Lost iPhone Experience

I lost my 16GB iPhone only two weeks after I activated it! I visited these pages that encouraged me to de-activate my number, change my passwords, etc. Well, I just waited and called my number as many times a day as it was possible. FINALLY, someone picked up and told me he just found my phone after hearing it ringing! I arranged a pick-up and offered him a cash reward, but he refused... saying what goes around, comes around. Good things are coming his way... and I am going to pay this action forward!

Verizon, at&t, and all carriers use a 3rd party insurance carrier for this.
For whatever the reason or reasons, at&t's insurance carrier has chosen not to include the iPhone under their insurance coverage - the iPhone is not the only phone that at&t's insurance carrier does not cover.
If you rent, you can get renters insurance, and I highly recommend it. Especially if you live in an apartment or condo/townhouse community, but it is a good idea regardless.
I've been involved with construction companies that handle covered insurance losses due to fire, water, storm, and wind damage. I've lost count the number of apartment buildings I've seen damaged due to fire. A downstairs apartment catches fire and usually takes a number of adjoining/adjacent units with it. Many apartments require that renters have contents coverage since the contract stipulates they are not responsible for your contents due to fire, or for any other reason.
<Off soap box now.>

  • Why can't i view on iCloud what is on my lost iPhones? i can see how much GB's they are taking up but can't click on the data to see what it is..

Why can't I view my icloud backups on a new apple device using the same icloud id? Unluckily I lost 4 iphones in 2 yrs. all had same icloud acct on them, so when i log on to locate my current iphone on my macbook or on new iphone, it shows a list of all the lost iphones and their data take up.
When i click on settings on my ios> go to icloud > storage & backup> manage storage:
LOST IPHONE 1- 4.5 GB  DOCUMENTS & DATA : it shows PREVIEW 1.2 MB PAGES1.6 MB TEXT EDIT91.6 KB PHOTOS 3.2 GB
LOST IPHONE 2- 3.2 GB  DOCUMENTS & DATA: it shows same thing just different gb's mb's kb's
    LOST IPHONE 3- etc.......
but you can't click on those documents & data to show what exactly they are so you can move them or save and delete. If I go into icloud there's nothing there from that long ago. is that data deleted? if i were to get that certain iphone back and turn it on would the pics, docs still be in icloud? it says all that room in my icloud is still taken up so where can i view it?? anyone know??
                            THANK YOU!

If you haven't already, you could force-quit Quicktime by using the menu option from the desktop (finder) and choose Quicktime.
Not sure what you have frozen on the screen, be it a failed movie, or some unusual screen shot. If you can find by date (created) you may be able to look for .mov or quicktime suffix name or other video file content to delete it.
And you may have to restart your computer and perhaps run repair disk permissions from Disk Utility's first aid on the hard disk drive in your computer.
Not sure if all that would help now, but it is something a few days late...!
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • I got text messages from iCloudreport regarding my lost iphone , are they scams?

I lost my iphone two month ago and I got a lot of emails from "Find my iphone" saying that my phone has been found in at least three other different countries. Today I received a text message from a unknown phone number saying that: "Find my iphone service: your iphone 6 64Gb Gray lost/stolen has been found. You can reclaim it now at: https://icloudreport.com/?imk=3544070.....(8 more numbers)...., Apple Inc. " I clicked the link, it led me to this address"http://icloudreport.com" it looks the same as icloud home page. I feel this is suspicious because I really did not put any hope on my lost iphone been found. Is this a scam?
I then rechecked the emails that I received in the past and I found that some early emails I received are from "[email protected]". The link in this email direct me to "losticloud.com"  while the most recent emails are from "[email protected]" and the link in this email direct me to "icloudreport.com" (which is the same as that in the text message). Is any of the email I got is scam? I remembered I did login through the emails so I'm a little worried.

It's all fake. If you had set up 'Find My iPhone' you could find the phone yourself, provided it's on, not wiped, and able to connect to a network. If you didn't set it up you can't locate the phone and neither can anyone else. The emails are phishing, trying to con you into giving away your login.

  • I got an old/lost iPhone. How do I reboot the phone and tie it to my own apple-id/iCloud?

