LOST EVERYTHING AFTER 2.0 UPDATE

Fellow iPhoners
Recently I upgraded to the 2.0 update which went through smoothly, it restored my iphone with my up to date contacts and other information. I got the apps. store and downloaded a couple apps. and everthing was fine. Well the next day I noticed that none of my music or videos had synced to my phone so I jumped back on and proceeded to sync my media. Well after the sync it down graded my contact list and all information from back in October.
(note: I called apple and the guy pretty much didn't help me and said the information is gone.)
thanks,
John

I lost my photos and my books after 4.3 update. As I opened Books I saw my list evaporate. After reading another thread on this site I rebooted and got my photos back but not my books. Help.

  • Lost everything after update!!!

heey, ive had my phone for about 10 months now and i decided to update it. i backed everything up on my PC and after it updated i had lost everything on my phone.
i found the backup finally but it wont let me open it.
I've re-added my contacts (most) and a fraction of my apps, but for some reason it doesnt have BLACKBERRY MAPS installed on it anymore.
i use it quite often as well, so any advice would be a great help.
    Thanks before hand

You need to use Desktop Manager's restore feature and then use that backup file to restore to the device.  What version of DM are you using?

  • Had to restore and lost everything after latest update why?

I cant belive this, i know alot of people are saying well you must be a bit thick not to make a backup but i dont expect this sort of thing to happen, my first problem in 3-4 years, i have lost everything. truly gutted. thanks Apple.

Sorry, im annoyed and angry, i wanted the answer to what has caused this but like you said no one here would know on an Apple Support Community, "this has been reported since the very first iOS update". Apple hasnt adapted much then has it. i dont think i had to many valuable pictures, its more that i now have to **** about downloading like over 100 apps get peoples numbers again etc etc. dont remember anything like this with the good old nokia 3310, what happened to sims remembering my numbers??

  • I lost artwork after the latest update?

After the latest update I lost most of my artwork but oddly not all of it. I am now trying to fix the issue and have run into a roadblock: the artwork won't take. I've tried several different approaches to adding the artwork but none of them are showing up on my iPad, though it looks like they are there on my iMac. I manually manage my music so I can't sync the stuff. When I tried deleting an album and replacing it my iTunes freaked out ("preparing to update" and a swirly mouse pointer is all I get.)
How do I fix this issue?
I'm a bit obsessive when it comes to having the artwork boxes filled so this is driving me a bit crazy... ugh.

Okay. You've mentioned an iPad and an iMac and iTunes. So what brings you to the iBook Discussions?
When posting in one of those other discussion areas, it may be helpful to include which version the OS and iTunes you're running on the Mac you're using to sync the iPad.

  • Lost Everything after I downloaded iOS5

I just downloaded iOS5 on my iphone 4 and lost EVERYTHING!! I lost ALL my contacts, my apps, calendar, messages, pictures...EVERYTHING!!! I have tried to restore and everything I can think of dont know what to do.  Someone help please! I had everything in my phone. I dont even know my doctors phone numbers or any appointments. I have NOTHING!!! how can I get back to before I updated?

If you contacts are limited to a group e-mail the following will restore to the all contact list:
    Go to:
settings / mail, contacts, calanders /
Go into each mail account in to Contacts & make sure contacts option is OFF
by switching off the contacts in the mail accounts you original contacts list should be restored.

  • Lost Everything after transfer/update

I cant find any of my recently bought apps/songs after recently updating my ipod to a new computer after the old one crashed. When transfering there was a button that asked about transfering music and losing purcahes. I didnt read it carefully and clicked continue. Now everything is gone and I cant seem to find purchases anyway. I was wondering if there is anyway to get this stuff back?

    Redownload your iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Lost everything after update to OS 4.0!

Just now I backed up and updated my 3G to OS 4.0. But after the update, all my data/backup were gone. Did this happen to anyone else?

Replying to my own message now!
Thanks to the 3 helpful responses - much appreciated. I'm obviously not the same person in this boat!
However 3 bits of good news!
    1. Well this is good for me (not your guys/gals) - I managed to get my hands on an iPhone 4 this morning! It's great so far...
    2. From Apps store after restiring from yesterday's backup, when downloading the missing apps, the data and associated account information is restored! Yippee!
    3. As per 2 above, but when downloading and installing the paid for apps - it recognises that I have already paid for them and says I can re-download them for free!
Thanks to all and I hope the above restores some faith for those who were in a similar position to me!
    Happy iPhoning!

  • Lost messages after ios 8 update

    Hi,
After the ios 8 update, I appear to have lost many text messages from my history (and attached photos).  So far, they seem to be non-Apple, non-iMessage contacts.
Does anyone have a solution to recover them?
    Thanks,
    Ray

    Restore to your latest back-up.

  • How can I restore lost voicemails after iOS 5 update?

