Lost files - can I get them off my published website?

I managed to delete everything when I installed Leopard yesterday. This includes the files I had on iweb that created my web page. My web page is still live - is there anyway I can download the files back on to my computer or will I lose everything?
thanks

to rebuild your lost site you can at least follow this http://alyeska.altervista.org/en/iWebRetrieveWebsite.html as it will lessen the time you need to rebuild it, so follow what this link has to say, then once you publish and all looks good, make sure to make a backup copy of the domain file....!

I saved photos from an e-mail to my desktop as well as I-photos. Now I can't get them off the desktop. How can i do that?

    Hello Sungal15,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
To remove items from your computer, all you need to do is simply click and drag them to the Trash on your dock.
Delete an item from your Mac
Drag the item to the Trash. Or select the item, then press Command (⌘)–Delete.
Click the Trash, then click Empty. You can also choose Finder > Empty Trash.
When you see a warning message, click OK.

  • HT4914 Once I deleted my music files can I get them back via I cloud? I have Itunes match on.

Once I deleted my music files can I get them back via I cloud? I have Itunes match on.

I actually deleted my backup :-) That's the problem. But thanks.
I've managed to get some back but via a slightly different method.
Because the files weren't there, when I deleted them from my library they actually disappeared from the list.... So I created a new library (backed up my original one) and then synched that with Match so that all the files appeared. I'm just going through the ones I'm missing clicking 'download' and then when they're all back on my hard drive I'll revert to the previous Library which will hopefully pick up all of the recovered files.
    Bingo!

  • Hi guys i update my IPOd 4G with the new iOS5 .I made a Backup and I load it but all my Photos are lost how can I get them back ??? thx for Help

    HI guys
    I need help.
I load the new iOS5 and I made an Backup and I load it too,but all my Photos are lost HOw can I get them Back ???
    thx for help !!!!!

Which photos? If the missing photos were synced to the iPod then you have to get them from where you got them the first time. Synced photos are not in the backup that iTunes makes.

  • While upgrading to ios7 I think I restored to factory settings and my photos are lost how can I get them again? They weren't all backed up

Hi, I was upgrading my phone to 7 and I think I reset settings to factory which I have lost all my photos and my notes. I hadn't backed up for a while so I can't get these off my computer. Please let me know if there is something I can do to get the photos back? I didn't delete them.

You may not be able to get them back. I had that problem as well but I had backup. Unfortunately, my backup was corrupted so I was not able to transfer the backup data to my iPhone. Practically all the data on your phone is erased after resetting so if you don't have backup, you can't get the stuff back.

  • Lost files, can't find them but they're there!

all my files have disappeared from my powerbook g4 but the memory use implies they're still there
on pcs in the past it's been possible to turn the clock back so to speak and restore the computer to it's state at a previous date, ie you mess something up bad but just tell the computer to pretend it's yesterday and it resets to it's status then
anyone know if there's a similar function on the powerbook g4 or os x 10.3.9? or even any other way i might retrieve the data. i would have just written it off as lost but the memory status suggests the information is still there
any help will be greatly appreciated

Try "Data Rescue II" in trial mode and see if it sees your files. If it does, assess whether saving those files is crucial or whether you can live without it.
The software is $99 and is available as an instant download and you can get up and running right away. You can also get it via mail order (I think downloading costs less, since no box or disc), and also at the Apple Store and other Mac software resellers.
It saved my behind after I had a disk go "bad" due to a login/console issue. Best $99 I ever spent. I tried TechTool Deluxe to repair the drive first (which did more damage), and then DiskWarrior, the tried-and-true solution (and it couldn't do anything for me because of the damage TechTool Deluxe did), and with both not working... Mac OS X's Disk Utility couldn't do anything either... Data Rescue II got all my files.
Trouble is with this method, you can't just get started again. You have to reinstall the OS, all your apps, etc. Using TechTool Deluxe or DiskWarrior is supposed to fix the directory issues and let you get up and running like normal. Which I had hoped for, but it didn't happen that way.
So, rescuing the data was the best route, since the only solution for my problem was to reformat the drive and reinstall everything. And without Data Rescue, my files and everything would have gone with it.