I lost my phone, but luckily I got an old/lost iphone from my work. It had been in a box with forgotten stuff for more than 6 months, so everybody assumed that the previous owner wouldn't care to get it back (they even called the number shown on the screen, but gave up since that number doesn't exist anuymore).
Now I have a phone which is linked to an old apple id, and I was wondering, if there is a way to reboot the phone and link it to my own apple id?
It has been reset to some sort of start-up mode, where you can activate the iPhone, but it is linked to the old apple id (the unknown, previous owner's) and since I do not have the password nor the e-mail for this old apple id, I cannot figure out how to link the iphone to my own apple id and finally get it activated.

The Apple ID and Password that was Originally used to Activate the iDevice is required
If you do not have that information you will not be able to use the Device.

  • HT4623 Is there any way to find a lost iPhone once the phone's battery has expired?

I have lost my iPhone(4)and the battery is dead. I have the "locate device application", however, I know the battery is dead. To my knowledge, once the battery has expired, it cannot be retrieved using the "lost device/find my device" application.?? Is this correct? If so, is there another way to find this lost iPhone?

Thanks for taking the time to respond!!
I didn't think so, but was hoping this was a time, that someone knew something that I didn't.

  • Only AT&T Could Kill the iPhone Experience

Ever since I saw the demonstration of the iPhone, I thought it was going to be the coolest phone the mobile industry has ever seen. In the months that followed, all the information and videos that have trickled out of Cupertino has reinforced this notion. The hype surrounding the iPhone has grown to monumental proportions. The reviews that I've been reading in the newspapers and magazines have relayed that the actual iPhone experience lives up to just about all of the hype.
I've been an AT&T or Cingular customer for just about 10 years now. When I've talked to friends and family about the iPhone, one consistent feeling that I've had is the ONLY thing that will KILL the iPhone experience is AT&T.
For me, that is coming true. I have this beautifully engineered piece of hardware sitting on my desk plugged into the USB port on my Core Duo Macbook Pro. I'm staring at iTunes 7.3 and the "Your activation requires additional time to complete" screen. The same screen that has graced the face of my MacBook Pro since about 8:30PM EST.
After getting this message, I called AT&T. I spoke with a customer service representative who told me that everything with the account was correct. My new iPhone had replaced the Treo 650 I was using previously. The MediaNET data package I had subscribed to was dropped in favor of the iPhone data plan.
I checked my Treo 650 at about 9:30 PM and it was no longer registering on the AT&T network.
At about 11:15PM EST, I decided to give AT&T another call. After my call was dropped by the IVR (I was on a land line), I finally got to speak with a customer service representative who asked me if I would mind holding while I was transferred to another group of individuals who could look deeper into my activation problems. After waiting on hold for thirty minutes, I decided to hang up and go to bed.
Here it is Saturday morning at 10:20AM EST. I've been on the phone with AT&T for 28 minutes - waiting for the "Activation Support Group". I've been told that activation can take up to twenty-four hours to complete. I find this unacceptable. When I relayed this to the CSR, she politely apologized for the inconvenience and tried to comfort me (I guess that was her goal) by saying that a large number of people are in the same boat. I was told that there are "millions" of people trying to activate their phone and it just takes time.

Macbook Pro Core Duo 2.16Ghz Mac OS X (10.4.6)

This is soooo ridiculous - you have to laugh otherwise you'll cry. Don't bother buying an iPhone now, wait a week. You can't do anything with it until AT&T catches up on activation.
I posted this in the AT&T apple forum but I'll post here too, just for the record:
Activation with an Old AT&T Wireless (not Cingular)
Yes. I am one of those unfortunate loyal customers too.
I have made 5 calls so far.
Once last night to find out that the department I needed to 'fix' my account is shut for the evening and will re-open tomorrow at 7am.
Second at 8:30a to find out that the 'Conversions' department I needed to 'fix' my account opens at 9a.
Third at 9am to get my old AT&T rate plan changed. Only to find out later on-line that the customer service rep changed it to a $59.99 950 minute non-iPhone plan.
Fourth, to get my rate plan changed to a $59.99 iPhone plan. The lady did not know how to do it and was going to transfer me to the 'Sync' department but dropped the call.
Fifth, call again. Lady took my IMEI and ICCID numbers, set me up with a $59.99 iPhone (at last!). Now I am waiting for the Sync department to reset my device so I can go through activation again.
Apparently its a 12-24 hours wait because AT&T was 'surprised' by the volume of iPhone purchases and I am waiting in-line behind people to be reset by the Sync department from last night.
The iPhone is a beautiful device, its only flaw is AT&T.

