  • Completely Lost - Resolution for Printing

I am very amateurish when it comes to computer software, and Illustrator is flying right over my head.
The problem: I need to print 4 poster boards at 40x30 inches each. I understand that 300 dpi is the recommended quality for printing, but I'm not sure how to set that. How many pixels does this translate to? What do I need to do in order for me to get the best quality printing at 40x30 inches?
Again, I'm a noob, so I don't really understand this stuff. Can't I just format my files in another program, like Paint.net, safe it as a pdf, and print like that?

Sounds like you're in large format land.  A 40" x 30" file is a bit too large for sheet fed press.  Although there are presses that can handle that size, I still think you're looking at inkjet printing.  This is where your file prep will become an issue, mainly because inkjet vs. offset are two different worlds.  If you're just starting out and are in a crunch, then perhaps you should use a program you are familiar with and save out as a PDF.  However, 300ppi is typical resolution for offset printing at 100% and 150ppi is typical resolution for inkjet at 100%.  These are not document resolutions ( DPi ), but rather are image resolutions for Photoshop type bitmap files ( PPi ).
Either way, there's no reason to get bogged down with pixel dimensions.  Technically speaking, Postscript data is set for 72 pixels per inch, so your pixel dimensions would be 2880 x  2160 pixels.  This really does not have anything to do with document resolution and/or image resolution, it is primarily a Preview architecture.  If you plan for inkjet, large format printing, make your document / raster resolution 600 DPi ( you could get away with 300 DPi ).  For offset you can easily double that ( min. 1200 DPi ).  Once you get the Math down, file prep will come easier to you.  I usually assign document resolution first before even naming the file and starting work on it.  Best to talk to your print vendor to see what they recommend.  Perhaps the PDF out of Paint.net will be acceptable.

  • Lost disk for Acrobat 8, have upgrade serial number, but not original media or older version serial number

I'm changing computers, and am trying to install Acrobat 8 Standard onto the new one. I have the files for the upgrade, and the serial number, but it asks for the original media or serial number for the version upgraded from, and we don't have that - we've lost the disks and the serial number.
The dialog box which pops up during installation says "Enter the response code provided by Adobe Customer Service for the number: XXXXXX" (There's an actual number, but that should be saved for a private discussion.)
Every attempt to contact Adobe runs into a brick wall. How do I recover the serial number for a purchase made 4 years (or more) ago?

    Hi Municon,
Kindly refer the below mentioned documents.

  • Printer for printing directly onto dvd's

Can anyone provide recommendations on a printer that will print directly onto dvd's and is compatible with the macbook pro? Best Buy recommended a cannon for $100 and he said it is wireless and compatible. Thoughts?

To be a little clearer, your printer may accept the disk for printing, but the page size will still be a paper size, rather than something that says "DVD" or "CD". The documentation for your printer should tell you what the settings should be, and how to adjust the placement of the image so it is centered on the disk.

I have lost my installation disk for my mac book pro running Snow Leopard 10.6." Where can I replace it?"

You can get replacement System Install & Restore CD/DVDs from Apple's Customer Support - in the US, (800) 767-2775 - for a nominal S&H fee. You'll need to have the model and/or serial number of your Mac available.

  • I had ordered a photo book print two years back. I want to reorder the same book again now. However, I have lost the album project in iphoto. Is there any way to see my print order history and reorder the same book for print ?

I had ordered a photo book print two years back. I want to reorder the same book again now. However, I have lost the album project/photos from iphoto.
Is there any way to see my print order history and reorder the same book for print ?

No.  Apple only keeps the pdf file for a book for 30 days.  Without the library and book project you won't be able to reorder the same book.
Even though the horse is out of the barn the following tutorial might be of help for future books, i.e. create a new library for each book): iP08 - Archiving an iPhoto Book for Editing and/or Ordering at a Later Date

  • I lost my disk for cs5 creative suite 5.5 design premium but I have product code and a new computer I want to reinstall. What can I do?

I lost my disk for cs5 creative suite 5.5 design premium but I have product code and a new computer I want to reinstall. What can I do?

You can download the software from the website and then type in your old serial number to activate it... that is, IF the installer database will work with your operating system. I am having problems reinstalling CS4 with a new computer running on Win 8.1. When I called customer support, they told me a whole lot of nothing for 45 minutes and then directed me to a chat session. After about 30 minutes on chat, I was basically told they don't offer support for older products. The website says "no known issues" for installation... but that very well may be because they are unwilling to record the issues when someone calls to report them! Good luck with your install. I wish I had CS5 at this point, as it appears there is still support available for it... but you are on the bubble timewise for that to continue. Other downloads

  • I have just upgraded to Snow Leopard and have lost my epson printer software. On Epson Aus. web page there is no upgrade of their software for my printer with Snow Leopard. Can i download a lesser operating system software for printer?

I have just upgraded to snow leopard and lost my epson printer software. I have checked Epson Aus web site for printer software but they haven't upgraded it for snow leopard. Am i able to download software for a lesser operating system then snow leopard or do i have to purchase a new printer? The model is stylus photo R310.

Have you tried the R300 or R320 software? Typically the software covers a broad spectrum of printers, often providinbg overlap to cover "relatives" of a series.

  • Adobe CS3 Design Standard for Mac - lost disks

    Hi!
Situation: I'm buying a new mac, and do not want to use Migration Assistant to transfer my software (mainly as I'd like to do a clean install and not migrate a load of junk that may be on my older mac).
I have lost my cs3 install disks. I'm a registered and licensed cs3 design standard user.
I've looked at the forums and contacted Adobe.
No replacement disks can be sent for legacy software, so Adobe cannot help.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I dud see one post where a forum member offered assistance, but what the assistance/solution was I'm not sure as the discussion was closed/taken offsite.
Someone had suggested downloading cs3 from a torrent site, but I'm not at all keen on doing that.
Any suggestions or advice much appreciated, and yes, I'll take better care of my install disks in the future :o))).
(In my defence, lame as it is, when I bought cs3, I did see they offered replacement disks for a fee. I didn't realise this was only for current software).
    Regards,
    Venkat

CS3 is too old to run on a new Macintosh laptop, sorry. You'll have to purchase CS6 or a Creative Cloud subscription.

  • I have lost my serial number and disk for lightroom 3

I have lost my serial number and disk for lightroom 3 and I need it - I have since upgraded to v5 but have gotten a new laptop and want to install lightroom on there.  I have my order number from 2011 for v3 AD003916979.  How can I get my old serial number?

On you other machine with Lr5 installed or Lr3 installed search for a file on you computer called "Lightroom 3.0 Registration" or "Lightroom 5.0 Registration".  You may have to search for hidden/system files.   These files contain your Serial Numbers in plain text.
Otherwise, if your order number is from Adobe you can log in with your account to see your purchased products or contact Adobe with that order number.

  • I lost my OS disks for MBP 4,1

Hi, I lost my OS disks for our MBP 4,1. I keep reading that you should call and get replacement disks for a fee, but other than that, will buying a Snow Leopard DVD work? I just want to erase and reinstall a fresh copy of the OS coz right now the HD is already full of trash... Thanks.

As sig says. In addition, the original discs may have bundled software that won't be on the retail disc, plus perhaps software for testing computer hadrware components (I have an older computer so I am going by that).
You say the hard drive is full of trash and you want to re-install the system because of that.  I am not sure that is necessarily the approach to take.  I haven't re-installed the system on my computer since 2005 so unless you are taking the clear-cut approach and wiping the drive and starting afresh, I think there are better ways.
