Lost functionality between CS6 and CC2014

In CS6 if you were zoomed into a photo you could press the space-bar and C to zoom out and treat the window as if it were the navigator pallet... In CC 2014 this option seems to be gone. Is it just hidden or is it really gone and if it is gone where can i request that feature to be added back?

I don't think holding space and C work like a navigator for me in CS6, CC or CC 2014. However holding the "H" key and using the left mouse button work like a navigator on all three.

File Association conflict between CS6 and CC 2014

I have both CS6 and CC2014 loaded on my computer.
I want to use CS6 for file associations, but I am being prevented from doing so by CC2014 which pre-emts CS6 and blocks me from changing file associations for .jpg files etc. in Windows 7. How do I fix this?

Are you sure? I just had a quick look, and by taking the usual route or right clicking a JPG and choosing Open With > Choose Default program, I was able to browse to the pre 2014 version of Photoshop, and assign it. I don't have CS6 installed at the moment, but I can't think why it shouldn't work the same way.

Can I use a Photoshop CS6 guide book I got in college to learn CC, or is there too many differences between CS6 and CC?

I have a guide book I got in college to help me learn Photoshop CS6, but I never finished the class. My question is: Can I use this book to learn Photoshop CC or is there too much diversity between CS6 and CC?

Lost volumes between raidutil and diskutil

Suddently the Xserve (Xeon early 2008, 10.5.8) show the "?" at the boot.
I've set up an other OS X Server on an external drive.
None of the four volumes from the internal drives mount anymore.
I assume the server has restarted after a long power failure that outrun the UPS.
At first I thought the raid controller has failed BUT RAIDUtil shows every disks and volumes with the green OK dot.
DiskUtil or disk utilities don't show any of the raid5 volumes.
What happened to the volumes between RAIDUtil and Diskutil ?
Is there a "deep" command to make them back ?
PLease HELP !

How is the XMP workflow supposed to work between CS6 and LR4.1

Can somebody please enlighten me ?
I have a raw file in Lightroom, xmp files turned on.
I open the file as a smart object in Photoshop.
Back in Lightroom I do some edits, and to be sure, I save the edits back to the XMP.
Back in Photoshop, no matter what I try, my edits are not picked up. I tried opening the smart object etc...but ACR does not pick up the edits I just made in Lightroom (even when the XMP file is up to date).
If I resubmit the edited image from Lightroom, my edits are picked up, but this can't be the way it's supposed to work, can it ? What good is a smart object if you need to resubmit it each time...
Isn't the XMP workflow supposed to be seamless between adobe applications, picking up any edit, no matter where the edit is made (from acr to lightroom and vice versa) ?
I'm probably missing something, but would appreciate some help.

Taking a little distance and looking at it from that angle, I can understand why it works the way it does now.
Still, I feel there are some missed opportunities here.
Compared to working between indesign and photoshop, when I have an indesign layout and I later edit the placed photoshop document, Indesign gives me a warning that my version is changed and I can update it to reflect the latest state.
A similar thing could be done here inside photoshop "update to latest Lightroom edits" or something similar which could be totally optional for the end user to use or not.
My confusion was mostly caused by the XMP files, it stuck in my head that these were external files holding all knowledge and no matter which Adobe program you used, it would work with those same xmp files... but I understood wrong apparently.
I still have a lot to learn, thanks for all the answers, it is very helpfull.

What's the difference between CS6 and CC apps?

I am confused. I am running CS6 and having problems with Adobe Exchange in Illustrator - works fine in PS and INDD.
For some reason Illustrator cannot find an internet connection. Tried ALL of the prescribed troubleshooting but it's still broke. Is there any advantage to running CC versions of the apps?

iPad apps are designed specifically for the iPad and will not run on the iPhone or iPod Touch. iPhone/iPod apps will run on the iPad, but will only take up an iPhone sized portion of the iPad screen (though you get a 2x button which effectively doubles each pixel in both directions so may appear pixelated). There are also 'universal' apps (which have a '+' symbol against them in the store) which have processing in them to recognise the device that they are on and will tailor the display accordingly (so will make use of the iPad's larger screen).

Difference Between CS6 and CC Versions

I started the update to my CS6 software thinking that all this talk about the upgrade being designated as CC was a Marketing move. Instead the Application Manager installed the CC version and kept the CS6 version installed. What's the difference and why do we need both the CS6 and CC verions on our machines?

Or, as in my case, Muse gives you an registration error message one day and won't launch (thinks I'm using a beta version when I'm not). Adobe support eventually advises you to remove all your copies of everything Adobe on your machine, including preferences etc. CS6, 5, 4...
Support sends you a link to download Adobe Application Manager because you can't download it from your My Adobe. It works and you have time to download two of your Adobe apps because your day has been shot. Next day you launch Adobe Application Manager again and suddenly it upgrades and turns itself into Adobe Creative Cloud but won't actually launch as an app-managing app. Some kind of glitch. Now your array of CS6 apps doesn't exist anymore and you can't finish downloading your CC set.
Adobe takes desktop control of your machine (very nice support feature) and can't solve it after an hour or so and so tell you to restart after creating another admin user, severing the chat connection. Now I'm waiting another hour for a chat representative to take my chat and hope for the best.
Makes me wonder whether the boxed sets weren't better after all.... at least you knew you could reinstall something and DIY.... you weren't so completely and utterly dependent on Adobe support.

