Lost iphone, replaced it, found lost one, what to do with old one

Ok, I lost my iphone 4g, I get a replacement, insurance wasn't available at the time I got the phone. Now one of my co-workers found it for me today, what can I do with the old phone. Should I report it to Verizon, and hope they would offer credit or some consolation to my account. Or don't bother wasting my time with that, just try to sell it.
Please advise, thanks

How did you get a replacement?  If you just purchased it, the old one is yours to do with as you wish.  The credit you can get from Verizon is  less than you could get for it by selling it yourself, but you have to consider if that is worth the hassle.  See the official Verizon program:
https://www.trade-in.vzw.com
Looks like for the VZ iPhone in good condition:
$252 16GB
$265  32GB
$312 64GB
(I would expect these prices (and those you get elsewhere) to drop once a new iPhone comes out.)
If you got the phone some other way (you say insurance wasn't available) through a credit card company or something, I'm sure the conditions would say the old phone belongs to them.

  • What's wrong with old applet tag?

    Hi there,
What is wrong with old <applet> tag? It will stop displaying java applet in the new browsers? What do we gain by using <embed>?
    Thanks.
    Mike

The applet element was deprecated in HTML 4.01 but still works. Continue to use it to display AWT applets in NE else if using SWING applets must to use EMBED. See Java documentation for details, in special the OBJECT tag chapter..better reading about HTML converter.

  • What to do with old ATC?

My Airport Time Capsule (purchased April 2009) has apparently died.
A 'factory reset' results in a green light, then flashing amber, then solid amber, then the LED goes dark.  It never appears in Airport utility during this process.
I was using it mainly for backup and don't need a wireless router, so I bought an external hard drive to serve that purpose.
So what do I do with the old ATC?  I don't know if my data is still on it or not.  I hate to throw it in the trash.  Is it recycleable?  Is it worth anything to someone with the know-how to fix it?  If they fix it, will my data be exposed?
I just don't know what to do with it now.  Any suggestions?

You were right.  Power supply was dead.
I've never done anything like this before, but thanks to the link you provided with instructions, I opened up my time capsule.
I have no way to wipe the hard drive, so I decided to take a chance on replacing the power supply.
Ordered one on eBay ($79.95) and installed it.  Time Capsule powered up and is running fine.  It runs really hot so after reading about all the issues with the design, I decided to leave the rubber mat off the bottom and got some 'feet' for it so it doesn't sit flat on the shelf.
I wiped the hard drive and started my Time Machine backups again.  I really prefer the 'wireless' backup to the TC rather than having the USB hard drive plugged into my Macbook Pro for backups.
If I can get another 4 years out of it, it will be well worth it!
    Thanks again for the advice!

  • What to Do with Old iPhone When a New One Comes Out

What do you do with your old iPhone when a new one comes out? Is there some trade-in thing or something? Do I just pay full price for the new iPhone? Does AT&T have a trade-in policy or something?

No trade-in. I just sell mine [on ebay] a few weeks before the newer version comes out, or right after. they go for quite a bit if they are in nice condition.

  • There are 2 apps that unable to restore in-app purchasing after restore iPhone, TopikMiddle and TOPIK Card. What is happening with it?

I paid $0.99 for each apps TopikMiddle and TOPIK Card.
I can not restore these in-app purchase
    What should I do?
Or I lost my money for nothing?
What will Apple do in this situation?
    Please help!!!

Several erroneous things in your post.
    1. You don't have to restore the iOS to restore the last backup.  After disabling automatic syncing on connection to iTunes (iTunes Prefs > Devices > Disable....), connect phone and right-click the device tab and select "Restore from backup." This restores the last backup without deleting anything on the phone.
    2. If you had to restore the iOS, you could transfer your apps and other purchases to the iTunes library first - same procedure as above but select "Transfer Purchases."
    3.  If you did lose apps, you can re-download them without paying again, unlike music or media.

  • What to do with old 30GB hard drive after replacement?

