Lost iPhoto application

I have recently installed OS 10.4.2 and I now have lost my iPhoto. Where can I go to download and install iPhoto? Will it work with Tiger? I have searched and searched and can only locate updates.

As I recall, iPhoto 4 is compatible with Mac OS X 10.2.8 or later, and iPhoto 5 with Mac OS 10.3.4 or later. There are lots of reasons, however - many quite compelling - to upgrade your iLife suite by purchasing the iLife 5 package.
It's available for a suggested retail price of $ 79.00, discounted - from amazon.com for $ 68.99, for example - for even less from Apple for qualified education buyers, or at discounted rates from many other sources.
If you have not already purchased Tiger, consider the $ 287.00 Mac OS X 10.4, iLife 5 and iWork bundle. It's quite a deal, actually, if you are interested in Pages and Keynote. Again, if you're qualified, that bundle is available at a discount.

  • Lost iPhoto application, now what?

I was transferring photos to a new hard drive and also dragged the iPhoto icon from the dashboard into the hard drive. Now I cannot find it anywhere including on the hard drive which only seems to have jpeg photos.
Do I have to re-stall the entire system to get iPhoto back?
Will I lose everything on my computer if I re-install? Can I be selective and only use the disc that holds applications?
    Ugh!

Click on the Applications item in the Finder's sidebar and drag it back from there. If it's not there, perform a custom install of it and then run the latest applicable iPhoto updater. You may need to move items out of the /Library/Receipts/ folder temporarily.

  • I lost iphoto in my macbook

    hello
i lost iphoto application and all the data on my macbook

If you purchased the machine new and it had OS X 10.7 or 10.8 on it, then you will have to talk to Apple because basically it's another machine as you likely had your logicboard switched, thus it has a different serial number and all AppStore software is copy protected and tied to your AppleID.
If your machine originally came with 10.4, 10.5, or 10.6, then you can try to see if those installers will work as the iLife is on the disks, or you can use Pacifist from Charlesoft to extract the apps and put them on your machine, then Software Update so the versions are current.

i lost my iphoto application how i can restore it? i am not having system restore disk. how i can get my photos back?

If the iPhoto application is no longer on your hard drive (do a search to be sure it didn't just get moved to an unexpected place), there's no way to get it back without either backups or a copy of iPhoto.  Your original disks that shipped with the machine would have iPhoto.  If you have lost those disks and don't have backups, you'll simply have to buy a copy of iLife.  Or call Apple with your machine's serial number in-hand and request replacement disks, which they will send you for a small fee.

  • My iMac got infected and in cleaning it I lost my iPhoto application.  How can I get it back?  DO I need to buy it?

I have OS X Yosemite version 10.10.2 on my desktop.  Recently it got infected with a bug and I had to get it cleaned up, but somehow my iPhoto application was lost.  How can I get the application back on my computer?  Do I have to buy it?

Reload it from the original source. If you got it with the computer, that will either be the computer's original disks or the Mac App Store depending on what its original OS was.

If you're running Lion 10.7.5, you can download/install iPhoto here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1608
Alternatively, restore the application from your Time Machine backup for Leopard or Snow Leopard. If you're still running Tiger, you might be able to navigate the original install disc and find the package installer for it.

  • I just had my hard drive replaced on my Mac after my other one crashed. However, I've lost iPhoto! Any way to get it back w/all my pics?

After my hard drive on my iMac (2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 duo) crashed, the tech guy installed a new hard drive and was able to recover most things for me. I lost all my bookmarks and my iPhoto, with hundreds of photos. I have Maverick installed. I have a 1.5TB external hard drive and it shows iPhoto, iDVD, iTunes, etc., but it doesn't allow me to open any of them. How can I see what's in these icons if it won't open because it's in a Time Machine backup?

How old is this Time Machine backup? Is it current?
To be able to use applications and your iPhoto library and iTunes library you need to restore them from the Time Machine backup.  To get your photos back, you need to restore the iPhoto Library from your Pictures folder, and to reinstall the iPhoto application.
This would have best been done, when you reinstalled the system using Setup assistant. http://pondini.org/OSX/SetupLion.html
Did the Tech Guy not use your Time Machine backup to restore your Mac?
Since you already set up your Mac, you can use the Migration Assistant from Applications > Utilities to restore your old files to a new user account.
    http://pondini.org/OSX/MigrateLion.html
To reinstall iPhoto: Did iPhoto originally come preinstalled on your Mac, and what was the MacOS X version that came with your Mac?  Or did you buy the iLife installer package?

