Lost Edits when moving pictures

Hi there,
I made the mistake of moving the pictures to another folder (using Windows Explorer) after I had done some editing.
I've noticed that after I moved them, I lost every edit I had made. Is there any way of recovering those edits?
thanks!

sorry for the incomplete message before. So after I moved the pictures in Windows Explorer, in Lightroom they appeared with question marks. So I clicked on the folder and chose syncronize pictures. After that, it found where they were in the new location, but they were back to the way they were when I first imported them to Lightroom. There's no icon on their thumbanails showing that they were edited, and there's nothiing in their history panel.
I hope i was more clear this time and you might be able to help me better.
Thank you so much!

  • Lost emails when moving between mailboxes

    Hello all
I encountered a huge problem today when sorting out some of my mail.
I'm currently running Mavericks and have several accounts set up on the Mail application - these include an Exchange account, and a Gmail (Google IMAP) account.
My Exchange account is expected to expire soon, and so I decided to drag-and-drop mail items from the Exchange mailbox to the Gmail mailbox. This appears to have worked flawlessly for all Sent items from the Exchange account - all sent items have been moved and I can now find the items on the Gmail web interface as well as through the Mail application, and as a result, the Sent items folder is empty on the Exchange account.
I repeated the process for all Inbox items, but it seems to have failed drastically! I cannot seem to locate the inbox items from neither the Gmail web interface nor the Mail application, and worse yet, the Inbox items folder is now empty on the Exchange account. I logged in to the Outlook web interface to see if perhaps the Exchange Inbox items would still be there, and oddly enough there are 13 messages there (the inbox previously contained hundreds of Inbox items) - so there is also some disconcordance between Exchange on the Mail application and on the Outlook web interface.
I'm quite confused as to how the drag-and-drop process appears to have worked well for the Sent items from Exchange to Gmail, but so poorly for the Inbox items. I'm not too happy with the fact that I seem to have lost nearly all of my Inbox items. I have checked the Mail 'Activity' window in the hope that maybe some sort of process was stuck - thus explaining this error, but there's currently no activity.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I would really appreciate anyone's help in resolving this matter/finding the mail items that appear to have gone missing.

    Dear Eric,
Apologies for the very late reply - I just thought I'd provide an update on my experiences.
From what I recall, neither rebuilding nor reindexing my mailboxes helped to recover the emails that were lost after dragging-and-dropping from the Exchange mailbox to the Gmail mailbox. However, after reading your reply to WilliamCWL, I explored the 'V2' folder from a Time Machine backup (one that was made not too long before I posted this thread) and found the Exchange mailbox. From there, I located and gathered the Exchange Inbox 'emlx' mail files, which I then converted to 'mbox' format, using a tool that I found online. I then imported the 'mbox' format file into Mail, and from Mail I was able to drag-and-drop the Exchange Inbox emails to the Gmail Mailbox!
Many thanks for your assistance in this matter Eric, it's much appreciated.
@ WilliamCWL - I hope that you were able to resolve your problem.

  • When moving picture it copies itself

    Hi,
first of all I'm very new to Adobe Flash Pro CS 5 so just getting started with using the program...
Unfortunately I've encountered a big problem:
In Action Script 3.0 : When I import a picture (JPEG-Format) to the stage and move it around to align it with the stage or just put it the way I want to, it always copies itself - each time. So if I move the picture from position A to position B, finally I've got the picture twice: One in pos. A (the old one, in the background) and the same picture now on pos. B, where I wanted it to be (foregound). That happens each time I move the picture in any way ending up in having a lot of pictures on the screen which I'd need to delete one by one - not a good base to work! Now my question: do you have an idea what the reason or my fault is and how I can prevent it from happening? When the problem occurs I use the selection tool (Shortcut V) and didn't make any perferences - just the way it is when I start a new project.
I absolutely have got no idea and really hope that you can help me!
    Thanks for your time.
PS: If needed I can also record a video for showing my problem or do a screenshot...

Change the screen redraw to immediate or hold the mouse down for a second before moving the object.

  • Adobe Photoshop Touch: Disable snapping in when moving pictures and text

    Hallo,
I really have to disable that snap in when I move imported pictures or text in a file in Adobe Photoshop Touch but. I didn't find a feature yet to disable it.
    Can you help me please?
    Thank you.

For either importing images or adding text, there's a magnet icon with a checkmark in the options box; tap it to disable snapping.

  • Keep edits when moving photos

It might be a strang sounding title but this is my question:
I once had to back-up all of my files to my external hard drive. After rebooting my computer I had to import all pictures in Lightroom again.
What I want to know is that if there's a possibility to save the corrections etc. I've made to a picture, then for example make a back-up and import the picture again on for example another computer with lightroom, and still be able to continue editing the picture, but still be able to recover the original one...
I hope you'll understand my... "explanation"
    Thanks guys!

This isn't making sense to me. If you made a backup, then your originals are still in the same location, right? No need to import all your photos, Lightroom should know where they are (same location as before).
    Hi dj_paige
I should have been more clear about the subject. What I meant is that I had to make this backup before I had to reïnstall/reboot my computer.
    Thanks for the solution!

