Lost HD 1366x768 resolution on Satellite R630

My R630 LCD screen had always been using HD 1366x768 resolution (16x9 aspect ratio).
But not anymore ;(
This week, after the battery went out and I had it recharged the laptod came up with 1280x800 as the top most resolution available, thus displaying black blank areas ontop and to the right of the screen.
No changes (hw+sw) have been made to the laptop for this to have happened,
I am using the updated Intel HD drivers but the option to choose the topmost HD1366x768 resolution is vanished from the menu.
I can only use 1280x800 not covering the whole screen.
Please, I can I get 1366x768 back so I can get a proper use of my Toshiba.
Thank you in advance
Mrio

HI :(((
I thank you for your support Tony, but unfortunately after following every steps of your suggestion I came to very same situation: The LCD keeps not displaying full screen 16:9.
The only 16:9 I can/already could get is 1280x720 but with black bars on top and to the right of the screen.
I can't even center it. :((
I now I can no longer control the screen brilliance using F6 and F7 keys.
I further notice that, in spite of the Manual stating that there is 1366x768 available (as it always has been) not even in the Intel graphic configuration shows that option.
Its'a pity we cannot post attachmentes (pictures, files) here so I could show a screen capture of the problem. But this is text situation of the Graphics setup after following your recommendations,

Can anyone see the problem from these data?
I truly hope that Toshiba can help to solve this, for I would never expect such an unrecoverable deconfiguration that has happened for no apparent reason: no hw or sw changes had been mad, no external peripherals connected.
But Thanx anyway Tony for your support.

  • Wireless conection do not work in Satellite R630-13U Code : PT31LE-00V006

    Hi all
I have bought a new Satellite R630-13U Code : PT31LE-00V006CE two weeks ago. Problem is that I am not able to get connected to any Wireless network (neither open or encripted with WPA nor WEP).
In my laptop I got it with Windows 7 installed. I am able to see the wireless network icon next to the clock down right corner of the screen, also I am able to select one of the netwoks that the pc detects and show in the list. Then once I select the network it asks me for the password, and if I introduce a wrong password, I get the right error message.
Problem comes when I introduce the right password..... then after a couple of mins where I can see the "process bar" screen I get an error message that just says " Not able to connect to "WNetwork Name"".
As I said I have tried this with several networks open or with security and with both levels of security (WPA or WEP). I have tried this with different networks, with different routers, and in different places.... but never got a wifi connection with this new laptop.
I have tried uninstalling the broadcom adapter, and reinstalling it downloading the driver from the official toshiba web site, also I have installed the last version of the "Added Value Package".... but still is not working.
I have other friends with HP, o DELL that are using Windows 7 which are able to connect to the networks I am not , and with no problem..
What else should I try to get this fixed??
    Thanks a lot

    Hi all
Thanks a lot for the answer, but I dont think I have understood it correctly. What you mean is that I need to use the same encription that works with the router and with the Wireless card of the laptop (Broadcom).... but for me that would not be the right answer I need.
Imagine that this can be the solution, so we need to change the security settings of my home wifi network and of our office to the one being accepted by the laptop,..... but what happens if I need to go to a customer, or to a cafe.... Do I have to ask them to change the security settings???.... my other laptos (even toshiba's) works fine with other networks... routers.... why is this one not working?.
I have uninstalled the wifi card driver and installed it from the last one found in the toshiba's support site.... dont know really what else I should do.
Please any advice will be very pleased.
    Regards