Lost connection between ACS and AD

Hi
I'm having a trouble with authentication to my WLAN. We are running a solution with LEAP and ACS 3.0 which gets it's users from our Active Directory. During the summer our ACS-servers seems to have lost the AD-connection and I'm no longer able to EAP-authenticate. All I get in the ACS is "Radius extension DLL rejected user".
The AD and the ACS are on the same network but not on the same machine. I can log in if I add a local user in the ACS. I've also tried to empty my cached user database in the ACS but to no avail.
One theory of mine is that it has something to do with a couple och hotfixes that Microsoft released in the middle of July.

I've gone through the issues in the suggestion made by cisco in the link:

but to no avail.
At first we could se an error in the eventlog stating that the user didn't have sufficient rights but it disapeared when we created an account and ran the ACS-services via it.
After that we tried to set up a local user in the ACS and it works like a charm even then the AD-accounts can't connect.
We also tried to remove the hotfixes released by Microsoft but still nothing.
Right now it seems as if the AD authenticates the user correctly but then the ACS says no. Here's the eventlog and the corresponding ACS-log.

Lost functionality in keyboard and mouse in Snow Leopard

Hi,
Since installing Snow Leopard I have lost the following functions:
"enter" key on number pad not working
scrolling horizontal w/mighty mouse not working. scrolling vertical with"nub" is superfast. System Pref's no help
Can't print using "Command" "p" in text edit.
I have tried the Combo 10.6.1 updater again but no luck.
Anyone else having these problems?

Just a thought: Adding your problem, which is different from the original posters' (he's using an Apple Keyboard and probably had OS issues), to a thread that has been dead for a couple of months is not the best way to get help.
I'd start a new thread that mentions your keyboard brand in the title, and a complete description of how you installed SL and what you have done (as far as permissions repairs, update reinstallations, keyboard vendor support statements) to solve your issue already.
Who knows, others that are using the same keyboard may recognize the problem and may know a solution from the thread title, plus you will have people working on your problem, not the original posters' (he never posted back, so I assume he fixed his problem).

How do I fix lost connection between Photoshop and Dreamweaver CS4?

How do I fix the lost connection in Photoshop CS4 to Dreamweaver? When I save for web and devices, Photoshop doesn't save for web but instead saves to the original file in Photoshop. The image doesn't show up in Dreamweaver's image gallery at all. Do I remove both from my hard drive and reload both? I don't want to loose anything in Dreamweaver or Photoshop.

Not sure exactly what you are asking since I am still a student learning Dreamweaver so I can only describe what is happening in non-technical terms. I have set up files in Photoshop CS4 for images that I plan to use in Dreamweaver as a gallery of thumbs that enlarge using the Behavior panel. I did this with over 100 images, first creating the correct size in Photoshop, then going to Save for Web and Devices, saving, and the image would then show up in my images list in Dreamweaver.
Now, when I save for Web and Devices, save, it doesn't show up in Dreamweaver. Instead, it saves it back into my original Photoshop file with hyphens between each word.
I have Windows XP Professional, Adobe Creative Suite CS4.
I don't know how this glitch happened, I did nothing different and have used the process successfully already over and over. I read as much as I could understand on the Adobe website and apparently glitches do happen but I don't understand how to resolve this. Do I uninstall both Photoshop and Dreamweaver, and reinstall both?

Petition to add "Package" functionality to CS6 (and not require CC)

Can we start a petition to request (read: pressure) Adobe to include Package functionality inside Illustrator CS6 without the need for CC membership? I realize they're in the business of making money, but requiring CC membership for such a basic (and frankly way overdue) function is... well, kind of a jerk move. There's no real justification to require CC for this, IMO.
Here's my signature.

Love the idea of getting some upgrades but short of a corporate miracle its not going to happen. I think adobe is missing out on 1 awesome idea. They see perpetual licence and they see subscription almost at other ends of the spectrum for several things. They need to pull from what corel did in response to cc and stop thinking you are either perpetual or subscription, do as corel and allow for both. If they did both and at a more reasonable price I would do cc without question. If cc allowed a perpetual licence and I could still sell my old cd thats way better. I have peace of mind and some of my investment back. If they also reduced the monthly cost say 10-20% and/or 1 more cc buy option as buy per program or a mid buy of say 35 for your favorite 3-4 programs I would have no reason not to go cc.
Corel is also doing perpetual and subscription but they have a 3rd option, perpetual + subscription. Here is how it works you get your cd/download perpetual copy and then you pay 100/YEAR for premium cloud. The funny thing is they have their pricing correct. The upgrades are generally every 2 years and cost for coreldraw 200 so that is 100/year which is the exact same cost. You get your stuff early and upgrades and cloud features. The only 2 down sides I can think of are being forces to get every upgrade but you chose it as their 3rd buy options and other is I highly dough you could sell your original cd/key to others with the upgrades on it, but you should still be able to sell the cd/key of when you bought it.
As is they dropped their well tried perpetual buy and replaced it with the one that even after 1 year people were not really buying into and not offer a hybrid buy. Adobe please offer a hybrid buy. Then you can ease us into the cloud if you want. Give us some options, price, perpetual (some how), perpetual + cloud, or anything.

