  • Lost icon for Settings, Safari and Email

I have lost the icons for the following, and probably more.  Settings, Safari and email.
I have done what might be called a "hard reset" by holding down both buttons at the same time.
I cannot use iTunes to restore, as it will not allow me to do so.
I have looked in every icon that holds a few programs, and the lost icons are not there.
I understand that scrolling will help find the settings icon, because it is there somewhere, but I have scrolled ad nauseum, and it isn't there.
I don't mind wiping it, but don't know how to do it.  This is on the original iPad.

I am not sure I can offer any more help. It seems very odd that you can't find the installed icons anywhere. Just to make sure, you did not see anything in the task bar when you swiped through it? Did you have a search page and what happened when you tried to search for 'settings'. When I try that in my ipad, I will get a listing for my settings icon that I can tap and it will take me to settings.

  • Lost icons in finder sidebar, and folders that won't go away

I've somehow lost the icons for documents, movies, music and pictures in the finder sidebar...and i dragged some folders to the sidebar to use temporarily but they keep reappearing even after i've trashed them...is there a way to reset my sidebar to the default (and tehn i will hope that solves both problems)? Thanks!

    Hi AYS,
Navigate to ~(yourhome)/library/preferences and trash these two files:
    com.apple.finder.plist
    com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
Then log out and back in again. Or restart.
(You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.)
    Let us know.

  • [SOLVED] KDE 4.5.2: lost icons of Pidgin, Skype... from System tray

Plasma crashed today and I lost, so called, "Default panel". After restart, I manually added panel, added System tray widget on it but System tray is no more displaying icons of non KDE applications such Pidgin, Skype and DeaDBeeF. Tried to change icon theme, played with icons folder mentioned in topic https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=103689 but so far no luck. There are not even blank spaces instead of icons. If I add System tray widget to the desktop, it also don't have those icons on it and it have blank spaces instead, say, KNotes and Klipper.
    Any help is appreciated.

File ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc was corrupted. I backed up it, deleted, restarted KDE, new file is created. Need to tweak desktop again but icons are shown correctly.

  • Help - lost icons in finder window

Hi, Somehow i lost some icons, and i can't get them back. When I click on the HD icon, i get the finder window. Listed are: network, MacHD - a line, then: Desktop, User Icon, Applications, Pictures, and Favorites. I almost positive I also had a Music and Utilities icon in there. Last night i had some problems with my mouse and several times heard and saw the famous "cloud" and "swoosh disappear sound". After, I had fewer icons in the finder. Can someone verify the icons that should be there, and how do I get them back?
    Thanks...

Here is what Mac Help has to say about sidebar items:
To customize the list of basic sidebar items, choose Finder > Preferences and click Sidebar. Select the checkbox next to items you want to show.
To add a personal item, drag it to the lower part of the sidebar. You cannot add items to the upper section.
To remove an item, drag its icon out of the sidebar.
Drag items up or down in the sidebar to organize them.
To change the width of the sidebar, drag the divider bar beside it. You can show just the icons or hide it completely.
To eject a disk or disconnect from a volume, click the eject icon next to the item in the upper part of the sidebar.
So, you should be able to drag items of your choice into the sidebar.

  • Lost Icon in my Curve 8520

Hi to all...this is my first post in this forum.
I´ve been used my Curve 8520 every day with no problem but I updated my device sw yesterday and I lost the icon and the function to block the keyboard. How can I fix this problem?
    Thanks
    Sergio

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Depending on what level you updated to, the function changed. Somewhere in the 5.x BB OS series, the old method was replaced. How it works now is thus. To simply lock the keypad, use the hard button on top of the BB. If you assign a device lock password, you then will have an icon on your homescreen by which to force it into an early password lock state.
This is how it now works. There is no way to change it except to fall back to a version prior to when the functionality changed.
    Good luck!

