k, i have tried installing the linux x-fi driver for my sound card... but im sorta having trouble installing the driver.
i sorta find the instructions arch wiki to install the driver confusing... how do you install it? im really lost, and im very new to linux.... but i do got computer smarts...

The wiki page (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HCL/Sound_Cards) doesn't cover installing drivers for creative soundcards as such. They should be installed automatically. However it doesn't mention the x-fi at all. I am not sure what the procedure is for your card. Are you sure it hasn't been autodetected? Also you should read this article if you haven't already. Format it for OS X and run a surface scan on the partition. That should show any hardware problems that don't keep it from working altogether.

i downloaded the newest driver and tryed to install it. it says "setup did not detect the set of required compents you have. setup wil now exit" what do i need to install the latest and greatest dri've other than the card itself?

I had the exact same problem updating the drivers for my Audigy 2 Platinum EX, but I think I managed to solve the problem. This was quite awhile ago, but I think I remember how I got it to work.
First of all, which update did you download? The "Digital Rights Management" driver update was the one giving me that problem, and this was after installing the main drivers and programs from my Audigy 2 CD. But, I think the reason why it gives this message is because you need to install one of the other driver updates first, then install this DRM update. Look under the driver details and it says the following:
"Requirements:
Microsoft? Windows? XP Service Pack 2 or Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 </LI>
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 or Audigy 2 ZS series internal audio device </LI>
EAX 4.0 ADVANCED HD Driver Patch Update for Sound Blaster Audigy 2 and Audigy 2 ZS (released on 29 March, 2004) installed, or Sound Blaster Audigy 2 and Audigy 2 ZS Driver Update (released on 29 July, 2004) installed."</LI>
Strangely enough, it appears this update requires you install an older driver update first (EAX4DRV_AUDIGY2__84_50.exe) then afterwards try running the Digital Rights Management update.
I think this is right, but I'm not 00% sure.

The Third Party JDBC Drivers pane specifies drivers to be used for connections to third-party (non-Oracle) databases, such as IBM DB2, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or Sybase Adaptive Server. (You do not need to add a driver for connections to Microsoft Access databases.) To add a driver, click Add Entry and select the path for the driver:
For Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase Adaptive Server: jtds-1.2.jar, which is included in the jtds-1.2-dist.zip download
To find a specific third-party JDBC driver, see the appropriate website (for example, http://www.mysql.com for the MySQL Connector/J JDBC driver for MySQL, http://jtds.sourceforge.net/ for the jTDS driver for Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase Adaptive Server, or search at http://www.teradata.com/ for the JDBC driver for Teradata). How do you install a replacement keyboard for the laptop????

I can't find any instructions for installing a replacement keyboard for my PowerBook G4 1.33 Ghz. The instructions on the Apple website are for the 1 Ghz model and there is this slot thingy to the left of the NUM LOCK key. There is no such slot on mine so I have no clue how to install. And the replacement keyboard didn't come with instructions either. It seems that the entire case is one piece and the keyboard is embedded within. I tried pulling it up but I don't want to break it.
HELP. I have no key cap for L or F7 and C is on it's way out and I'm on deadline. Of course, it's Saturday as well.

Mate you can do some pretty dope stuff with Twixtor it's a good plug in as for Shake I never used it but the check this out

Downlaod the tutorial that is 215mb and read some of the stuff - it will give you an idea how sophisticated Twixtor is in terms of frames and so forth! I like it Im still messing around with it... the only thing I have an issue with is learning how to synch the audio & the lips movement of my characters so when i put it in slow mo everythings fits well... i hope that made sense...

How do you install the Jikes compiler for JCreatorV3 LE?

Hello, this is Esran. I recently downloaded the Jikes compiler(version 1.19) and I'm having problems integrating it into JCreatorV3 LE.
Here are the instructions given in the help menu:
1. First download and install the Jikes package. (only ~850kb)
2. Click Project > Project Properties.
3. On the JDK Tools tab of the Project Properties dialog box, make a copy of the default compiler.
4. Change the command line to the path of Jikes.exe.
5. Add the parameter option -E.
6. Close the Tool Configuration dialog box and enable the Jikes checkbox.
7. Compile your project by pressing F7.
Important: Make sure the project path doesn't contain spaces; otherwise, you get compiler errors.
I got confused on step 5. it says to add the parameter option -E, but where do I add it?
This is what is already typed under parameters:
-classpath "$[ClassPath]" -d "$[OutputPath]" $[JavaFiles]
Now where do I insert that -E?

Where do you put the -E parameter? If this thing you're talking about works like most other command-line applications, it would be after the name of the program. Like this:
yada/yada/yada/jikes.exe -E -classpath ...
Or you could try putting it at the end. Usually it doesn't matter. The test is whether your thing works after you do it (did you do that test yet?)

I re-formatted the hard disk
You need to
reinstall from the original source
Could be
1 - the restore disks that came with the computer - if it came with CDs and you do not know where they are then contact Apple to see if they can be replaced
or
2 - the iLife DVD that you purchased
or
3 - the app store - log in under the Apple id used to purchase the software or to set up the computer - look under purchases - you might have to unhide or accept the Application first

I can plainly see I've got the same issue as many others with regard to using my IDE devices on the p965 board. In short, I can't. I have to install the JMicron drivers.
I know this has been covered elsewhere, but frankly I can't find it and I want it to be in a highly visible place, perhaps a permanent thread. Would someone please supply the link(s) relevent to doing this for those of us who cannot yet boot to an OS because ALL of our mass media and optical devices are on the IDE chain that needs the drivers?

Kappy Thanks for help.. I had already tried the Disk Utility but external drive did not show. What worked was to shut down every thing and shut off power to all. Disconnect power to the external drive. Connected power to computer and then restarted the computer. After the computer was up and running, I reconnected power to external drive and then turn it on. At this point the external drive returned to my desk top
