Lost embedded album art after iTunes 11 upgrade

I just spent 6 months embedding album art into my music files and movie files.  Pre-iTunes 11, all album art was displayed.  After upgrading to iTunes 11, every album and movie starting with the letter A and B has no album art.  I used purchased Mac apps to embed album art into my files, so I know it is there.  Can somebody from Apple please fix this bug?  Maybe in the next iTunes update, can Apple fix the issue with iTunes not showing embedded abum art.  I am not talking about added album art, I am talking about purchasing an App to use and actually embedding album art into my music and movie files from my own personal purchased content.  Please somebody look into this and fix in the next update?  If I got into Finder and navigate to my iTunes music/movies folder, the movie/music file is there with the embedded album art.  So, this proves to me that there is a bug in iTunes 11 that prevents it from displaying album art for every piece of content that starts with the letter A and B.  Please fix?

I have the exact same problem. I've found that for movies, if I choose "Get Info" for each movie and then click on the "Artwork" tab, my cover art is still there and I just have to select it and it restores it for the movie. I haven't checked with music, as most of my music art is fine. This is a pain as I have a couple hundred movies that I have to do this for (uuuggghhhhh), but at least it's a fix.

  • Update embedded Album Art from iTunes Store?

Missing Album Art is automatically added to my iTunes library. Excellent!
But I have a large number of albums/songs with embedded album art of low quality (200x200). Is there a way to update these without having to manually delete the old Album Art for each song individually?
Is there a way to embed the album art from iTunes into the mp3-files instead of storing them externally (in the iTunes Album Art directory?) Probably not........

Is there a way to update these without having to manually delete the old Album Art for each song individually?
Well, you don't have to do it individually -- you can select all the songs for which you want to delete, right-click and select "Get Info", then check the Artwork box, then click OK. This will delete all the artwork for those songs (permanently!)
Is there a way to embed the album art from iTunes into the mp3-files instead of storing them externally (in the iTunes Album Art directory?)
I have a script to do just that. You have to download it first (say, to your Desktop)
    http://teridon.googlepages.com/itunesinsertartwork.vbs
Then you have to run it using the Command Prompt:
    1) Bring up a command prompt (Start..All Programs..Accessories..Command Prompt)
    2) Enter these commands:<pre>cd Desktop
    cscript itunesinsertartwork.vbs</pre>
    3) Select the playlist (or select the whole Library with "1") which contains the songs for which you want to embed the artwork.
NOTE:Embedding artwork will cause your files to take up more hard drive space because for downloaded artwork iTunes only needs one copy. Embedding the artwork makes a copy of the artwork for every song with that artwork. Artwork files from the iTMS are typically 400-500 KB each.

  • Lost all album art after moving library to new HD

So, I found that my iTunes library was growing too big for my primary hd. I added an extra internal HD and followed the instructions on how to move my iTunes library found here (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301748). Everything seemed to come over ok (playlists, play counts) except for my album art. All of it has gone missing. I can't possibly add all that art in again. Can anyone tell me how to get my art back (I still have the original iTunes folder on my primary HD) or what I did wrong in moving the library.
    Thanks
    P.S. I'm running iTunes 6.0.1 on a G5 with 10.4.3
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

OK Ive attempted all the suggestions mentioned here but have still had no luck. I deleted all the original iTunes docs on my Mac and rebooted etc but iTunes is still refusing to ignore the new iTunes folder on my new external HD, even though it is already connected.
I also tried to import the songs back into iTunes by creating a new iTunes folder on my ext HD but it just seems to create a duplicate of the folder Im trying to get iTunes to recognise and I cant see the point in waiting another 12hrs to import the songs again just so iTunes can recreate a duplicate of what I already have !
Heres how Ive directed iTunes to the folder using prefs :
    NewHD/Music/iTunes/iTunesMusic
and then in the iTunesMusic folder are the artists folders and then inside of them are the album folders for each artist.
I also had a bunch of other stuff in my iTunes folder that I have tried iTunes with the items still in the folder and them taken out, heres what they are :
Album Artwork Folder (But this has been recreated on my Mac since I reset iTunes)
    iTunes Export Text File
iTunes Library Data File (Again recreated on my Mac since resetting iTunes)
iTunes Music Library.xml File (Again recreated on my Mac since resetting iTunes)
Previous iTunes Libraries Folder containing 3 iTunes Library Data Files named iTunes 4 Music Library, iTunes Library 2005-9-8 and iTunes Library 2006-09-12.
As I have said I have tried iTunes both with these files and without unless Im using them in the wrong place.
Can any please possibly help me with my situation and the placement of the right files in the right place as I do not wish to have to go through the process of re-importing especially when all iTunes is going to do is recreate something that I already have ... many thanks

  • Ipad 2 lost music album artwork after ios 5

ipad 2 lost music album artwork after ios 5 upgrade. After the first Sync, 90% of my albums had blank covers.

