Lost ipod video

One of my reasons for buying an Ipod was so that I could get some of the TV shows I'd bought off my laptop and free up some space. So I downloaded several TV seasons to my new Ipod, deleted them from my laptop - and they've disappeared from my Ipod. I thought I had my updates set to manual only, don't know how I managed to wipe out my content - grrr - but it there some way I can restore them on the Ipod? (why oh why is it so easy to inadvertently wipe out Ipod content?)

If you have deleted them from the computer and somehow deleted them from the iPod also, unless you have a back up somewhere else, they're gone.
There is no "undo" feature to get them back.
There is data recovery software for the iPod, but it isn't free and not always successful.
It's easy enough to wipe out anything on any hard drive not just the iPod. One inadvertent click of a mouse button and it's gone.
Backups are an essential part of computer life.

  • Lost iPod Video - What Should I Do?

    Hello
I've just returned from New York (Apple Store was Amazing), anyway I fell asleep during the flight and with the bump of the landing my iPod Video fell to the floor. I was sandwiched between two people and I’m quick large so I couldn’t reach it. I immediately pressed the cabin crew call button, but they didn’t come until the plane had full landed.
Doors opened and everyone began moving around. I checked six rows in front and 4 behind (was in the tail section), but the iPod had vanished. (I’m 90% sure that the people behind me took it – but I can’t prove it).
I reported this to the cabin crew, the cleaning crew, the ground crew, three British Airways desks and filled in a lost property form.
What should I do now? Will contacting Apple help? If so how do I do that?
I’m completely at a loss without it, just hope my home insurance can cover it (only got medical holiday insurance).
    Thanks for any advice.

No, please do not call Apple regarding this.
The warranty does NOT cover lost iPods. It is not Apple's responsibility to replace lost iPods.
Apple will inform you to file a police report with your local authorities, as there is nothing they can do for you.

  • Lost sound when convert Quicktime video to ipod video

    Hi,
when I use iTune to conveert a video file from quicktime (or others) to ipod/iphone video file I lost the sound!
    I'll appreciate any help!
    Thanks!

QuickTime expects video files with separate video and audio tracks, but many MPEG formats used a muxed (multiplexed) single track that contains both. Therefore, when you convert videos in iTunes to iPod format they only show the video and no sound since iTunes (really QuickTime) is not looking for the audio track within the video track and it gets lost.
iPod plays video but not audio of some exported files
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302588
One way to work around this is to use MPEG Streamclip to convert the files to fix this issue...

but there are other applications besides MPEG Streamclip you can try as well.

  • Is there an app to recover lost ipods?

Hello everyone. A lost ipod is not that significant a  problem in the context of this world, but has anyone developed a way to locate a lost ipod?
This is the second lost on or around BART in SF. I've contacted them in the past and will again in the future. But it is the person who will pick up that wonderful instrument I listened to in love, difficulty, and fun really know how important that small item is in my life?
Personal playlists, personal videos, yes, a record of my life, that was my ipod.
A reward for my iphone brought it back, but an ipod?
Let me know what has worked for you.

    Find My iPhone App
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/find-my-iphone/id376101648?mt=8
Compatible for iPod Touch 3G or better, iPhone 3s or better, iPad 3 or better working on iOS 5 or better. This app is optimized for iPhone 5. Plus you need iCloud.... (not sure how to set it up)..... unless you have iCloud set up to your devices running iOS 5 or better, there is no chance to find, track, or locate your iDevices (will NOT work on Nano, Classic, Shuffle, Mini, iPod Touch 1st Gen or iPod Touch 2nd Gen)..... change any passwords used on that iDevices and report to the police. Apple won't do anything.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2526 (Report Lost/Stolen Apple Product)..... when reporting to the police, this will find the serial numbers on your devices that was stolen.
If the devices was RESTORED there is nothing you can do.
As for tracking the device you have to use the Find My iPhone app on a different iOS (if your devices doesn't have the app no problem, you just need icloud)..... it will attempt to find the device or either lost or got stolen. For iPod Touch it needs to be connected with Wi-Fi in order to work.
Plus with iCloud, you should be able to delete any data on that devices (even if stolen)..... again if they restore the device..... ALL DATA is deleted and you can't find it. It will be removed from iCloud.

  • 30 GB Ipod Video not recognized by either Windows or Itunes

    Hi,
I purchased a new 30 GB iPod Video (5th generation) today to replace my old iPod photo. It's been charging for a few hours, but when I plug it into the computer there is hardly any recognition. Windows will make the "you plugged in a USB" noise but that's it. The iPod will not go into "DO NOT DISCONNECT" mode, nor will iTunes recognize the iPod.
iTunes is updated, and I tried many of the tips on the pages here. I've also tried to reset it by holding the menu and enter buttons, and it reset, but there was no recognition. I even tried toggling the hold switch back and forth a few times and I got noting.
I'm seriously perplexed, so any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Adam

  • IPod Video 5th Generation Upload Video to IPod Problem.

