Lost idvd themes

I have just upgraded to Tiger from Panther (where I used IDVD 5.0) and subsequently upgraded IDVD to version 5.0.1. I now only have access to 15 IDVD 5 themes as opposed to a range of version 4.0 themes when using IDVD 5.0 with Panther. Is there a quick way to download the 4.0 themes so I can use them within version 5.0.1 ?

Hi Jason,
Welcome to the Discussion forum.

There were no themes in previous iMovie versions. Perhaps you mean iDVD themes?

  • Using iDVD themes in Motion?

Has anyone ever figured out a way to make use of iDVD themes in Motion? There are several that would make nice elements for other projects.

    not that I know of...

  • Using idvd themes in imovie and photshop?

    hi,
i would like to use idvd themes for the cover art of a dvd and sounds for imovie clips. therefore, i wanted to know if and how it's possible to find the image-file of an idvd theme so that i can import it into photoshop, as well if and how i can find the sound-file of an idvd theme so that i can use it in imovie. i would be happy if i can avoid using extra software like audio hijack pro etc. to extract the sound and graphics. is there's an easy way to find and use those files?
    regards,
    andi

You can look in the parcel contents, richt click or control click, than in the "contents" folder the "Recources" folder there you can find "tif" files.
    Its a long list.

  • Why does my 7.0 iDVD theme not have sound playing in the menu?

Why does my 7.0 iDVD theme not have sound playing in the menu?  When I click to get menu info, the "TravelAudio" audio is listed, but it won't play.  The volume is not the issue, it just isn't there.

    Hi
First of all - I would try to trash the iDVD pref file (or rather start a new User-account and log into this and re-try).

  • How to convert iDVD theme to .mov file. for use in FCP?

I would like to use the Baby Mobile iDVD theme as a clip in a movie to be created on FCP. I dropped my pics in the iDVD project with the Baby Mobile theme and put in a green background so I could later key out the background and replace it with a different background. I deleted the title and added a short movie to the menu. Because I don't want to use the theme as a DVD menu, I made the menu button the same color as the green background.
I then burned the DVD. Next I ripped the DVD using MactheRipper to give me the Video TS folder. I then used Handbrake to convert the VOB files to Mpeg4. Unfortunately, Handbrake only converted the 10 second movie I put in iDVD and not the Baby Mobile iDVD theme.
Any ideas out there to help me use the iDVD menu theme as a standalone clip in a movie?
I did find the source material of the theme in the Mobile.pox folder; it contains the 2 .mov files with alpha channels but I would rather not go through the time consuming process of keying in the movements and size of my pics to match the Mobile. It would take too much time and I don't know how successful it would be.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.

    Options:
-If you have FCS2, you can use Motion to track the points, thus saving you lots of keyframing time in FCP.
-You can use MPEG Streamclip to rip the DVD (I believe it can find the menu files)
-You can get a screen capture program such as Snapz X Pro to screen capture it.
-As it encodes the media in iDVD's burning process, you can find where it stores the temporary copy of the MPEG2 that it creates, and snag that file before it finishes the burn and deletes it.
NOTE: I've never tried option 4, nor do I know if it will work. I just came up with it.

  • Transfering idvd themes from one Mac to other

    Hi all
I was trying to transfer my idvd themes from my Macmini into my G4 and it didn't work. It asked me to install idvd again but my copy of Tiger didn't install idvd for some reason. I have OSX 10.4.10 installed.
How can I get this to work?
    Thanks
    Web dude

Archive is really only important if you've done any copying and pasting between projects, OR you have used non-standard (Third Party) loops (I should have added that to my third party list, good catch, iSteveus).
If you're only using loops that came with GB, you'll still be fine with just copying the projects as is (are).

  • Missing Menu buttons in iDVD themes

Strange behavior/problem with applying iDVD 7.0 themes: an alert triangle appears in the DVD map view warning that "Menu contain no buttons." This occurs in the "Forever" theme's "Main" as well as "Chapters" graphics. What should I do ---is this an indication that the iDVD Theme's files are corrupted---if so, what fix is there? Many thanks for any help.

Try this basic troubleshooting fix :
1 - delete the IDVD preference file, com.apple.iDVD.plist, that resides in your
    User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents of IDVD'S cache folder, User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iDVD.
3 - launch IDVD and try again.

  • What Are Themes For versus iDVD Themes?

Quick question. I am looking at the themes in iMovie, but am slightly confused about how these interplay with iDVD themes - in the iMovie "Travel" theme, there's an Element "Open" which looks almost like a static (albeit with drop zones) DVD background - I guess this becomes just part of the movie, which plays for its duration before the movie just continues. Is that right? In which case, is the most logical use of the elements as opening pieces for new chapters?
Hope I've explained this in a way that makes sense?
    David

    David,
The themes in iDVD a for use when creating the motion menus of a DVD.
The theme elements in iMovie can be used as parts of movies you create.
For example, you might use the "Open" element of the "Travel" theme to create the opening sequence of your trip to Maui movie. Kind of like the main title sequence you see at the movie theater.
Other elements are for use throughout your movie. To create chapter titles to mark the different sections of your movie; the day at the beach, the drive up the volcano etc.
Finally, you can use the credit elements to create a credit sequence at the end of your movie. Again, like the end credits you might see in a movie theater.