    Hi everybody,
am going to replace my 30GB HDD with a 160GB HDD the next days, I am preparing everything around, as I am going to do it byf myself. One question besides all the data-saving, backing up and shifting to other drives is becoming increasingly interesting:
What do I do as soon as all the contents of the old drive are secured somewhere? Do I run a full erase on the drive? How can this be done?
(Sorry for the stupid quote, but the picture of a snake comes to my mind that eats up itself and whoops?!... away it is. ) I understand how to safely erase almost everything but the OS cannot be erased, correct?
    Thanks for a hint,
    I appreciate it.
    Cheers,
    Keywan

Once you have the replacement and file/data transfer done, you can pick up a HD enclosure for about $20-30 at most any electronics store and put that 30g drive in it. Then you can erase it and use it as a removable HD. I will do that when I upgrade a HD, no sense trashing a perfectly good HD, even a smaller one, when you can still use it for the price of an enclosure.

  • What to do with old iPhone

I have my new 3g iPhone as an upgrade. I would like to give my old (old!) iPhone to a family member. I was told at the O2 store (in the UK), that they'd be issuing Pay As You Go sims for the old phones next week. Anybody know if this is true? Otherwise, what's everyone else doing with their old handset?

Thanks for that. Yes, I got the O2 PAYG sim and set up the iPhone with it without any problems. I paid £20 for a top up, nothing for the sim, and I got £22 in total credit. There's a £10 per month data bolt on you can buy, but I didn't bother. I now have one of the very first official Pay As You Go iPhones. Pretty good.

  • What to do with old iPhone 5?

Hey, I heard somewhere that I can bring my iPhone 5 to apple store pay 100$ over and get new iPhone 6, is it true? If no, what else can I do with it? I have iPhone 5 64GB but it's covered with scratches. So I don't think I can sell it on the ebay and I've never used it before, it's just a thought. I've no ideas what to do. I would be very happy to get an answer.
    Thank you =)

    Hello Neron15,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communites.
The Apple Store has a recycling program that will give you an Apple Store Gift Card for old devices. See this page to find out more:

  • What dot do with old iphone 3 gs 32GB..I have already 4gs?

what ca i do with my old iphone?? sell it?? ..or does apple buy it back in order to exchange??

Apple has a deal with resellers and you will get something for it, but not much. What you CAN do is use it as an iPod Touch. See: Using an iPhone without a wireless service plan

  • What to do with old 3G iPhone?

I am currently using an iPhone 4 but have this expensive brick of an old 3G and want to know:
*Can I use it with only wifi around the House? (like ipod touch)
*How do I go about not screwing up my iPhone 4 if I plug this 3G back into my itunes? Do I need a new sim card?
*can it be upgraded to newest software? Can I still put apps on it or share the apps I have on my new iPhone and have purchased from itunes?
I'm sort of a low level abuser not a tech guru so please go easy on me!!:
    Grazie

"*Can I use it with only wifi around the House? (like ipod touch)"
    Yes.
"*How do I go about not screwing up my iPhone 4 if I plug this 3G back into my itunes? "
Itunes should keep then separate. Name them differently.
    " Do I need a new sim card? "
You should leave the previously active SIM card in it.
"Can I still put apps on it or share the apps I have on my new iPhone and have purchased from itunes?"
    Yes.

  • What to do with old iPhoto library after migration to Photos

After migration to Photos my hard drive is maxed out. I want to move the 15gigs old iPhoto library to an external drive to free some space as some have suggested. Others here have said you can just trash the old library. There must be a reason 10.10.3  was designed to retain the iPhoto library. Trash it--really? Another suggestion was to put my 15 gigs on a flash drive. So the question is: does Photos need to be able to see the iPhoto library as it would if on an external drive connected to my Time Machine?

Thanks for your reply but I'm still confused as to how I lost over 10Gigs of HD space after the migration. I understand the conversion is supposed to create more space, not less.  When I look in the pictures folder in Finder, I see 2 LIbrarys, iPhoto and Photos, each of them approx 15 Gbs. according to the Get Info menu.  I guess what I don't understand is if the iPhotos Library is not needed and is moved to an external drive why that wouldn't free that amount of space.
Also, if "optimization" is supposed to move "some" high res images to the cloud to make room on the HD, how is it that I find myself with only 1gb left on my HD? What is the criteria that triggers "optimization" and how much room can we expect it to shoot for? There seems to be a variety of answers on this subject, many of them sound like guesses. Apple's explanation is vague about how it works, so hopefully someone has the accurate, in depth scoop on this.

  • What to do with old Ipod 4

Apple gave me back my broken Ipod 4 that they replaced with a new one for a price.  I am just wondering what I can do with it now?

Anything yo want. Sell for parts.
I am surprised since Apple exchanges an old iPod for a refurbished one as an out-or-warranty replacement.
