Lost Ical Data.

I reset my sync data not realizing i would lose my data and i did not have a back up. Is there any way to retrieve that data as it was on my iphone as well and both are now gone. Please help.

I had the same problem as others: upgraded to 10.6, lost all calendar entries, multiple validation errors occurred, saw "To set an email alarm, you must provide an email address" in the console window, got some entries with some fiddling but still many missing. The procedure below fixed it for me; you need a bootable backup of your 10.5.* system with the original, good calendar.
1. Boot into your 10.5.* system, start up iCal, and back up iCal. Call the iCal backup file "bad.icbu".
2. Open bad.icbu with TextEdit. Search for "nomail". You will find one or more such events; call these the nomail events.
3. Using iCal, delete these events. They may be recreated if needed, but delete them first.
4. Make a new iCal backup and call it good.icbu.
5. Boot back into 10.6; start up iCal, and import good.icbu.

  • Lost ical data on ipod touch during sync

Using mac book with snow leopard version 10.6.8.  I closed my mobile me account after it expired.  I am not using the cloud.  When I tried to sync my 2nd gen ipod touch, I lost all my ical data on my touch.  Before deleting mobile me, I exported all my calendar data from mobileme cals and imported all data into new calendars "on my mac".  The only way I could set up new calendars was by setting up a new group.  Don't know if this has anything to do with the problem.  Everything else on touch syncs.  I tried resetting the touch.  I also reset sync history in isync.  Nothing has worked so far.  How can I get my ical data to sync to my touch?

The "Time Zone Support" in settings on the iPod said Cupertino, USA.
I've turned that off now and it seems to have fixed the problem.
NB: There is a note in the settings that says "When off, events will display according to the time zone of your current location."
    Thanks for you help!

  • Lost ical data when upgraded to maverick

I've upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks and now find I have none of my icalendar data.   Can anybody help?  I do have the Time Machine Backup but don't know how to retrieve ical data from it.
    Thanks for any help!

  • Lost iCal data after upgrade

I've just updated my husband's MacBook from Leopard to Snow Leopard. Everything has gone perfectly well, apart from iCal and Address Book, both of which are now empty. How do I reunite them with their data? If it isn't hiding somewhere on his MacBook, I can retrieve the files from Crashplan. Just that I don't know what they look like, where they are, or how to feed them back into the applications...

I've googled but I still can't figure out where these files are, or how to reunite them. Anyone?

  • Lost iCal data... ALL of it :(

I added iCloud so I could access a shared calendar, and now ALL my dates in iCal have dissappeared. I can't even find the original "calendar" anymore. HELP PLEASE. Being such "a planner" I'm slightly freaking out at the loss of all my data...

    Hi Ken,
Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
    Reboot.
If that doesn't work, Import emlx to mbox, See if this helps...

  • Lost iCal data after attempt to use iCloud...possible to sync from iPhone to Macbook?

I attempted to enable iCloud on my MacBook Pro, and after seeing that it was deleting all of the data on my iCal, I realized that it wiped out all of the data on my iCal . I stopped the iCloud sync quickly after.
However, my iPhone 4 has a recently synced copy of all the data, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to transfer the events on my iPhone to my Macbook?
I am running OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.2.
Thank you, any help is much appreciated!

I believe sync is working.  I think IOS 6.1.2 caused some new attribute in the event record that Calendar doesn't recognize.
I do not use iCloud (had the same problem with multiple duplicate events which took hours to fix) for calendars or contacts.  I sync wirelessly with my MacBook Pro once or twice a day: very painless.
Since I updated my iPhone to IOS 6.1.2, events created on the iPhone do not show up in Calendar.  Events created in Calendar do show up on the iPhone.
I also have an iPad which I updated to IOS 6.1.2 over the weekend.
If I create an event on the iPhone, then sync with the Mac, then sync the iPad, the event shows up on the iPad.  The only place the event could have come from is the Mac.  Calendar still does not show the event.
My guess is that there will be a Calendar update soon.  I hope so.  It was driving me nuts.

  • Upgraded software and lost Ical data.  How do I recover it?  It does not appear in the ical of the computer either.

I upgrade to 5.0 and the calendar items disappeared.  How do I recover them?  Help!

Sorry, but audiobooks cannot be downloaded more than once without charge, so if you don't have a viable backup, you may be out of luck. You can, however, contact the iTunes Store, explain the situation, and see if they can make an exception for you.

  • Is it possible to recover ical data lost in a sync?

Is it possible to recover ical data lost in a sync?

Your only bet is to resotre from the Time Machine backup. However when you do this the sync process will promptly delete the calendars again, so you need to work through the slightly convoluted method detailed in this page:

  • Help I've just lost 8 years worth of iCal data

I've just lost 8 years worth of iCal data. Does Apple still have the  data? My HD died. My Mac mini will not support the new "Cloud" portal. Does anyone have any ideas how I can retrieve my data from Apple? Thanks

When you say "I can see all of my calendars", I'm assuming you mean in iCal, yes?  If so, my two suggestions would be:
    1) Go into Time Machine and go back to a date when you had all your calendar info, and restore the calendar from there.
    Or ...
    2) If you were using MobileMe, access your MobileMe account through your web browser, open the Calendar in there and see if there's any data in that calendar.  If there is, you should be able to sync through Mobile Me, choosing let MobileMe overwrite the hard drive.
But I'd definitely try Time Machine first.
    Good luck.