  • Using iDVD themes

How do I import iDVD theme footage into DVD Studio Pro? I have no idea where the iDVD themes are even stored on my hard drive... I've looked, believe me.

In Finder, go to the iDVD icon in the Applications folder...then right-click (or control-click for the one-button mouse) and select "show package contents". You'll find the iDVD themes in Resources/Resources...but I'm not sure about importing iDVD theme footage into DVDSP. The documentation seems to indicate that you can if using iDVD versions prior to iDVD5, but I've never tried it.

  • Third-party iDVD themes

I'm looking for third-party iDVD themes that will work with iDVD 6. Specifically, I'm looking for an "Extreme sports" theme. Are there any available?
I have checked the following with no luck so far:
    http://www.idvdthemepak.com
    http://www.idvdthemes.com
    http://www.idvdtheme-tastic.com
    http://www.keynotepro.com
    Thanks!

There are no third party themes or trailers for iMovie that I am aware of.
Apple's Motion (available from the App Store for $50) will enable you to create your own motion graphics, themes, titles, transitions, and what not. It is a Pro tool with a big learning curve, but it is quite capable. It is fully integrated into Final Cut Pro X. It is not integrated into iMovie, but you could save a Motion project as a QuickTime file and import to iMovie as an Event. You would have to do this with any third party tool.

  • Where do I get iDVD themes?

When I try to use iDVD, I get the following error message:
    No Themes Installed
Quit iDVD and install iDVD again, or click "Look for Themes" and locate the themes folder.
Where do I get iDVD themes?

Look where Eric suggests and when you find them  go to iDVD's Advanced preference pane.  If the themes are not listed in the window click on Add, go to the Themes folder and select it.  Close iDVD, relaunch and try again.
FWIW: follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • IDVD themes missing

I have iDVD 7.0.4 on my MacBook Pro.  I'm trying to open the program.  As it opens, a display pops up that says, "Loading themes".  After that, iDVD closes.  I recently moved my Themes folder from the desktop to the iDVD-CNTRL+Click-Show package contents--plugins- and created a folder called "Themes".  Should the folder be called "Themes" or something else?  I suspect that's my issue.

I am encountering a similar problem with iDVD on my new MBP with Mountain Lion.  I installed iDVD as a custom install from my iLife 11 original disk.  With that I had themes 6 and 7 only with the older themes greyed out. I clicked on one of the greyed out themes and received the message that I could get an update, but it goes to the apps store and simply stops there.
So I copied the themes 1-5 from the Application Support/iDVD/Themes folder that I have on my older MBP with Snow Leopard.  I then copied those themes into the Themes folder on my new MBP.  I did a repair permissions from disk utility and rebooted.  However when I open up iDVD themes from 6 and 7 are ok but the old themes all appear just as a yellow triangle.  There seems to be a broken link there somewhere.
I tried downloading update 7.0.1 and opened it with Pacifist.  There were only Themes 5,6,7, in there. I tried adding themes 5 out of 7.0.1 into the Application Support/iDVD/Themes folder on my MBP with Mountain Lion, tried repairing permissions (none to repair) rebooted and then tried iDVD, but while themes 6 and 7 are ok, it does not recognise the Themes 5 folder or any of the older themes.
Any suggestions as to what I can do next?   Philip

  • 3rd Party iDVD Themes

Being a new convert from the PC, I was very excited to be able to do a great looking DVD using iDVD themes. Unfortunately the themes apple provided are very limiting and so I was quickly on the google hunt for some more. To my surprise I found very little on the net and what sites I did find were from various searches as well as links from other sites.
I decided to put up a page that listed all the iDVD Theme sites that I found hoping it will help others find what they are after. As I find more (or others tell me of more), I will update this list.
    http://www.ingenios.com.au/Apple/tabid/85/Default.aspx
Hope this helps many of the creatively challenged (such as myself) that want more than what apple supplies, but don't have the skills to create their own.
    Enjoy.

Thanks for the advice and the welcome.
I have purchased some themepaks from dvdthemepak.com and am waiting for them to arrive so I can play with them. It's unfortunate that you had to repurchase the themes for the new versions.
I am hoping to really learn how the themes (iDVD/iPhoto etc) are made, so, with the help of some graphic artists, create a collection for people to download. If there is more competition for themes, then prices come down and service goes up.... we will all benefit. Well that's the theory!
I hope more artists come out of the woodwork to help the community.
