Lost Illustrator CS2 Discs

Hello,
I'm wanting to get Illustrator CS2 back onto my computer, but I don't know where my installation discs are. I was hoping that I could just use an installer and then input my serial number - but I believe the free trial downloads that I've tried in the past just say the trial has ended with no option or place to "upgrade" to the full version.
I legally own the copy and my serial number and product version, etc. can be verified by an Adobe customer support person through my Adobe account should it be desired.

Hey all,
I have download a tryout file with the hopes of just inputting my serial number into that - however, as soon as I launch it, it just tells me 30 day period has expired and just offers me the chance to buy Illustrator. As previously stated, I already own Illustrator - so I don't want to purchase it again, nor purchase a newer version.
Is there any reason why it won't give me a "I already have a serial number" option or something?

Lost adobe CS2 discs. How upgrade?

I'm retired & on limited income, thus I'm far behind in Adobe upgrades. I currently use CS2 Suite mostly Indesign, Illustrator, & Photoshop, for a book I'm writing that is currently at about 3500 pages. CS2 meets my needs and don't need to upgrade. However, I also have a hobby of photography and use LR 3.6, but would like to upgrade to LR 4. But to take advantage of LR 4 I need to upgrade my OS. I hate Win 8, but Win 7 Pro I'm told will run my CS2 and LR 4. I've saved up and got LR 4 & Win 7, but need to wipe my hard drive and reinstall the 32 bit disc. Problem: I can't find my CS2 discs! Can I not take the ones in XP download to external HD, then reinstall on Win 7? How does one do this? Or does one just forget the LR4 & Win 7? I can't afford to get another computer or upgrade my CS.

If you upgrade Windows XP to Windows 7, then your applications may still be activated and working. But CS2 may only run under XP compatibility mode in W7.

Note that you cannot upgrade a 32-bit OS to a 64-bit OS.

CS2 disc lost

I'm in a quandry. I've had a hard drive meltdown, and it seems I've lost my CS2 disc. I've got access to my reg number via my Adobe account, but I've got no way to re-install w/out the disc. Only the updates are available under Downloads at Adobe. The only disc I have is my old PS7.0 disc. I can't install that since I'm running OS10.6.6 on an Intel Mac. Anyone have a suggestion?

I'd encourage an upgrade to CS5. CS2 is the oldest version that can upgrade. You will likely be out of the upgrade window when CS6 arrives.
CS2 was not designed for your computer. CS2 was written for PPC and may run slower on Intel because of Rosetta emulation. CS5 was written for your computer.

How do I get my authorization code for adobe illustrator cs2?

I have the adobe illustrator cs2 disc with serial number...etc. But I can not seem to get the authorization number, please help me?

In addition to what Monika said, since the activation servers for CS2 were closed down, your unique serial number and your disks will fail. The only way is to download the non activation versions along with the generic serial number(s). And if you have the Premium, you will have to download Acrobat and GoLive separately as standalone versions.

We have tried both saving the files on our company server and on our individual desktops - neither of which will open the files.
Fonts are ok - they are all created and saved in CS6.
Printers, I believe are all correctly set up.
We tried a complete reinstall on one PC - still running into the same random files ending up 'lost' with the same error message.
Originally, the cs6 design standards (6 licenses total) were loaded to the server/shared drive and then downloaded onto each PC from there - we believe this may have something to do with the corruption, but this problem has just begun within the last month and the programs were all downloaded over 6 months ago.

Illustrator CS2 bridge will not open with Illustrator CS6 installed

I had CS6 loaded and working well but when I uninstalled a previously loaded copy of Illustrator CS2 my Bridge would not fire up. I tried reloading Illustrator from CS6 disc but it still would not work.What can I do?

Help installing Illustrator CS2 on Macbook

Everytime I try to install illustrator cs2 on macbook its stops at the "Preparing Disc" screen.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thumbnails of Adobe Illustrator CS2 have disappeared

I noticed that all of the Adobe Illustrator CS2 thumbnails have turned into just generic icons. This is pretty useless if you have files to browse through and you want to see the thumbnails in Spotlight or Finder. I can see thumbnails in Adobe Bridge, but I prefer using Spotlight.
Photoshop files have their icons, as do all .jpg .tiff and others. Also old AI files that I haven't opened in AI CS2 have their thumbnails as well. But as soon as I open them in AI CS2, the thumbnails are gone forever!!
How can I have the thumbnails back?
What is going on? Is this is another example of "Made for Mac" that is NOT?
Adobe people seem to think that it's an OSX issue, so please OSX wizards don't tell me now that it's an Adobe issue.

