.sql.DataSource"
            maxActive="100"
         maxIdle="30"
         maxWait="10000"
            username="root"
         password="password"
         driverClassName="com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"
            url="jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/webapp?autoReconnect=true"/>into /var/lib/tomcat6/conf/Catalina/localhost/ webapp.xml
    Note: the above context file was created automatically after deploying the webapp. I had to add the <resource> to it.
    The context I created in usr/share/tomcat_home/webapp/META_INF/context.xml is still there and has the same <resource>.defined in it. I did not verify whether or not it still needs to be there.
    After that I had to add two policies
    /var/lib/tomcat6/conf/policy.d/03catalina.policy
    grant {
    permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "accessClassInPackage.org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.*";
    and 04webapps.policy
    permission java.net.SocketPermission "127.0.0.1:3306", "connect,resolve,listen,accept";
    That did the trick!
    Other things that were done but have not been verified as to have any bearing on this issue.
    I changed the active java from openjdk to java-sun
    I added $tomcat_home/lib:$tomcat_home/lib/mysql-connector.jar:$tomcat_home/lib/commons-dbcp.jar to PATH
    Changed CLASSPATH=usr/share/classpath:usr/share/java/commons-dbcp.jar:usr/share/java/mysql-connector.jar

  • Forgot my signature password

    I need to sign a document once per year.  This year I can't remember my password to place my signature.  I've tried everything I can remember, it just keeps telling me "incorrect password". I went to the Adobe.com website and changed my account signature, but that doesn't work for signing documents.  Help, please.

  • Use of active directory userid/password authentication instead of SAP R/3 User/Password for digital signature?

    Dear all,
    I am looking to setup the use of active directory userid/password authentication instead of SAP R/3 User/Password for digital signature. We SSO to the backened ABAP AS via an SAP NW Portal to which SPNEgo kerberos authentication is setup. Today we specify R3 user id/password to digitally approvae a lot release. The idea is to have users maintain one AD password and don't have to remember the R/3 password anymore and also our Security team to avoid password maintenance.
    I know there are 3 options for digital signature and
    System signature with authorization by user ID and password (We use this currently)
    Digital User signature with verification - (We would like to use this with AD userid/password, so the system still ask the users their AD userid/password for the authentication when they try to "sign" a document.)
    User signature without verification
    Do you think there is a way to configure the system in order to ask and check the active directory userid/password instead of SAP R/3 password? Where can I found documentation about it ?
    I have several different versions of AS ABAP starting from NW 7.02 to NW 7.31.
    My active directory is based on Windows 2008.
    Thanks in advance!!
    Dhee

    Actually enabling Kerberos for SSO purposes and enabling Kerberos for digital signatures are two different topics although the latter is because of the former. I'm interested in the topic as well and I'm currently looking at different options. SAP provides a BAdI for the digital signature API which can be used for external authentication but they do not provide the solution to invoke Kerberos authentication based on username and password. SAP provides a semi solution with NWSSO 2.0 SP2 which works only on Windows with classic dynpros meaning SAP GUI for Windows is assumed. The solution is based on an ActiveX component which does the actual Kerberos authentication using the Secure Login Client which is part of the NWSSO suite. Extending that implementation to non-Windows and non-GUI applications would require some sort of web enabled service that could be used to authenticate the user with username and password. In case authentication is successful, a Kerberos token would be returned to SAP which would then be validated. All the required pieces are there since SAP has Kerberos support now in both stacks of the NetWeaver Application Server, some bits are still missing though which leaves customers looking at 3rd party or custom solutions.

  • Problem creating PKCS# 12 Digital Signature in Adobe Reader X - where do I confirm the Password?

    I cannot create a PKCS# 12 Digital Signature in Adobe Reader X. It says the passwords don't match when I create it. The problem is, I never was asked to confirm the P/W when I created it. It asked once for the P/W and then the only thing I can do is click "Finish" and then it says my P/W don't match. I am able to create a DS on my other computer using Reader 9 (and it did ask me to confirm the P/W when creating). I have re-booted my computer and still it will not work.

    You'll need to ask in the Acrobat Pro forum. There are people there with expertise who can answer this. I use Acrobat myself, but I'm a novice when it comes to signature settings.