I had the same starting with taking 3 times synchronisation before my music library was visible on the Ipad-2. Though during synchronisation I saw the tracks being updating, they were nowhere to find . After a manual sync through devices->NNNipad->music and checking the entire music libary, I got my music libary back with the exception of roughly 10% of the artwork was not transferred. It is not related to manual added artwork as most of them are correctly transfered.
Checking the through info on the albums I found the following issue:
In the past i_tunes kept the artwork related to the album, now it keeps it attached to the several tracks. So when in I-tunes right clicking an album and selecting "info" you will find no artwork there. But when selecting a track and right clicking it (choose again "info" here it is you will find the artwork. The missing artwork in iOS5 is related to the fact that in the library on my computer the albums had artwork, but the tracks were not showing it. Adding again (with i-tunes 10.5) the artwork and re-sincing solved the problem for me.
I hope this will help you, Hedzer

  • ITunes jacked up album art after adding music to iPhone

After adding some new music to my phone last night, I noticed several files either lost the album art or it was wrong altogether.  This has happened before and it took several frustrating hours of documenting which files were messed up and correcting the album art.  But when I corrected the discrepancy, others that had the right artwork originally got messed up.  So I had to constantly check and recheck to make sure the music had the right art.
The funny thing is, in iTunes the album art 'appears' correct under the iPhone device section.  It's just wrong when you physically look at the phone.  Do I need to go through the entire list of songs on the phone and delete every piece of album art and start all over again?  Just so I don't have to go through 5 or 6 iterations before iTunes gets it right?
We're dealing with 1s and 0s here so what causes iTunes to mess this up?

I am having the same issue. I recently update my mac and then want to update my iphone. I notice my art album on my iphone is all mess up. I check my music on iTunes the art album are correct. What am I suppose to do to correct this problem. This problem just happen yesterday (10/30/2013). Please help because I don't want to go throughout my entire music when it's apple fault..please advise on what to do. Thanks

  • Missing/inconsistent/wrong album art after installing iTunes 10

Ever since I installed iTunes 10, weird things are happening with the album art in my iTunes libraries and across my iPods and iPhone.
Before the update, most of my library had album art -- in fact, I had gone to the trouble of pasting it into the individual songs so that it would be "embedded" in the file.
It's still there in the library, but not on my phone or iPods, random tracks are missing artwork, or display artwork from a different track.
Makes no sense, or at least I haven't been able to figure out what the commonality is with the affected tracks. Anyone else seen this?

If all your music is in iTunes, you could try restoring your iPod, this will erase the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings: Restoring iPod to Factory Settings
Alternatively if your iPod is set to update automatically then try this:
    1. Connect your iPod
    2. Disable "Show Album art" in iTunes>Edit>Preferences>iPod.
    3. Syncronise the iPod with iTunes. (Disconnecting and then reconnecting your iPod will do the trick)
    4. Re-enable "Show Album Art" in iTunes>Edit>Preferences>iPod.
    5. Syncronise the iPod again.

  • How do I Replace album art in ITunes 12

How do I replace album art in ITunes 12. Before the upgrade I was able to delete and paste a new one in get info. No can do now!

The new iTunes 12 Get Info dialog lacks right-click context menus (at least for now) but it still accepts most standard keyboard shortcuts and drag & drop actions.
    Delete Artwork
On the artwork tab of Get Into, tap the image in question, use Backspace or Ctrl+X. Delete doesn't work.
Or, tap the image at the top left of Get Info, this time use Backspace or Delete, it is Ctrl+X that doesn't work.
    Add Artwork
Select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the centre of the Artwork tab, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the small image area at the top left, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, you can drag & drop to, or sometimes from, the same locations.
You can also copy artwork from the Get Info dialog to Windows Explorer with the keyboard shortcuts.
If the source image is on a web page right-click and use Copy Image rather than copy. (With Chrome I get a one pixel wraparound so tend to go for a temporary local copy anyway - not sure whose bug this is, but it isn't new.)
If you have multiple images embedded drag the one you want to be the primary artwork to the leftmost position.
    Replace/Remove All Artwork
The top left image box can be used to add or delete art from multiple tracks. In either case all existing artwork in all tracks is replaced/removed.
    Old Style Get Info Dialog
Select some items, right-click, hold down shift, then click Get Info from the context menu. (Use alt/option on a Mac)

Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"

  • Embedded Album Art not Displaying Showing in Windows Explorer

Trying To Clean up my Music Collection using windows explorer.  Embedding album art works fine for MP3's yet it is not replacing the (film/file/musicnote/baloon/) icon for Mpeg4 - M4A files.
What annoying is that the embedded art may be present but I can't tell just by looking at the individual files.  how can I get confirmation outside of loading up itunes?
is it possible for me to get the embedded art to display in place of the file icon in windows explorer for these file types?  if so, how?

It only happens wih some files, and I can't seem to find out what the correlation is.
If I take a series of mp3s where the album art cannot be displayed in iTunes but can in MediaMonkey or, extract the album art from the the tag through MediaMonkey (iTunes artwork fetching usually gives me poor results), and then assign the album art through iTunes, yes the album art does appear to be saved and displayed through iTunes.  But that's a process.
Additionally, if I reassign the artwork in MediaMonkey (not readding it, just reapplying the assignment to all selected items) the artwork will show up in iTunes.
I'm going to play around with Mp3Tag and see if that yields anything.

  • How do you add album art in iTunes 12? everything I've tried doesn't work

how do you add album art in iTunes 12?

    Two methods:
Right-click on the album, select Get Album Artwork.  iTunes will determine whether this album is available from the iTunes Store and, if so, download the artwork image from the Store and associate it with the media files.
Right-click on the album, select Get Info and then the Artwork tab,  Then:
click the Add Artwork button, navigate to and select an image file on your computer, or
drag and drop an image file from your computer to the Artwork tab, or
copy an image to the clipboard (for example, from a web page) go to the Artwork tab and press Ctrl-V (there's a bug in iTunes 12.0.1.26 such that right-click > paste does not work here
For the second method, you can also access the "old style" editor window from iTunes 11 by holding down Shift as you right-click > Get Info.
Lastly, there are three cases in which you can follow these procedures but artwork is not correctly associated with or embedded in your media files:
your media are in a format that doesn't accommodate embedded artwork - typically WAV files.  To embed artwork you'll need to convert to another format - Apple Lossless or AIFF if you want to preserve lossless quality, AAC or MP3 otherwise.
your media files are read only - to fix this, use Windows Explorer to find the folder that contains your files, right-click and select Properties.  On the General tab there's a check box labeled "Read-only" - if this is checked, or is grey (sometimes blue), click the box so that the flag is unchecked and the box is white.  Click OK, and then OK again when the "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files" option selected.  Now try adding the artwork again.
Windows permissions issues are preventing iTunes from updating your media files (there's some anecdotal evidence of a change in this behavior in iTunes 12).  See turingtest2's notes on Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows for advice on fixing this, then try adding the artwork again.

  • Embedded Album Art

So I have read the various threads about the issues and very lengthy work arounds for album art not displaying for all tracks when using iTunes Match on the iPhone...
I took a lot of time up embedding album art into each track to see if this would resolve the issue where album art only initially displays on the first track of each album. Obviously, I am aware that the artwork will download as each track is played but this would mean carrying this process out for every track in my iPhone, which is ridiculous!
    My questions then...
Is apple going to patch iTunes Match somehow to resolve this?
Or... Is there another way to force my iPhone to download album art for every track without performing such a time consuming task as mentioned above
(I have tried deleting and re downloading an album on my iPhone but the issue remains).
    Thanks in advance.

The iTunes Match service will inevitably evolve - however, the current version does frustrate many with today's performance.
For iPhone 4S perhaps the simplest route at present is to use standard playlists built on the Computer library - view on the iPhone - scroll to end and select 'download all' option when on stable Wi-Fi network.

  • Blurry album art with iTunes 11

So i got very blurry album art with iTunes 11. It seems to scale album art wrongly with my screens resolution, which is 1920x1080.
When i make iTunes smaller the album art is fine and not blurry.
I didn't have this problem with 10.7 as it had the slider for customizing album art size.
So what can I do to change this?

