Lost iPhone - how to track it

Hello,
Has anyone heard of a program/software to help track a lost iPhone?
Today I heard about ihoundsoftware.com to help track devices, but they do not support the iPhone at this time.

You can only track phones if you setup the tracking before you lost it, as you have to enter validation codes on the handset. The Police and Phone companies can track them, but don't unless there has been a crime more serious than theft.

You have to have enabled Find My iPhone on your phone before it was lost in order for it to be located. If you did, you could play a loud two minute sound on it even if it was on slient, as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmfc0f19b5.

LOST iPhone: How can I trace it back without preinstall tracking apps?

Hi all,
urgent help needed. I have heaps of important docs and info stored in my iphone and it is lost! I did not back up the phone in my computer so I desperately need them back. I am pretty sure it hasn't being stolen as I had being calling the phone since i lost it and it is still ringing at the other side. if it has being stolen the thief must have switch it off and change a new sim card.
I went to the police, they are hopeless.
I have not installed any apps for tracking on the iphone. All i have is the phone number (which i can still make to the phone, for now at least before the batt die down) and the IMEI no. i get from the box.
I have my gmail and yahoo mail signed in too in the iphone. can i track down my phone through these email services? doubt it though.

Not much you can do sorry to say. Anything you could of done relys on you first installing the Find my Phone app and setting it up (which was free).

Is there any way that apple can locate/track a lost iPhone? The tracker wasn't set up and switched on.

Would apple be able to locate the lost phone by using the serial number?

Lost iPhone - how good is the PIN protection?

My iPhone was recently stolen and I'm concerned about the data that I had on it. The phone was PIN protected. How good is this PIN protection? Is it possible someone can recover the data from the phone without knowing the PIN?
Given in the UK if a phone is stolen its completely useless since the IMEI is blocked on all networks, I assume that it can still be used in an ipod touch type fashion? Is that so?

In regards to the iPhone's passode lock feature, if someone knows what they are doing and has the proper tools/utility, an assigned passcode lock can be bypassed - just as if someone wants to break in to your house or vehicle that is locked - where there is a will, there is a way.
Doubtful whoever stole your iPhone is interested in your data. If you had the erase data feature enabled, which completely erases the iPhone after 10 failed passcode attempts, you are covered there.

Unless you've preintstalled some device GPS tracking application like BlackBerryProtect or SmrtGuard, no, you can't track the device PIN or IMEI numbers.

The phone can only be tracked when it is connected to the internet, either by wifi or your cellular data network, and only if you have set up iCloud and Find My iPhone on the phone before losing it. I don't believe erasing the phone will delete your photo stream, which should remain in iCloud along with your other iCloud data. If your carrier blacklists the phone from their network, a theif could probably still jailbreak it to unlock it so it would work on another carrier's network. If you erase the phone, it will erase all your data and settings so it could no longer be tracked. This is something you do if you're pretty sure you aren't going to get it back and/or you are more concerned about someone gaining access to your data than you are getting it back. Of course, the remote erase command can also only be executed when the phone is connected to the internet; if it is never online again, the phone won't be erased.
