Lost Display to Panasonic TV

I have just lost the display to my 38" Panasonic TV using the DVI - SVideo cable/adaptor. I can still view the MAC when connected to a monitor though! Any ideas how I can get the display back on my TV? Also can I connect using DVI-to component?
Thanks

I am having almost the exact same problem. I am using the DVI to svideo converter purchased from the apple store at my local mall. The converter works on my two mac latpops, but I cannot get it to work with my mac mini g4 at all. I am wanting to roll out a bunch of these boxes with displays at a conference coming up, but I need to get this working in the lab first.
The TV's are tube Sony Wega XBR's, and i say the mac book pro seems to work just fine, just not the mini. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Note: If I boot up I get no display at all, however the screen flickers for a second after it gets to the OS desktop. If I disco the DVI and put it into my apple display (or even a dell 24") it comes up fine. Is there perhaps a x11 setting somewhere that I need to set. I have tried changing the display settings saving and rebooting normally, but that doesn't seem to help either. THANKS!!

  • Lost display on Mega 180

    Hi All
I have lost the front display on my mega 180.  No warning just dead!  I have tried the posts on the site and MSI now tell me that despite spending lots of money with them they "no longer support this item"   Great for PR!!! (NOT)
    CAN ANYONE HELP???

All manufacturers have a limited lifetime of manufacture and support for their products. None more so than the ever faster advancing IT industry. There comes a time when the product is EOL and not supported anymore. Have a look at Intel's chipsets and processors, you will see it all over. Unfortunately this is all part of the lifecycle of a product.
Your best bet is to look at sites like e-bay and see if someone has got something on offer.

  • MacBook Pro 10.5.8 no longer displaying on panasonic tv

I hooked up my MacBook Pro to our Panasonic HDTV with a HDMI cable recommended by a staff person in the Apple store, and it worked fine for several months. We watched a lot of Netflix, no problem.
Then recently, the laptop stopped displaying on the TV. We unplugged and replugged the cables, restarted the computer, tried different "input" settings on the TV, tried different display settings on the laptop (current setting: 1440x900, millions)... no luck.
When I try to display the laptop on the TV, the laptop screen briefly goes blue, like it's trying to respond, but then it never actually seems to connect to the TV. The regular screen comes back onto the laptop, but the TV screen stays black.
We miss being able to play Netflix on the TV...thoughts?
    Katie

Hmmm, can you get to System Preferences>Displays & try a different resolution?
Is anything showing on the Laptops screen?

  • Lost display text

PowerBook G4 Titanium, running OS 10.3.9
I have lost most of the display text: file/folder labels, descriptions, etc. The computer boots and displays background image, file/folder icons, some text in the top bar but not all), a few characters for some of the items on my desktop.
I ran Disk Utility, DiskWarrior, reset the PRAM, checked that the zoom is not on (by the way, this is the only window that seems to display all of the text), deleted the com.apple.finder.plist file (at least I think I did, hard to tell when there is no label...).
I can log on (password is accepted although nothing shows up when I type), but cannot shut down the computer except by pushing the button in the back. Otherwise, it just goes back to the login window.
    Suggestions?

I bet that may be causing the problem. You may not have enough available disk space. You need to backup as much data as possible, and make more available ASAP!
Do you have access to another Firewire enabled Mac, to use Firewire Target Disk Mode, to try to retrieve your data?

  • Lost display brightness - security update 7.0.6

2/24/2014 Just updated iPhone 5 with latest security update and display lost full brightness after update. Difficult to see and read screen in bright daylight. Contacted Tech support, checked for auto brightness control, yes functions, but phone lost full brightness after update.
Glitch occurred on 3 different iPhone 5s. Any suggestions as restoring to old opsys, not possible?

Sorry the question, does Apple have a fix for solving the issue of "loss of display brightness", due to update?
Not restoring old op system. Problem occurred on 3 phones. Any helpful solutions would be appreciated.

  • Installed 10.8.1 and lost display on my MBP

I upgraded to 10.8.1 on my mid-2010 i5 MBP and once I logged in following the reboot, my display went black except for one line at the top. Resetting the PRAM seemed to be the only thing that got it back. Reboots alone did not help. I may back out 10.8.1 since it happened again later and, again, resetting PRAM seemed to get it back. It's been running fine for the last hour now. Not sure what may trigger it again. Anyone else see this?

