Lost iphone - erase it all

Hello, I got robbed yesterday and took my cash and Iphone 5 (that I have it for 2 months). I've waited two hours to find the location on find my iphone apps and decided to erase all. My question is even it was later 2 hours to do it, is it possible that he might do something about it so the erase all thing won't work? and also the erase all - means all my photos, media, data were deleted right? and it will restore the settings to basic? Can he/she still use the iphone? is there any way that he can't use the phone or useless for him?

First of all, sorry you got robbed, that *****. As far as waiting for two hours to erase your phone I wouldn't worry too much, especially if you had a 4-digit passcode lock. 99 times out of 100 when someone steals a phone they wipe it clean themselves imediatley. They don't want to risk getting caught with it and they don't want your pics and apps, they just want to get a few bills for the device itself. When you erase your phone through iCloud it does erase everything as soon as the phone is turned on and it connects to the internet in any way. So your data should be safe from them. Now, question 1~ did you have an icloud backup so you can restore when you get a new phone? 2~ did you have ios7? If so then they will not be able to wipe your phone without your Apple id and password. Good luck with everything. Let us know how it goes.

If you didn't setup the "Find my iPhone" service on your phone before it was stolen, then you have no chance of finding it. Even if you had, a savvy thief would know how to turn it off or wipe the device to prevent it being found.

If your phone (plus syncing) is the only place you keep your pictures you are asking for trouble, theft or not. Back up onto an external hard disk which is only mounted when you need it, then nothing external can erase them. Then make use of Apple's facilities for protecting your phone:

You can redownload you previously purchased apps for free as long as they are still available in the app store. Be sure you are logged into the Apple ID in iTunes used to purchase them, then follow this guide: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.

If you haven't already done so, does restarting or resetting the iPhone help the issue?

Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service.
Pictures taken with the device are designed to regularly be copied off the device to a computer as would be done with any digital camera.
If you have failed to use the device as designed it may be too late to recovery anything.
Is the device regularly backed up to a computer via iTunes? If so, the most recent backup (when restored to a replacement iOS device) should contain all contacts and pictures as of when the backup was created.

If this is a phone you found, it is useless to you. There is no one who can put you in touch with the original owner and no way to bypass that message.

You can't get the phone working without the correct password, because the previous owner activated Find My iPhone and Activation Lock. In order to unlock the phone you would have to ocntact the previos owner of the phone. Unfortunately, this is the only way to get it working again.

If you sync your contacts with an app on your computer or cloud service, you can sync them back.
Apps and iTunes purchased media can be synced back from your computer iTunes library or re-downloaded from the store.
If you import all your photos and videos to an app on your computer before restoring, you can sync them back to your phone

The person that found them has deleted them on the phone so you iCal is gone is what I can figure.