  • Lost icons on launch pad

I have lost most of the icons on launch pad.  Anyone know how to restore them?

Ohh, sorry my mistake. I sometimes make up words in my head and mix sentences around. May I ask what is missing from your launchpad and what disappeared? Is it possible that you accidently put an icon over anothericon? Doing that can start a folder in your Launchpad. Also if you hold your click for a few seconds, the icons start skaking and allows you to delete icons. I am pretty sure to add applications to your Launchpad is drag it from the finder to the Launchpad logo on your dock. If you are missing those applications, I recommend reinstalling the ones your are missing. If its from the app store, reinstall it from the app store by going to the purchases tab and downloading the apps in there that you don't have anymore. If it is from the internet or disk, download however you downloaded it before. Also, if you have a Time Machine backup, I advise that you restore to the last time you can remember you haveing those qapps in your launchpad. If you don't use Time Machine, I highly advise you go and pick up an external hard drive that is time machine comaptible (ask a store employee for which ones work with time machine) and set up time machine so if this happens again, you just have to restore from your last backup and it will make the process much easier. So to sum up, if you have time machine, restore your mac to the last time you remember having those things in your Launchpad, if you don't use Time Machine, then reinstall everything you are missing manually and get a time machine compatible external hard drive from an electronics store and setup Time Machine. It is very easy to setup, only one or two questions and it's fully automated.

  • Lost icon for App Store

I can search the name App Store and it opens up but it is no longer on any pages
How do I get it back?

It was nowhere in anyof the other pages, although I have more than 200 apps, and many folders, so It is difficult to find.
Finally I did get it back using settings, but I did not realise that all your folders and catagories would be lost and it will bring it all back - but I cant imagine that it has brought all icons back, since I have about 250 Apps, and I understand the max for display on 4s is 176?

    Hi, spotshooter.
Did you install a hacked version of Front Row on the Mac in question? If so, see my "Uninstalling the Front Row hack" FAQ.

  • [Solved] Gwenview 5 lost icons and single click

    Hi,
I don't use KDE but I do use Gwenview. Since upgrading to 5 Gwenview has lost some icons (outlined in red below), and I now have to double click on directories and images to open them instead of single click. Is it possible to fix these issues without installing a full KDE desktop?
    Thanks, Jamie

  • IPhone 5S has lost icons (no way to access Settings)

OK, I have a new iPhone 5S 16GB currently on iOS 7.03. I had selected a new app to install via iTunes (Metoffice weather app) but the install did not seem to be going well - the icon would first appear on the phone as if it was installed correctly, but then seconds later it would disappear.
I selected 'Remove' the app from iTunes and did a sync, then disconnected my iPhone and powered it down. Upon re-starting the 5S most of the icons were missing! also, there was no connection to the cell service. Ah well, no problem- I have a backup right? Tried to run the restorevia iTunes but it asks me to disable the 'Find My Phone' app on the phone first - but the Settings icon is one of those missing so I can't access that.
There seems to be no way of recovering this phone?
    Any help appreciated
    Chris

The were totally just gone, I went online to Apple Support (Chat) and sorted the problem eventually. A hard re-set was ineffective so went to the iCloud website and clicked on Find My Phone then reported it lost. The phone was then wiped and I could re-start from scratch, then restore from the backup. I would not have managed all that without the help of the Apple support guy! It's currently downloading all my apps again.
Still begs the question as to what caused the failure in the first place though - iOS issue?

  • Lost icon for contacts

I am using my iPhone 3g and have lost the icon that accessed my contacts. How can I replace that so I have easier access to the contacts and do not have to go through the phone to get them? I have synced the phone and still no luck. Thanks for any help!

That icon/app cannot be deleted. Scroll through your home screens by swiping your finger across the screen - the Contacts app should be on another home screen. Tap and hold any icon unti they all wiggle, then drag the icons to where you want them.
If it is truly gone, you'll need to perform a Restore in iTunes.