  • Got a new nano, and it synced all music of my daughters music.  can i get them off my nano

I received a new nano and when I plugged it in, all of my daughter's music synced.  Can I get rid of all that music from my nano?

Are you two using the same iTunes library?
How you delete content from your iPod depends on how it is set up to receive content from your iTunes library whether that be via automatic syncing or manual management.
For automatic syncing, you must reconfigure your settings so that the album/tracks/content you wish to remove is no longer configured to sync to your iPod.  For example, if the Sync only checked songs and videos option is enabled from under the iPod's Summary tab, make sure all the tracks for this album do NOT have a tick mark next to them in your iPod.  Then resync your iPod with iTunes.
If that isn't the case, you'll want to look at the iPod's Music configuration tab.  You can access this tab by selecting your iPod under Devices. This should bring you to theSummary tab over to the right.  Look for the Music tab along the top and select it.  Here you can configure how and what music syncs to your device.  If you make any changes to this tab, be sure to hit the Apply button in the lower right hand corner to sync the updated changes to your device.
Otherwise, if you manually manage your iPod's contents, you must manually remove content from it.  You can do this by plugging your iPod in and clicking the small black triangle next to your iPod from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes.  This will open up a submenu of content that is indented underneath the name of your device, so go ahead and click on Music (or whatever content you are wanting to remove).  Locate the track or tracks/content you wish to delete. Highlight them and hit the Delete key or choose Edit -> Delete.
Otherwise, if you are using different iTunes library, simple connect it to your own iTunes library and restore it to factory settings.  To do this, select your iPod under Devices in the left hand pane of iTunes and click the Restore button that appears to the right under the iPod's Summary tab.

  • Lost messages - can I get them back?

I had an inbox with 300 or so messages from the last 6 months, plus attachments. Then, shortly after upgrading to Snow Leopard, Mail stopped sending stuff (seemed not to like talking to the smtp server), so I fiddled around and created a second account to see if that would work. In the event I disabled SSL on the first account and that solved the problem.
Then I removed the second account. I thought the warning about losing mailboxes would not apply because nothing had come in through this account for the short time it was enabled. How wrong I was: all the mail content (but not the headers) in my Inbox and Sent box disappeared.
I followed the Apple advice, which is to use mailbox>rebuild. I did this in both Inbox and Sent box - and hey presto, all the headers vanished too. So I had nothing but the last two days of email left. Fortunately, all my other mailboxes are OK.
    I need to know:
Do the disappeared messages from my Inbox, and their attachments, all exist somewhere on my Mac even though I can't see them (I have searched the Library)?
Is there any utility out there that might help me to find them?
And what happens to attachments in Mail nowadays, when there seems to be no separate Attachments folder?

all the mail content (but not the headers) in my Inbox and Sent box disappeared.
Setting up the same account twice in Mail is probably what got you into trouble. I suspect Mail simply removed all mailboxes associated with that account without checking to see whether they belonged to the original or the dupe.
Do the disappeared messages from my Inbox, and their attachments, all exist somewhere on my Mac even though I can't see them (I have searched the Library)?
Very unlikely. Try looking in the ~/Library/Mail/ folder (where '~' means "your user folder). See if there are any mailboxes still there that might be appropriate, and try duplicating them to the desktop and then import them into a new mailbox. That's unlikely to work, but you never know.
Is there any utility out there that might help me to find them?
If they're really gone, no. If you have backups, you can restore them from the backup, of course. But without backups, the best you'll be able to do is try a data recovery tool, which is unlikely to give very good results in this case, but would be worth a try if there's no other option.
And what happens to attachments in Mail nowadays, when there seems to be no separate Attachments folder?
Attachments are stored with the message, just like they are sent across the internet as part of the message. They are not automatically decoded and saved as individual files somewhere. That happens when you either open them or tell Mail to save them somewhere.

  • Purchased songs lost.  Can I get them back?

