LOST FAVORITES IN OUTLOOK EXPRESS

ONCE I INSTALLED OSX I HAD TO CHANGE FROM OUTLOOK EXPRESS TO SAFARA AND LOST MY FAVORITES ON OUTLOOK EXPRESS. IS THERE ANY WAY TO RECOVER THOSE? ONE IN PARTICULAR HAD A CASE SENSITIVE PASSWORD SAVED THAT I NO LONGER CAN FIND. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
THANKS,
24HR

DROP THE GUN, NOW! WHERE'S THE NERVE GAS!
Anywho, I'm confused, since Outlook is an email program and Safari is an internet browser; two different kinds of programs.
Have you tried launching Outlook in Classic; do you have Classic?
Also, I suggest that you try not to type ALL IN CAPS. It makes it difficult for other users to read and in the online world it means YOU'RE YELLING!

  • I lost mail Outlook Express 5

please help me. yesterday there was some mistake and I lost all emails from outlook express 5. can be because of a system recovery point? I did kickback
of system since the system is a bit buggy. I am asking if you can help me! I don't know what to do. all emails are very important. Pleaseee(

Go to the directory where is lie the database of outlook express 5 and look at their size. Perhaps there was a compression of bases and there was a failure.
Note the files with the file extension dbt or bak. If they weigh a lot, it means that the mail has been preserved. Rename the dbt file to dbx. Base lying here
    Documents And Settings\$user\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\type {C2CA6003-39F5-43A0-80BA-A61F26C35534}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
But to get there via Windows Explorer you need to enable showing hidden folders. My computer - the top menu Tools - folder options - View Tab - there to
tick Show hidden and system folders. there also to tick (if no) - Show file extensions.
If in this way not be able to recover emails, then you have to use
Address Book Restore Toolbox. By means of this utility you precisely will be able quickly to restore the letters.

  • From Tiger to Leopard: outlook express "lost"

I just upgraded from Tiger to Leopard. When I click on Outlook Express Mail, it won't work.
Are all my thousands of old emails lost forever?
    Thanks.

    Welcome to *Apple Discussions*!
Outlook Express Mail is not a Mac application. Therefore:
    a. You were using Outlook Web Access (OWA) through the web, in which case the alias is broken
    b. You had an alias to a virtual application running within Windows. You may need to check your application such as Parallales, Microsoft Virtual PC, or VMWare Fusion

  • Lost outlook express mail boxes and failed transfe...

I have just joined BT from orange (I had a wanadoo email address).  I've lost the previous contents of OE mail boxes. Any ideas how I might recover. Also followed the instructions for transferring contacts and got message 'cannot read file' or words to that effect. Help please?

    1. If you are lucky your old OE files may still be in the recycle bin on your C: drive so look there first.
I suspect you used the BT disk or similar to setup access to BT and it may have screwed up your existing settings.
If they are there I can tell you how to restore them.
If they are not there look at
    c:\documents and settings \{your username on PC}\local settings\Application Data\Identities\{ an identifier}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
where the bits in {} are unique to your machine.
You should find a file for each of your email folders.
Let us know how big the Inbox.dbx file is and any other Inbox.xxx file.
    2. Waste of time.
    3. I strongly recommend that you use Outlook Express to get your emails from BTYahoo. If you want help here let me know. Note that you can still use OE to get emails from your old provider.

  • Outlook Express corrupted, Lost Folders

My outlook Express prefs file (probably) got corrupted, giving error "End of File Reached". I looked at the Messages file and it had expanded to 241MB. The procedure to rebuild the prefs file creates a new EMPTY messages file and relabelling the old one. I saved the old messages file to my desktop and put a Lock on it. Is there any way to recover items from that file. I tried moving the file back into the Identity, but it is not recognized. 100 pictures and 200 JOKES are at stake here!
    Thanx

My situation is a little more complicated thaan the referenced item. I did the "compact" operation and allocated more file space. Then each message that came up had garbage in the message body - instead of the message. So I experimented. I set up an Entourage account and tried resending the items to that account (to myself). The garbage travelled along. So... I tried to send multiples at a time to Entourage. It worked (for a while). The messages came over intact. I thought I had cracked the code, until about 40 items were transferrred. OE got another "end of file reached". The messages file in the OE identity had expanded from just under 100MB to 241MB. I saved that file to the desktop with lock, moved the original messages file back into the identity along with it's associated prefs file and tried again. This time it expanded to 602MB. This is where I am right now.
I believe the data is still there, but index pointers have somehow gotten corrupted, causing the message file to fill with garbage. I recognized some of the garbage as software product names from my hard drive. Yikes!

  • All Outlook Express email lost with IOS upgrade

I upgraded iTunes to the latest version and upgraded IOS from 4 to 6. Now Pocket Earth maps works on my iPod, but my Outlook Express email on my PC has been completely destroyed. All my emails and contacts are gone!!! What can I do? Is there a solution other than trying to restore my PC to an earlier date and forgetting about the maps for my iPod. (They aren't that useful anyway.) Please help me if you can.