What is the competition you're referring to?
I use itunes as a database and a jukebox.I embedded thousands of jpegs into my HUGE itunes library so that while I'm playing a music file I can see who's playing what.In the earlier version of itunes I could have all the information as well as all the music in one place on one external hard drive.
The ability to expand front and back lp covers or scroll thru the entire cd booklet is a great feature that iTunes has now eliminated. My project using itunes was to completely digitize my music collection-all the music files and all the lp covers/cd booklets etc. I have spent the last five years at least working on this.Luckily I have all my jpegs in a separate folder outside of itunes so my endless scanning has not been totally in vain.I know better than to put all my eggs in one basket...
Please tell me what program or software can do what iTunes used to do and I will gladly use it.
Or if apple would offer the earlier versions of iTunes(with the eliminated features) for power users like me that might be better than nothing.
Eventually when I get a new mac I will be forced to use the current version of itunes,I won't have a choice....
Maybe by then, the competion will come up with what I'm looking for... thanks for reading.

  • Displaying ipod album art in itunes

I have a question about the iPod's display of album art in iTunes when it is plugged into my computer. I had been getting really frustrated for the better part of the evening after adding a bunch of album art to my music, updating it on the iPod (I do manual update so I dragged the songs onto the iPod after adding the art), and then clicking on them in the iPod's library in iTunes only to see that there was no album art there. What gives?
However, I realized that I was getting annoyed for no reason when I checked it out in the iPod itself, after I disconnected it. All of the album art is there.
So here is the strange behavior I have observed this evening: if I had to go out on the internet and find cover art myself, and add it manually to the files in iTunes, it displays in the iPod's library in iTunes. If iTunes helpfully went out and found the cover art for me automatically, it does NOT display in the iPod library in iTunes (although it is actually there when you go to play the music on the disconnected iPod). I went through the iPod's library in iTunes and this is consistently what is happening.
Obviously this isn't a life-or-death kind of situation, but I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this behavior or knows why this happening. For what it's worth, my entire iTunes library is on an external hard drive, and all of my music is on there in the same place. Do you think iTunes is storing the art in separate places depending on whether I added it or it found it on its own? Would this even matter? I am very curious about this. Thanks for any insight anyone has for me.

when i play the music on the iPod the albums show up
no problem... but when the iPod is connected to
iTunes, and i'm browsing my ipod via itunes, only
    some album art shows up...
IE: beck guero, has album art in the itunes library,
it also has the art on the ipod if i play it with the
ipod disconnected from my mac. it DOES NOT show album
art when connected to itunes and view the ipod within
    itunes...
whats the deal? some albums are just fine, but the
vast majority of them dont display the art while in
itunes... again, if i disconnect the ipod and view
them on the ipod, there is no problem all albums
    display.
    any help is appreciated.
Just so you know, you're not going crazy and you're not the only one that's seeing this. I'm seeing the same behavior with a 30GB 5G iPod and iTunes7 under Windows XP.

  • I cannot delete embedded album artwork in iTunes 12

I cannot delete embedded album artwork in iTunes 12.  I download music from a service that sometimes has album artwork embedded, and I usually just delete it.  Then I add the artwork from iTunes with the "get album artwork" command.  But it only works if you can delete the embedded artwork first...and in iTunes 12, so far, I cannot.  So I am stuck with the artwork that came with the files...and it's not always good.  (Sometimes, it's even silly ads!)
In iTunes 11 and prior versions, I would highlight the songs in the album, right-click then choose "get info," choose the "details" tab, and put a checkmark next to the empty album art box for all songs.  That would delete the embedded album artwork.  You could also paste an image into the little box and it would apply to all the songs that had no artwork, to be sure they were all the same.  Alternatively, I could also highlight the songs in the album, right-click then choose "get info," choose the "artwork" tab, and delete, cut or paste artwork right into the larger pane.
Without the ability to delete embedded artwork, I cannot maintain my library the way I'd like to.  I even prefer the full album artwork to a "single" artwork, and so I even change the free iTunes downloads singles to the main album artwork.
Please help.  Does anyone know how to delete album artwork in iTunes 12?  I have a huge library and I want to continue to maintain it with the correct album artwork.

Old Style Get Info Dialog (as given above)
Select some items, right-click, hold down shift, then click Get Info from the context menu. (Use alt/option on a Mac)
