Lost files then recovered without proper names, reconnect without renaming?

I lost 18,000 files but was able to recover most of them however none of them have their original names so FCP has no idea what's going on. Is there anyway to reconnect through the files attributes such as time, size? anything that could save me reedting this work? Thanks

Any way to reimport or re-capture this footage so that you can get the proper names again? Why don't they have proper names that match?
You can try this software...

  • Drop dbf file and then recover - possible?

    We have to 'startup mount' our database and then
    1. alter database datafile ....12.dbf offline
    2. recover using backupcontrolfile until cancel.
    Can we do this on oracle 9.1.7

    Hi,
    I am not sure if I have understood the question.
    Here is my translation of my understanding:
    - you have dropped a datafile and do not have a backup, right?
    - you want to recover the lost datafile, right?
    My question now is:
    - how did you drop the file?
    1. did you remove it on OS level?
    2. did you drop the tablespace?
    Here the possible answers:
    => 1: if you "just" removed the file from the OS it is no problem to recreate it and recover it, under the condition that you have all the redologs archived or online which contain all the changes applied to the db since the creation of the lost datafile. Oracle will know the creation change number for the file and will be able to create a new one. It works like this:
    SQL > ALTER DATABASE CREATE DATAFILE '<name of your lost file>';
    SQL> RECOVER DATAFILE '<name of your lost file>' -- number of the file is also possible
    SQL > ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE '<name of your lost file> ONLINE;
    => 2: if you have dropped teh entire database by DROP TABLESPACE ... INCLUDING CONTENTES AND DATAFILES; it is a little more tricky. Now you first need a controlfile which still contains the talespace information, because the tablesapce has been removed from the controlfile with the drop stsatement. And you can only recover what is in the controlfile. So you need a backup of the old controlfile, either a binary controlfile backup or a backup from a trace controlfile backup.
    In this case you must shutdown the db and startup with a backup controlfile. You must restore the entire db from backup and recover incomplete, which means loss of data!
    You must recover the whole db to a point in time short before the drop tablespace. YOu can find the timestamp for the drop tablespace in the alertSID.log file.
    The first thing you do is to take a full backup of the entire db including redologs and controlfile, just in case you make a mistake in order to be able to get back to where you started!!!
    Then resore db from backup.
    Then:
    SQL> RECOVER DATABASE UNTIL TIME <timestamp> USING BACKUP CONTROLFILE;
    Then you must open teh database with RESETLOGS:
    SQL> ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS;
    The next thing you do is check if you met the point in time you wanted and then TAKE A NEW BACKUP OF THE ENTIRE DATABASE, because you do not have ya valid backup any more now. It is a new database you have, at least a new incarnation.
    Let me know if this was helpfull or if I have completely misunderstood your question.
    Good luck,
    Lutz

  • How do I to recover lost files on the iPhone 4 due to a restore?

    This past weekend, my iphone 4 suddenly stop sending and recieveing calls then wouldn't do anything until I restore it on itunes.  So I restored it but since my phone hasen't been synced recently, I lost several songs and apps that I paid for and several photos/videos too.  I really don't want to have to purchase those apps and songs again.  So, if it is possible to recover those files and whoever knows how to do it; please respond to this as soon as possible.

    1.  (You KNOW what's coming)  NEVER restore or update any device without backing up/syncing first.
    2. You can re-download virtually all apps without paying again.
    3. SOL for music/media from iTunes - you'll have to pay again.
    4. Photos and any other data/files on the phone which were lost cannot be recovered.  There are no data recovery methods for iPhones.

    how do i recover lost files and documents?

    Way 1. Recover Deleted Text Messages on iPhone with Backups
    1) Recover lost files on iPhone from iTunes Backup
    As you know, every time you sync your iPhone with iTunes, it will automatically make a backup of your iPhone contents including photos, SMS, reminders, contacts and more. Step 1. Launch iTunes and connect your iPhone to your computer. Step 2. Choose "Recover form Backup" option. Step 3. Select a backup you need. If you don't know which one to choose, you'd better choose the latest backup. Step 4. Click "Start Scan". Step 5. Preview contents in details and select lost files you need. Step 6. Click "Recover".
    2) Recover Deleted documents on iPhone from iCloud Backup
    You should make sure that you have backup in iCloud before recovery. Go to Settings < iCloud. Log in to your Apple ID and toggle the Contacts switch from ON to OFF. Then turn it ON and choose Merge on the pop-up message. Then all contacts in the iCloud backup are back to your iPhone 4S.
    Way 2. Recover Deleted files on iPhone without Backups
    While if you don’t have any backup files in iTunes or iCloud, the unique way is to recover with iPhone Data Recovery. Step 1. Connect your iPhone to the computer and Run the software. Step 2. Click "Start Scan" > Scan data on your iPhone quickly. Step 3. Preview and select lost files you need. Step 4. Click "Recover" to recover them.