Thanks, but I was able to get all my email data back. I took my PC to Office Depot and their computer guy said it was a user profile error. He changed my identity back to main identity in Outlook Express and that fixed my problem. It cost me $30 but at least it's fixed.

  • I've lost my outlook express email - the bar is there - but nothing else - am not able to figure out how to restore or fix - HELP

I WAS DELETING ALL MY EMAILS FROM OUTLOOK EXPRESS. I DID SOMETHING WRONG (I THINK I MIGHT HAVE HIT SMART MAILBOX OR SOMETHING TO THAT AFFECT) AND NOW I ONLY HAVE THE BAR AT THE TOP - NOTHING ELSE - DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX OR RESTORE. NOT VERY TECH SAVY SO ANY HELP IN TERMS I CAN UNDERSTAND WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. EMAIL ACCOUNT IS STILL GOOD - I CAN ACCESS IT ON LAPTOP - NO PROBLEM

The bar at the top does not have any colors.
I have the apple icon, Mail (in the mail tab I have everything but Quit Mail & Show All)
File (Only 2 items highlighted - Close all Windows & Add RSS Feeds)
Edit (Attachments, Find, Spelling & Grammarr, Substitutions, Tranformations, Speech & Special Characters - rest are un-usable)
View (Message Attributes, Sort by, Selec & Message)
Mailbox (Take All Accounts Offline, Synchronize Account, Online Status, Get New Mail, Erase Deleted Items, new Mailbox, New Smart Mailbox, New Smart Mailbox Folder, Go To Favori9te Mailbox, Move to Fav Mailbox, Use this Mailbox for)
    Message(Mark, Flag & Text coding)
Format (everything but Make Rick Text)
Window (everything but Minimize & zoom)
    Help (normal)
Most of the tabs that are highlighted with the arrow pointing to an additional screen have items that are not highlighted s0 are un-usable.
As an example - the Quit mail command is not usable so the mail is continually running - problem is I can't see it - bar is at the top - screensaver fills the rest.

  • Lost Outlook Express

My sign-on to my computer got corrupted. I no longer have access to any of my programs such as MS Office 2000 nor Outlook Express. two questions:
1 - How do I find and retreive all of my e-mails from outlook express as well as all my e-mail contacts ????
2 - I can get to Excel & Word by trying to execute from a short-cut or clicking on a XLS or DOC file. The system then prepares to install Excel or Word. If I cancel the prepare it then opens Word or Excel and then I have to open the file I want to look
    at.

You don't mention what operating system you are using, but don't fret, your files would be located under the old profile name.  For example, for XP you would look under:
    C:\Documents and Settings
Under this folder you should see two profiles that start with the same username.  One is the one that got corrupt and the other is the one the OS made up when it couldn't load the previous.
The easiest method to find out which is which is to start the OS and logon normally.  Start a command prompt window (e.g. Start | Run | CMD.EXE | OK button.  This will drop you into the active user profile
(e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\Steve.PC01").  At this point I would know that "Steve.PC01" is the new/good profile that doesn't have the settings, files, .etc that you are after and "Steve" would.
To help a bit more, Microsoft Outlook uses .PST and .PAB* files for mail, calendar, tasks, contacts, .etc.  You could copy these out to a new folder at the root of "C" (e.g. C:\UserData) and then configure you
Outlook profile to use these files.
Lets see, I have used Outlook Express in a very long time, but I used to refer people to
http://www.oehelp.com/.  There is some good information on how to lift, move, back/restore Outlook Express data.  You should be able to coble something together from this where you simple copy the entire Outlook
Express store to a new location and then point Outlook Express under the new OS profile to this location.
Other than that, why aren't you letting Excel/Word complete the install/repair cycle?  If you let it complete, it shouldn't come up each time you start the programs.  If it does, then something else is wrong
that has to be looked at.
    * PAB might not exist as Contacts can be stored in the PST.

  • Unable to send out emails via outlook express since 06/29/2010

Task '[email protected]" - Sending' reported error (0x80042109) : 'Outlook is unable to connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'        This is a copy/paste of error message from Office Outlook  2003
Our household has been unable to "send" outgoing emails since 06/29/2010.  This includes a wireless laptop and a PC. We both lost the ability to send emails same day.  We changed NOTHING and did not share emails with each other that would have corrupted our system. During this time I have had 2 Verizon techs dance around in the PC doing all the same things I did as well as what  the automated assistant did.  The last tech said the Outlook Express 6.0 was corrupted, and to unistall it and then reinstall;  this time 2 hours later, I think he just gave up).  That did not work either.  I tried using the Outlook Office and still got an error message for outging. Everything is set up as it was when it was working until 06/29/2010.  I was told that there was a new server being installed and that things wold be working by 07/02/2010... I have tried taking down the firewall, turning off virus protection (McAfee), changing from outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net to just outgoing.verizon.net, checking boxes, unchecked boxes. SMPT is set to 587.  We get incoming fine.  I hate using the "Verizon email site" as too much monkey motion to get to mail, but that's what we have been doing.  I even tried setting up a GMail account, again got mail still could not send.  Any ideas?

