Lost Final Cut Pro Installation Disc

Is there a way to get a replacement disc for Final Cut Pro 5 Academic. I lost mine and have looked hard and can't find it. OR Is there an e-mail for a support team person to Final Cut Pro so I can contact them? Please either answer one/both of the questions.
  Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I beleive the answer is No to both.
It's kind of like losing your car ... you may still have the keys but that won't get you far, and the manufacturer is unlikely to send you a replacement.
... ok, its not really like that at all but I think you catch my drift

  • Final Cut Pro Installation Woes

I hope this is the correct forum for this question. I have today received my Final Cut Studio upgrade via the Apple Universal Binary programme. When I try to install the upgrade I get an error message claiming I don't have enough privilages to perform this installation. It then installs the software but when I try to run any of the programs my Mac asks for the serial number and again claims I do not have the correct privilages. I am the administrator on my system (indeed the only user) and I have repaired permissions using disk utility - but this has not corrected the problem.
    Can anyone help?

    The same here...
I just deleted some preference and support files, following as a guideline the following article from Apple on how to unistall Final Cut Express (could not find anything about Final Cut Pro):

and now all apps in Final Cut Studio work properly...

  • How do I recover a lost Final Cut Pro X file?

Help!  I was just working on a huge project Final Cut Pro when the computer completely froze, no spinning ball of death or anything.  I'd already had one crash earlier, but that was just the typical "(Not Responding)" you might get when working on an entry level computer.  On complete freeze crash, I couldn't get the computer to show any signs of response, so I finally hard reset it.  I have an external screen running, and my projects are on an external hard drive.  When I opened the computer and Final Cut Pro, my event was there, but there is no project to be seen.  I can't find it anywhere.  I've spent somewhere around 4 hours on this at the least, and hope I don't have to start the whole thing over, since I have a deadline.  Is there any way to recover it?  I looked at the other discussions, but I don't know where I would find the project file on my computer.  I'm running Final Cut Pro X 10.2.2.

Never mind, I just figured it out.  The open library from backup was greyed out a minute ago, now it worked though, and I have my project back.  Whew!  Just go to file/open library/from backup.  You just have to have the library you want the backup of to be selected.

  • How do I find a Lost Final Cut Pro X Project

I have been working for months on a Project to turn old family home movies into an HD video.  Now, the project has disappeared and I cannot find it.  What might have happened?  And where might I find this project?  I would HATE to have lost all of that work.

Depending on the version of FCP X you are using, the project etc. should be in the Final Cut Projects/Final Cut Events folders or in a special Final Cut  Library.
All these items should be on your HDD.
Just realised you are on ML, so your poject should be in the projects and events folders mentioned.

  • Lost Final Cut Pro Disc - Have Serial Number - What to do?

We have FCP Studio 5.1 and we have our serial number and all proof of purchase etc. We got a new computer and somehow have lost the discs. Is there a place to get, purchase, or download just the software and then we can enter our serial number to activate it and register it. Thanks.

Contact Apple at its main number with your proof of purchase.
Also, file a claim with your insurance company.
    Good luck.

  • HT1338 lost final cut pro 7 serial number

My FCP 7 keeps on asking me about my serial number. I've thrown that box a long time ago.
How can I retrieve the serial number?
Also, I don't want to move on to FCP x. Such a horrible interface and system.
I want my FCP 7 back please.
Is there a place where I can download it again.
There doesn't seem to be a download software or software available in the market anymore for FCP 7.

There is no way you can yourself recover the license key if you've lost it (and it would have been on the disk sleeve or a separate piece of paper, not on the box). FCP 7 isn't downloadable and even if it was it wouldn't come with the license key. If you can't find the paper with the key, you'll have to call Apple Support and ask them if there's any way they can generate a new key for you. At this point I would be surprised if they can, but you can ask and hope.
    Good luck.

  • Lost Final cut pro???

I have worked on FCP for the last few weeks... today I was trying to change something in the user preferences, time options and pressed the return key instead of Ok... FCP disappeared and now does not want to open again...

You might want to try trashing FCP's preferences to set everything back to default, but first try a reboot.

  • How do I uninstall Final Cut Pro 5 Suite?

I've never actually tried to uninstall this suite, so I may be overlooking something obvious. I tried opening the install package and looking for an option there, but no luck - and the document on Apple's site that should instruct me on how to do this seems to be missing.
    Does anyone have any tips?

one of the support articles includes these notes:
Another approach you might consider is reinstalling Final Cut Pro. To do this effectively, you need to remove the application and its receipts, then install Final Cut Pro and use Software Update to install additional updates. You don't have to remove everything that was installed with Final Cut Pro. Follow the steps below to completely reinstall a fresh copy of Final Cut Pro. Note: Make sure that you have your installation discs and serial number handy before starting this.
    Open the Applications folder.
Drag the Final Cut Pro application to the Trash.
    Go to /Library/Receipts.
In the Receipts folder, select the "FinalCutPro.pkg" file.
Choose View > as List to view the contents in a list.
Click the Date Modified column header so you can easily see all of the receipts that were installed at the same time as Final Cut Pro.
Drag the FinalCutPro.pkg receipt to the Trash, as well as any other items that have the same modification date within 3 minutes of the FinalCutPro.pkg's modification date.
Click the Name column header to sort the list alphabetically.
Drag any other receipts whose names begin with "Final Cut Pro" to the Trash.
Insert your Final Cut Pro installation disc and install Final Cut Pro.
When finished, use Software Update (under the Apple menu) to update your software to the latest version.
For further information on settings or installation, please refer to the Final Cut Pro documentation available on your installation discs.
    Hope that helps