    I recently updated the iOS on my ipad 3 and lost all my files in the process. How do I recover my lost files which were not previously backed up?

    If you don't have them backed up somewhere, then there's little possibility of recovering them. There are some utilities that can in some cases recover an inadvertently-deleted photo, but I've found none that can recover photos or other data from an iPad that was erased as part of an iOS upgrade. You can do a web search for something like "iPhone photo recovery" and you'll find some utilities you can try.

  • My challenge: recovering original iWeb files from 2010-2011 timeframe, which included a blog consisting of original postings from me and comments posted to the web from family and friends. I have the web archive files - but did not move iWeb files then.

    Background:  I started this blog while living overseas and going to sea with the Navy.  Missed the opportunity to move the iWeb files with content attached from the mobile.me server to another server.  Now, I have the original web archive files - good - but not the comments added to them by family and friends - bad.
    My ultimate objective is to create a hard-cover bound book of these files with the comments on the blog ... they document a rather significant experience in my family's life ... to do this, I need to recover the original files with postings.
    Any thoughts or insight would be sincerely appreciated!
    Thanks, cfwnavy

    You have replied to a post that is a month old now and the OP has never replied, so you are probably wasting your time here.
    If you read the OP's post and my reply, you will see that he will not be able to recover his blog and neither will you.
    If your Mac was stolen and you did not back up your iWeb domain.sites files, then you CANNOT get your blog back.
    If you published your site to a host/server, then you can download it back onto your Mac and you will have to re-build your blog/website from scratch and re-publish, but all your replies and responses to posts will be lost and you can never get these back.
    My advice would be to re-create your blog in another format such as WordPress.com which is free and don't use iWeb again.
    There are plenty of alternatives out there.

  • Set file name as a variable. Then use it to name a folder

    I'm making a workflow that I want to get the selected file, then create a new folder using that file's name. I made a workflow as follows:
    Get selected Finder Item (In this case a JPG image)
    Set Value of Variable
    New Folder (dragging the variable from 'Set Value of Variable')
    But running this workflow it adds the path of the file to the new folders name, as well as the file's name (e.g. instead of the folder being called 'Photo1' it's called '/Users/Jono/Desktop/Photo1.jpg').
    Does anybody know how I could get it to just the file name (preferably without the extension) instead of prefixing it with the path?

    The New Folder action uses the specified text for the file name. The following Run AppleScript action will return just the names of the Finder Items passed to it:
    <pre style="
    font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;
    font-size: 10px;
    margin: 0px;
    padding: 5px;
    border: 1px solid #000000;
    width: 720px;
    color: #000000;
    background-color: #FFDDFF;
    overflow: auto;"
    title="this text can be pasted into an Automator 'Run AppleScript' action">
    on run {input, parameters}
    get a name from a file path
    input: a list of Finder Items (aliases)
    output: a list of names
    set output to {}
    repeat with AnItem in the input -- step through each item in the input
    set {name:TheName, name extension:TheExtension} to (info for AnItem)
    if TheExtension is missing value then set TheExtension to ""
    set end of output to (text 1 thru -((count TheExtension) + 2) of TheName) -- just the name part
    end repeat
    return the output -- pass the result(s) to the next action
    end run
    </pre>

  • Recovering lost files

    My hard drive had to be replaced and so I lost everything on my computer. Now, when they replaced my hard drive they upgraded me from OS Tiger to Leopard but the issue is that whatever they did made it so my user account name and password didn't work so I could not upgrade the software. So Apple had me reinstall the OS. So now I'm back with Tiger and I had previously regained about four months worth of files plus some extras but the reinstall erased them and I wasn't told that. Is there a way to recover my lost files?

    You'd need to contact a data recovery service such as OnTrack or Portlock.

    How to Recover an Excel File for Free
    Check the Recycle Bin--if you've accidentally deleted the file, it should still be there unless you've emptied the bin, and you can click on the file and
    recover it.
    Use the Auto Recovery Pane when you open Excel. Review the document recovery pane. If Excel has managed to recover your file, it will show in a separate
    pane on the left-hand side. Identify your document in the pane, then click on it and choose "Open" to open the recovered file.
    Try manually repairing the file. Click on "File" in Excel 2003 or the "Office" button in
    Excel 2007, then select "Open" and click on the arrow next to the "Open" button. Click on
    "Open and Repair" and choose from two options: click on "Repair" if you want to try to completely recover the file, or click on "Extract
    Data" if you previously tried Step 1 and it did not work.
    Search for the file manually on your computer. When performing a system search (click "Start" and select "Search" in Windows XP and
    Windows 2000, or press the "Windows" button and "F" key in Windows 7 and Vista), make sure you choose "Advanced Search Options" and then check the "System and hidden files" check box. You may be able to find your missing
    or corrupted file using this search: double-click on the file name in the search results to open it.

