Lost everything during update

while doing an update my phone dleted everything. is there anyway to get all my information back. my icloud or my backup plan on my computer will not work either.i have lost over  400 songs,900 pctures, and all my apps. is there anyway to retrieve all my information?

Media is never included in a backup, it should already be on the computer.
Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer, a cloud service (like iCloud or Gmail), or an Exchange service.  Have you failed to use the device as designed?
Apps should already be in the iTunes library on the computer or can be redownloaded from iTunes at any time.
Why are the backups not working?  You've provided no details about what is actually happening.

  • Lost everything after update!!!

heey, ive had my phone for about 10 months now and i decided to update it. i backed everything up on my PC and after it updated i had lost everything on my phone.
i found the backup finally but it wont let me open it.
I've re-added my contacts (most) and a fraction of my apps, but for some reason it doesnt have BLACKBERRY MAPS installed on it anymore.
i use it quite often as well, so any advice would be a great help.
    Thanks before hand

You need to use Desktop Manager's restore feature and then use that backup file to restore to the device.  What version of DM are you using?

  • HT1414 deleted everything during update

I updated my nieces ipod and it deleted everything on it. Is there a way to recover songs, apps, and videos? It has reverted back to factory settings and I am not sure if there is a backup.

If you are beyond iOS 4.3..... iTunes (iOS)>>More>>Purchased
from there, you can get the songs that you purchased and videos.
To get apps back: App Store (iOS)>>Updates>>Purchased
from there you can get the apps back and any PAID apps will redownload FREE-OF-CHARGE.
    ALSO
If you need others songs back (CDs or Third-Party) plug your iTouch to iTunes and sync with iTunes...... if you go with this, you can add your apps and videos again.
If your running iOS 4.2 or lower...... then you have to sync with iTunes on computer.

  • 3g or 3GS update and lost iPhone during update

I broke my iPhone 4 that has a sim card in it.
    I wanted to update my iPhone 3G (I don't think it is a 3GS).
    I plugged it into iTunes.
It took all day for it to back up, then an "error" occurred and it won't allow me to restore factory settings, and it doesn't work.
    What are my options?

    Hi there islandpt24,
It sounds like you’ve replaced your damaged iPhone 4 with an earlier iPhone 3G or 3GS and are running into an issue restoring the replacement iPhone. The article linked below provides some great troubleshooting suggestions that’ll resolve most issues like this.
Resolve iOS update and restore errors in iTunes - Apple Support
If the steps outlined in that article don’t resolve the issue, just reply with details about the alert message you’re seeing in iTunes.
    Take care,

  • Lost password during update

Clicked on the newest update and The phone asked for a password since I use the thumb scan for my password I do not have a password, Im stuck, What do I do?

You do have a password/passcode.  If you didn't, you couldn't use the Touch ID for that feature.  You didn't lose the password/passcode.  You forgot it.  Huge difference.
Is it asking for your Apple ID password or your device Lock Passcode?
If Apple ID password, go to iforgot.apple.com and reset it.
If device Lock Passcode, use this: Forgot passcode - Apple Support

  • Lost Printer during update

I was doing an update for my printer from HP and now I do not have a printer in my print folder what do I do?  Please help it is an older printer HP Laserjet1300.  The update stopped while it was doing a scrub.  I guess I ned to learn not to do there updates.

    Hi,
You can download the firmware here and the software should be able to be installed to the printer through the computer. It sounds like you're trying that and it isn't working though?

Does the printer turn on or do anything? If so can you tell me what version of firmware the printer is running? THe easiest way to do that is print out a "printer status report" by finding Tools and then printing out a printer status report.

  • Lost songs during update

I updated my iTouch software and ended up losing my songs on my iTouch and computer. Fortunitely i didn't lose a major investment. What can i do to get my songs back? They show up as purchased on my account.

This happened to my son. He updated the software, and now all of the music I paid for is gone. I still have emails of the receipts where I paid for the music, but I cannot find any way to get the music I bought back on his ipod. How is this okay, when the music was paid for, and the ipod was only supposed to be doing a software update? I feel as if ipod STOLE the music that I paid for, since their software update seems to require me to pay again for content I already purchased. Hmmmmm. Plus, they want to charge me $30 to talk to them about the music they ripped off, with no guarantee of resolving the issue. Why did I buy this for him?

  • Lost everything after update to OS 4.0!

Just now I backed up and updated my 3G to OS 4.0. But after the update, all my data/backup were gone. Did this happen to anyone else?

Replying to my own message now!
Thanks to the 3 helpful responses - much appreciated. I'm obviously not the same person in this boat!
However 3 bits of good news!
    1. Well this is good for me (not your guys/gals) - I managed to get my hands on an iPhone 4 this morning! It's great so far...
    2. From Apps store after restiring from yesterday's backup, when downloading the missing apps, the data and associated account information is restored! Yippee!
    3. As per 2 above, but when downloading and installing the paid for apps - it recognises that I have already paid for them and says I can re-download them for free!
Thanks to all and I hope the above restores some faith for those who were in a similar position to me!
    Happy iPhoning!

  • Lost everything while updating to iOs5

dont know what happened.  everything is gone.

