I am aware I need to download the trial versions of CS5 but once I do so will I be able to use my serial number from the product I purchased to activate? Does it matter that they have already been used for my initial activation? Or do I need to deactivate my software before reinstalling?
Also, I want to reinstall onto Mavericks OS X at some point. Will this be possible with CS5?

Your serial number from your CS5 purchase will work for turning a trial version into a fully activated version.
You are allowed to have the software activated on two machines, the restriction being that it can only be used on one of the machines at any time. If you do not plan to use the software on the initial machine then it is better to deactivate it so that you have the an available activation should you need it.

I've installed Lion over Snow Leopard and all my non Apple software is still here - you may want to check if your software will work with Lion and I would definately recommend having a bootable backup in case anything goes wrong

Lost pages need to reinstall

Not sure how it happened but I have lost my Pages application. I need to re-install but I do not have
my install CD any longer. I do have the original document with the activation key for iWorks 09.
Where can I download outside of the app store so that I don't have to pay for it again?

OK, thanks. In looking at the receipt this was indeed a download so now I need to find out how to re-download the iworks application. I looked back on my back up drive but the complete download app is not there, probably too old.
I could not find anywhere in Apple to dowload iworks 09.
I suppose I will just have to buy it again.

Lost Disc -- Need Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional -- Downloadable?

Greetings All,
I have a registered copy of Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional and somehow I managed to muck things up when I was transferring my programs to my new MacBook Pro. Now, it doesn't work: complaining of missing components (plugins). I haven't been able to find another downloadable copy of this on the Adobe site.
Anyone know of a solution???

If it's a registered copy, you could try Adobe customer support. Other than that, I don't believe that there is any place on the Adobe site where you can download an older version.

When I attempt to import a photo, what gets imported is miscellaneouw trash. I have deleted my database thinking that it might have too much in it, but that did not solve the problem. I could, as I have done before, delete 3.1.2, reinstall 2, then upgrade to 3 again and then update to 3.1.2. Is there a more straightforward way?

Install version 2 and the apply the updates to that. Then Press and hold the Option and Command keys as you start Aperture and select Repair Database. Then install version 3 and update it. Then convert your library to v 3.
This makes sure that he v2 Library is in good order before you start upgrading it.

My Macbook is about a year old, and I've moved since then. I can't find the box and I'm having a LOT of trouble with Mail. first one account wouldn't download, now i can't send through any accounts. I need to reinstall the program, but i don't have my original disc.

After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 5 things it does are...
Correct any Disk problems.
Repair Permissions.
Clear out Cache Files.
Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.

You've lost me on why you need to reinstall Tiger, when you already have all the files you wanted (which means Tiger worked perfectly fine). If you want to upgrade to Leopard, that's a different issue: your Mac needs to meet the minimum system requirements for that, which you can easily determine.
If you just want to get a replacement set of Tiger install discs, you can try calling AppleCare and see if they're able to send you a replacement set, and if not, you'll have to buy a new set yourself. You can get them on eBay, Craigslist, and HardCore Mac (http://store.yahoo.com/hardcoremac/), although they sell it for ridiculous prices.

This should only occur if this is a NEW computer or your first sync and you have information from another computer.

Now, do not worry, even if you do accidentally delete your apps, you can download them again for free with your itunes store account, just keep in mind you will lose any saved data!
Follow this and hit continue, the only information that could get lost is any content (music, videos etc) synced from ANOTHER computer that WAS NOT brought from your account.

Prepare Your Mac for Sale
Boot from the OS X Installer Disc One that came with the computer. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select the startup volume from the left side list then click on the Erase tab. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) then click on the Options button. Select the one pass Zero Data option and click on the OK button. Then click on the Erase button.
Note: You can skip the Zero Data option if you are not concerned about removing sensitive personal data from the hard drive. If you choose to skip this part of the process then it is possible for others to recover data from the hard drive. The Zero Data procedure will prevent others from getting access to your personal information.
This process will take 30 minutes to several hours depending upon the size of the hard drive. After formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Now complete the OS X installation. At the completion of the installation do not restart the computer. Instead just shut it off. The next user will be presented with the Setup Assistant when they turn on the computer just as it would if new out of the box.
