Lost ipod, x appear in icloud device locator

when i update the ios7 on my iphone, i found out that my photostream was filled with some strangers photos, which i believe coming from my lost ipod.  I tried to locate it to erase data & lock the ipod, but it didn't appear in the find my iphone list of device.  when i check the list of device associated with my icloud account in itunes and registered device on the web, it does appear.
how can i locate this **** thing and erase all data before i can lock it?  i dun care if it's missing anymore, i just want to protect my privacy.

I digged into it as I had the same problem, I found this in the logs:
7/17/08 21:49:46 Xcode[2242] Error loading /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/Library/Xcode/Plug-ins/iPhoneR emoteDevice.xcodeplugin/Contents/MacOS/iPhoneRemoteDevice: dlopen(/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/Library/Xcode/Plug-ins/ iPhoneRemoteDevice.xcodeplugin/Contents/MacOS/iPhoneRemoteDevice, 265): no suitable image found. Did find:
/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/Library/Xcode/Plug-ins/iPhoneR emoteDevice.xcodeplugin/Contents/MacOS/iPhoneRemoteDevice: no matching architecture in universal wrapper
It turned out that XCode was running in 64bit mode, so it could not load the 32bit plugin. After toggling the 'Open in 32 Bit Mode' checkbox in 'Get Info' on XCode the device loaded (in 32 bit mode), then the iPod showed in the organizer.

Why doesnt my 1st generation ipod shuffle appear under my devices on itunes when i plug it in? i have windows 7. I got the ipod today from a friend with their music. i deleted their music and added my own to the folder it was in. but when i unplugged it i still had their music and none of mine.

You need to restore the Shuffle in iTunes first. Then sync all of your music stored in iTunes over to it. Or is that what you did?

  • Lost iPod - Using a different iCloud account to iTunes account?

    1) On my currently lost iPod, I used my iTunes account, I do not have an iCloud account. 2) To find my iPod I used 'Find my iPhone' however I used my husbands iCloud account - will this affect the function on the 'Find my iPod' app?

No it wont have any effect in Finding your iPod. You must have an iCloud account in your iPod in order to use Find my iPhone.

  • TS4006 Should the name of my ipod appear in the devices in find my phone ? My ipad does but my ipod doesnot

Should my ipod name appear in the devices in Find My Phone or should it just say ipod

    It will if:
    - You are logged in to iCloud with the same Apple iD as your iPad: Settings > iCloud > Sign in
    - You have Find My iPhone enabled in the iCloud settings on the iPod: Settings > iCloud > Find My iPhone - On
    - You are connected to WiFi

  • HT201342 Can icloud locate my lost ipod?

Can I use icloud to find my lost ipod touch 4th generation. It had a "find my ipod" app on it, but when I went on my computer to find it , all  it tells me my ipod is offline. Is there any other way to find it?

Having the "Find my iPod" app installed does nothing. The "Find my ... " service needs to be setup and activated in the iCloud Settings on the device.
Also, for it to work, the device needs to be powered up, and have an internet connection. As the iPod does not have GPS or a cellular connection, any location gained will only be vague as it relies on the known location of nearby WiFi networks.

Lost iPod Touch few days ago. Tried iCloud but says offline. Any ideas to recover?

When it is off, it cannot recieve any signal.  So sending a signal would not help.
    Off is off.  No power.
    Sorry.
I hope you are able to find your ipod.
    Good Luck.

What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
    iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if it is connected to the Internet by Wi-Fi or cellular. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:
This link, Re: Help! I misplaced / lost my iPhone 5 today morning in delta Chelsea hotel downtown an I am not able to track it. Please help!, has some good advice regarding your options when your iDevice is lost or stolen.

    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

How do I locate my lost iPod touch

If you activated the Find My iPhone service (in Settings>icloud), and if the device's batteries still have a charge, the device is not turned off and has not been reset and is connected to wifi, then you can try to track it.  Using a computer, log into icloud.com and look at the Find My iPhone page.  On a device, invoke the Find My iPhone app (get it for free at the itunes app store) and log into the icloud account.
If it is offline, then one of the requirements listed above is not met (like being connected to wifi, or if the device was stolen and the thief reset it).

  • TS4006 is their still away to locate my lost ipod touch without the app find my ipod being on it

is their still away to locate my lost ipod touch without the app find my ipod being on it

The Find My iPhone APP has nothing to do with setting up the service on you ipod.  It's used to find other los devices.
You needed to turn on Find My iPhone service in Settings>iCloud (near bottom of page).  Without that you cannot locate the device.

  • HT1689 How can I locate a lost iPod touch?

How can I locate a lost iPod touch?

If you have previously set up/configured the FindMyIPod service in the iPod's settings, you might be able to track it that way by going to www.icloud.com and signing in with your Apple ID.  Then click the FindMyiPod icon.  This also requries that the iPod Touch be still powered on, connected to a nearby Wi-Fi network whose location has been correctly entered into Apple's location database) and not have been restored by somebody else who my have located the device.
Otherwise, I'm afraid you are out of luck and will need to look for it as you would anything else you lose. You should report the lost item to the local authorities and change any and all passwords to any accounts you may have set up or accessed with the device. Apple can do nothing to help.

  • How can I locate the owner of a lost Ipod Touch 4g?

A friend found a lost Ipod Touch 4th generation and gave it to me because he's given up trying to locate the owner. Now I am trying to find its owner (last ditch effort).
I've never seen this message before, but when I got it, there is a screen saying disabled, connect to iPod. I assume that either it was remotely locked? Or perhaps my friend tried to guess passwords unsuccessfully too many times?
I took it to the Apple Store in San Francisco and the sales rep that was helping me didn't know how to do it.
I ran three ads in craigslist in different sections - no response.
My bf used to work for Apple, and is absolutely uninterested or too busy to help me out (nice guy, eh?).
I don't want to restore the phone and wipe the data, since it may destroy any possible clue as to how to locate the owner beyond the first name and photo that appears when you turn it on. (I tried to see if I could get it connected to iTunes and figure something out, but the phone is disabled)
Anybody know what I can do? Serial numbers?
note: In case you are wondering why I am so adamant on finding the owner, I have lost 2 ipods in the past (found one), but the other is gone forever (despite all my "please return to (my contact info)" message I had in place of the passcode screen. I will go pretty far to return this to the owner, because beyond principle, I was sad when mine was never returned to me.

I took it to the Apple Store in San Francisco
Take it to the nearest SFPD station.
And bravo to you for making such an effort to find the owner. They may have reported it lost or stolen to the SFPD.