  • Satellite R630-155 - Fan is too noisy and SSD upgrade

I am the owner of a Toshiba Satellite R630-155 (Core i5-480). My problems are:
    1. The fan is too noisy and never stops. In normal operation (browsing and general office work) there is a constant high pitch noise that is audible three to four meters away in an office environment - in high load you just can't stand it!!! The fan never stops... even when you are doing nothing...
    2. Heat is a big problem. The bottom of the laptop is constantly overheating and i have to place it on my desk in a way that the bottom left corner is outside of the table so it can breath fresh air from below - if not, the temperature rises and the (loud) fan is unable to keep up. When i work with the laptop while sitting on a sofa, i have to place a thick book between the laptop and my legs. The book must be thick (more than an inch) with hard covers, otherwise the heat passes through the book!!!!
    3. Last (but not least, i just mention the biggest problems here) it's the problem with SSD installation. I bought a used Corsair F80 (80Gb SSD) from a friend, but i was unable to use it with the Toshiba - the BIOS was not detecting the disk. I tried installing all latest firmware updates for both laptop and SSD but i had no success. Then i gave the disk back and i bought a brand new Zalman 128Gb SSD (SSD0128N1 Sandforce) but i had exactly the same problem. I contacted my local Toshiba support and after a lot of conversation the only answer i got is that the laptop is not compatible with those SSD's and this is acceptable by Toshiba and not their problem. They told me that if i need an SSD upgrade i can only go for the Toshiba SSD that is installed on the portege series, which is sold by Toshiba for a ridiculously expensive price - about $500 for 128Gb. I contacted the European support center and i got the exact same reply. I searched on the Internet and i found someone else with the exact same problem with a Corsair 128Gb SSD - he found that the laptop detects the SSD after ten to twenty reboots. I tried that and it was true - after a lot of reboots the laptop detected the Zalman disk and i was able to install Windows 7 successfully, but the process is unacceptable. Also the disk is benchmarked by official sites at the speed of an OCZ Vertex 2 128Gb (and slightly better), but when i ran a benchmark in the Toshiba, the results I got were below half of the advertised speed. Same benchmark in another machine for the same disk, resulted in the advertised speeds.
Shame for Toshiba... nice design and portability but everything else is a big flaw. Their support in non existent and they do not value their customers. I feel they stole my money and I'll never buy a Toshiba laptop again.
Sorry for the big message, but I need I have to warn potential customers. Can someone help me with any of the above problems? Do you have the same problems too?
    To be continued...

    Hi buddy,
Regarding the fan and heat issue: Did you make BIOS update? Friend of me has Satellite R630 too and he told me that fan activity with new BIOS version 2.10 is reduced. Furthermore the notebook is cooler than before so I would recommend installing this update. You can download the BIOS update here:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
But before you start the BIOS update you should consider the following tips:
    -Run update as Administrator only
-Unzip all files from zip archive before you start the update file
-Close all running programs and also the antivirus and firewall
-Make sure that battery is fully charged
Regarding the SSDs its always a little bit complicated installing 3rd party products and nobody can guarantee that such parts would work. You are always on safely side with original Toshiba spare parts.
Everything what you can do is installing the newest firmware for SSD and hope that it works but who knows maybe the BIOS update will also help you in this case ;)

  • Satellite R630-12G - How to deactivate wireless communication?

    Hi !
Everytime if i start my Satellite R630 12G notebook i have to deactivate the "Wireless communication" (blinks orange when its turned on).
How to set it "OFF" as default ?

    Hello
Im not Satellite R630 owner and I always use internal WLAN card but you should look in BIOS. Depending on the BIOS/mainboard you can disable WLAN.
    Check this!!!
Alternative you can disable the internal WLAN card in device manager of Windows.

  • Satellite R630-105 - touchpad temporally freezes

    Hi all,
    Toshiba Satellite R630-105 model.
When writing for a while (using the keyboard) without any rule-based touchpad icon character appears on the screen, and occasionally temporary freezing appears.
At the same time I use a USB mouse, and I disabled the touchpad using the Fn-F9 Tin order to eliminate the problem.
Disable USB mouse using the internal touchpad to be marked in the option menu Control Panel ->Mouse.
Synaptics currently installed driver version 15.0.12.0 dated 11.03.2010.
I also tried drivers installing at later date, but dont get a good result.
I have tried the suggested solutions but it did not work this link:
    http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Satellite-Laptops-all-other/How-to-disable-graphic-pop-up-notifications/td-p/211034
If you would appreciate a fix or suggestion for a solution.