    Hi all,
I recently purcase an IPod video, and I have problem with uploading video from Itunes to my IPod. Is working fine when I set it to automatically sync. But when I change the setting to manually and drag the video file into the Movies folder (Itunes) is doesn't seem to be upload to my IPod. Music is working fine. Any one know why.
    Thank heaps in advance.
      Windows XP

Well this is a hard one,
You need to do a few things.
First you need to get it ripped in a file format by using questionable-legality software (Cough* like mine*). Or you could use illegal-ish (but not really illegal) software such as Limewire. But if for SOME reason you already have it in that from. Here is what you do.
    Download this software.
    http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/download.php
It is free and really easy to use. This will convert your movie file to compatible format, MPEG-4 (or Quick-Time).
Ok that was the easy part!
Now you will have to manually set the Audio bit rate to match to Video Bit rate in the Videora. The help tool will show you how to do it. You may get lucky and it will be the get the same bit rate for both. And then you are good to go! (it is worth a try, up to this point, some videos auto convert exactly to try it)
BUT IF NOT: (here we go)
To get the Audio and Video bit rate, change your view mode in the file folder where your original file is located to filmstrips. Now, hover your mouse over the video file, you should see Audio & Video bit rate. If not you will have to fiddle with Videora to get it right. Now change to bit rates in your options in Videora to match the original file. If the audio is off from the video, your sound will lag while your video plays or vise versa. Meaning, at about 5 min your audio could be off by over 45 sec.
Alright, you got your video. Now drag and drop it into Itunes, and drop it into your ipod. There you go! Easy right?
Well if you are lost after the “BUT IF NOT” part and you can’t get it working sufficiently before that point. My suggestion is to give up, unless you are great with computer fiddling.
So all in all it can be done, but it is VERY hard to do! I have done it, but it takes a while to work (2-3 hours-ish).
Hope this helped you, God Life

  • How can i recover my data from lost iPod?

I have lost my iPod Touch somewhere or it has been stolen, I guess Find My iPod was not configured on my device. Is there any solution to get my all iTune & personal data from stolen/lost iPod?

Someone may be able to get data off the iPod.
If you want the data the best method is to restore another iPod touch, iPhone or iPad from the backup of your stolen iPod. The iOS version on the stolen iPod has to equal to or less than the version on the other devices.
You can also get some data from the iPod backup that iTunes makes
Maybe via How to perform iPad recovery for photos, videos

  • Can I get music off of a broken iPod Video, 30GB?

This isn't detrimental, I have an iPhone as well as an iPod touch and have all the music I need. But I found my broken iPod video today, and it hasn't worked for a few years. I dropped it about three and a half years ago, cracked the screen, and ever since it's been fudged up. If I plug it in, it'll try and start up, then shut itself down, so it's *trying* to work.
I'm simply curious to see what music was on there, so it's not a big deal if it's not possible. I know I had over three thousand songs on there, and they're all bound to be terrible, but it's fun and also horrifying to look back on my previous taste in music.
If anybody has any solutions, or ideas, let me know, but like I said, not in a panic, not taking it to be repaired or anything.
I'm not sure if it's called the iPod classic, by the way, but this is the iPod I'm talking about. http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/ipod-2-091206.jpg
I don't think the iPod's coming up on my computer. I just plugged it in, and this is my old crappy computer since my PC decided to crap out, but there's no sign of it being recognized so I'm assuming it's probably a lost cause, but oh well.

The only suggestion I have is to try and force the iPod into Disk Mode.

  • Using iPod video on a new computer - without software?

I recently bought a new laptop and I wanted to be able to use my iPod Video on it. The only problem is that I lost the CD that came with the package.
Will I still be able to hook the iPod to the laptop without losing any of the songs/movies/pictures on the iPod?

  • The new iPod Video, xtra HD?

hi, can I buy a 30GB iPod Video and use it as a backup HD? I need an iPod for portable music, possibly to watch some television DVDs on it, and to store Garageband and SoundStudio files. I might also want to store other files onto it, but currently audio is the only kind of media I use my comp. for. I have lost useful data twice, and don't want to again. I don't want to buy an external HD to backup data, plus I've been hankering for my own mp3 player anyways.
    thnx

    Stan,
The iPod could work as a backup HD, but as long as you don't access it a lot. If you are always adding files to it and making the HD spin a lot, it could shorten the lifetime of your iPod. But, for just backing some stuff up every once in a while and to store some files, you should be fine.

  • Decision on buying an ipod video is down to one thing

I have been searching and searching for the easiest way to convert dvd to ipod, but all I can find is illegal software to do it that has complications. I even went to my local apple store and asked a salesman if they sale software that does such, but I got the idea right away that they did not appreciate what I was asking and told me dvd converting to ipod is illegal and they would not offer help in this matter. If I am going to spend 700 dollars (my wife wants one too) on something from apple, I want to know what the least complicated/ least time consuming method of converting from dvd to ipod is. Just downloading music videos and tv eps at 2 bucks a peice is not enough for me for 700 bucks. Those top heads at apple know what they are doing, I just refuse to be a victom of spending a ton of money on their product that I can't add my own stuff to. My decision on buying an ipod video comes down to the fact of wheather or not I can convert dvd to ipod in a simple manner, thanks for your help.

"but copying your dvd in which you purchased to a smaller form of viewing is a free right of owning that movie."
You need to brush up on copyright law, because you cannot make a copy of a commercially released DVD movie for any reason, even to put it onto the iPod. That's why Apple don't sell software to do this, and there is such a proliferation of 3rd party software that does. DVDs are copy protected and this 3rd party software breaks that copy protection in order to convert the movie for viewing on an iPod. Apple will never be a party to this.
"I refuse to be a victom of spending gords of money to a company that is money hungry"
You seem to be blaming Apple for copyright law. How is it Apple's fault? Money hungry? Sorry, you've lost me there.
"It's probley for the best anyways, look at how many people have problems with their ipods."
Yeah, and with over 50 million iPods sold worldwide, look at how many people don't.