If you backed up your phone before the update you can use itunes to restore from backup and should revert back to how everything was before see here

  • Air does not display on Panasonic VIera with VGS and mini adaptor

I have the mini vga adaptor and my air works on our Dell monitor, however when plugging it into our TV - Panasonic Viera around 4 years old LCD, nothing happens - ie you select PC and the screen is black. Our old powerbook used to work.
Do I need to hit a button or set something up?

If you mean the mirror icon it is because you need OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion so you will need to purchase it from the app store.  There is also a third party app called airparrot, www.airparrot.com.

  • New Mac Pro/Yosemite lost display resolutions that were in Mavericks

After a 9 hour migration process from my old Mac Pro, late 2007 2.8Ghz Dual Quad core, to a new Mac Pro 3.5Ghz 6-Core, I have had issues with the display resolution I used on my old Mac Pro. They don't show up in the list of available resolutions, and now everything on my Dell 30" display is HUGE! How can I get the resolution settings back to where the old Mac Pro was?

In the System Preferences "Display" pane - do you have "Best for display" or "Scaled" selected for the problematic 30" Dell display. Based on your comments I'm guessing it's the "Scaled" option which should show you the list of all resolutions that it knows your graphics board can do. So what graphics board do you have in the new and old Mac Pro? It's listed in the "System Information" app (click on the Apple in the menu bar at the top of the screen, then hold down the Option key and then click on "System Information". The graphics board is listed in the "Graphics/Displays" option about half way down the list of Hardware items on the left of the page. Did you migrate the old graphics board in the older Mac Pro over to the new one or does the new Mac Pro have it's own? What exactly is the list of resolutions that are shown for your new Mac Pro with the Dell 30"?
Also I'm a little confused - on which system is the Dell 30" on now - the old Mac Pro or the new one? Which resolution setting did the Dell on the old Mac Pro used to be set at and what is it now on the new Mac Pro?

  • Lightroom 2.1 lost display of folders

I was exploring synchronizing folders between Lightroom2 and finder Mac 10.5.6. All folders disappeared, and F7 would not reveal the folders. What next?
    JMM

John, After posting my question, I realized that the left panel in Lightroom is not missing-- F7 works to hide/display the Panel, not not including the Folders File. So, looking in the the computer's Finder, I see listings by name of all of the Lightroom photo folders and individual images. At the top of the Lightroom hierarchy is "Lightroom", and nested under Lightroom are Backups, Download backups, and Lightroom settings. Next, BUT at the same hierarchical level as Lightroom is "My Lightroom Photos," with all photos nested under that. (Scott Kelby's new manual recommended that I put all my photos in a folder called My Lightroom Photos rather than "Lightroom". So, folder by folder I moved them from "Lightroom" to "My Lightroom Photos", correcting names, etc as I went. I probably made a mistake somewhere, and I wonder if the new file should have been placed UNDER Lightroom's name and/or if its catalog name is screwed up. Here's why: When opening Lightroom, I briefly see the name, "Lightroom 2.app alias," but when opened, the name at the top of the grid in Library says, Lightroom2 catalog.Ircat - Adobe Photoshop Lightroom - Library." The good news is that I found that from Library I can display all photos in a grid, one by one, or by going first to Finder, as a folder. I can also edit and print individual photos. So, I'm only missing my Folder index: you're right that nothing is missing - except the connection to folder naming.

  • Remoed Hard Drive and Lost Display

My daughter's black Macbook did the flashing question mark folder thing yesterday and the HD started making little clicking noises. No HD showed when using the Disk Utility on the Install DVD.
I read about a guy who made things right by removing and reinstalling the HD, so I tried the same thing. Now the display stays black all the time.
This is one of the original overheating MacBooks and was repaired by the store in Asuncion, Paraguay last year. Now this. Daughter distraught, wants a Windows machine. And I already went through the bad HD and logic board on an iBook. Fool me once...
    <edited by host>