As I understood your issue, the touchpad icon appear while typing and this can be solved temporally disabling the touchpad pressing the FN +F9.
    Is this correct?
In my knowledge you can disable the touchpad while typing by choosing the option in Control Panel > Mouse -> Pointing device tab (in some cases its Advanced tab) -> Setting button
There is area called Operations during key input
And there you can choose the option is called Disable tapping and Disable scroll function

  • After 1366x768 resolution - Black screen

    Hi,
I have a Mac mini (Early 2006) DualCore with a Sony Bravia KDL-40V2000. I have connected both electronic devices with a Belkin cable (HDMI to DVI-D)
I have some problems to choose the screen resolution. The best TV Sony Bravia resolution is 1366x768, but the Mac Mini resolution more near is 1280x720.
I have configured through DisplayConfigX 1366x768 resolution and then I have to reboot Mac mini.
But after the Mac mini reboot, I can't see anything on Sony Bravia Display. All the screen is black.
Only workaround that I have tested is connect a VGA display and try to change the display configuration, but Sony Bravia display configuration doesn't appear. Only VGA display connected is available to change config.
How can I do to resolve this big deal? Thank you very much!!
How can I do to configure the best resolution as possible to enjoy that?
    Thanks in advance!!!

When I started setting up my Intel Mini with my TV, I also had trouble getting it to work at 1366x768. I tried DisplayConfigX, but found it too technical. I was able to get SwitchResX to work. I don't have the same TV as you, nor am I using HDMI (mine is DVI), but perhaps you could try SwitchResX to get you working.
From a previous post, here is what I did:
I created a custom resolution. On the settings for that, I chose "Custom" (rather than scaled), I clicked on the "Use simplified settings: GTF". I used 1366 (horizontal) and 768 (vertical) for the "Active" setting, and 60 Hz for the Vertical Scan rate. All the rest of the fields adjusted themselves.
As also stipulated before, I don't really know what most of these settings mean, just that they work.

  • Satellite R630 - No Fullscren on TV

    Hey,
i tried to connect my Notebook with my TV with an HDMI-Wire, but I can't get a Fullscreen in the TV - there is a Black Frame around the Picture....anybody can help Please!!!
    thx a lot!!!

Hmm... As far as I know Satellite R630 is equipped with Intel graphic card. Right?
In this case you should check the properties of Intel display driver. In display driver menu Display Settings you have aspect ratio options. For example you can choose between Full Screen, Center desktop, etc.
Make sure that Full Screen is enabled or test the other aspect ratio options. This should work.

  • 1366x768 Resolution Missing on Thunderbolt Display

I've updated my MBP to Mavericks but I haven't needed to change the screen resolutions often. This changed when I installed Parallels, which made use of the system-available resolution settings to create its own set of virtual resolutions.
This caused a lot of issues because I've noticed that there was no 1366x768 option in Parallels! Now to achieve this specific resolution I had to stretch the window to the size of 1366x768.
What concerns me is that this ubiquitous resolution is not available on the Mac side of things. Instead, a nonstandard 1344x752 resolution is there which doesn't cut it at all for me. Even more baffling is that 1366x768 was available in the past but has been removed!
I tried to use SwitchResX to add the resolution to the list, but this ended up in the Thunderbolt Display blacking out in clamshell mode. When out of clamshell mode the display ran concurrently with the laptop display, but the 1366x768 resolution did not work at all.
Is anyone else experiencing this and does anyone know how to remedy it?

I'm assuming that you have checked for and installed all available software and firmware updates...
Have you checked to see whether there are other features that are no longer working? Do the USB ports, FaceTime camera, Ethernet port still work? You can also pull down the Apple menu and select 'About This Mac', then click on the 'More Info' button, then click on the 'System Report' button. If you click on the USB section you should be able to see each of the Thunderbolt Display USB devices listed. They include the USB Audio, FaceTime HD Camera, and the display itself. If they are missing then it's time to take your display in for further evaluation.

  • Satellite R630 - after stand-by cannot use Wi-Fi again

I have a new Toshiba Satellite R630 and each time it goes on sleep state it disconnects my Wi-Fi internet connection.
Then I have to restart completely the laptop to be able to recover the internet connection!!! It is very annoying.
    Does someone have a solution?
    Thank you very much!

