  • "Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility."  Trying to format my iomega external HD for use with Mac

Hi. Trying to connect iomega ext. HD. i have to reformat for Mac. When i plug in & go to Disk Utility, the external shows up and i'm supposed to click "partition". When i do, a box comes up saying ""Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility." I quit and relaunched, same results. After googling my question, i came up with this:
"Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility."
(Quitting and reopening Disk Utility does not help.)
The following also appears in Console log:
*** malloc[419]: Deallocation of a pointer not malloced: 0x290a410; This could be a double free(), or free() called with the middle of an allocated block; Try setting environment variable MallocHelp to see tools to help debug : for architecture i386 object: ./Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes malformed object (unknown flavor for flavor number 0 in LC_UNIXTHREAD command 27 can't byte swap it)
    Workaround
    Quit Disk Utility.
From the Finder's Go menu, choose Go to Folder....
Type the following, then click OK: /Library/Receipts
Temporarily remove these iTunes receipts from /Library/Receipts (sort the folder alphabetically as a list):
    iTunes.pkg
    iTunes4.pkg
You can put them on the desktop, for example. Do not remove iTunesX.pkg or iTunes Phone Driver.pkg.
Open Disk Utility and repair disk permissions again.
    Quit Disk Utility.
Put the removed iTunes receipts back in /Library/Receipts.
Note: This issue does not affect Disk Utility's verify or repair disk features.
All seemed good, for a moment, until, upon going back to Disk Utility after removing itunes4.pkg and putting on desktop (i did not have itunes.pkg to remove) the same thing was happening. When i highlite my iomega ext. on left of page, disk perrmissions is grayed and does not allow me to click on it. Same problem from the start. Can somebody please help me out here? That would soooo awesome. Thanx!

i'm just scared i will do something wrong on my own and lose my data.
You shouldn't be scared of that, because you should already have backups. If you don't have backups, then backing up is the first priority.
Insert the Snow Leopard DVD and restart. When you hear the chime, hold down the C key and keep holding it until the Apple logo appears on the display. You should now see the language selection screen. Select your language, then choose Utilities > Disk Utility from the menu bar. In the Disk Utility window, select the external drive (not the internal). The drive may already have a data partition, in which case there will be another icon below the drive icon. Choose the drive icon, then select the Partition tab. Create a single partition with the default options (GUID partition table, Mac OS X Extended Journaled).
When the partitioning is done, select the startup volume on your internal drive in the DU window. Select the Restore tab. Drag the icon of the startup volume to the "Source" field. Then drag the icon of the newly-created volume on the external drive to the "Destination" field. Make sure you have this right. Then click the Restore button, and the data on your startup volume will be copied to the external drive.

  • How do I fix 'lost' plug-ins in the AU Manager?

I am running Logic 8 and I have had no problems until I noticed today that many, about 30, plug-ins seem to be missing. They are still loaded on my computer and ProTools sees all of them but Logic does not, even in the AU Manager, which used to see them.
Amplitube, T-Racks, Blue Cat, among others are now gone. I noticed this is Toast as well.
What can I do please!? I am in dire need now.

I have run disc check. Since I have Logic 8 I did not use 64 bit mode. I do not think that is an option in this version but if I am wrong I have not altered any of those settings.
PT sees the plug-ins in its own format of RTAS and VST - I have a convertor, but Logic is not seeing it in its format of AU.
I have only found 1 Component folder and it is nearly empty now! I have no idea how this is so.

  • Energy Management software keeps making shortcuts in the Start Menu

I just recently reformatted my laptop and installed Windows 7 Ultimate. I got the drivers from my laptop model's download page in the Lenovo support website, and everything was working fine - except for when the Lenovo Energy Management software would keep making shortcuts in the Start Menu every time I reboot the system.
I had my Start Menu organized, created folders to categorize my apps, so it's really annoying when a folder I already deleted pops up every time I start my laptop. Why does it happen? Is there a fix for it?

    Hi Pommy,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
I’m sorry to hear that a shortcut is automatically getting created, I would suggest you to re-install the LEM (Lenovo Energy Management) in the computer and while installing the driver right click on the downloaded file and select “Run as administrator” option to get it installed without any error.
Do post us back if the issue persists.

  • HT201250 How do you stop a Macbookpro with OSX 10.7.5 from turning off or logging off before timemachine is finished with the backup even though I have changed settings for energy management to "never" shutdown when plugged in to an outlet?

My problem is my Macbookpro mid 2010 with OSX 10.7.5 seems to turn off or logs off before timemachine is finished with the backup even though I have changed settings for energy management to "never" shutdown when plugged in to an outlet?

I had this problem on an IMac and I finally found a solution in an unlikely place. The problem was a security setting. I don't remember right this moment the exact setting and I am not on that machine right now but when I am I will try to retrace my steps to the fix. In the meantime check your security settings and any browser or browser extensions for computer log off settings. These settings are intended to prevent unauthorized use and incidentally screw up your backups. Hope this helps.

  • Y2P - Installed Energy Manager before the BIOS update: problem?

So, my yellows are still not the best of yellows.
I installed the Energy Manager and then saw that there was a BIOS update that you were supposed to install before EM.  Whoops.
Removed EM, rebooted, and reinstalled, rebooted.  Yellows look a little better, but still a little mustardy.
    Thoughts?

ok nevermind the above post, I found a utility to make a bootdisk that works from bootdisk.com all my problems went away and am typing this from enlightenment as we speak.