  • Lost iphoto, cant install again

I have lost iphoto, it is no where to be found and some kind soul from here advised me to reinstall. I cant. Help, please
    Heres what I tried:
Installation disk 1- it restarts as it should. Then I get a window that says welcome to Mac 0s x. There are a variety of choices including "read before you install and also install mac os x". I click on that one. Then I go around again with the restart and the exact same list of choices.
On disk 2 I select the additional application pkg, get an installation window and select the HD as my destination. Then I get the following msg
“A newer version of “Additional Applications” (version 1.0.0.6.547) already exists on the volume “HD”
This software does not allow older versions to be installed on top of newer versions
    so I Cancel
Since I am wondering where the additional applications are I ask the FIND to locate them for me. Apparently there arent any because FInd cant find them.
I am wondering exactly what my problem is and do I need professional help.
I tried the disk utility program to verify and repair permissions and got 200 pages of information (example :Permissions differ on ./Applications/Internet Explorer.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/Help/Images/Icon_folder.gif, should be -rw-rw-r-- , they are -rwxrwxrwx
Owner and group corrected on ./Applications/Internet )
Thanks for any assistance, I like iphoto and want it back

Thank you silly rabbit but I still have trouble. I did install Pacifist and everything looked fine BUT There is an Iphoto icon in my hd/ applications and it says it’s an application(as opposed to folder, document). When I click on it it looks like it is open just for a couple of seconds i see the rainbow spinner then switches back to finder or the open application.
I threw it all out (Pacifist) and emptied the trash. I restarted and installed it again. Then I installed IPhoto again. Looks good, its in the applications and clicking on it brings it up to appear to be an open application. I see edit (rotate, arrange photos, set title, etc.)
I connect camera Iphoto opens, looks good
tell it to import photos and it quits there was a msg but I didnt get it
I undid the camera and shut down and restarted.Iphoto flashes in the finder then nothing
iphoto is in application folder--i checked -but when I click on it it just flashes again and goes right back to finder
Now I install Panther (10.3.9) figuring it will install IPhoto since nothing else did. Here"s what happened:
click on iphoto and it asks if I want iphoto to open when I attach the camera YES
    attach camera------nothing detach
    attach camera iphoto opens
    click on import
    iphoto unexpectedly quits detach camera
    attachc camera iphoto opens
    click on import
    iphoto unexpectedly quits detach camera
Can someoone give me some idea of what I should do??

  • In upgrading my OS X to 10.6, I lost iPhoto.  How do I regain capability?

In upgrading my OS X from 10.4 to 10.6, I lost iPhoto.  How can I regain iPhoto capability so I can access to my iPoto Library in the backup disk and downlaod from my camera?
    Thank you!
    <Edited by Host>

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • I've lost iPhoto

Whilst updating Tiger to 10.4.4 I seem to have lost iPhoto. It's not in my applications folder and spotlight can't find it. Why is this and more importantly how do I get it back?

Hi. Apple do have a strange way of "fixing" this problem. There way is to install Panther back again, this will install all your original apps., THEN select "upgrade" in the installation list. See: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301270 as to why. Everyone else uses "Pacifist's" wonder program which lets you "see" the programs on your original install disk(s). See: http://www.charlessoft.com/ — using this program will let you install only the apps. you require. Don't be concerned about using it - it is very easy! (Even for me)! Hope this helps. Best wishes, Robert.

  • IPhoto Library opens up iPhoto application

Every time I go to open my iPhoto library it automatically launches the iPhoto application instead of taking me to the various folders it is suppose to. The only way I can access the photos is to Right Click > Show Package Contents. Normally, this would be fine, but when it comes to uploading photos and whatnot, it's near impossible. Help? Thanks.

    Bonjourcestmoi
Welcome to the Apple user discussion forums
The only way I can access the photos is to Right Click > Show Package Contents.
While this is a way to get into the iPhoto library it is recommended that you do not use it except under very specific circumstanses - if you move, change or otherwise modify anything in the iPhoto library you are likely to corrupt your library and lost data
Normally, this would be fine, but when it comes to uploading photos and whatnot, it's near impossible.
There are many correct and safe ways to access your iPhoto photos - see TD's post here for a complete discussion on accessing your library
I also recommend that you take the iPhoto tutorials - there are several things you need to learn about using iPhoto '08.

I replaced my hard drive and lost iPhoto. Is there a way to retrieve?  I can not find the starter discs that came with my Macbook Pro.

Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. You can purchase replacement discs from Apple.
Or, you can upgrade to Lion or Mountain Lion:
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99.
If you sign into the App Store and try to purchase Mountain Lion but the App Store says your computer is not compatible then you may still be able to upgrade to Lion per the following information.
    A. Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
    B. Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • Lost iphoto, imovie & garageband after restore

I restored my macbook and lost iphoto, imovie & garageband. I have a late 2011 Macbook pro which came with no ilife disc so i can't use that

Restoring iLife applications after Internet Restore of OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion
If you erase install OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion on a new Mac that shipped with OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion installed, you can download iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand from the Mac App Store.
After installation, start (up) from OS X.
Double-click the App Store icon in the dock.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
    Click Purchases.
If you haven't previously accepted your bundled iLife applications within the Mac App Store, you should see your iLife applications appear in the Accept portion of the screen. Click Accept.
You may be asked for your Apple ID and password once again. Your iLife applications now move to the Purchased section. These applications are part of the software that came with your Lion based computer. Your account will not be charged for them. Click Install to complete installation of your applications.

I've had my laptop for about a year now. I recently used the 2 installation discs (Mac os version 10.5.4 install disc 1 & 2) and now I don't have the iphoto application. I originally did but now it's lost, i really need iphoto, but i don't know how to get it back. Is there anything i can download or do to get this application back? Why didn't the disc install iphoto?

Thanks! The discs did work, it's just that iphoto was not installed. I've looked for it but, nothing.