    Hi all,
My hard disk crashed. My entire music library is gone. I didn't back up (bad move). Now I wonder if I can pick up some pieces.
I purchased some songs at the iTunes Store. Can I get those songs back? And how?
Thanks in advance to all generous souls.

    iPod nano   Windows XP Pro

Another possible option is to run disk data recovery utilities on the old hard drive to try to recover the music song files, as they are just data files to the computer.
You could install the drive internally to the PC on another drive cable, or externally via a USB or Firewire powered case, then run the disk recovery utilities. There are several free tools - one simple free tool is Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File Recovery - at www.recuva.com. And several commercial products you could buy. O&O software is one such vendor for windows, at www.oo-software.com. Or Prosoft Engineering, at www.prosofteng.com has both windows and mac data recovery tools.
And other similar software also out there.
Most offer a trial scan mode to let you see if the data you want can be recovered - then you would buy the product to get the recovery mode enabled.
Note the tools usually take hours to scan and recover.
I would say that it would be worth investing at least a bit of time (and $) to investigate data recovery from the old drive. As long as it spins up, one of those recovery tools may be able to get your song, and other data back.
Or, there are services that can recover data from crashed hard drives, but the service is very expensive (hundreds to thousands of dollars, depending on who, and how much data).

  • Main Computer died. Lost Apps can I get them back?

My main Computer Died with all of my music and apps on it. So I downloaded it iTunes into another computer, connected my phone and for some reason I did an unintentional restore and I lost everything. I was wondering if there was a way to get itunes to re-install all of my apps at once or I would have to install them one by one.
    Thank you for your help,
    -Cristian

This is why backing up your library to a CD or DVD or external drive of some sort is important.
If your library and apps aren't located on any device or library, you will have to re-download it all. You can check your purchase history for apps you have downloaded (which you can always re-download free of charge), but there is no way to download them all at once.

  • Library books downloading to wrong file, can't get them onto computer

After happily using ADE to load library books onto my computer for 2 years, I went and screwed it up.  I didn't have a shorcut to ADE on my desktop - the only way I was able to access it was to open Adobe Reader and then through the Adobe Reader "Help" menu, I could get to ADE.  Well, I got tired of doing that, so I played around with things and found a way to pull out ADE and make a separate icon on my desktop & start menu.  I thought everything was fine until the next time I tried to take out a library book.  Suddenly when I went to download the book, I got an error message & I noticed that the file name where the book was trying to load to had changed from "adobe digital editions" to something odd, like "ACS" plus some more stuff.  And it didn't give me the option to change it to anything else though a drow down menu or by browsing my files or anything.  I'm still able to get into ADE & use it for the books I already have downloaded, just can't download anything new.
Is there any way for me to manually change it back to the correct file name?  Is it possible for me to fix this without uninstalling & reinstalling ADE?  If I must uninstall, is it possible for anyone to give me very detailed, step-by-step instructions, as I'm okay with the basics on computers, but not so good with stuff like this.  I'm on Windows XP.  Thanks so much for any help you can offer!

Try just reinstalling it, without uninstalling, and see if that helps.  It shouldn't upset your old books and settings.
As you are on XP, I suggest the slightly older v1.7.2.  (Actually, the new version has so many bugs I suggest the older one for everyone.)
    Download it from http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-editions/kb/cant-install-digital-editions/_jcr_content/main -pars/procedure_2/proc_par/step_0/step_par/download/file.res/digitaleditions.exe
(see Adobe page  http://helpx.adobe.com/digital-editions/kb/cant-install-digital-editions.html for more details).
Click the downloaded file in your browser (or double click as appropriate for the particular browser) to start the install.
It will ask a few questions, just take all the easy answers.
With luck, that will make the proper file association for .acsm files.
If it doesn't, there is a chance that at least going through the rigmarole you tried above will now work.
    Good luck ....

  • A tech uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox today. All my history, bookmarks, etc. were lost. Can I get them back?

In trying to help with another problem, a tech using off-site uninstalled firefox and then reinstalled. Now I find history, bookmarks, passwords all lost. Gmail doesn't know I have an account. What can I do?

That was one of the first things I tried, but because I closed Firefox the links were inactive. It has done this a few times since I posted this earlier today so I am wondering if there is an option somewhere for saving these. Also, I never had this problem before so it might have something to do with a recent update (maybe a new option?).

There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and clone playlists from your iPod. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for details.
