Lost Iphone 4 backup in itunes 10.0, 10.5 required for 4s

The backup of my now lost iphone 4 was done with my itunes (10.0), however my new Iphone 4s requires itunes 10.5. Can I download itunes 10.5 whitout losing the back-up (hopefully) stored in my itunes 10.0? thanks!

Just wanted to add that when I connect i do see my iPhone name in the left pane where the "sync/undock" icon is and it says "verifying" up top , just doesn't seem to recognize it's the same phone as before. Just the setup new iphone screen is available to set up as new or restore. I know the restore wouldn't go well...
Thanks,

From the backup you maintain of your computer data. Don't backup your computer? Then your data is gone. You can always sync your phone to create a current backup.

The top 3 fixes to itunes error 9808 seem to be
    1) Go to Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Advanced, make sure that SSL 3.0 is checked and TLS 1.0 is checked. Also under Security make sure that the “Check for server certificate revocation (requires restart)” is unchecked. Then click ok and fire up iTunes.
    2) The culprit is Norton. Go to Norton’s Personal Firewall and add the program “iTunes Helper.exe” and set the option to “Allowed” (”iTunes.exe should already be in the Allowed category.)
    3) Close iTunes if you have it open right now. Then go to C:/Documents and Settings/username/Local Settings/Application Data/Apple Computer/iTunes. Delete or cut the preferences.xml file which contains your iTunes preferences. Then go to C:/Documents and Settings/username/Application Data/Apple Computer/iTunes and delete or move the preferences.xml file. Restart iTunes and it will recreate those files with the default settings. You can change them back later.

  • Restoring iphone 5 from iPhone 4 backup from iTunes pls help!

In a pickle can anyone help please....
When I try to set up my new iphn 5 64GB by restoring from a backup on itunes it says that the back up is either corrupt or iphone not compatible.  I have tried restarting the computer and still no joy.  Is there anything I can do.  Please don't tell me to just create a new backup from the iphn 4 and try again as I can't beacuse since the last backup my iphone 4 had a big blip hence why I have upgraded.  Was using iphone 4 and opened a text message from a friend which made my phone crash and then restart missing two years worth of texts and whatsup.  Gutted I have lost the info but no way how to recover and put back on phone.  I tried to update using my last back up despite that being a month out of date, but no good it said ...
iTunes could not restore the iphone because the backup could not be saved on the computer????  when I did this back up it never said it was no good  - are previous backups still there?  Would it show up if I deleted this back up?
The message I get now if I try and restore to the new iphone 5 is that backup is either corrupt or not compatible.  Am I totally stuffed   Or is there hope
Any thoughts or ideas gratefully received.
Really wanted to keep some of the texts as they were from when my daughter was born.  Sad I have lost them.
    Thanks

I have got he new iphone 5 which requres itunes 7. My imac informs me that all updtes are up to date but this is not so! my itunes is not and I am currently on osx 10.5.8. why will it not update as usual?

Updates are free, what you need is an Upgrade...
First you need to research all the problems people are having with the higher OSX versions, & make sure you have a bootable clone of what you have just in case.
then you must get 10.6 if they still have it, install it & update to 10.6.8 so you have the App Store to buy & download the huge 10.8 Installer.
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...

It's been pulled from the online store & Apple Stores, so you have to call Apple to buy it, last I heard.

  • Restoring iphone from backup in itunes

    Hi,
I have just plugged my iphone into my itunes for the first time and have been asked if I want to set up as new or restore from backup. Lots of good threads advising that setting up as new doesn't wipe anything - thanks.
However, the last backup date is from when I had an old iphone that broke and I hadn't backed up to icloud, so I am wondering if I click restore from backup can I get back the photos I thought I had lost without wiping the stuff on my new phone?
    Thanks!

    Sorry... No.
A restore from backup replaces what is currently on the Device with the contents of the Backup.

  • How can I retrieve texts and photos from a lost iPhone without backup?

I recently lost my iPhone at a concert and unfortunately, it was never connected with iCloud, nor was it backed up to iTunes. I got a new iPhone and connected it to iTunes. I have my contacts (taken from my sister's iPhone) and voicemails, but nothing else. I would really like my old text messages and photos, but have no idea what to do in order to get them. Please help! And like I said, backing up will not work, and I tried to use iphonebackupextractor.com also.

Let me get this straight.....You lost your phone.  You never backed it up, either to your computer or to a cloud service.
How in the world would you expect to get data back?

  • Can I restore an iPhone 5 backup on iTunes to an iPhone 4S?