  • Digital Signatures getting lost when page presence set to hidden

    HI All,
    My project uses a multi page PDF which has signature fields in different pages. Because of performance issues i am showing only one page at a time and using navigation buttons to browse through pages. So when the PDF loads it displays Page1 and i sign the Digital Signature field and Click the next button which has event like
    Page2.presence="visible";
    Page1.presensce ="hidden";
    Now page2 is visible and if i move back to the Page1, the digital signatures are lost.
    But if i dont click the button , and save the PDF, the signature field is retained.
    I am not sure how can i retain the signature in this scenario
    Any help on this greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    What viewer are you using for showing the PDF?

  • I can't "confirm" my password when creating a new digital signature

    When I goto create a new digital signature, it cuts off the bottom 2 fields that should be there.
    When I create it from another workstation I see the fields I'm missing.  One important field is the "confirm" field for password creation.  Without it, hitting the "finish" button just tells me that my password doesn't match?
    Why is this hapenning?
    Thanks

    I would like an answer to this as well.  I created a form to use at our University and a few people are not seeing the password confirmation box so they cannot create a dig signature.

  • Retrieving passwords or deleting digital signatures

    Haven't used the function in a very long time and I can't remember the password for my digital signature, is there a way to retreive the p/w or just delete it all together to create a new one?

    You can remove digital IDs and create a new one any time. For help removing it, see: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Acrobat/9.0/Standard/WS58a04a822e3e50102bd615109794195ff-7d8e. w.html

  • 2nd password on digital signature file

    I am deploying Acrobat Standard 9 in a regulated environment (21 CFR Part 11) and need to have the digital signature file require a second password.  While I know this is possible it does not seem to be a feature activated upon a default install.  How do I turn on this feature?

    Hi Madam Curie,
    Part of the problem is the phraseology is incorrect so I'll start with some basic so we are all speaking the same language.
    One thing to realize is you can digitally sign any piece of electronic data just like you can use you pen to sign any physical object such as a piece of paper, some one's cast, a wall, or you photo for your fans. In the electronic world you can sign your e-mail, your Word document, or as far as I'm concerned (realizing that I'm biased ) the most important thin, a PDF file.
    A digital ID in the electronic world is analogous to a pen in the physical world. It is what you use to create a digital signature. A digital ID is comprised of three pieces; a public key, a corresponding private key, and a block of text with some identifying information. When the digital IS is initially created the public-key is signed with a private key. If the public key is signed with it's corresponding private key the digital ID is know as a "self-signed" digital ID. If it is signed by a different private key, the owner of that key becomes the issuer of the digital ID that it signs.
    A digital signature in the  electronic world is analogous to a wet ink signature. You use a digital ID to create a digital signature.
    The next thing to realize is a digital signature is cryptographic blob of data and is not something one would normally see. If you are geeky enough you can decode one and view it in a special purpose viewer, but for the most part nobody ever sees the signature contents.
    When you do sign a PDF file you can either create a visible signature or an invisible signature. In the case of the later, all you do is write the digitally signed blob of data into the PDF file and don't bother creating any visual representation. It's the visual signature that throws most people for a loop, but the key thing to understand is the visual appearance you see in the signature field (which is nothing more than a special purpose text field) is NOT the signature, it is just a representation of the actual signature which you never see.
    The visual appearance is comprised of three things, a background (which by default is the PDF trefoil logo) and a foreground that is divided into two halves, text and a graphic.
    Acrobat (and when I say Acrobat I really mean both Acrobat and Reader) will let you create a digital signature with any digital ID that you have that is within it validity period, and includes digital signature as a key usage. The digital ID can be saved in several locations that Acrobat has access to. One is file on disk. The file would have the .p12 or .pfx file extension and you would have to add the file to Acrobat using the Security Setting dialog. Another place the digital ID can reside is the Windows Certificate Store of the Mac Keychain. If you've installed the digital ID into one of the OS based storage locations Acrobat will find it without you having to do anything else. Digital IDs can also reside on hardware devices such as a token (they look like a flash drive) or a smart card (they look like a credit card with a gold chip).
    So, if you have a digital ID, but Acrobat doesn't know about it need to search you computer for a *.p12 or *.pfx, find out where the file is, than use the Add ID function in the Security Settings dialog to attache the file.
    Finally, after you find and attache the file you can modify the Password Timeout to require that a password is always required. Or, if you want to import the file into the Windows Certificate Store you can use the High Assurance option to require a password otherwise Windows will just assume that if you can log in to your desktop then that's good enough.