  • U310 Energy Management Bluetooth Icon

I recently installed the Lenovo Energy Management program on my U310 to take better care of my battery. Since doing this, I now have this annoying Bluetooth icon with an "X" through it that pops up about twice a minute. This is very distracting and seems unnecessary. If anyone knows how to fix this or turn this off, that would be much appreciated.
Note: I originally had Windows 8 on this system, now I have Windows 7 Professional. I'm not even sure if this system had Bluetooth to begin with, but there is clearly one device my computer has not been able to identify and I wonder if the Bluetooth driver got lost while switching from Windows 8 to Windows 7? Any help is appreciated!

    hi Chellelin 92,
Thanks for using Lenovo Community Forums!
Uninstall the Lenovo Energy Management again from Control Panel / Programs
    Then reinstall it from here
     Lenovo Energy Management Driver
And Can you check the hardware ID of that unknown device You have under device manager and post it back here.

  • Energy Management Driver problem

Hello, I have an IdeaPad S10-3t, and I've upgraded it to Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I have managed to load alternate drivers for all components except for Lenovo Energy Management, since Lenovo doesn't provide support for 64bit OSes on this tablet.
The problem is, Energy Management seems to be a 32-bit driver, and after I install it and reboot, the computer BSODs on startup, EVEN IN SAFE MODE,  and I have to do Startup Repair > System Restore and roll back to recover my system to a usable state. I've also noticed the Lenovo Active Protection system (the one that parks the hard drive in event of a free-fall) also causes BSODs when I install it...
I cannot use Energy Management or see the hotkey OSD because of this. Does anybody know where I can find 64 BIT drivers for the ACPI\VPC2004 power controller?

    hi Azothyran,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums
The Lenovo S10 series doesn't list any Windows 7 64bit drivers for the Lenovo Energy Management.. What you can try is to install the Lenovo Energy management for other models. Try these:
Lenovo Energy Management     Lenovo Energy Management
    Windows 7 64bit / v4.4.0.8          Windows 7 64bit / v5.4.0.8
    IN1EGC11WW6.exe                     IN1EGC15WW6.exe
    7.66 MB                                           7.91 MB
Lenovo Energy Management      Lenovo Energy Management
    Windows 7 64bit / v6.0.1.6           Windows 7 64bit / v7.0.3.9
    IN8STW09WW5.exe                     cagt32ww.exe
    13.4 MB                                           21.3MB
If one of the drivers above work, try to press Fn+ arrow up/down to increase/decrease the brightness
    Hope this helps

  • B570e Energy Management Driver for Windows 8.1

    Hi ,
    Recently , I installed Windows 8.1 on my B570e laptop .
Some problems I faced , such as touchpad scrolling and inverted scrolling and I solved it by installing the old driver , because the new driver does not include advanced settings.
However , there is no energy management driver for my laptop.
The energy management driver for windows 7 has no effect.
I tried installing energy driver in this link and it is not working at all.
My laptop still work and does not sleep automatically after 25 miutes.
What is the solution for energy management ?

    Hi Revo,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that sleep, touchpad and other power management feature are not working as expected after upgrading to Windows 8.1; I suggest you re-install the LEM (Lenovo Energy Management) driver available, while installing the drivers right click on the downloaded file and select “Run as administrator” option to get it installed without any error. The issue should resolve if the latest display driver is installed in the computer, below are the link to automatically scan the computer and install the relevant driver from Intel and NVIDIA:
    Intel display driver auto detect
    NVIDIA graphics driver auto detect
Below is an image which will explain why some of the drivers are not available in support site for Windows 8.1:

    Hope this helps!!!

  • T440s doesn't have Lenovo Energy Management program?

How come my T440s doesn't have the Lenovo Energy Manager program? I remember my other Ideapads had it. ThinkPads don't come with that program preinstalled? I wanted to do a battery gauge reset/recalibration.
    Solved!

    Hi,

  • Lenovo Energy Management says my battery is illegal

    Hello!
I bought Lenovo G710 laptop only few months ago, but now it is complaining that my battery is illegal. I have still the original battery in the laptop, so how can this be? I tried to remove the battery, uninstalling also the battery from Device Manager. I have also updated to the latest Energy Management. Nothing works. It is still "illegal"? What can I do to resolve this issue? Please help...
    BR
    Marko

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !
First try doing a reset of the BIOS. This can be useful in some situations to resolve hardware conflicts. Here's how......
    1. Unplug the charger / adapter.
    2. Remove the battery.
    3. Press and hold the Power Button for 15 seconds.
    4. Re-install the battery, plug in the charger / adapter if needed and power up the system to see if the problem was resolved.
If that didn't work then uninstall the Lenovo Energy Management driver, reboot the computer and then install a fresh copy of the Energy Management driver.
If the problem still continues, I suggest that you contact Lenovo Support for further warranty service.  Some folks that have had a similiar problem reported here that Lenovo Support sent them a replacement battery.   You can find the phone number for Lenovo Support in your country or area by using the link below....

  • G580 energy management causing wireless problem

So first, I apologize if this post is in the wrong place. I didn't see g580s anywhere.
I've narrowed down my wireless issues to the power manager (I think.)
If the laptop is plugged in to AC then wireless connects fine. If running on battery then it won't connect unless energy management is set to 'performance' instead of default 'balanced.'
i'm on win8 and have tried energy management version 8.0.2.5, 8.0.2.3, and the latest version for win7 all with the same result.
I've unchecked the box in device manager for the wireless network adapter to "allow the computer to turn ff this device to save power."
I just bought this laptop yesterday and it would be great if someone knew what I was overlooking.
    Thanks in advance!
    Solved!

    Hi Artificialed,
Thank you for posting and Welcome to Lenovo Community,
I’d like to ask you to completely uninstall Lenovo Energy Management application and restart the system,
And then please check the wireless on the battery without energy management and see it it’s the same,
And after that please install the Lenovo Energy management from the below link and share the status of the wireless connection after this:

Hope the information helps. Let us know.