  • Making book with aperture..when moving pictures from book, where do they go? I wanted to move a picture to another page

I am making a book using Aperture.  During the production process, when I want to replace a picture, or move it to another location in the book, as I click and move it out of the book, it "disappears". (In I Photo 11 it returned to my list of available pictures).
Where are these pictures?  How can I retrieve them?

    Hello,
how do you "click and move the image out of the book"?
If I have added an image to a book page and want it removed and maybe added to a different page, then I ctrl-click the image on the book page and select "cut content", delete  or "copy content" (or I select it and press the delete key). Then the image will reappear in the film strip below the book pages and I can drag it to a different page (or I can paste it directy onto a different page if I selectes "copy..".
If I on the other hand deleted an image from the film strip below the book, then the image will be gone from the book completely. How is this different for you?

  • Lost messages when moving from smart mailbox to gmail mailbox located on my mac

I tried to move all my messages from a smart mailbox to my gmail account mailbox in mail and now all of the messages are lost.  My mailbox says I have more messages than I can see.  Can't find in other mailboxes or in trash.  HELP!

Thank you Alberto for your quick reply and suggestion.
I am looking though for something that will run in the background and will store the "Archived" emails still within the Mail App.
Basically just moving old emails from the live IMAP mailbox to the "On My Mac" portion but maintain it's relative folder location.
The App you recommended, I'm afraid is a bit overkill for my users.
    Any other suggestions?

  • Bug in 2.1:  Moving pictures leaves stale thumbnail

This used to happen a lot with the original Lightroom Beta, but
rarely happened after the 2.1 RC.
It has happened three times with 2.1 final when moving pictures from a folder into a sibling, aka from:
    g:\pics\unpro into
    g:\pics\misc
But it doesn't always happen. Same symptom as before - the thumbnails don't get refreshed unless you restart lightroom.
It hasn't happened yet when moving pictures to a different drive.
    - Frank

It happened again and I did some experimentation.
It does not always happen, but it is repeatable. I've now
    reproduced it about 8 times.
Move one picture from one folder to another. Repeat until it happens.
I did a 'Relaunch and Rebuild' and then restarted Lightroom, and I had to move about 20 pictures (one by one) before it reoccurred.
What I am doing is dragging a picture from G:\pics\unpro into g:\pics\steve. I haven't done any changes to the pictures, I'm just organizing them a bit.
When the problem occurs, I notice the following:
I can see the moved picture in both folders, as if I had copied the picture, rather than moved it. Once I restart lightroom it is only in the correct folder.
On the disk, the picture is correctly in the new folder, and does
not exist in the original folder.
Let me know if you want me to try anything else.

  • Moving pictures in film rolls

Has anybody figured out how to slow down the scrolling when moving pictures from one roll to another? I keep whizzing by the roll I want.

This happens to me, too. I participated in a thread about this:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3075268&#3075268
although nothing has really corrected the problem for me. And while I have the utmost respect for Terence Devlin, who is probably correct 99.9% of the time, I'm still not totally convinced that this is a mouse problem. [Sorry, TD.] I just don't see it in other contexts, (not even in Finder) but it happens consistently in iPhoto, and only when trying to drag selected items.
That being said, I have learned to live with and work around it. When moving pictures between rolls, I must keep all rolls closed except the one I select photos from. If the target roll is on screen with the beginning roll, there's no problem. If not, I may have to drop the photos in the closest roll to the target that I can manage. Like iPhoto leapfrog. Say I'm scrolling up. I may drop the photos into the highest roll on screen before iPhoto begins to hyper scroll. Then scroll the window to move that roll down, and drag them a second time upwards. Eventually the roll I'm in and the target roll will share the screen, and I can finish the job.
I'll be watching with interest to see if you find a solution. [Now TD will come correct me. That's okay, I'm used to it. And like I said, he's usually right. So he's probably right. Try anything he suggests and let us know if it works. :-)]

You did import these important photos over to an alternative storage medium, just like you would with any digital camera, right?

A series of video files (0001.MTS to 0005.MTS) were imported into premiere, when moved to timeline premiere combined them and made them look like one long clip named 0001.MTS. Multiple motion edits and opacity edits were made. When project manager moved the project, the actual video content of 0002.MTS to 0005.MTS was missing(source clips are still there but they were playing and working as part of that 0001.MTS timeline clip before). Those parts of the 0001.MTS clip in the timeline were Danger Striped and can be relinked but now have no edits anymore. The edits are apparently only linked with the original 0001.MTS source clip but extend beyond the actual range of the actual source clip. At the time I thought it was weird that premiere displayed the whole string of clips as one (with one name and no breaks) but it all works in the original project file but cannot be transferred to another location without multiple clips showing Danger Stripes.I need to move it and preserve the dozens of motion and opacity edits linked to the apparently oversized timeline clip. HELP!! any ideas?
I did not nest any clips or sequences, premiere just seemed to combine the clips under one name when I moved them to timeline.
    I am using CS5.