I've seen a lot of posts of this sort, but I've been trying to fix this issue for months and I really need some experienced help... When I updated my phone to iOS 5, I received a message saying my phone couldn't be restored because the backup was encrypted--I had neither requested nor set a password for this encryption. The phone now had none of my information on it, notes, texts, voicemail. I panicked, called Apple, and they helped me find a way to restore the notes from files in iTunes, which is a relief because I'm a writer and had a lot of work in there.
However, the phone started asking me for a voicemail password that to my knowledge, I had never set. I tried a few passwords and attempted a few other methods of recovery, all to no avail. So I reset my voicemail password, as all the online literature I could find suggested. However, the "password is incorrect, please enter your password" prompt then no longer showed up. After long deliberation I set up visual voicemail over again, but to my dismay I no longer have any saved messages.
At this point I have lost over a year's worth of text messages and voicemails. Some of these were incredibly important to me. I would love to recover all of it if possible, but I particularly care about the saved voicemails. Some of these were from my girlfriend during a difficult time in our lives and I really need them back. I also lost important texts from my girlfriend, best friend, and siblings, but the most important thing is the voicemails.
Nothing I'm concerned about is more than a year old, but there are around five or six voicemails I need. No, there is no deleted folder from which I can undelete messages, I know how to do that. My phone is not yet jailbroken but I'm not against doing it if it will allow other methods of restoration to be attempted. I do some coding myself and I'm not daunted by the prospect of sifting around in my computer's files and command line, by the way. I still have all the itunes backups, although half of them are still encrypted with an unknown password. I will pretty much try anything to get these messages back.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

I know of no way to remove encryption on iTunes backups if you've forgotton the password.  If you've used the 4 digit PIN code to lock your iPhone in the past that can sometimes default as your "password" for this encryption in iTunes.  Try that PIN or any PIN you've used in the past.  If you don't use a lock maybe you played around with that feature once when you first got your phone....try "1,2,3,4" or anything you could have possibly tried.
As far as accessing older unencrypted backups you can try this software.  I do not have any experience using it but it seems like it's what you need and is probably the easiest route for both voicemail and texts:
    http://deciphertools.com/products.html
If you want to try to find voicemails using Terminal, I found this link as well:
    http://mikereys.wordpress.com/2011/10/18/iphone-backup-restoring-visual-voice-ma il/
I know with AT&T, voicemails are only stored on their servers for 30 days so any voicemail older than that you would not have been able to access again.
    Best of luck.

  • Iphone 3G Recover Lost Data After iOS 4 Update

I am able to manage my iphone to go back previous backup and restore all calendar - contacts - Lockbox Pro Passwords etc...(data stored for all applications)
First I would like to mention that you should have Windows 7 or maybe you can use Windows XP restore function.
    For Win 7:
    C:\Users\"Your User Name Folder"\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync
    Find the file Named Backup
Then right click the folder and go to properties and form the upper tabs choose "Previous Versions" (Copy the original Backup folder to your desktop for maybe future need.)
Then from the bottom choose "Restore"
Please note that Itunes should be closed that time and you must have a back up for some time ago.
After that you can use the usual Restore function of Iphone from Itunes.
When restoring choose the correct backup file by checking from the date of its creation.
When it is complete you will have all your previous data in your iphone.
    Hope This Helps...

I was able to fix the issue. I had to manually put the phone in restore mode by holding the power button and the home button until the power turned off while the phone was still plugged into the computer, then when the phone turned off continue holding the home button until you hear the computer recognize the device. Then navigate to the back up folder that is described earlier and cut out all of the back up folders and paste them on your desktop. Then iTunes said that a device was recognized in restore mode or something like that and you click yes to restore. After this happen the iPhone will go through the processes of restoring the phone. When it finishes it will start like a brand new device and it will be updated to the OS4.0. You will then need to go through the tabs at the top of the iPhone sync window and re check all of the items that you want synced to your phone. The only data that was totally lost was my pictures, but after the iPhone finishes reloading, you may be able to go back to the desktop and cut the backup folders and paste them back into the backup folder and restore your phone from a previous back up and you may still be able to recover those photos. This worked for me so I hope it works for all of you as well. Thanks!

Trying to get some more info:  You had music on your phone and on your computer before this- correct? Are you syncing to the same computer with the same Apple ID that you did before?  Does iTunes still show your music - but not your phone?  Is this the situation or something different.

  • Photos in Album lost resolution after OS 4 update

All the imported photos in my Album (not Camera Roll) now have very low, grainy resolution after the update. Am i going to have to reimport at a higher resolution?

No, just un-sync photos to remove them and then re-sync to force iTunes to re-optimize them. The optimization process is not just about them taking up less space, it also does something so that they will resolve and zoom quickly on the phone. Seems like iOS 4 handles that differently.