Calling function between subprojects and DLL in WINCE7

We inherit a project develop using Platform Builder with WINCE7 and Visual Studio 2008. The project has a BSP, 5 sub-projects and a DLL. The problem is that when we add a function to the DLL Data Manager and try to call the new function from any of the subproject
using an Data Manager object that is currently used in the subproject to call other functions on the Data Manager DLL, we get the following error:"Error 107 Configuration_Setting_Mapper.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "public: void

Same error is received when we try to change the return type of any of the functions in the Data Manager DLL. Do we have to set a link between the Data Manager and the subproject? What could be missing?

So the import library for the DLL needs to be updated (with the new function which you are exporting). Otherwise, it's as though you installed a new version of desktop Windows with new capabilities but used the old API libraries; your code won't link because
the API library *you are using* doesn't match the DLL you want to call.
Since your code compiles, you're obviously using the new header file(s).
So, what to do? Without seeing the projects and understanding how the original structure was intended to work, I'm not sure we can say. You may be linking with a library in the SDK folder but not regenerating that library when the DLL changes, or you may
not be generating a new import library when rebuilding the DLL.

My Creative Cloud says that I can/need to install and the Creative Cloud (CC) Adobe Programs. What is the difference between the CS6 programs and the Creative Cloud Programs? If I install the CC programs can I delete the CS6 files?

Sandbox differences between CS6 and CC on Mavericks?

I have a CS Extension for InDesign that does authentication with a web service using OAuth2. The extension works perfectly in InDesign CS6 in OS X Mavericks, but fails in InDesign CC on the same system. The extension *sends* the login request from both versions, but, in CC, the response comes back to the system but is blocked, somewhere, before it gets to the Extension. This CS Extension works fine for both versions in Windows 7, and in earlier versions of Mac OS X.
My assumption is that some security setting, somewhere, is blocking the response from reaching the extension. It seems to me that it shouldn't be something at the system level, because it works fine in CS6. My question, therefore, is--did something change for CS Extensions that would affect getting a response from a server? Any ideas?

Thank you for the reply. Your questions got me thinking, and I as able to fix it.
PS CC is 14.2 x64.
The extension manager (for CS6) is version 6.0.7.6. I noticed another folder for the CC extension manager, but could not open the manager from inside there.
I went into PS CC x64, and from inside that I clicked to open the Extension Manager, and the CS6 EM is what opened. Then I saw the command "Install Extension Manager," so I did that and the CC extension manager installed. Now the other table and actions I was trying to install have been moved into CC.

[SOLVED] I'm lost halfway between systemctl and netctl in Wifi Setup

I'm working through the wiki pages Wireless Setup, to wpa_supplicant, and now NetCtl for the past three days. My progression is not continuous--I've jumped around. I can get connected, but I'm not sure what's managing that connection. I'm lost.
I'm sure any response will help me to determine where I am in the migration from manual to automatic to seamless
1) The first thing to notice in my setup is NetCtl reports to be managing my wireless network.

I do get a connection to my WPA router, so I assume its systemctl doing the work. WPA_supplicant must also be working because of the encryption. What else should I be checking to know that NetCtl is ready to take over managing WiFi before stopping systemctl management of dhcpcd and ethernet?
2) Speaking of migrating my active ethernet connection to NetCtl... I'm Look at the contents of this active ethernet configuration file:

I see NetCtl has other profile examples such as confsection. In addition there are hooks and interfaces which NetCtl processes before the profiles (both directories are empty). How much further do I have in this process?
What's the next step?

Thanks for you quick response cfr. NetCtl is working now. You were right. I needed to jump ahead and disable the systemctl services. I was too chicken S#!t to do it after three days of slogging through setup possibilities.
There are a few points I would make:
First, the first command sent to NetCtl, as I note in the discussion section, is "start" early in the page. And later, under the subsection "Automatic operation", its given as "enable". If you read the manual page "enable" seems the more appropriate first command.
Second, consider that users following the wiki pages are likely coming to NetCtl from Wireless Setup where the NetCtl wiki link is under the heading of "Automatic Setup". Automatic is a misnomer. From the perspective of Wireless setup, NetCtl is shown to manage ip, iw/iwconfg+wpa_supplicant, dhcpcd. From the perspective of NetCtl setup, automatic refers to "Automatic switching of profiles" using wpa_actiond and ifplugd packages. Its a fine distinction which makes a difficult state to describe in the wiki or in forum posts.