  • Soundbooth "generic error", recover lost files, huge file lost, how can I recover them?

    Hello, I am using Soundbooth CS5 on Windows 7.  I have been editing this .asnd file for some time. I have been saving and editing and saving and opening each day.  However, today, I went to open it, and got "generic error".  The entire file will not open.  Also, when I checked on its properties, it said it was only 2kb, where in fact it was huge with multiple other files in it.  Those files, by the way? They are all missing too.  It isn;t a virus.  I opened the file in the morning, it was fine, did work, saved it, never turned off the computer, came back later, opened it again to do work, then it gave me the error.  Plus, all of the subfiles disappeared as well.
    How can I recover these lost files, because I dilligently save. Where would they be stored? How can I find them?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Unfortunately, iCloud notes are not included in backups, because they are synced between devices, this means you won't be able to restore them.

    No, I already tried looking at that. The file that recovered was not in the trash, it appeared in my documents folder. I opened it up and inside was an iText Express document with coding. Then inside of there, was and then and this "SoftwareMap" document contained a bunch of coding and symbols and words.

  • Hi, I've lost all song data ( besides song name) on 1,100 WAV files. Does anyone know an app or fix that can identify Album & Artist (& maybe album art) on these files? Thanks

    Hi, I've lost all song data ( besides song name) on 1,100 WAV files. Does anyone know an app or fix that can identify Album & Artist (& maybe album art) on these files? Thanks
    Dermot

    Hi John,
    A major drawback with using wav for storage is that it doesn't carry a tag. This means that in the event of a corrupted library the only information remaining is the filename. Other data may be stored in the path but iTunes doesn't know how to get it. I understand that you need this format for your workflow with Diamond Cut, but that makes it all the more important that you backup your iTunes database on a regular basis.
    Provided that you still have the tracks in their artist and album folders and haven't let iTunes "reorganise" them you should be able to restore some useful metadata using my script TagFromFilename. The script reads the path and filename, and provided these are in the normal layout of <Path>\<Artist>\<Album>\## <Name>.<Ext> can restore Artist, Album Artist, Track Name and Track Number. If your files have a different but predicatable layout with the same information, e.g. the data is all in the filename, then I could create a suitable version of the script to get the data into iTunes. I recommend you disable both the Keep... and Copy... options in iTunes advanced preferences before adding files to the iTunes database. Ideally you also want a complete backup of your correctly structured folders in case you need to pull copies back from it.
    As stated earlier, uninstalling iTunes before the upgrade wouldn't have helped. The crucial thing before any upgrade is to backup all user data from the drive that will be wiped. Typically the iTunes database lives in C:\Users\<User>\Music\iTunes on Vista or Windows 7. The crucial file is called iTunes Library.itl. You seem fairly certain that you don't have a backup database that you could restore but an exhaustive search of your hard drive for files of the form *.itl might still be worth doing. If you find any apart from the active library we can discuss how you open them to see if they are useful.

  • Recovering Lost Files/Folders

    As recently as last week I managed to notice that a folder filled with pictures of my dog had gone missing from my laptop. Does anyone know how to recover these lost files? I am a college student living away from home and these pictures are all I have of my dog while I am away...

    Hi, mccaughkm. FileSalvage has no way of producing a preview of any photo it doesn't find on your hard drive, so if it shows you a preview of a file, that file exists. It is perfectly possible that you might recover photos that have been "gone" for months and not ones that you trashed an hour ago; what gets overwritten in what order is entirely up to the OS. It may have overwritten the very last file you deleted and not overwritten things you trashed months or even years ago — its logic is its own, and not subject to your control.
    Based on what you say you did, I don't know what happened to your folder of pictures. If you've verified (by using the Find command in the File menu of the Finder) that the folder and the pictures in it are really missing, and not just moved to a new location, then perhaps suspicion will have to fall on the program that was using them. One of the possible hazards of using toyware like MozoDojo, especially when it's free, is that the software developer may have ignored Apple's user-interface guidelines, and may have designed the program to work in nonstandard and unexpected ways. I have no idea whether that's true of MozoDojo in particular, but if you really did nothing yourself to delete the folder, maybe MozoDojo did. It's hard to imagine why anyone would design an application to do that, since it would be sure to outrage a significant number of its users by doing so. Frankly, I think it's more likely that you yourself did something unintended. But whatever the cause, you need to focus now on the available means of getting back whatever pictures may be recoverable, rather than trying to figure out why they're gone.