It sounds like your hard drive is faulty. Clicking noises from the hard drive usually mean bad things. When you removed the drive you either reinserted the drive incorrectly (upside down or not fully seated) or the drive finally died. I would suggest rechecking your work to see if you can get the machine to at least begin to boot. If the hard drive is seated correctly (check the RAM as well) and it still does not boot I would suggest removing the battery and power adapter and pressing the power button for 30 seconds. If still nothing then I would try a different hard drive or bring it to an Apple Store or certified repair shop to have them take a quick look at it.
FYI, Apple uses standard hard drives that every manufacturer uses. If you did have another hard drive failure I would look at why the drives are failing. Living in Paraguay can be a large contributor to the failures. The heat and moisture in that part of the world can wreak havoc on computer parts. You might also look at how your daughter treats the machine. Moving or dropping the notebook while powered up will eventually cause a drive to fail.

  • Lost Display Never Timeout When Plugged In

I have a Droid X, using 2.3.  When I was at 2.1 (out of the box), there was an option for the display to never timeout when plugged in.  I have the dock that I keep on my desk, and it was a convenient to never timeout when plugged in, and revert back to my normal timeout setting when unplugged.
Did the option go away, or am I just not looking in the right location in settings?
    Thanks,
    knjsax

    breezex,
You are the best!  Thanks.  That is my one complaint, there are so many options and settings, I can't keep them all straight.
    Thanks again,

  • Lost display resolution options when installing 10.4.6 with 20" monitor

I recently installed an upgrade using black retail DVD 10.4.6 from 10.2.8, and now i only have one option for display resolution (256 colors). The screen is gray??? I can restart using 9.2 Classic and the screen display is just fine (thousands & millions of colors). I did the disk utility and permission fix prior to and before installation. I also updated the firmware. I tried to download 10.4.8 combo update, but the license agreement can't be 'agreed to' because the button will not appear on the low resolution screen. Do i have to initialize the whole disk? The Monitor is a 20" Display (the large blue monster). Since it was working with 10.2.8 and still works under 9.2 Classic reboot, i doubt whether its a hardware problem.. Any ideas?

I wonder if it could be the Voodoo5 Dfx video card that's bn not compatible with 10.4.8?? It workds with 10.2.

  • Closing Macbook Cover shuts off DVI to VGA display output

I was told at the Apple Store that I could close the cover on my Macbook with the mini-DVI output to my large screen monitor and still operate my computer via wireless keyboard and the mighty mouse. When I close the Macbook cover the monitor (via the DVI to VGA) goes black and indicates it has lost display signal. How do I close the cover of my Macbook and use the DVI monitor???

  • Black out display BACK ON

Hey everyone, my wife's iBook has had the lost display for two weeks now. My wife described the screen as looking like it shorted out and has been black ever since. We were stressed out because my iBook's harddrive is full, and we were moving all of our pictures and music to her iBook when this happened. I figured it was the dreaded logic board/display thing, so I was looking at the MB and MBP (I'm going to get one anyway soon). I thought I'd search the forums a little more in case there was anything I could do, and was just ready to reset the PMU (or at least I was trying to figure out how to) because the computer also hasn't been sleeping correctly since the display went out so I thought maybe it was something else.
I was going to link the computers via the ethernet to save as much music and pictures on flash drives as possible. We had been able to do this for the last two weeks, but today, my computer wouldn't network with hers, so I did a hard reset once (had also tried this before and even though computer restarted, screen stayed black), and the hard drive sounded like it was skipping (didn't sound like it normally does when going through restarting process). So I did another hard reset during this noise, and the computer rebooted again with the chime and THE SCREEN CAME BACK ON!! WEIRD!!! Has anything like this happened to any of you????

It sounds like you may be having logic board problems. You may know that enough dual USB G3 iBooks suffered from this problem that Apple began the iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program in January of 2004. Check out the FAQ page and if the symptoms look familiar, give Apple a call. If your iBook qualifies, it's a free fix. (It's not unusual for an iBook suffering from this specific logic board problem to restart normally after a period of rest.)
If you are past the three-year time limit, try calling and asking for Customer Relations (NOT Customer Service--they can't help you) and ask them to please make an exception to the three-year limit in your case.
In order to back up files, you may want to try using FireWire Target Disk Mode to back up her files if your other computer is a Mac with FireWire capability.
    Good luck!