No Illustrator I have ever used, and this goes back to Illustrator 88, has put anything but a generic program icon on any file.
If you have old Illustrator files with icons on them then most likely you were using a third party software to do it and they will be lost as soon as you save it.
This is not something Illustrator has ever done. Try using Thumbnail Pro:

Installing Adobe Illustrator CS2 on Pwerbook G4

Hi All,
I am new to using a Mac ,so forgive me if I mess up a bit. I have a Powerbook G4 running OSX 10.4.4 and am having a hard time trying to install Adobe Illustrator CS2. When I follow the instructions on how to install it and click on the setup.exe file, it asks for an application to open it up with.It has no idea what to use to install with. I have no idea on what to use as an application. I tried several programs found on the laptop, but none worked. is there an application or applications that I can use in order to install the program or download and install?. I have installed other programs on the laptop and they installed fine. I have run all the updates to the operating system.If you need any more information, please let me know and thanks!

Strange :s ... usually when you insert the disc, a folder from the disc opens up to show ONLY mac realted files.
Open your disc icon and choose the folder with the Mac OS X icon. The MAC installer should be right there.

Illustrator CS2 Student Edition Stuck On Computer

I'm a windows XP user and I installed Illustrator CS2 (student edition) on my computer years ago while I was a student. The software no longer works and doesn't start up. When I try to uninstall the software using the XP utility or repair the software using the original disc I get the following error message:
The window was interrupted before Adobe Illustrator CS2 could be completely installed. Your system cannot be modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again.
I tried again with the firewall and anitivirus turned off, with no luck.
Same thing is happening with my Photoshop CS2. Any ideas???

Illustrator CS2 crashes when Type Tool used

I'm running CS2 on Win XP Pro
When I click on a document to enter text the program hangs and then crashes.
I have also lost the font preview on the toolbar.
I've tried deleting the Preferences folder and have removed all fonts except Win System fonts (and reinstalled them). I have reinstalled the whole of CS2 but still have the same issue.

I am having trouble with Illustrator CS2 as well. I have it as part of Creative Suite 2 on Windows XP.
When I use the type tool, the cursor blinks as expected but the app hangs as soon as I type a letter.
I have deleted the files suggested above and reinstalled Illustrator (twice now) but it still happens. I did not uninstall and reinstall the whole suite, just the Illustrator element.
Am at a loss as I really need to use this app today.
Can anyone please help!

Illustrator CS2 file crashes

I created a file yesterday in Illustrator CS2 on the MAC and today it crashes when I try to open it?? Help! I need to open this file, OR I'VE LOST A FULL DAYS WORK.

Illustrator CS2 Save Issues - Random Hexadecimal Naming

I have a weird one for you. I have a user running Illustrator CS2 on a Windows XP SP3 system and has recently developed strange issues when saving changes to existing AI documents of which he is the creator and owner.
When the user makes a change to the existing file that he has opened, if he goes to file and save, it creates a file with 7 hexadecimal characters followed by a tilde. If the document is then closed, the old file name is lost and the file only exists as the new Hex named file. If he makes another change, without closing the file, and hits Save again, it retains the original file name.
I have yet to uninstall and reinstall, because I wanted to see if there is a setting that has been thrown out of whack.

If you have not yet updated to 12.0.1, do so.
Are you saving to a network-accessed file server, and, if so, were any changes made to the system recently? In any event, it's best not to work directly on files across a network.
Finally, always try trashing prefs before resorting to an all-out uninstall/reinstall. (See FAQ #2.)

Does anyone know the difference between the file format of Adobe Illustrator CS2 and CS3? Is there a document that documents this? Can someone send a link? The reason I am asking is that I have written a plug-in which saves the current CS3 document back down to CS2 so that users who are still using Adobe Illustrator CS2 can open it. However, if the same document is opened by a CS3 user, what objects, constructs or data structures are likely to be lost because the file has be converted down to CS2? Most things seem to be retained and I have yet to find a problem but if yo save manually from CS3 to CS2, Illustrator puts up a warning stating "Saving to a legacy format may cause some changes to your text layout and disable some editing features when the document is read back in". Does anyone have any more detail on this?

There are new features in CS 3 as opposed t CS 2 and the text engine has been improved some what in CS 3. If you have text on a path that is say curved you are going to see a loss in the spacing and way it is oriented. fixed in CS 4.
I forget some of the new features in CS 3 what was not a feature in CS 2 will be flattened when saved back.
Or the feature will simply not be available.

The AI File Format is not publically documented, as far as I know. I'm sure there are plenty of differences between CS2 & CS3's file formats, but you're not likely to find anything official on the subject.
What you lose saving back you're more likely to get help on, assuming someone's actually investigated this. I haven't, unfortunately. I wouldn't mind knowing either if someone has information on this.