And my iTunes sign in is also screwed up... It is underneath my friends email (the one with my backed up data on his Mac laptop) HOW DO I CHANGE THIS SO THAT I CAN DOWNLOAD APP's again...

I suspect unless he had some items in iCloud backup then they are gone.  Connecting an iPhone to a different library from that to which it was previously connected will result in the device asking if you want to erase it.

There are none.  If the find feature of your iPhone's iCloud account was not enabled, it is not findable at all.  And if it has run down the battery, been turned off, or otherwise has no network connection it is not findable either.  If someone has it and has restored it as new, then it is also not findable remotely.
In any of those cases, you have no options but to look for it yourself, report it to the police and your carrier.  If it was not secured with a passcode lock, you should change all your online passwords immediately.

how do i recover my lost iphone 4 when i only had the "find my iphone" app, how do i locate it, how do i recover my lost iphone 4 when i only had the "find my iphone" app, how do i locate it

As long as you enabled it when you first activated your Iphone, it's pretty straightforward.  Using any computer, go to icloud.com.  Sign in with your Apple ID. A screen will come up with a map showing the general location of your phone.  If you have a friend with an iphone and are logged in using Safari, when you get close, you can tell your iphone to make a sound.  Good luck.

  • My Lost iPhone

My iPhone was stolen 3 days ago, I can locate it via Find My iPhone and set it to lost mode.
    Here're info .
    IMEI: 012837000013640
    Serial Number: C39GK6J2DPMW
    ICCID: 8966181106221928922
I tried to check serial number with apple id, it shown that this serial have been registered with another apple id (not mine) anymore. Can Apple tell me which Apple ID has been used.
Suggestion to Apple for lost iPhone.
    1. If in lost mode , iPhone MUST NEVER have slide to turn off. so that they can't offline my iphone
    2. If in lost mode, iPhone MUST NEVER have DPU mode for flashing any new firmware for wiping old device
    3. IMEI and Serial number CAN search the owner of Apple ID, if possible can search the location of lost mobile.
    Thanks you very much

  • Finding a Lost iPhone

I've tried to find my lost iPhone. Checking on iCloud, it says the iphone doesn't have a wi-fi connection. Is there a way to find it via the cellular service?

If you had Find My iPhone activated on the device and it is not showing up when logging into iCloud, did you contact your carrier and have them suspend the device? If so, you will not be able to locate the device via cellular. If you did not have them suspend it, it should show up if it has a cellular connection, unless the device has been found, powered off, or the SIM removed or the device restored. If any of those have happened, you will not be able to locate the device.

  • I have found a lost iPhone 4--how do I get it back to the owner?

    Hello Folks,
I've found a lost iPhone 4, along with a charger and some other personal effects (none of which are identifying, unfortunately).
Unfortunately, the phone ("Alyssa's Phone) was locked.  No problem, call up the service provider (Telus) with the SIM card number.  Unactivated and thus unregistered SIM card.
Okay, let's use the IMEI or serial number off the back of the SIM tray--not registered with Telus, either.
Okay, let's phone up Apple technical support: serial number no longer eligible for support!
Clearly, Apple has had some dealing with the phone--can they get in touch with the owner and let them know where they can pick up the phone?

Try to connect the MBP to your computer with Firewire-Target Disk Mode
    follow instructions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1661
and try to find out the owners identity.
it won't work if "open firmware password" is enabled on the MBP.
Or if everything is FileVault encrypted.
It's possible it won't work without a power brick for the MBP, perhaps you can borrow one ?
You could also take out the Harddisk, and pop it in an external enclosure, but that's more effort.