    Try going to iphonbackupextractor.com
    Download their application.
It searches out a previous backup stored on your computer.
You need to select a backup from prior to the iOS5 upgrade.
Then select the Expert mode and find the files you are looking for
Photos are in Medie folder / DCIM / 100APPLE when I tried it.
The freeware version only lets you extract 2 files at a fime. Register and buy the full version and you can probably extract all at the same time.
    Good luck

  • I have updated my iPad and lost everything can you please help me?

I have updated my iPad and lost everything because my only option on iTunes was to update and restore. The update was very strange because I pressed install, I had enough space for the update and I agreed to the terms and conditions. My iPad turned to a black page with a picture of connecting to iTunes, I couldn't get it off my screen even when I plugged it into iTunes. to update and restore my iPad was my only option and if I plugged my iPad out my screen would still say plug into iTunes. I haven't backed up my iPad for a few months but I need the most recent stuff on my iPad. I need my iPad for school. How do I fix this? And can Apple do anything to get it back? I am stressing out so much and I really need answers and I need them quickly. (Sorry if I sound rude but I'm freaking out about this)

You should be able to see all your Purchased Music in your iTunes Account and you can download that Music to your iPhone during a Sync.  First step look under Purchases in iTunes.

  • HT204266 Updated and lost EVERYTHING! How do I get my data back??

Updated to iOS 6.1.2 and lost EVERYTHING!  Apps, files, notes, 6 months of data tracking all gone and MUST have for work.  Lost some apps that iTunes doesn't have listed anymore, nor are they showing up in my purchased apps.  Again, I need these for work!

Yeah, I tried that.  I get this dumb "supervised by another computer" message and it won't even let me connect it to the computer.

  • My brand new Macbook PRO crashed completely after it went through the iOS 10.7.4 update, I lost everything and Apple just wants to replace the HD and let me deal with the hassle.

Last Thursday May 10th I received a prompt from the Automatic Update to update the iOS to Ver. 10.7.4, set the start and was watching the progress when it stopped with an error message saying that it was not able to update, right below there was a buttom "RESTART", pressed the buttom and waited to re-boot.....That was the end of my computer, somehow the update crashed my HD beyond recover, it would only show the gray screen with Apple logo in the center and kept beeping, BEEP BEEP BEEP.....PAUSE.....BEEP BEEP BEEP.....PAUSE.....on and on and on and it never past that.
Friday May 11 I took it to a retailer where I received the bad news that the HD was crashed and the teck couldn't even try to copy anything from it as it couldn't locate it. I checked iCloud on a hope that all my stuff would be there but new surprise, iCloud didn't kept all of my stuff as it was programmed to.
Now here is the funny part, the tech from the retailer informed me that the only thing they could do was to order a new HD for my 4 months old Macbook and that the time to have my computer back will be at least 15 days, now that is the funny part, I fail to understand why do I have to suffer the hassle of loosing all my data plus wait at least 15th days to have my computer back (meanwhile loose work) on a problem caused by Apple, PROBLEM, not machine defect, clearly my computer had no problem untill I followed the procedure to update.
On Saturday May 12 I contacted Local Apple Support (I have failed to mention that I live in Brasil) and they informed me that what the dealer said was the only thing that could be done, too bad for me if I lost everything, going to loose several days of work and whenever I receive my computer back will have to re-construct all my life and deal with the forever lost data.....DEAL WITH IT
After a couple of discussion with Apple Support and the Dealer, I made my decision to take the Macbook to the dealer today for repair and meanwhile I'm opening a case with the Brazilian Justice to have Apple honor with all the trouble and hassle that it is causing me, it's said that I have to take this type of action as I'm a very fan of Apple and it's products, have had several iPods, iPhones, Macbooks, Keyboards, Mouses, Apple TV, etc.....This i the first time I have a problem with a Apple product and got a taste of the "Apple Care", it seems like Apple is more concerned on seeling products then keeping long time customers happy.
One last thing, today when I was at the dealer to drop my computer for repair, the Technician informed me that he also had a computer crashed and the HD erase on Sunday May 13th in the same way of mine, after the update everything was gone, also he said that we were not the only ones, iPads and iPhones were going trough the same situation, update causing complete breakdown.
WORD OF ADVISE, BE 1000% SURE THAT YOU HAVE EVRYTHING BACKED UP BEFORE YOU GO THROUGH AN UPDATE.

If I need to back-up every hour of my life in order to be able to save everything from something like this I won´t do anything else.....at least we should be able to trust that Apple tests this updates so situations like this won´t happen.
That's exactly what Time Machine does for you.  It backs up every hour, so you don't have to.  While it is backing up, you keep on working.  Time Macvhine came with your Mac and you chose not to use it.
The 10.7.4 update did not cause your hard disk to fail.  Hard disk fail due to mechanical causes.  They are extremely reliable, but that doesn't mean every hard disk will last a long time.  Your mileage WILL vary!
If you are dependent on your computer and the data stored on it, then you should make sure you have AT LEAST two copies of all data and probably three or four.  You should use at least two means of backing up in case the backup software has a problem.  And you should consider having a backup computer if you live in an area where replacement takes too long (whatever too long is for your business).
Apple hardware and software is very, very good.  You have documented your experience of this.  But NO hardware or software is perfect.  You also have experience of this.
It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that your system is set up to protect your data and availability of computing resources.