    Hi
My notebook does this the same.
Its seems to be nothing unusual. In most cases the ip dress needs to be refreshed
I can solve this using the command: ipconfig /renew (in command dos box)
Or repairing the wlan connection; right click on wlan icon in task bar and choos repair

  • Need windows 7 32 bit for Satellite R630-11L

Can anyone help me to locate Windows 7 32bit drivers for Satellite R630-11L,
    I found only for windows 7 64bit

    Hi
I didnt find a full range of Win 7 32bit drivers for Satellite R630 on the Toshiba European driver page as you said, just 64bit drivers are available.
You can try to install 64bit drivers on Win 32bit system. In many cases this should be possible.
In cases where this is not possible, try the drivers from other satellite series
    Its worth a try
But why you want to switch to 32bit? 64bit OS is better if your notebook supports 4GB RAM or more

  • 1366x768 resolution on my Mac Mini 10.6.8

    Hi.
I have just bought a second hand Mac Mini, Mac OS X Server, 10.6.8
It has got 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo and 2 GB of DDR2 RAM.
I have attached it to my monitor, which supports the 1366x768 resolution (that's a 16:9 resolution).
From the "System Preferences" -> "Displays" I looked for that resolution but I didn't find it - therefore the screen looks a bit weird, with very small fonts.
Is there any way I can set up that resolution, or at least make the screen look a bit nicer?
    Thanks,
    Dan

The only official High Definition resolutions are 720 i.e. 1280x720 or 1080 i.e. 1920x1080. However while TVs supporting the full 1920x1080 resolution have a real physical resolution also of 1920x1080, nearly all TVs only support 720 as a resolution have physical resolutions totally different - typically in the region of 1366x768 (sometimes slightly different).
TVs and monitors are supposed to tell the device they are connected to what resolutions they will accept and so should tell your Mac that they support 1366x768, unfortunately many do not and only advertise they support in this case 1280x720. On top of that it seems Apple also only assume two choices of either 1280x720 or 1920x1080.
If the choice of 1366x768 is not listed it is sometimes possible to manually define this resolution on your Mac and then be able to select it, you will need to buy SwitchResX to do this from http://www.madrau.com/

  • Satellite R630-14J -How to remove keyboard?

    Hi there
I have bought a Toshiba Satellite R630-14J, and i would like to remove de keyboard for clean it.
I have tried to remove the plastic case between the keys, but I have not succeeded.
    Any Ideas would be appreciated.

    >i would like to remove de keyboard for clean it.
In my opinion its not necessary to remove the keyboard in order to clean it.
First of all its possible to remove the single keycaps. In case you would not be able to remove dirt, you could remove the keycap firstly. But be careful...
In your case I would use a cotton wool tip and some drops of alcohol in order to clean the keyboard

  • Satellite R630 - need internal camera video capture software

    Help!!
I have a Toshiba Satellite R630 laptop with skype installed.
The video side of skype works perfectly well but i can't seem to find any software on my laptop that enables me outside of skype to make and capture video recordings using the built in camcorder in the laptop.
What do I need to do to be able to do this?
    Thanks. Len

    Hi
As far as I know you should find the software in All Programs -> Toshiba
If its not installed, you can download this from the Toshiba European driver page.
After the installation, the webcam tool control bar should be available in the upper are of the display. Its slides in and out in order to use it
The webcam tool control bar can be moved to different areas (left right bottom upper area)
    Check this

  • Satellite R630-13R - HDMI output just for AV Receiver?

I occasionally play DVD's on my Satellite R630-13R with the sound output going via the stereo jack to my Amplifier but now that I have to buy a new Amp I've been looking at AV Receivers which have HDMI inputs and pass through the picture.
I won't have a TV screen connected for some time (till it comes to upgrade) but can I take advantage of the processed sound via HDMI into the AV Receiver in the meantime?

    Hey,
Yes you can use the HDMI connection for an AV receiver because HDMI transfer sound too.
I found a similar thread about AV receiver on HDMI. Maybe its useful for you also if you have problems with correct configuration:
    http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=50845
    I hope I could help you :)