  • Lost my iCal data and bookmarks with a Time Machine migration

I needed to reinstall my OS (due to a partitioning issue). i didn't have room on my re-partitioned hard drive to restore everything, but I did restore my apps. No when I open foxfire I don't have any bookmarks, and iCal doesn't have any of my calendar data. Is that data stored somewhere else on the time machine back-up? Or did I loose it because I didn't export my bookmarks and back-up my iCal data before I reinstalled?
    Thanks,
    Nancy

none of user data for any applications is ever stored in the applications themselves. it's always stored inside user's home directory. that's what you should have restored, not the applications. specifically, ical data is stored in /users/username/library/calendars and firefox data in /users/username/library/application support/firefox. see this link for more info

  • My ical data has disappeared

My ical data has disappeared on both my iPhone 5 and my desktop.  I have never used Time Machine and when I go there all it does is ask me to set it up.  Anyone help restore iCal data to previous settings?

Thank you.  You may have been right about the server glitch.  After hours, literally, on the phone with Support trying to load the calendar from my phone, and finally giving up, my calendar on the website was magically restored 24 hours later.
I'm guessing I'm not the only one this happened to, and that they restored to an earlier version for me and whomever else's data was lost.  Pretty scary, actually -- and annoying!
    Thanks again for your help.

  • ICal data suddenly gone and iCal stuck on birthday subscription

I am on OSX 10.8.4 - iCal data suddenly gone and iCal stuck on birthday subscription - when trying to create events, or enter any data - the following prompt comes up "You can't add or change events on the Birthdays Calendar".  I can not get "off" the Birthday Calendar  - I can no longer access any of the old data or use iCal at all.
    - Any thoughts? Suggestions?

I have a similar problem. I have been using MobileMe to sync my MacBook Pro and my iPhone 4. I noticed on Friday morning that all data prior to 6 months ago (23 Apr 2010/Fri) is gone, except for recurring appts (birthdays, mainly). MobileMe may have had something to do with it, but I never log on to the site, and I had not updated my MobileMe calendar online (or iCal on my laptop, either, for that matter). And, I also don't know exactly when I lost all this data, either, which of course doesn't help either the troubleshooting or the recovery processes.
I confirmed that all my settings (laptop, iPhone, iTunes, MobileMe online) were all set to keep all events forever and to sync all events. As part of checking all this, I got the message about updating my MobileMe calendar, which I did. I didn't lose any additional data. I am diligent about all updates, but if I had realized I was switching from keeping all my calendar data on my laptop to keeping it all on a MobileMe server, I wouldn't have gone ahead.
Anyway, a Genius confirmed that my settings all look good. I went through the Express Lane chat process and am now in touch with a MobileMe Senior Advisor. We'll see. I'm not especially hopeful but will let y'all know how it proceeds.

  • How do I retrieve iCal data from my Time Capsule.

Aloha:  For unknown reasons I lost all my iCal data.  I went back in time (pretty neat!) and brought back an old version of iCal that did have the data.
However, now I am unable to use this old vrsion with my present operating system!
How can I retrive my old data and get it on my new version of iCal?
    Thanks

How do I retrieve a file from my backup in Time Capsule?
It depends on the type of file that you are trying to retreive.
    In general.....
Open Time Machine by clicking on the clock icon on the dock
Wait a few minutes for Time Machine to fully load
Use the timeline at the far right of the window to go back in time to a date when the file was still on your Mac
    Click that date
Navigate using the Finder interface to locate the file that you want
Click on the file to highlight it
Click Restore at the lower right of the window to be brought back to the present
You have to retrieve other types of files differently. For details, see:

  • Stopping iCloud service erased iCal data on my Mac

I was setting up iCal and decided to postpone the first sync to later. When I wanted to "Disconnect", I got the message that all data would be deleted from the Mac... of course the data would still be available for other iCloud connected devices.
Problem is that my Mac is the ONLY device sychronized to the cloud so far. It deleted my iCal files completely. I was lucky to uncheck the address book before iCloud could get to it. Thanks to Timemachine, I'm back to normal.
Is this normal that if I one day want to stop using the cloud service, it will delete everything from my Mac?
I can't believe this would be designed that way.

It's disappointing and selfish of Apple to force users into keeping iCloud by deleting all the saved data off the computer permanently, when signing out of iCloud. It's basically blackmail; keep iCloud or all your **** gets deleted. There isn't even an option to save it back onto the computer!!! Absolutely PATHETIC.
This is the kind of **** that used to set Apple apart from the others; things that made sense and a sense of care.
Well Apple you've blown it; thousands of people (perhaps even millions?) have lost their data because they have decided to stop using iCloud. I thought iCloud looked cool, but now I see that there is a VERY big catch.
Please, put an option there to copy data back to the computer; if you can copy all the data onto iCloud, then ethically you should have the ability to copy all the data back onto the computer. Please, have a sense of ethics and give users this option!!!
    This option was never removed.
Open Address book then File > Export.
    Turn off iCloud.
    File > Import.

  • How to recreate lost iCal using time mashine

I have tried to recreate lost ical using time mashine but without succes. I get the folowing message" iCal can neither be change nor be deleted because the item is required by Mac OS X. Hope somebody can help.

You're trying to restore an older version. You can't do that. Back up all data, then boot from your recovery partition (command-R at startup) and reinstall Lion. You don't need to erase the boot volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac didn’t ship with Lion, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.