  • HT5149 Hi, I still have problems reinstalling Final Cut Pro even though I followed these steps. Didn´t find "com.apple.motionapp.plist" to remove though, but the others I found. Reason why I have to reinstall is because I have repaired my Macbook Pro hard

Hi, I still have problems reinstalling Final Cut Pro even though I followed these steps.
Reason why I have to reinstall is because I have repaired my Macbook Pro hard drive at a Mac Authorized Repair.
Short history of repair and my Final Cut Pro installation:
    1. Macbook Pro stopped working, sendt it for repair. Had the Final Cut Pro installed,
    2. Desided to try a MiniMac and recovered my backup with Time Machine, got the Final Cut Pro working.
    3. Got my Macbook Pro back from repair, did backup on this one as well. But this time only the files not the Applications.
    4. Removed the files as mentioned in HT5149. Didn´t find "com.apple.motionapp.plist" to remove though, but the others I found.
    5. When I try to install Final Cut Pro from App Store, it downloads the application as planned. But after download it won´t show in the Application folder nor in the downloads folder, nor will it start an installation prosess. If I pause the installation in App Store, I can see the Final Cut Pro icon in my Dock. (But, as mentioned, after installation it won´t show neither here or in the Applications folder).
Any suggestions on what I should try now?
Thanks for any reply, I´m in deep water here...

Sounds like there is a file you're not getting.  Never do a removal manually.  It's so time consuming and a pain.  There's a very easy and fast way to do this, safely, properly.
Get the free "Final Cut Remover" app from Digital Rebellion (dot com), use this to remove FCP X.
    Reboot the Mac.
    Download from scratch.
If you're not seeing FCP X in your app folder, run Disk Utility to Repair all drives.
If that doesn't help, try running Disk Warrior from Altsoft to repair the directories on all drives.

  • HT1531 does final cut pro works for my mac book pro 4 gb ram i5 processors

why am not able to support power pc applications in mac

Babowa: Here is a recent post I made on this subject (responding to the oft mentioned claim on this forum that "installing Rosetta into Lion" would allow FCPS to be installed).
I would love it, if the OP (or you, perhaps, if you do not mind goting through the process again) could confirm the "Terminal Instruction"installation method:
It never made sense to me that (a) one could install Rosetta into Lion and get any results at all, let alone get an installer written in PPC code to run; or (b) if installing Rosetta into Lion worked for an installer written in PPC code, then why wouldn't an application written in PPC code work also?
    And the answer is...
Anytime an operating system is updated, there is a chance that some of your software will no longer function 100% correctly, until the publisher releases an update of that software for the newly updated operating system.  And that is what is going on here...
The Final Cut Pro installer is NOT written in PowerPC code!  There is some minor instruction in the installer that makes a call to the operating system in Lion, that Lion is incorrectly interpreting as being PPC code and hence giving the Dialog Box that says that it cannot run a PowerPC program.
This minor instruction is attempting to execute the following instruction in Terminal:
    $ sudo installer -package /Volumes/Final\ Cut\ Studio/Installer/FinalCutStudio.mpkg -target /
If you execute this instruction in Terminal sans Rosetta, the program will install perfectly!
Somehow, the "installation of Rosetta" into Lion, and perhaps Mountain Lion interferes just enough between the program and the operating system, to allow the program to make this call to Terminal and install the program.  Since this instruction will work in Terminal without Rosetta installed, it obviously has nothing to do with PowerPC code or Rosetta.
So the best advice would appear to be to use this instruction in Terminal and wait while the installation program completes all of its tasks with the concluding statement:
    installer: The install was successful.
This method avoids any pitfalls that may occur by installing Rosetta, which has no place in Lion or Mountain Lion and may be the cause of future problems!
Since I do not have Final Cut Pro, I cannot confirm this, but maybe I can borrow a copy somewhere soon...

  • Dvd burned from final cut pro hackes when viewed on Bose dvdplayer

When I burn a DVD from final cut pro x (disc creator) on my MAC book pro,(MAC IOS lion 10.7.5) it can be viewed on my computer without problems, but hackes when viewede on my Bose dvd player, even though it works fine with purchased dvds. What is the problem?

Brand of DVD media can cause this.  Not all DVD players will work with all self-burned DVDs.  They are flimsy soft plastic and prone to errors.  This is not an FCPX issue, but simply a self-burned DVD issue.  Try a different brand of DVD media.

  • Final Cut Pro - Long Install Process after clicking "buy" from Trial

I just clicked "Buy" on my FCP X trial version and now it has been installing for quite a long time.
Why does it do that? I have the most recent version of the trial version.
Or is the trial version a different software package that will be overwritten by the purchase?
I just want to avoid having suddenly two FCP X installations on my computer.

    Thanks, Ian.
I really had two Final Cut Pro installations of 10.1.3 on my hard drive, each 3.38 GB.
One was the trial, one the real thing.
When I clicked the symbol in the dock, the trial opened up and told me it was expired. So I dragged the symbol out, deleted the trial, and dragged the symbol of the real thing into the dock, and now it works.

  • How to redownload final cut pro on different computer without installation disc?

I purchased a laptop that has final cut pro on it but it didnt come with an installation disc or anything. I need to put my final cut pro on a different computer...What can I do?

Final Cut Pro X is an app from the Mac App Store. There is no installation disc.  Since you said it came pre-installed on your computer, I'm assuming that means you aren't able to go to the Purchased tab of the Mac App Store on a different computer to redownload it. Therefore, I would suggest using an external hard drive or FireWire or thunderbolt or USB connects, etc. to transfer the application between computers along with all the library files from the system library library and 'hidden library'
