Lost file on Soundbooth CS4 Crash

Question

I just finished editing a file after working on it all day in Soundbooth. I did periodic saves throughout, but as I was saving it for the last time, Soundbooth crashed.
There are now three files showing in the Finder (I'm using a Mac):
1) The original file, with a size of 141.6MB
2) A copy of the file (with a _1 suffix), showing a size of 135.5MB which I did not create
3) A new file with the same name and a .xmp file extension, sized just 60K.
When I open either of the first two files in Soundbooth or in an audio player (iTunes or Quicktime) they have a length of zero - no content. The third file doesn't open, and I understand is an Adobe Metadata file.
Because the file sizes are large (and the files take time to copy) my guess is that the data is there but that Soundbooth has corrupted header parameters that describe the file length.

Wow, this was asked in 2009 and no answer? I have the same problems using it now with Windows 7. No help out there??