Thank you for your response!  I even tried sending an email via dos prompt  with Telnet, got past "HELO", but when trying to get a  "RCPT TO"  (using outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net)  I got an "authorization required" response and then was dropped.  I have been passed around without a solution. I am about ready to change ISP, but really hate to as most of the time (years now) this has been a decent ISP. If Verizon is having a problem just say so, I can handle it, honesty would be nice, refreshing and not wasting so much of my time as well as the techs!

  • Problem syncing Nokia 6301 with Outlook Express

I'm using bluetooth. The connection is fine - everythink works EXCEPT when I try to sync contacts between outlook express and the phone, zero contacts are synced. There are no error messages.
All other functions work -- able to back up and transfer photos, etc. I tried every setting imaginable, and no luck
Of course the most important thing that I need is contacts backed up...
    Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have my contacts in SIM and phone memory, the SIM is for "safekeeping". I make backup to memory card and PC with PC Suite and in addition I have contacts in SIM, I have lost some years ago my contacts and I don't want to there again.
I don't see dublicates because I have chosen that only visible memory is phone memory.
There seems in your setup that something remains "hanging" after sync and the sync does not happen.
I don't think you need to boot the PC, you can try to "untick" the connection methos you are using after sync in PC Suite -Manage connections. Then "retick" it and you are most likely able to sync again.
AND BTW, your phone model is such that it propably won't let you sync until you have "ok"ed the sync window in phone screen.
I am sure booting PC is not the only way to remedy the situation.Message Edited by manta on 07-Nov-2006

  • 8830 & Desktop Manager does not recognize Outlook Express 2000, cannot sync

I just installed Desktop Manager 5.0 and connected to my BB 8830.  I use Outlook Express 2000 for calendar and I want to sync it with my BB 8330.  However, in Desktop Manager under Sync / Config / Select Device for calendar, the only choices are Yahoo and Import/Export Text.  Obviously it is not recognizing Outlook Express 2000 as a calendar program.  Does anyone have a solution?
I bought this 8830 mainly to sync its calendar with my Outlook Express calendar.  If it does not work, then I am going to return it to my cell phone carrier.
    Solved!

Hi and welcome to the forums!
Outlook 2000 has not been supported since Desktop Manager 4.2.
KB14763 Unable to select Microsoft Outlook 2000 from the list of applications for synchronization
I would check on Outlook 2003, still supported by MS and the cheapest version still available.
    Thanks,

  • HUGE Outlook Express database problems!

I had a hard drive failure. The problem is that my Outlook Express Identities folder was stored there. I recovered the Identities folder using Data Rescue and I discovered that the file called "database" is truncated.
I can do a rebuild of the database but then all several thousand emails are missing. After some trial and error, I confirmed that it is the database file that is screwed.
I can use a backup file from 10 months ago but then the last 10 months of emails are missing.
    Database - 70 MB
    Database Cache - 20 KB
    Messages - 750 MB
I think everything I want is in the larger Messages file even though I also see messages inside the Database file. (I'll never understand the MS programming philosophy)
Are there any Mac utilities that will extract the emails from these database files?
What about my damaged database file? Since it's truncated, is there anything I can splice to the end of it to fool Outlook Express into properly rebuilding it?
Can these be transferred to a PC and then repaired using one of the dozens of Winbloze utilities available for database repair and then converted back?? If so, how?
I'm stumped and I'm hoping anyone here can help.
    Thank-you.

I never had a problem with OE, but it uses the same
MS programming philosophy as entourage, where I do
know you can't get out of a truncated databse…
Sorry, and if the automatic Rebuild routines won't
    fix it, it's just gone.
    Not quite...
I was able to recover about 99.9999% of the 28,000 "lost" emails using a neat little utility called "Emailchemy".
It scours nearly any email database file in almost any condition, pulls out the messages, and then saves them ALL to a generic mbox file that ANY email program can read. It also preserves the attachments!
FYI- For Outlook Express in OS 9, the file called "Database" contains all the outgoing emails and attachments. The file called "Messages" contains all the incoming emails and attachments.
I just ran Emailchemy on both of them and imported two mbox file into Entourage for OS X. That created two folders, each containing all the messages PLUS attachments from each of the two files.
In Entourage for OS X, ALL incoming and outgoing emails plus attachments are stored in the file called "Database". For this program, there's no such thing as "Messages" file.
So anyone reading this, DO NOT delete your corrupted Microsoft email database files, lock them, back them up, and do NOT give up hope. Even if you couldn't extract the information, you can still open the file in a text editor and see your messages inside (minus the attachments, of course). As horrific as this process may sound, at least you can search for something specific if needed.