I had (still have) a 4S; I upgrade to the 5 on 10/25/12. I backed up my 4S and loaded that backup on to my 5 on 10/25/12, then I erased the 4S. Well, I just lost my iPhone 5 and I was able to restore my old 4S with the 10/25/12 back that I made (I must admit I was resonably satisifed with this). However when I was looking thru my 4S today (Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage Plan), it still shows my (3) devices (iPhone 5, iPhone 4S & iPad). When I click on the iPhone 5, it says the latest backup was on 11/21/12, which is basically 2 days before I lost it.
So my question is, can I restore my 4S to the 11/21/12 backup that I did with my iPhone5? If so, how do I do it. I do realize that anything I've done on the 4S since I restored it will be gone (only 1-day since I restored it yesterday). I was in Mexico for a week and lost it there which is why there I have a time gap.

  • Restoring iPhone 6 backup from iTunes - 12.1.2.27, 64-bit

Yesterday I backed up my iPhone to iTunes.  Because I had restored from Verizon Cloud only 8 of my Contacts were showing!
Today I restored the iTunes backup and my full Contacts were visible...  for SECONDS!  They all showed then the screen blinked and the previous 8 were back!
How can I stop this from happening???

Sounds like the contacts were deleted after that backup.
    Restore from the same backup.
    As fast as you can
Use the control center, swipe up from the bottom of the screen,
    Turn on Airplane mode
    Next
    Settings > iCloud,
Turn off contacts, save them to the iPhone, if asked.
    Turn off Airplane mode
Turn on the contacts, if asked Merge them.
    Best of Luck

  • Restoring iPhone from backup using iTunes

My wife upgraded her iPhone to iOS 5.  Unfortunately, she lost all her photos.  She says she used backup, however, while following the instruction on the Apple support, we back up once more.  Now, the only restore option is the latest one which doesn't contain her photos.  Is there a way to get her iphone photos before she upgraded to iOS5?

    any ideas?

  • Lost Iphone 5, Backup Question

I lost my iphone 5 and its not really backed up in the cloud, but I always sync it on itunes and when i went to preferences it says my device was backed up last friday. Does that mean all my contacts are backed up through itunes and ill get them back when I plug in my new iphone??

    Yes

  • Slow iPhone / iTouch backup in iTunes?

Just a heads up here for other people who are experiencing really slow backups when they sync their iPhone or iPod Touch with iTunes of late.
After weeks of puzzling and painfully slow backups (2 hours+) and a trip to Apple I finally tracked the problem down to The Guardian news app. Basically, when you cache for offline reading, it creates 1000s of files and this slows the backup process of the sync right down. Delete the app, and your sync times magically restore to normal.
Hope that helps someone, and hopefully Guardian are working hard on a fix. (It doesn't afflict RSS apps...)

Wow! That totally solved my problem! I'd been trying to back up my iPhone for the entire morning (from 9:12 am to 11:20, it had only gotten through 20% of my iPhone and I simply got so frustrated I force quit iTunes and searched online for "slow iPhone backup" and found this post. Although I don't have the Guardian App, I went and deleted every single non-Apple App, and then reconnected my iPhone and was ASTONISHED to see my iPhone get backed up in less than 60 seconds!!! I'm not sure what was the offending App in my case, but clearly, it appears that when slow backups are a problem, Apps can most definitely be a cause...

  • Deleting iphone 4 backups from itunes. how do i?

    Hi.
I have my macbook pro and my brother and i got the iphone 4 on the 24th june. so anyway because he has no computer atm i let him sync and backup his iphone on my macbook pro. but since he got his own computer i would like to delete that backup. please does any one know where mac stores the backups and how to get to it? i tried to google but the locations i found, the dirs did not exist when i went to open it? is there some kind of hidden folders thing on mac?
i am on 10.6.4 the latest of snow lep if that makes any difference. and i am new to mac lol
any help would be appreciated.. thanks in advanced

    Hi,
If you are syncing via iTunes then you can open the Preferences and goto the Devices tab.
Within this tab you will see a list of all the device backups.
All you need to do is click on a backup and click the Delete Backup button.
This will remove all the files from your computer.
    Hope this helps.

  • ITunes Credit Card of Paypal REQUIRED for activation?

Just as the title states...I have a valid iTunes account that used to have CC info tied to it, but at this time, it does not...I am free to dl free content from the store....
Is this all I need for an "valid iTunes account" for activating my iPhone?
    Thanks!
    Ryan

No apology necessary. Now I understand your question, but I may not have an exact answer (someone else might though).
If I recall correctly, a credit check for you to have an account with AT&T is done during the activation process within iTunes by you providing your SSN.
Because no dollars are going to be exchanged between you and Apple (unless you want to purchase something from the store of course), I don't see why it wouldn't work.
But the key issue here is what they mean when they say "valid". Does a valid account mean a valid email address, or an email address and card or Paypal account on file?
    Hope this helps.
